Anyone interested in a Pathfinder game with some exotic smex? (Not DMing)

Just wondering. My own input would probably be slow for the next couple weeks at least, but it would be cool if we could get a group together and get something off the ground.

While I don't really have the time or patience to DM, I would certainly be willing to assist however I can with my imagination or ideas, if there's some kind of horrible creativity deficiency going on around here. Whatever my role though, I shouldn't be relied on to the extent that the campaign hinges on me.

I apologize for not providing any actual plot or setting, but if that's the deciding factor, I could certainly throw some ideas out there. I just want to emphasize that I'm really only interested in being a PC, particularly as I'm quite new to Pathfinder. That being said, is there really no one interested in trying to get a game together?

Just to throw a little something to whoever DMs, I'd like to say that I prefer low levels as a starting point, but not necessarily first. Something like third level is more or less ideal for me. Anyone else have thoughts on that, or some other special preferences?

I've been itching to run a pathfinder game based on the Spice and Wolf anime. Where instead of Lawrance the group of misfits/adventurers were escorting Horo to Yoistu and naturally get into trouble with bandits and religious zealots and what not. A rather medium-low magic game where it mostly consisted of beating people stupid with weapons.

The sort of setting where arcane magic gets you killed by the church and the divine magic is strictly regulated by the priests for their own profits and power control. When you are the only one in town that has healing magicks you tend to get pretty good support with the people.

Less retarded since there isn't much 3rd party crap filling the fringes and breaking the system. Also stuff like combat maneuvers like disarm and trip and sunder have been streamlined to make sense.

Combat Maneuver bonus and combat maneuver defense are the biggest changes. Besides that they have updated the combat classes to actually be more interesting then run up and stab something until it dies.

That and the skills are streamlined. Overall it is much better then 3.5. Stuff like listen, search and spot are put into one skill called perception. All of the sneak skills were put into sneak, and acrobatics now covers all of the balance and climbing and jumping nonsense. Concentration has been put into spellcraft as well, which took me forever to figure out.

Not very at all. Essentially, it is 3.5, just with some changes and new content. What's really great about it is that all of its content (as far as I know) is available for free here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

A lot of the changes involve related skills being combined (like hide and move silently becoming "stealth") and balance changes, with some feats being weakened a bit, and weaker classes like fighters and monks getting some nice upgrades. Another cool thing about it is that spellcasters can use 0-level spells all day long. Alright, I think I'll try it. I'm not going to DM. I already have enough games I am being an Irresponsible GM for XD I don't need to add one that I havn't even played.

From what I've seen, the only complaint I'd have with Pathfinder over 3.5 would be the change to Clerics...but then a lot of my Cleric builds were turn/rebuke heavy.  I haven't played Pathfinder though and would like to learn.

I liked Spice and Wolf too (not sure if I saw just the first season or both though) but I'm not sure how it will work in an rpg.  Seems a bit linear unless we're planning on broadening the plot at some point.  I've never been one to follow a set path.

Yeah, I would DM and make Horo into a druidess of sorts. Really the only class in D&D that can apply to her at all. Also limits me to have it be at level 6 starting, that way she can turn into a large wolf and scare some peasants senseless.

Naturally when you do stumble into her, she won't have any magical items, being stuck in the land for a few centuries and everything. Druids don't need magical weapons or armor anyway, so no big loss.

Speaking of magical items. There will be those in this game, but since this is a medium-low magic world, all of the magical items are crafted by the church, and via their monopoly they charge 1.5 times more then what the base prices are.

The idea is yes you can have magical stuff, but only after the permits and praying and dealing with greedy priests and under the table bribing to get the paperwork done and MORE praying.

So level 6 starting.
5d6 epic rolls. I like my players to be slightly OP so I don't feel bad about throwing mean baddies at them.
16,000 starting gold.
3 Players only. Any more and it bogs down the game.

Alright, what about classes and races? Can we use any of the ones from the Pathfinder OGC? And are there any monsters in this world, or just humans and animal gods?

Also, do we have to pay 1.5 times the price for starting equipment?

It would be boring just having humans, so all of the base classes and races are good to go. Just remember that arcane casters have to be paranoid fucks due to the church really enjoying their practice of burning heretics. They consider any arcane magic heretical.

I think I am going to go with an Elvish Paladin. Hunter of Heretics. Who will unknowingly be probably working for said Heretics. That being said, he's very bad at his job.

Question. I want my Guy to be as dumb as rocks, can I lower one of by Abilities to like a 6? (it'll be an 8 after applying Racial)

Ugh, I just rolled some pretty boring arse stats: 12, 9, 15, 14, 14, 13.

Just a few more questions: 1) Are we rolling for HP normally? 2) Do we have to pay 1.5 times the cost for our starting equipment? 3) How many traits do we get, if any?

5d6 epic means reroll ones and twos. So no matter what the lowest you can get is a 3+3+3=9.
