By now everyone knows the story...

The Arklay Mountains Outbreak was the first reported outbreak of the T-virus. And as horrifying and disastrous as that outbreak was, it was also unrelated to the later Raccoon City Outbreak which proved even worse in scope and consequences. If one follows the timeline leading up to both outbreaks they find that both events seem almost fated to have happened, with several examples of what appear to be the most unfortunate string of coincidences and accidents imaginable.

But what if these events were not fated? What if the events that took place in 1998 were simply the result of several coincidences? And what if one of these small, seemingly unimportant turning points in history were to change?

Then perhaps history itself would also change. But for the better? Or for the worse? Only time can tell...

OOC

Alright...... This is my idea thread for a non-cannon game set in a slightly altered version of the Resident Evil universe. Now before you read any further you should know that when I say non-cannon I don't only mean that players will play non-cannon characters. I also mean that the actions taken by the players' characters can (and most likely will) alter the events of the history of a major event(s) within the Resident Evil universe. As for how that history is changed...that is entirely up to the characters' actions. SO basically I'm proposing a game that offers players the ability to actually have a 'real' effect on the course of events in Resident Evil history.

IF this concept is something that upsets you/violates everything you love about Resident Evil. You probably shouldn't join this game. BUT if you're like me and think this concept is quite intriguing, then please read a bit more, see if this game is for you. And if it in fact is, voice some interest by posting something along the lines of "I'm interested" in this thread(or by posting a character). AND as always any questions and/or comments are welcome!

The Basics

First off, I'll be going by the video game universe as opposed to the movie one. Simply because I grew up on the games and they to me are the true Resident Evil.

I've got a long term story, taking part over several chapters, in mind for this game. Each one of these chapters will cover a different major event in the history of the Resident Evil universe for instance the first chapter will cover the Mansion Incident. The exact make up/format of each chapter will most likely vary greatly from the next. Simply because each one will not only tell a different story, but a different kind of story as well. Some chapters will be short, others will be long. With that in mind I'll be treating each chapter as a different game, with its own thread, that will be started once the previous chapter has finished.

For example, players who play in the first chapter will be more than welcome in the second, and if more characters are needed the recruitment thread will be re-opened for the 2nd chapter.

What You Can Expect

You can expect everything that has made the Resident Evil game series a success, such as zombies, suspense, mystery, in depth stories and characters, and even puzzles that the players will have to solve using their characters. These puzzles may be very easy or very hard, but will not be game breaking and if the players get snagged anywhere along the line I'll be more than willing to give hints/answers...though running to the gm for help may have some IC consequences later on   >:)

Characters&NPCs

I'm going to ask that player characters for all the chapters be 100% original, the can obviously be inspired by whoever you like but please don't simply carbon copy any cannon characters.

As far as NPCs go, players can expect to run into both original, and cannon characters.

The Chapters

Chapter 1 The Mansion Incident
July 24, 1999, a number of grisly murders have taken place on the outskirts the Arklay Mountains and forest surrounding the Midwestern town of Raccoon City.  Victims were attacked in their homes by a group of assailants with evidence of cannibalism. Baffled by the strange nature of the cases, the Raccoon City Police Department has sent in the S.T.A.R.S. Charlie team. Their mission was to investigate the mysterious events taking place near and in the woods.

All contact with the Charlie team has been lost. After two days of no with their compatriots, Alpha Team has been mobilized to find out what happened...
(The specifics of this chapter will be explained further below)

Chapter 2The Birkin Situation
William Birkin is a top biologist working for the Umbrella Corporation and is responsible for the discovery of the G-virus and development of the G-virus project. He was promoted in 1988 to lead the "t" project. He has recently completed his development of the G-virus and our sources tell us that he had previously planned on using his final research in order to be promoted into Umbrella's executive board.

However,  a series of disagreements with his superiors have caused suspicion amongst the executive board that he plans on keeping his research to himself and selling it to the U.S. Government. One of our sources within the government informs us that he has requested to have the U.S. military intervene and retrieve him. This cannot be allowed...
(This game will be open to any and all players interested, will involve new player characters who did not take part in Chapter 1. Further specifics of this chapter will be revealed at the end of chapter 1)

Chapter 3The Raccoon City Outbreak
September 22, 1999. Another viral outbreak involving the t-virus has occurred. In the process of Umbrella's attempts to retrieve a sample of the G-virus from William Birkin vials containing the "G" and T-viruses were dropped, releasing them into the sewers. This led to the sewer rats to ingesting the virus and spreading them to the surface.

As of the 24th of September, the city is reported to be in total chaos. Requiring the US Army to attempt to stabilize the situation. Umbrella has dispatched their Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (UBCS) to assist the police, but in reality, Umbrella officials have called for an evacuation of the city, placing high priorities on key, essential members. With the aim of using the UBCS to insure that no important assets are lost.
(This game will be open to any and all players interested, and will be open to both new player characters and those previous characters who took part in Chapter 1. Further specifics of this chapter will be revealed at the end of chapter 2)

Chapter 4No Loose Ends
September 28th, 1999. The Umbrella Corporation, seeking to keep the Raccoon City Outbreak from being a complete and total loss has decided to use the chaos of the Raccoon City outbreak hunt down and kill anyone within Raccoon City who has proven to be a thorn in the corporation's side since the original Arklay Mountains outbreak. They have deployed several different forms of weapons and 'projects'  to achieve this end while also collecting valuable research data.
(This game will be open to any and all players interested, and will be open to new player characters as well as any previous from Chapters 1,2 and 3 who have not yet exited Raccoon City. Further specifics of this chapter will be revealed at the end of chapter 3)

Chapter 5Rockfort Island Situation
Rockfort Island is an Umbrella owned and administered private island located somewhere south of the equator. Rockfort Island's main purpose is operating as both an illegal prison camp, which is currently holding several high value enemies of Umbrella who were captured during and after the Raccoon City outbreak, and para-military training facility for the corporation. Rockfort is administered by Alfred Ashford, whose father was a researcher for and whose grandfather a co-founder of Umbrella Inc. Besides the prison and training facility the island also features a small but lavish palace for hosting of dignitaries, a private residence for Alfred and his sister Alexia, and Several laboratories and B.O.W. storehouses.

So long as the Rockfort facility remains operational Umbrella's future is all but assured by their compiled research data and their large numbers of B.O.W.s ready for immediate sale. With this in mind an unnamed rival of Umbrella is currently preparing to launch an attack on the facility. Exactly who will take part in this attack, what their objectives are, and what effects their actions will have is currently unknown.
(This game will be open to any and all players interested, and will be open to new player characters as well as any previous from Chapters 1 and 3 who survived Raccoon City. Further specifics of this chapter will be revealed at the end of chapter 4)

Chapter 6In The Daylight/I The Rain
The final chapter...the events of this chapter  more than any will be decided by the accumulated actions, decisions, successes, and failures of the player characters through out the previous chapters. As such everything from it's title, to the exact make up of the game will remain a secret until it is time for the chapter to be set up.

The Mansion Incident
Specifics

If you're still reading I'm assuming you're interested ;D. And if such is the case then here is what you'll need to take part in the first chapter of the game.

For this game I'm looking for between 3-6 other players to take on the roles of members of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team who have been sent to locate Charlie team. It should be noted that the timeline for this game is slightly altered (taking place a year later than that of the actual cannon Resident Evil events). This is to allow a bit more plausibility for the small changes that I'll be needing to make to the Resident Evil universe (such as their being a 3rd S.T.A.R.S. team) in order to keep this game feeling 'new' and avoid it simply being a re-make of stories that have already been told.

Limited Freeform
The game will be what I like to call limited freeform, this means that there will be no system used but there will be some limits placed on the character creation process (specifically on character's abilities and equipment) in order to maintain realism. In addition to this I ask that when players make posts relating to their interacting with NPCs/enemies they do not mod/control the world around their character. For example illustrating your character shooting at a zombie should go something like "my character shoots at the zombie, aiming for it's head' rather than "my character shoots at the zombie and hits it in the head."  The reason I ask for this is that it will allow me (as gm) to control the action without having to bring in an actual system.

Character Sheet & Character List
Here is a list of the open slots in the game

And here is the character sheet.

Name
Age
Team Position
Personality
Bio
Equipment
-Primary Weapon:
-Secondary Weapon:
-Tertiary Weapon:
-Additional Equipment:
-Ammunition Level:
Skills (Explained a bit more below)

Equipment
I'm not going to make any solid limits on equipment and skills other than what follows.

As I'm sure you noticed if you've already read the character sheet, there are several sub-categories listed under the Equipment slot. This is to help illustrate the fact that the characters who will be played in this chapter are highly armed police officers. Each character is allowed 3 weapons at game start. The first is a primary weapon, such as a shotgun, automatic rifle, sniper rifle, ect. The second is a secondary weapon such as a pistol or revolver and the third is a hold out weapon such as a knife, stun gun, police baton, ect. All players need to fit their weapon choices into these categories.

Also listed under Equipment are your character's ammunition level and additional equipment. Additional equipment are things such as lock picking tools, first aid kits, ect. I ask that all players try to be as realistic as possible when deciding what extra equipment their characters will have, and also bear in mind that I reserve the right as GM to ask any player to alter their equipment or skills if I feel that their character is unrealistically powerful.

As far as ammunition level goes, this will be a representation of the level of ammunition your character has overall. It will be listed as either High, Moderate, Low, or Empty depending on your character's ammunition state. It is something that I will control and all you need to do for now is list it as "moderate"

Skills
These are the things your character is good at/trained to do. Such as lock picking, first aid, tracking, piloting aircraft, ect. Once again I ask all players to simply follow the rules of realism when deciding their character's skills and to bear in mind that I will ask anyone who's character is unrealistically skilled to alter their list of skills.

I am... so very interested in this!

Though the description doesn't really specify anything, so I suppose I should just ask. What is one to expect in terms of adult content? Just violence? I'm pretty interested regardless, but it's probably good to know. I can totally apply for that second in command slot :D or any one of the team members xD

Glad to have you both aboard.

@Finn MacKenna: To answer your questions,  there will be violence on the scale that you'd expect from any Resident Evil game. With regards to adult content, I'm going to leave it as a possibility but not a necessity. This means that there won't be any zombie/hunter/licker rape scenes going on but if characters do wind up finding the time for some romance (possibly while resting in a safe room ect) that's perfectly acceptable. There may also be some nc scenes involving human NPCs but that will obviously be more situational than anything else.

Hmm. I normally prefer to play civilians/obligatory repentant Umbrella scientists in RE games . . . but I guess I'm down for being the Alpha team medic.

How is this for an application, btw? Warning, big picture incoming.

Name Rin Tachibana
Age 19
Team Position Medic

Personality
Rin is generally a kind and empathetic individual, always one to suggest nonlethal and diplomatic routes if at all possible. If they can get through a situation safely without having to kill anyone, she's happy. Still, she accepts that in this line of work killing is necessary, and follows orders properly . . . though not without a grumble or two in private later. As the youngest member of STARS she tries her best to not lag behind everyone, despite being the least physically able of the group. She has a bit of a 'follower' nature, and tends to take commands from above as word of law, assuming it's not something absolutely crazy like "shoot yourself in the foot". She also has a BIT of a thing for authority figures . . . but she keeps that under wraps.

Bio
Rin is a Raccoon City native, and the only child of a Japanese immigrant and the american woman he met while on a business trip. Growing up she was the sort of person that could fit-in well in any social group, as well as a good student, to the point of jumping ahead a couple of grades early on. Like her mother, after graduating from high school she went to Raccoon City College and studied law enforcement, making up for a lack in strength with her good eyes and fine motor control. Easily making it through the necessary courses she managed to enter the RCPD on a trial basis at the age of 17, where she showed interest in taking medical specialization courses to be of more use in the field. In two years she quickly garnered attention as an eager-to-learn, and exemplary officer, if not a bit naive. When the medic for STARS Alpha Team retired due to injury, she was chosen due to being the next officer in the city that had the minimum amount of skill, and specialized medical training. Needless to say, Rin is damn proud of being the youngest member of STARS. Her family is currently on vacation back in Japan, visiting her father's side of the family.

Equipment
-Primary Weapon: Daewoo KP7 Submachinegun (9mm 30-round magazine. Single, 3-round, full auto modes. Suppressor.)
-Secondary Weapon: Model 617 S&W Revolver (.22 LR, 10 rounds)
-Tertiary Weapon: King Cobra Stun Gun
-Additional Equipment: Light TAC Vest, Large First Aid Kit
-Ammunition Level: Moderate

Skills
First Aid+
Most people get a little bit of first aid training. Rin has full training in expanded first aid. Basically everything she could learn through specialized training without actually going to a medical college to be a doctor.

Good Eyes
Rin has VERY good eyes, possibly one of the reasons she was admitted into STARS at her age. She can pick out fine details at longer ranges than most people, which is also the reason why she's pretty good with a small firearm. Odds are if something is a little 'off' in an area, she'll be the first to spot it.

Light Arms Specialization
Rin is only really good with small arms. With a handgun-type weapon, and standing still, she's extremely accurate. She's less accurate when using sustained fire weapons (such as her KP7 in full auto), and even less accurate when on the move. Don't even think about heavy weapons!

I'm trying to think of different roles, resulting in deciding on what one I'd like to play xD I would kind of like to play the second, I just don't think I could do the role any justice.

Other potential roles I've thought of so far...

Pointman/recon
pilot
mechanic
communications
grunt
forensic specialist
animal handler (not that we would have animals on this one, but could lead to things like animal empathy skill or animal biology)

Will add more as it comes to mind.

Name Bethany "Beth" Campbell
Age:21
Team Position Pilot/Field Mechanic
PersonalityBethany is a gearhead, being under a bonnet was her happy place, wary around others because of her history, but she appreciates her team and respects them greatly. Because of her history she is largely de-sensatised to most situations and is somewhat expectant of her teammates to be the same. Not that she is unsympatheic, but if they can't hack the grime of this job, which her's are usually covered in, why are they here? Although she has somewhat of a soft spot for those younger than her, sort of seeing herself as an older sister to them and trying to shield them from the worst of what the job has to offer.
Bio Bethany, unlike the rest of Alpha team, was the last person you would see working in  law enforcement. More often than not they were actually at odd's with eachother due to Beth's shadey history of car theft, chop shopping and joyriding. When she was finnaly caught up with, the racoon police department gave her a choice, community service or a prison sentence. It was an obvious choice.

Over time Beth showed a impressive aptitude towards machinery being able to get out of commision police cars back on patrol in a small ammount of time. Eventually when she turned 18 she impressed them enough to offer her a job. Where she took all of the available driving courses, especially those in fast persuit. Often getting where she was needed in record time, because of this, she was refered to the S.T.A.R.S's team where fast response times could mean life or death.

Although Beth is a bit of a genius when it comes to mechanics and piloting she has only taken basic training in firearms, showing a competency with light weapons such as the handgun, opting to carry two such weapons instead of carrying a larger weapon which is usually stowed in the cockpit of the teams vehicle, gathering dust.
Equipment
-Primary Weapon: FN Five-seveN semi automatic handgun
-Secondary Weapon: FN Five-seveN semi automatic handgun
-Tertiary Weapon: Tonfa
-Additional Equipment: Tool kit(small), Pilot helmet, Kevlar vest, Radio.
-Ammunition Level: Moderate
Skills
Gearhead: Beth has a affinity and a lot of experience in mechanic's which allow's her to have an understanding of how most machines run, even if it is just an educated geuss. Varying from standard maintainence to hotwiring a car she likes the look of.

Piloting: Beth has had training in piloting helicopter's and in persuit vehicles.

Ambidexterous: When faced with multiple targets, beth can pull out her second pistol and fire at both. But it makes reloading a nightmare.

Also, Silk your character looks great and is accepted. I'll update the list once I'm off of work

Mind if I try coming in? This is actually very interesting :)

Name: John Kenson
Age:21
Team Position: close combat, hacker
Personality: Normally light hearted and loyal John is the type of person who would often play minor pranks and tricks on those around him. He’s often the one that tries to balance the group and usually pays attention to the dynamic of it because of this, he’s often the middle man.

While he’s light and joking with his team he’s quite different to others in his mission. He originally joined the team to make a difference and help bring justice and it often shows in how he deals with the criminals he comes across. Often times he’s the type who’d turn a blind eye towards violence to criminals he knows are criminals, though he does go far to make sure they are guilty. Essentially in the end he’s a very loyal friend and a nasty enemy.

Bio: John from the get go in school aimed straight for a job in law enforcement. Despite the actions of his criminal and lazy parents, maybe in fact because of it, he had a very strong sense of right and wrong, and saw the career as his way to getting into a position where he could make a difference and fully separate himself from his lineage. Because of this he often tried many different routes in helping himself get to what he wanted to do: martial arts, sports, computers, etc. he didn’t actually know what particular job he was aiming for in the force, so he just decided to try everything.
It wasn’t until his final year in high school that he finally decided on his course, aiming to be in the Special Forces. It was actually very difficult to get where he is today with the background his family had and the connections he did not have, but he passed every test and every block they put in his way, and eventually he finally made enough of an impression to be taken seriously. Placing him in the alpha squad was John’s final goal, something he finally got after years of work and the hard won respect of his superiors.

Equipment
-Primary Weapon : riot gun shotgun
-Secondary Weapon: Beretta handgun
-Tertiary Weapon: Kukri blade
-Additional Equipment:
Lighter
Pocket knife
-Ammunition Level: moderate
Skills (Explained a bit more below)
Hacker: While not a mechanical genius john did at one point look into white cap hacking. Despite his choice to go elsewhere he has kept up with the advancements, he can typically break into a system in a synch.
Martial artist: while not a black belt he has had some training in various arts, to the point where it makes a difference in grappling and movements.
Quick thinker/improviser: One of the main reasons he’s noted as a close combat kind of guy is his ability to really think fast on his feet, often making split second decisions to use the things around him as effective weapons and tools.

NameArthur Lancaster
Age 31
Team Position Team Leader
Personality Arthur is a no nonsense type of person, his past lending to him having a very serious and goal oriented demeanor. When on the job he tends to put his team, and the mission before all other considerations.
Bio
Arthur was born the son of a Marine in Chicago, he grew up as a typical military brat and it was no surprise to anyone when the first thing he wanted to do after high school was join the military.

What did come as a surprise was the path and branch he decided to take. His above average grades in high school and a glowing recommendation from a U.S. Army Colonel insured that he was granted and Army scholarship for college. Where he majored in Art History, even though anyone who knew him would have been able to tell you that what he was really majoring in was U.S. Army ROTC(Reserve Officer Training Corps).

As soon as he graduated his commission with the Army was activated and he served as a leader of men.

8 years later he left the Army, due in part to military budget cutbacks, and began looking for a job in which he could put his skills to good use. It wasn't long after this that he was approached by Albert Wesker, the RPD's new 'head of special police forces.' The man told Arthur about S.T.A.R.S. and assured him of his acceptance to a position leading one of the RPD's S.T.A.R.S. teams should he apply... And so it wasn't long before Arthur was given command of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team, Wesker's old position, and was leading his team on successful mission after successful mission.
Equipment
-Primary Weapon: Mossberg 590A1(Semi-Automatic shotgun)
-Secondary Weapon: Glock 18C(Capable of semi and automatic fire modes
-Tertiary Weapon: http://enquirer.com/editions/2003/02/10/baton_zoom.jpg]Metal Nightstick
-Additional Equipment: Black Sun Glasses, Small note pad and pen, 1 flare gun with 3 flare rounds.
-Ammunition Level: Moderate
Skills

-Quick on the Draw: Arthur is, for lack of a better phrase, a born quckdraw with a gun. In fact he managed to take last year's trophy for the RPD's annual paintball gun  quick draw contest.

-Sound Strategic Mind: Arthur received large amounts of training in both tactical and strategic thinking while attending O.C.S. (Officer Candidacy School) and as such he is very good at thinking several moves ahead.

-Strong Sense of Tactics: Arthur received large amounts of training in both tactical and strategic thinking while attending O.C.S. (Officer Candidacy School) and as such he has a very solid understanding of how best to command small numbers of men and women.

NameKevin Ryman
Age 27
Team Position Team Member
Personality  Kevin is an all-around good guy, he is a dyed-in-the-wool optimist, and will rarely get hung up on petty matters. Kevin has been known to be a chatty individual often making jokes about nearly any situation he and his team are in. Despite this seemingly carefree attitude anyone who knows Kevin well will tell you that he genuinely cares about his job and is a police officer for no other reason than his desire to help others and do good in the world.
Bio
Kevin was born and raised in Raccoon City, and even since early childhood he always wanted to be a cop. During high school he demonstrated an average amount of intelligence and a highly above average aptitude for most forms of physical activity. As soon as he obtained the required number of college credit hours Kevin applied for and was accepted to the RPD's police academy. Where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.

Kevin's obvious skill along with his personal dedication and drive to help others brought him to the attention of Police Chief Brian Irons, who eagerly accepted him into the RPD's SWAT unit. Kevin served in SWAT for 4 years before deciding to try out for the, then newly formed, S.T.A.R.S. unit. While his friendly and casual personality has succeed in making him many friends within the rank and file officers of the RPD it actually worked against him during the application process. As illustrated by the fact that Kevin failed the S.T.A.R.S.  the selection process twice. With his "lack of professional conduct & bearing" listed as a contributing factor to both of his two failures.

On his third try Kevin was finally accepted onto the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team, thanks in part to a letter of recommendation from his SWAT team's sergeant, and the personal intervention of Alpha team's leader.
Equipment
-Primary Weapon: AK-103(Capable of Semi and Automatic fire, removable stock.
-Secondary Weapon: Colt .45 Automatic Pistol M1911
-Tertiary Weapon: Combat Knife
-Additional Equipment: Laser pointer(Duct-taped to the side of his .45), Kevlar vest, Steel toed boots.
-Ammunition Level: Moderate
Skills
-Excellent Shot: Lots of hours at the firing range have honed Kevin's aim quite a bit. He is very good at putting the bullets where he wants them to be.

-Expert Hand to Hand Combatant: In his spare time, Kevin has studied and mastered the United States Marine Corps, Linear Infighting Neural Override Engagement(LINE) close quarters combat system allowing him to more than hold his own in one on one combat against both men and women of smaller, equal, and greater size than himself

-Physically Fit: Kevin works out every day. Rain or shine, weekday or weekend. Sometime he goes for long runs, other times he works out with his extensive collection of  home gym equipment. All this adds up to mean that he is in peak physical condition for a man his age (and in better shape then most men younger than him).

If I remember correctly from the Resident Evil history this team would be considered the first team of it's kind.

And done on the weapons.

Actually as of 1998 the STARS Alpha and Bravo teams would have already existed (can't remember the exact amount of time though). So now would be a good time to point out that our game is set in 1999 hence why Kevin is in STARS and Wesker now has a new job/several other changes ;D.

But a little more on the discussion's subject, Bravo and Charlie teams are much more similar to the original STARS teams. With Alpha simply being the designation for the 'new' team.

So team designation is working in a similar fashion to gaming then? (Alpha/beta then full release) in a kind of sense?

Somewhat yes. Basically Charlie is the oldest team(as in its been a team the longest) Bravo is second oldest, and Alpha is third so.

Name: Alvin West
Age: 25
Team Position: Explosives Specialist

Personality: West is a professional, albeit one with a rather dark sense of humor developed from crime scenes where the victims were either scorched, blown into bitty pieces, or both.  He's a capable member of the STARS unit, though, and no one has questioned his loyalty to his comrades, his city, and the people that live in it.

Bio: West was raised in the suburbs of Detroit.  From an early age, he demonstrated a keen intuition and sense of civil responsibility.  He wasn't a genius, but he did well enough in school to be able to afford a two-year college degree in Criminal Justice, which he turned into employment with the DoJ's ATF.  It was there that West truly came into his element: fire and explosives.  He took to learning the subject easily, and soon was a valued Agent in their Arson/Explosives Unit.

It was then that he was approached about joining the STARS unit in Raccoon City.  West was initially hesitant about doing so, but he eventually accepted, seeing the lack of trained personnel in his specialty at the RPD.  He's since gone on to become just as valuable, if not more, to RPD and STARS as he was to the ATF.

Equipment
- Primary Weapon: FN FAL (7.62mm NATO, 20 round magazine, Single and full auto fire selector)
- Secondary Weapon: Colt American Revolver (.44, 6 round cylinder)
- Tertiary Weapon: Stiletto
- Additional Equipment: Kevlar Vest, 2 Stun Grenades, 2 Incendiary Grenades
- Ammunition Level: Moderate

Skills
Arson/Explosives Training
West was recruited from ATF, where he served as an investigator on their Arson/Explosives Unit.  He has a knack for all things fire and explosive in nature.

Accurate Intution
West isn't the brainiest person out there, but he's compensated for it with a strong gut instinct.  He's not always right, but he's right more often than he is wrong.

Weapons Modification Training
West's ATF training has given him the ability to craft, modify, and repair firearms and ammunition.

Also, and this is to everyone. If you don't get a slot in this chapter don't fret ;) Most if not all of the upcoming chapters will have more open slots.

Fair enough.  I have a sniper/overwatch idea; would this be alright?  Or do you want someone who can stay more up close and personal?

Also, I only played 2, some of 3 and some of Dead Aim.  I've seen all the movies, but I realize they aren't canon.  Do you demand knowledgeable players?

Big Picture
(Note: She typically ties her hair back on the job.)

Name: Angela 'Angel' MacKenna

Age: 26

Team Position: 2nd in Command

Personality:
Angel's light-hearted and joking in general, and known to crack jokes even in bleak moments. However, she cares deeply for the others in her squad, being nicknamed Alpha Team's 'Guardian Angel' by some of the RPD, and eventually they just started calling her Angel. She puts on a facade of being calm and even laughing in the face of danger, even when the situation to convince others that she has hope even when she may not.

Truthfully she worries deeply when her squad is in danger, but the act she puts on has most convinced she's calm and collected at all times, and some even think she's cold and heartless, and ironically believe the joking and light-hearted nature she puts forth is a cover for heartlessness.

Most in the squad are not aware that she has a slight drinking problem and is a regular smoker. She hides it from them as a part of the facade she puts on, which is also the cause for it. She hides her worry all day long, by the time she gets home, she's a wreck without a glass of wine and a cigarette.

Bio:
Angel was born to an Irish cop father and his devoted housewife in Raccoon City. Her father was born to the same, as was his father, and so on and so forth. Her father liked to boast that if every MacKenna boy that had ever died in the line of duty would come back to life, the RPD would be a family business. It was in her blood to be a cop, and she wanted it. She wanted to serve and protect, maintain law and order and to do good for the people of her city.

Her father, however, did not approve. MacKenna MEN were cops, the women were not. The two fought over this day and night, over and over. He absolutely forbade it, and she told him to go straight to hell. Her older brother joined the force, and their father declared at least one of his children knew their place in life.

When her brother died in the line of duty, as so many of their family had before, it was the last straw. She was 19 at the time, and marched off to join the force immediately, ignoring her father's condemnation. She joined the force, and was damn good at it. She was decorated for several acts of valor, and rose quickly through the ranks.

She was an obvious consideration for the position of 2nd in Command for the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team. When her father got wind of the rumors that they were even considering her, he stormed into the building to complain. Regardless, in the end, she was given the position, and has served proudly since then.

Equipment
-Primary Weapon: Mossberg Model 590 Shotgun (8 Rounds)
-Secondary Weapon: Beretta 92F/FS Handgun (15 Rounds)
-Tertiary Weapon: Police Baton
-Additional Equipment: None
-Ammunition Level: Moderate

Skills:
Accuracy: Angel has received high markings for her accuracy with firearms. She's no sharpshooter, and enjoys the use of a shotgun over a rifle, but she's rather good shot when she draws her handgun.

Charisma: Angel isn't a politician, and doesn't necessarily go out of her way to kiss ass, even when she respects or cares about a person. However, she has a sort of natural charisma to her, that makes even those who dislike her somewhat inclined to follow her.

Hand-to-hand : Angel is trained in self-defense, and capable of defending herself and others when the bullets run out. She prefers the use of a police baton in this, but can fight bare-handed if need be. Of course... she's only ever tried this on humans before...

@Everyone: By my count we only need one more slot to have a full team! I'm going to go ahead and get to work on the game's opening post. Here is the OCC thread for us to use to discuss our characters, their established relationships with one another,  the situation, ect. Please feel free to go ahead and start talking in it.

To those of you who were interested but didn't nab a slot have no fear! As I  believe I said earlier later chapters will need more characters and thus more slots will be open relatively soon. Also if you're interested in filling a few 'extras' roles in this chapter let me know and I'll keep you in mind for when/if said characters are needed in the 1st chapter.

Name:Violet Spencer (Sakura Saotome)
Age:  20
Team Position: Rear Specialist/B&E Specialist
Personality:
Having neither fear of heights nor modesty.  She's an thrill-seeking lock picker and safe cracker, and she tries to enjoy life.  Normally sweet in temperament, she prefers to defuse arguments before they become conflicts, but at the same time, prefers to avoid interfering once they are conflicts.  She is known for thinking outside the box.  She likes to explore, and will often be the one to shimmy through a small air duct or a climb to small window and drop behind the door to open  She is impulsive, goodhearted, daring- very much a risk taker, often going with whatever works to finish a fight. She's extremely loyal to her friends, but worries about losing them.
Bio:
She's a semi-reformed ex-burglar that now breaks into places for the good guys.   Well trained in martial arts and Japanese swordsmanship, Growing up, an assassin passed on his skills  to his only daughter and was murdered. Orphaned, on the run  the now alone daughter left the area with a traveling circus - picking up valuable acrobatic skills, and later joined a gang, after living on the streets for quite some time, during which she was using her skils to make normal activities for the gang (like burglary and getting away) easier.   She got good at it- but the gang was systematicly hunted down and killed -  she fled, right into the arms of the police where she was arrested by a police officer whose own daughter had passed away far too early.  He vouched for her,  had her record sealed as a juvenile. After taking her on the first of many rock climbing adventures, he rehabilitated her somewhat - adopting her and, and eventually getting her into police training.  Unfortunately he was murdered by the same man that murdered her original family. She went a little nuts after that temporarily- and hunted down and cut off the guy's head.  A deal was made - in respect for her foster father's memory- she would work for STARS instead of standing trial for murder.
Equipment:
-Primary Weapon:  Katana
-Secondary Weapon: Beretta
-Tertiary Weapon: Hand to Hand Combat
-Additional Equipment:
Lockpicking tools (ex: Swiss army knife, key/fingerprint decoder pad for door level security access(also has a remote function for accessing car doors unlock and alarm function,), suction cup/lazer cutter for soft removal of windows), climbing equipment (ex: collapsible grappling hook, rope), Pen Light
-Ammunition Level: Moderate

Skills
B&E Specialist: (Burglary/Car theft Experience:Gang related activities)
She's adept at repelling off buildings or squeezing into tight places, and breaking into vaults, able to determine the best way of getting access to an area- or determine how someone broke into an area.
Performance Style Acrobatics (Circus training blended with Martial Arts)
Ability to nimbly flip out of the way of an incoming attack and deftly climb up walls often without climbing equipment if hand holds and ledges are there. She can walk on a precarious surface, escape from restraints/grabbed, and control a fall so that she doesn't injure herself.
Conventional and Unconventional Weapons TrainingUnarmed, Katana (Expert)
While she specializes in the Katana and unarmed fighting, she has learned sometimes you have to use what's available - so she's gotten pretty good at accessing the best way to use an unconventional weapon (like chairs/etc) to keep from touching an opponent. (wielding/throwing)

@AndyZ: Actually I'm structuring the game so that each chapter will be rather self contained/very different from the last. As such joining between chapter breaks will be more akin to joining a new game rather than one in progress.
