Councilors (9) - A group of important citizens who have banded together in a time of political crisis.  The king has just died, leaving a daughter as the new queen; but she is too young to rule alone.  The councilors (led by an elected Regent) have gathered to protect and advise their new ruler... but they soon learn that there is a rebel faction that hopes to seize the throne.

Rebels (7) - Though the world thinks they are loyal subjects, they know the hazards of having such a youthful ruler, and would prefer to have an adult of their choosing on the throne.  And if this new ruler is willing to reward their support, so much the better.  Each night, they may vote to remove one other player.

Weaponsmaster (1) - This person's skill with weapons is matched only by their loyalty to the Queen.  Once each night, this person may protect one fellow player from harm at the rebels' hands.  The Weaponsmaster can protect him/herself once per game.  They may not protect the same person two nights in a row.  The Weaponsmaster can also save a player from the Alchemist's poison if the target of the poison is being guarded that night.

Historian (1) - No ordinary academic, this person's knowledge of noble geneaologies and history is second to none -- and there is a good deal of useful information to be found in the pages of some books.  Once each night, this person may request to learn one other player's role from the Chatelaine (Valerian).

Alchemist (1) - Practicing the arts of herbs in secret, this player has brewed a sinister potion that can be used once per game, during the night, to poison one other player.  If that person is protected by the Weaponsmaster that night, the ability is wasted and no one succumbs to the poison.  Choose your victim wisely!

Healer (1) - The healer is somewhat the opposite of the Alchemist -- this person has studied herbs with a view to saving rather than killing.  Once per game, this player may choose to save the Rebels' nightly victim.  The Healer will be privately sent the name of the chosen victim for each night; and may then decide if he or she wishes to save that victim.  If yes, no one dies that night at the Rebels' hands; if no, the ability is saved for a later time.  The Healer will not be told who the Alchemist targets, and therefore cannot save that person.

Regent (1) - An elected role.  In the case of a tie in the lynch votes, this person will decide who shall be escorted to Tower Green to meet the headsman's sword.

The court was still officially in mourning, but as usual, meals were still lavish -- after all, appearances had to be kept up.  But this day would bring news of another death, even more shocking than the king's, who after all had been ill for some time.  This time, a young, healthy knight was dead, one Sir Edward; cruelly slain as he slept.  As the advisors gathered for their morning meal, his loss was discovered, and the castle was thrown into turmoil.  The planned business of the day had already been to choose a Regent.  Now that task took on fresh importance.

Elandra

Adorned in black as was the custom while morning the King, Lady Elandra had not heard the Sir Edward’s death until she had joined the others for an evening meal. It was a tragedy and something had to be done to bring order back to the lands. Clearing her throat she voiced her suggestion, “I propose we elect Remiel as Regent.”

sinera

sinera, for one, was happy to see the princess in charge - perhaps now a woman's lot would be more than to just cook, clean and bear a man's babies.

"I think we've had enough of men in charge," she fixes Elandra with a glance. "I vote for LadySky."

Haibane

Lady Haibane was struggling to digest the terrible news of a sudden death in the castle. It was only proper that a regent be appointed as soon as practical so the the Royal Court could again attain stability.

She daintily popped a sweetmeat into her mouth and chewed carefully, considering the discussion around her. She dabbed politely at her lips with a snowy napkin, hearing Sinera's suggestion before leaning forward and looking down the long banquet table, catching the other's glances.

"I agree. My vote also is for LadySky."

LadySky

LadySky blushed uncomfortably at being named for the postition of Regent.

She was all for women gaining rights and more power, however she would be required to wear clothing if she were to take office and everyone knew of her tendency to appear nude quite often.

As she munched lazily upon her morning meal she glanced up and down the long tables, filled with various members of their society. "I believe Moirae would be a good choice."
I dreamed a dreamed, life has killed the dream I dreamed. So....I dream a NEW DREAM!!! never let them see you cry.

Teno

"No, I reckon you would be a marvellous regent, LadySky. Besides, who says you have to wear the outfit all the time?" He winks to the lady as he says this.

Autumn52

Xandi hung her head in mourning, so much death. She agreed with the concensus that a new Regent needed to be elected. She looked at her options and voted for, Remiel.

Mithlomwen

Glancing around at everyone Mith sighed sadly, still in shock and grief at loosing their King.  She pushed the food around on her plate, not really having any appetite at the moment.  "Amberghylles has always been a level headed sort.  I think he would be a good choice to elect as Regent."
Baby, it's all I know,
that your half of the flesh and blood that makes me whole...

Winterborn

Wearing the red and white of his House, Sir the honorable Lord Winter, newly Count Aber and Baron Paert, sat at the table, listening as the others spoke. The food in front of him went untouched except for a shifting his utensils and a sip of the wine out of courtesy;  he had but little dealings with the court before the King's death, but the recently discovered death of his comrade left his stomach churning, all appetite driven from him.

Though young and inexperienced compared with his present peers, he knew it was important to know which way the wind blew. Besides,  it seemed to him that the Lady Sky would be a light hand on the queen, impressing some of the liberal social policies she was so well known for. "My vote is f'rr Lady Sky as well," he said, his harsh northern burr coming through due to his nervousness. Casting a quick glance down the table, he nodded to her, lifting his goblet a little in salute.

Remiel

Lord Remiel of Farthinghamhamham partook in the meal, which was a relatively sombre occasion.  It was a period of mourning for all of Carisbrooke; after all, they had just lost their beloved king.  He had died without an heir, leaving only a daughter and some distant cousins to carry on the family lineage.  The daughter was next in line for the throne, but the word in the town was that some of the very Counselors who had sworn fealty to the king were, themselves, descendants of the king's line, and would not support a young, inexperienced Queen.

Dipping his morsel of roasted pheasant in a  bowl of lingonberry sauce, eating with his fingers as was the custom, he cleared his throat and said, "I believe that Ket is uniquely qualified to act as Regent until the Queen comes of age."

Aiden

Sir Aiden "The Lion of Carisbrooke" entered the halls to the sight of everyone cramming their faces full and squawking over mundane matters. It seemed they had forgotten a defender of the land had been slain and by a cowards hand! A sneer crossed his sharp features as he stood away and listened to them, scoffing at the choices.
"I trust none of you but myself (Aiden)!"
He paced around with trembling hand, doing his best to suppress the demand for bloody vengeance.

Ryven

Sir Ryven set his  wine down after taking a drink.  The day had been filled with word of the death of Sir Edward.  A tragic loss.  Now, a regent would be found among them to help lead in the effort to find the late knight's murderer.

He looked around at the rest of the castle dwellers.  Personally, he thought it could have been any of them, so he did what any knight of the court would do...

"I say make me, regent!"  Ryven

Imogen

Lady Imogen broke off a piece of bread and chewed carefully. Her gaze traveled to each of the advisors in turn, resting finally upon the man bristling with anger. "Lord Aiden, how are we to work together with one who refuses to trust us? I'm afraid that casting a vote your way would be voting our own doom."

She smiled to Ryven and then to the others, wiping her hand on a cloth napkin. "I agree with those who put their faith in Lord Remiel and out of respect for him, I shall support his choice of regent. My vote is with Ket."

Dismounting gracefully from his stallion Country de Montagne flipped the reins to the waiting page.  With a quick shrug he settled his armour, and passed the helmet and gauntlets to his squire.  It had been a fine day at the tournament, and he had won a handsome ransom, though the appeal of jousting seemed to be losing favour in the courts and with the papacy.  But still, he had the glove of his beloved next to his heart and that had inspired him through the day.

The news of the murder of Sir Edward was deeply unsettling.  If we are to appoint a regent we must have a clear head and a steady hand.  Kip, you must become our regent.

Haibane

Lady Haibane placed aside her goblet of wine in shock at hearing certain Knights actually have the temerity to suggest themselves as Regent. Such greed was most unbecoming a gentleman and by itself marked such persons as unsuitable. She remained silent, observing the gathering, hopeful that no-one else would support such dishonourable ideas.

Amberghylles

Lord Amberghylles ate heartily as always, foul news was no reason to make waste of a fine meal after all.  "The choice of regent is important," he remarked, "As these are most uncertain times upon us.  Tis a true pity the King left us no proper heir."

Tipping his head, he lifted his goblet toward Lady Mithlomwen.  "I appreciate your compliment m'lady and I say I think you'd make a most excellent regent yourself."

A female as Regent!  Next we'll be told that the church of Rome is not the true faith.

If the best choice of Regent is to be a woman, then let it be LadySky.

SleepyWei

Lord Sleepywei grimaced and placed down his goblet of wine, as if he had just tasted something terrible. He set a gaze onto the rest of the councilors in silence, quietly deciding who he'd prefer to be the regent. Finally, he sighed and gestured to the one that he decided upon.

"There is really no one here who I think qualifies. But out of all of us, I believe Lady Ket over there would be the best choice."

desert ashes

Really, whyever did they have to meet in the mornings?  Mornings were such a better time for sleeping, not meeting about for God knows what.  Dressed in heavy black veils, her face almost entirely obscured from sight, Moirae let out a slow yawn and gently rubbed at her eyes as she spoke.  What were they voting on this time?  Oh, right.

"Mmm."  Prettily she smiled and nodded to LadySky, in thanks of the vote and to give her own.  There.  That was simple enough.

Ket

Lady Ket listened intently at the banter going on around her as she picked at her meal. Their young queen, left fatherless, the man who was best suited to rule in her stead, now deceased as well. What frightful times they were coming into, frightful indeed.

She felt that the best choice amongst them was Amberghylles, and she stated so with confidence before returning to sitting quietly and listening.

Kip

Kip walked in and tried to think of the personalities of each of those in front of him, trying to work out who would be the most considered, most wise.  In the end, he could only choose Remiel.  The man had shown his power with words previously.
