I believe Protean is the Hidden Ability that Froakie can get, though I don't recall what it does. ^^;

Changes the type to whatever move you use, making Froakie pretty broken.

I'm guessing you get hidden abilities via breeding?

Only if the parent has the Hidden Ability itself, otherwise it is only from the Friend Safari in X/Y (right now, as far as I know).

They recently released the 2DS, which will play 3DS games but not in 3D. They run roughly $129.99 I think.

The 2DS is actually a DS.  It plays 3DS games, but that's because 3DS games are also DS games with a slightly different form format.

That said, I also want one and the Pokemon games.
