Yahoo Removing 3rd Party Support

I was wondering what people are using instead of Yahoo or if they are just getting the Yahoo produced client to keep using it?

I myself, have stopped using Yahoo's IM service but that leaves me disconnected from more than a few people that I do like to talk to.  The Yahoo client does not run very well on my Mac or on my iPhone and I really hate all the ads, that I can't get rid of.

What are others moving to, if anything?
