1935 CE
The continent of Europa is dominated by two superpowers: The autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance in the east and a commonwealth of loosely allied democracies known as the Atlantic Federation in the west. The economies of both powers depend on a precious multipurpose mineral called Ragnite. Its growing scarcity results in the Empire declaring war on the Federation, sparking the Second Europan War. The Empire uses its military superiority to quickly put the Federation on the defensive. Emboldened by their progress and momentum, the Empire decides to invade the neutral Principality of Gallia to seize its rich Ragnite deposits. The border towns fall quickly to the Imperial advance as the regular army retreats and the town watch is woefully unprepared to deal with a full assault. All seems lost for Gallia, but one squad will help turn the tide of the war. Your squad. Squad 7. Move out!

The Proposal: This will be a Valkyria Chronicles game. We will be following the story of the first game, but with a twist; all original characters! Squad 7 will be made up entirely of player characters, so no Welkin, Alicia, Rosie, Largo, etc. We're going to fight this war and win it in our own way. We may have a Valkyria, we may not! The game will focus half on the battles, half on the 'down time', ie; the times when the sevens are relaxing back at camp or headquarters or training. Battles will be freeform with myself acting as the GM and controlling the imperial troops. Do you need to have played Valkyria Chronicles? No! We'll go over everything if the game gets interest and as play begins. For now, think of it as kind of an anime or alternate history take on World War II with a slightly steampunk twist. I'm going to keep this topic open for a few days and see if it gathers enough interest. If it does, we'll post up a character sheet and get Squad 7 moving! For now, here are some questions I'd like to ask of those interested in playing;

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?

2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?

3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)

Meet your CO...

2nd Lieutenant Sarah "Whiskey" Sauer is widely regarded as lazy, slovenly, and a total drunk. She has one of the worst reputations in the militia and an even worse academic record, yet somehow managed to ace the vast majority of the practical exams she took at the military academy. To this day she still holds the speed record for the obstacle course. After finishing at the academy she attempted to join the regular army but was found to be lacking in discipline and had a poor attitude with regards to her superior officers. With nothing left to do, Sarah opened up a bar in her home of Randgriz, where she became noteworthy for serving up stiff drinks and bodily hurling out the door anyone who broke her rules. When EWII broke, Sarah joined the militia and quickly stunned Captain Eleanor Varrot with her brusque attitude, ability to think on her feet and her 'creative' solutions to problems. Promoted and assigned as the leader of Squad 7, Varrot's faith in Sauer is either the greatest mistake she's ever made, or the best idea she's ever had.

Class: Commanding Officer/Shock Trooper
Age: 25
Eyes: Green
Hair: Blonde
Build: Athletic
Height: Tall

"Squad 7, take it to 'em!" - Whiskey

Strengths: Sarah is an extremely capable soldier, making up for her shortcomings in academics with a more well-honed body than her constant drinking and smoking would imply. She is an excellent shot with firearms, an excellent close combat fighter, and has some knowledge of basic first aid. Despite outward appearances, she has a sound tactical mind and while long strategy sessions may bore her she is exceptionally good at thinking on her feet. Her non-standard tactics and plans have a way of giving her an edge in battle. Despite her gruff demeanor, she cares deeply for all the soldiers under her command.

Weakness: Her terrible reputation in the militia and army will have her squad at odds with her until she proves herself in battle. It doesn't help that she can be extremely blunt, lacking almost any sense of tact whatsoever. She's terrible at adhering to discipline and suffers from chronic tardiness. Sarah lacks even the most basic military book knowledge and is totally deficient in the areas of history, science, literature, and geography. She basically has zero knowledge of anything outside of firearms, farming, and alcohol.

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?
While I prefer dice based combat, as I like the gambling aspect, I will play freeform as well.
2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?
Maybe we should make things up as we go; initially, things could be the same, but our characters aren't likely to make the same choices as the characters of the game. The more the differences build up, the farther we'd deviate from the game's storyline, in my opinion.
3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?
I would say stick with animated.
4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)
A simple to moderate complexity dice system that I could come up with for you, if you'd like.

Also, are we going to stick to the classes established in the game, or are we going to have a bit more freedom when it comes to armaments?

I LOVE this idea, both a beautiful setting and theme!

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?
I HATE dice based, with a passion, crossing my fingers that you might pick freeform!

2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?
Unfortunately, I've never heard of this game...

3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?
Personally, I don't mind, all have great sources for anything military or steampunk!

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)
Lots of potential in such an RP for story-heavy missions, maybe some which highlight the plight of the citizens or special missions which focus on individual characters of the squad.

Welcome aboard! If you're interested in play, just follow my character example as best you can. We'll need a tank pilot, and I'd like to see at least one of each class.

If you haven't heard of the game, here's some information for you;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVd_Xf9bMNo

I suppose 'steampunk' is an incorrect term, but the concept is the same. I guess 'ragnitepunk', maybe? Vehicles, some weapons, and even medical tech are powered by ragnite. It's the reason for the Imperial invasion of Gallia as well; the country has rich ragnite deposits.

http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Ragnite

The game is well known for it's unique visual style. It has kind of a sketchbook quality to it, lending it a very interesting visual flair. There are a couple of sequels to Valkyria Chronicles, but they're still on the PSP and Vita, as far as I know, so they haven't been as widely played as the first one, which is a PS3 title. The first game is also on Steam now, and costs $20 USD.

http://youtu.be/p-0RY4TTNwE

The game is a turn-based strategy RPG. You're given a specific number of action points to use each round and can select any character at any time, as many times as you like, though each time you select a character their movement points go down until they can barely advance at all. Some characters also have limited ammo, preventing spamming certain attacks. Once you pick a character, it goes into real time as you move around the map, and enemies react to your movement so it's important to approach from cover unless you're using a high armor class like a Shock Trooper or Lancer. When you fire, the game pauses to let you aim and the results play out. On humans, head shots do critical damage, while vehicles have weak points at the engines (usually in the rear).

Characters can be one of five classes;

Scout: Armed with rifles (with under slung one-shot grenade launchers when promoted), Scouts have the highest mobility of all classes, but are lightly armored.

Sniper: Can kill from extreme range, but have very low movement, low health, and limited ammo. They are excellent at killing exposed enemies, but do poorly against enemy troops in cover.

Engineer: Similar to a Scout, but with lower movement. Engineers can repair the squad's tank, disarm mines, and repair barricades. They have access to the basic rifle. They also carry large medkits, as opposed to the small medkits that all other units carry.

Lancer: Anti-Tank units that carry heavy armor, blast shields, and lances that fire their tips equipped with explosive ragnite warheads. If they flank a tank and hit the engine, they can take it out in a single shot. When promoted, their lances become mortars.

Shock Trooper: Armed with an SMG and more heavily armored, these troops provide good frontline offense. They have decent mobility and health and excel at targeting troops in cover; especially once they get promoted and carry an assault weapon with an under-slung ragnite flamethrower.

Lastly, there's Welkin and Isara. Welkin is the CO, the strategist, and rides around in the Edelwiess, the squad's tank. The Edelweiss is maintained and piloted by his sister Isara. The Edelweiss takes twice as many action points to use, but it is equipped with a mortar, anti-armor shells, and machine gun. It is immune to everything except anti-tank mines, other tank fire, lancer fire, and takes minimal damage from grenades. It's weakness is the engine on the rear. If the Edelweiss is destroyed, the game is over.

http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

I think we'll probably just stick with freeform for our version of the game and skip out on the dice rolling. In ours, Sauer will be the CO, taking up Welkin's role from the game, so that means we still need a tank pilot and at least one player for each class. Multiples are allowed, of course, but I'd like at least one of each so we have a balanced squad. If the game still interests you, let me know! I'm happy to answer any questions you have.

Both sequel games are on the Psp, but only the second one was released out of japan (Which is a shame since the third one has an awesome concept about your squad being a expendable penal legion) Since I can't comment on the third I'll just mention a few differences in the second.

Major difference is the introduction of a new class "Armor Tech" Which take some traits of the Engineer class such as disarming mines. While also being a strictly melee class that uses heavy lancer armor and riot shields to basically give your squad some moving cover. (Which since VC2 has a lot more enter able buildings they were excellent for breaches.)

Besides that the overall concept is a civil war within Gallia in response to "Spoiler tag" where you play a bunch of army cadets trying to keep order. And besides the Armor mech inclusion, and a second line of class progression there isn't a whole lot of difference systematically between the two as far as RP's are concerned.

I'm debating going with a tank pilot role with an engineer subclass (For situations where the tank is out of commission etc) But I also have my eye on Sniper. :)

1st Scout Edgar "Cyclops" Lamont managed to score quite high on his aptitude tests, and even in most of the academic subjects, but was quite bad with history. Additionally, he was found to be very much the opposite of a team player, and one who has difficulty with respecting the chain of command. The only thing that kept him from being rejected is that he really just is that good at being a Scout. Besides that, given the situation Gallia finds itself in, every bit helps.

Therefore, he was placed into Squad 7 along with the other misfits, where he will hopefully do some good for his country.

Edgar earned his nickname "Cyclops" from the fact that he lost his left eye in what he refers to as a training accident, but which he has been extremely cagey with providing details about. Time, place, other people involved... nobody seems to know a thing about this "training accident", and the quiet Edgar is not volunteering any more information than what he's already said. Despite the loss of his eye, he manages to be well above average in marksmanship.

Because of the lost eye, he usually prefers to hide his face behind a ballistic mask, which shows his practical and pragmatic side.

He is very fond of a thirteen inch long double-bladed dagger he carries with him, frequently in an ankle sheathe. In addition to using it for utilitarian purposes, "Cyclops" is quite the accomplished knife fighter.
Class: Scout
Age: 26
Eye: Gray
Hair: Brown
Build: Athletic
Height: Average

"[silent 'throat-slitting' gesture]"--Cyclops

Strengths: A resilient warrior, he is capable of pushing himself without food, water, or sleep for far longer than the average soldier. He's also been in his fair share of fights, so has built up something of a pain tolerance. Despite having lost his left eye, he remains an excellent shot with his rifle, even at long distances. Cyclops is also a very quiet person, not just in that he doesn't talk much, but in that he is very good at sneaking; a skill essential to a scout. Skilled knife-fighter; combined with his stealth skills, he has the potential to be an excellent infiltrator. Cold and logical, shunning emotions, makes him an excellent warrior even as it weakens his ability to be human.

Weaknesses: He lost his left eye in a 'training accident', and because of this, he has no peripheral vision in his left eye, as well as a dampened depth perception ability. He has, to a large degree, learned to compensate for this, but he is still left with a rather large (and literal) blind-spot.  He prefers to work on his own, and when paired together with a group, he tends to suffer, as he becomes more focused on what his allies are doing, rather than what the enemy is doing. Thankfully, this is likely a weakness that can be trained out of him. Relatively deadened emotions keep him from being empathetic to others, which often leads him to chew out others for being "weak".

Since Engineer seems to be the 'support' class, I call Engineer. Why?

But yeah, I like playing the support guys, can you tell?

Gaige Phogea is one of those people that are only Engineers because they're just that damn good. Anyone else with her love of smoking and tendency to defy authority would have been thrown out on her ass a long time ago, but her ability to drag even the most crippled machines back into fighting force kept her in-though, she's been assigned to Squad 7 because no one else wants to deal with her. Put her with the rest of the misfits, they thought.

She's a decent academic, but rarely flexes her intellectual muscle, preferring to work with her hands in the garage-or in the field. In fact, the only time she isn't smoking is when the machines need fixin'. She keeps most of her past to herself.

In combat, she's a half-decent shot with her rifle, but she also carries a kit of tools and medical supplies-just in case someone needs a patch or the tank needs another field repair. She's no fighter, though, and she would prefer to stay behind sandbags.

Class: Engineer
Age: 24
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Build: Slim
Height: A little shorter then average.

Derp, forgot the questionarie.

1: Prefer free form.

2: Honestly, we should do our own thing. Following the plot of the game could be fun, but I'd prefer us to be unique.

3: Well, see my image.

4: Not that I can think of.

Apparently Sarah and Gaige both went to the same tattoo parlor. And the same 'Looking Cool With Cigarettes' class.

Maybe Gaige was a regular patron of Sarah's bar and when Sarah signed up for the militia, Gaige did as well. Gaige would probably be the only person on the squad that knows Sarah and doesn't instantly dislike her, or something.

So, it seemed smoking was the "in" thing for this squad, surprisingly difficult to find! I'm not done yet but I only need to fill in a few tiny gaps, so the general idea is basically there!

Bang, headshot!
Private 1st Class Camille "Snapshot" d'Aubigne is a by-the-book recruit who boasts an impeccable academic record -- top marks in saluting, keeping a tidy uniform, and all that other super-important stuff -- and yet very little in the way of actual field experience. She was well known amongst her colleagues for being an exceptionally keen shot, easily dominating in the firing range, but mostly she was notorious for her patronizing attitude and gall to talk down to superiors. She earned her nickname more for her know-it-all behaviour and near perfect form and presence than her ability to take down targets quickly and efficiently, she rarely had a hair out of place, even during drills. This had many of her colleagues equating her with someone you'd see within a snapshot rather than a uniform. It was this attitude which also had her assigned to squad seven, beneath the most rowdy lieutenant in the army, whether as a punishment, lesson or a bad joke is anyone's guess.

Class: Sniper
Age: 21
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Black
Build: Athletic
Height: Tall

*Sigh* - Camille

Strengths: Camille is the sort of soldier every commander wants, good at following orders, fit and healthy, eager to prove herself, and yet such merits are generally quashed by an annoyingly patronizing attitude. Despite this quirk, she'll rarely move beyond grumbling or questioning an order to outright rejecting it. The private's also quite the acrobatic, able to traverse most types of terrain quite efficiently, whether it's up steep walls, trees or cliff faces, she is adept at setting up her sniper's nest almost anywhere on the battlefield. That said, she's no scout, running is for plebeians -- plus she was horrible at it but mostly it's the "pleb" thing. Otherwise, give her a gun and a target and Camille will shine on the battlefield, both with pistol or rifle.

Weakness: Cigars, wine, and scones, but for her squad's sake, she will survive with cigarettes, water, and rations. Never let it be said that Camille didn't sacrifice for the good of the team! That said, she's not the sort to willingly crawl in the mud or engage in other such soldier-like activities, that's the sort of work reserved for the lesser important shocktroops and scouts, right? As for function on the field, Camille isn't the fastest soldier, or the strongest, she's also extremely arrogant and tends to underestimate her enemies. Last but not least, she has never been shot or stabbed or hurt in any fashion before, so that probably won't end well...

I'm totally interested and will have a character up soon.......I've just got to decide on a class and what sort of person I want the character to be really *chuckles* OR people given I have a knack for playing multiple characters.

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?

I prefer freeform but if you choose it I can do dice systems

2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?

while I say we should do the Major battles mostly in order I also think we should make up battles of our own as well. After all I don't think a war is really composed of that few battles.

3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?

I say let people go with what they want (despite personally having a preference for anime style pics)

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)

I'll let ya know if anything comes up
Psycho Mantis: You must spend every day pretending to act like you're falsely letting on that you aren't not unbetraying someone you don't not purport to allegedly not work for but really do! How do you keep all this shit straight without having an aneurysm?

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?

I prefer a dice based or at least some mechanic that resolves situations. Otherwise snipers will have headshot chains, or lancers doing one shot tank kills.

2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?

Make something up new, but that's just me, since I have played the game some time ago and will be familiar with scenes and situations when they come up.

3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?

Leave to individual taste. For me, anime style.

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)

Hope there will be no Valkyrie on the Squad 7 side? It will just open up to a deus ex machima.
Whatever the outcome, it's on you.

Chrome, eh? Well, when I've used it, it has been a bit ...odd with viewing some pictures from time to time. Julius Eugen "Silver Wraith" von Schwarzthal  is a young man who conceals countless deceits beneath his smiling, if often arrogant attitude. He was originally born into an Imperial noble family of some wealth, holding a duchy, though declining in influence. Not much is known about his past, save that he was a spy, assassin and soldier who defected to Gallia just over a year before the war began, though like with many things about him, that part itself is shrouded in rumour. Earlier in his life, he graduated with honours at an Imperial Military Academy, being renowned for his skill with a gun and his duelling prowess, relying more on intelligence and speed than strength or toughness.

At some point his family acquired some powerful enemies, including a manipulative Imperial Princess. Though this part of his life is particularly murky, Julius survived under suspicious circumstances, despite the disappearance of his mother and older brother, and the public execution of his father after he was implicated in a plot against the emperor, and charged with high treason. What exactly happened to Julius is unknown to most, though it irrevocably changed his personality and view of the world.

Though still not exactly trusted due to his Imperial origins, and his sometimes unstable mindset, his skills are nonetheless recognised as being valuable indeed. Some of the higher ups in the Gallian military see him as a useful if temperamental asset, that will prove useful even if he is to be disposed of. For now, though, he needs to properly prove his loyalty to the country he now serves, as well as his ability to follow orders from troublesome commanders, among other things.

He is prideful, ruthless, bloodthirsty and often arrogant, though he can often change his apparent outside personality as needed. Nonetheless, beneath that lies further complications, with two split personalities contending from time to time. Usually his actions are often calculated and well-thought out, and he is highly perceptive. At other times, he can be perhaps too quick to act. His usual pride can be met at times with an insecure shyness, an obsession, fear and desire to be recognised by those he sees as stronger than himself.

His love for battle can even seems masochistic, licking his own blood and stopping to recognise the pain in his body to further revel in the excitement of battle, though such tendencies may be also relegated to areas other than battle. When it comes to those who've proven their superiority, Julius is more than respectful and eager to obey. He never hesitates to take the shot and may seem inhuman in many circumstances. At times his personality can vary; at some moments, mockingly polite, manipulative and deceitful, at another, seemingly honest, compassionate, honourable and caring.  He possesses both a superiority complex and an inferiority complex, shown in his disgust when being forced to fight a battle he has become bored of, despite his overall love for battle.

He enjoys fighting, especially against opponents he deems worthy, and challenging. He takes pleasure in those who possess overwhelming power, those who can eradicate him from existence in a single strike.  His death is of minor importance in such a situation, though usually he wouldn't consider such a possibility.  As long as the opponent can bring him the pleasures of war, new experiences and knowledge, nothing else matters. Another part of him breaks down when cornered or overpowered, and falls into a strange mixture of joy and despair. He believes honesty to be a naive trait held by the foolish, and trusts no one, accordingly. Even when outnumbered, he remains composed- though sometimes overenthusiastic, adaptable, and calculating, quickly able to adjust to new developments and change his battle tactics. Despite his mental instability, he can rein it in at times, and the more extreme parts take a bit of goading to bring about. On another note, he is a Yggdist with a low opinion of Darcsen.
Class: Sniper
Age: 20
Eye: Grey
Hair: Silvery white
Build: Athletic

"Truly, how exciting..." -- Silver Wraith

Strengths: Quick, agile, skilled in both blade and gun, as shown by his ability at sniping and his expertise with a sword attached to his left arm, though not quite as much in unarmed combat. Quite knowledgeable and intelligent. Good at subterfuge, intrigue and stuff like that/spy/assassin type stuff.

Weaknesses:  Physically weak and not particularly tough, arrogant and overconfident, sometimes rash and prone to unnecessarily seeking out conflict regardless of the danger at hand. Mentally unstable. Due to his origins, he is viewed suspiciously by other team mates. On another note, he gets drunk fairly easily. Lacks faith in others, and is more than likely to discard others underfoot if he sees them as getting in his way.

So I know it's not my place to confirm or deny a character, but I just wanted to throw my opiniosn out there on your character, Izaya.

"his expertise with a sword attached to his left arm". How is the sword attached? Does he actually have a left arm and hand? If not, how does he manage to use a sniper rifle without some serious assistance?

And secondly, it just seems like we have a bit of overlap if Julius is also spy-assassin oriented. Then again, maybe that just means Edgar and Julius will get assigned to work together.

Hmm, I was figuring that one out. Since the character appearance I used (Superbi Squalo from Katekyo Hitman Reborn), looks like he has both hands, and the sword, despite the character in the anime having said sword replace his left arm.
Having further ideas, I think that perhaps his left arm and hand could be a fully articulated metal prosthetic with a sword built in. Wouldn't be unreasonable in a steampunk/ragnitepunk setting, I suppose, eh?

I just looked it up, and it seems that the aforementioned character does have an artificial hand along with his sword (didn't know much about the actual anime, though I plan to watch it).
Anyway...

I suppose, though your guy is a scout rather than a sniper, obviously. And Julius would know more about the empire, since that's where he's from. From your app, I get the idea Edgar doesn't like working with other people. Well, such a pairing would obviously get off to a great start, considering their personalities. Or maybe not.

Hmmm I am considering joining this. Any need for a tanker?

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

I only recently discovered the game thanks to a friend but I love it. I was thinking perhaps of making her not from Galia as some characters were in their bios, just someone who enlisted with Galia to help fight the evil empire cause her own government chooses to remain neutral.

1) Do you want freeform battles or something dice based?

I have never done dice based so I say freeform.

2) Do you want to follow the game's outline (ie; do all the battles in the order they appeared in-game), or make up some new ones?

Both, both is good.

3) Realistic character images, animated images, or let people choose what they want?

I say whatever they want.

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)

Perhaps other countries ally with Galia, adding new technologies and battlefields?

Silk

The problem is Lustful is that there is no other countries, it's just the empire, and the federation, all countries bar galia have either been taken over or joined one of those two. The only reason Galia doesn't is because it's stubborn about it's independence and monarchy, and is only able to fight them off due to excessive levels of rag-nite and a conscription program that makes Israel's look like it doesn't have one.

Are you sure? I was watching a playthrough where one of the characters had a bio entry stating they were from a foreign country.

I might be wrong though so that's fine. A Galian girl is fine.  :-)

Hmm..

Well, I'm fine with Julius being an ex-Imperial, that's a good angle. I just don't like it paired with the whole 'bloodthirsty' and 'kind of crazy' aspects of his character. It kind of stretches the plausibility of who Gallia might enlist and it would make it really, really, really, REALLY hard for anyone in the squad to have a reason to trust him. And Bride, I think Silk was planning on creating our tank pilot.

Oh okay, hmm then I will have to think more on what I would want my character to be.

Izaya Orihara

True enough, mind you, they don't necessarily have to trust him. Though I suppose they would know he does his job well enough in battle.

I wrote up two versions of my character, if people don't mind me playing the Tank Pilot then I will be the 2nd version.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Lilith Kenneth "Maniac" Marshal.  is a young woman who lives in the shadow of her father, a decorated Galian tank pilot who survived being ambushed by an enemy tank group and earned the nickname Maniac for charging ahead at the ambush instead of turning as he was ordered to do, later on earning a medal for bravery. Lilith dislikes the reputation her father earned since it is all anyone wants to talk about, all her own accomplishments were overshadowed and she always carries with her the fear that she isn't as smart as she thinks she is. She fears that anything she ever did was a handout thanks to her father being a war hero and her mother having died giving birth to her.

Being raised by her father all on his own has caused Lilith to act more masculine than she feels. She developed a habit for cursing and cannot tolerate anyone she considers is screwing around when they should be working. She speaks her mind and doesn't always think things through, which has gotten her into more than one fight, only 3 she had ever won.

When the second Europan war erupted and Lilith was called upon to do her part, she did absolutely everything in her power to avoid ending up as a tanker, even if it meant fighting on the frontlines.

Class: Engineer.
Age: 21
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Dirty blonde.
Build: Average
Height: Average

"Stop bullshitting and get to work..." -- Lilith Marshal

Strengths: Pent up anger of hers tends to be released on the battlefield, she doesn't even think about the enemy as people sometimes, just channeling her anger into every shot and movement. Being told tales all her life by her father of the great Galian army has instilled in her a sense of duty to her country, Lilith will always be the last to retreat and considers death a better option to surrender. She loves to work, Lilith hates being idle and will usually be found helping out with repairs or fine tuning things during her downtime whenever possible.

Weaknesses:  Not having ever originally wanted to enter the Military, Lilith is not very fit and tires easily with all the equipment she has to carry. She also has a quick temper to anything she doesn't like, which includes liars, braggers, intolerant idiots and those who don't do their work
.

Other version made due to offer of being the tank pilot given. (and the one I am leaning more towards)

Lilith has always craved the reputation and fame that her father earned since it is all anyone wants to talk about. It is even how her mother and father met. She wanted to be admired and looked upon by others, to have her name on a plaque somewhere, to be famous. It did not help that her mother died giving birth to her, leaving only her prideful and glory hog of a father to raise her and encourage her to make a name for herself.

Being raised by her father all on his own has caused Lilith to act more masculine than she feels. She developed a habit for cursing and doesn't always know when to behave like a civilized person. She speaks her mind and doesn't always think things through, which has gotten her into more than one fight, only 3 she had ever won.

Her father always encouraged her to be strong, even enjoying her rebellious phase as a girl and laughing when she accidentally dyed her hair white and slightly purple with some Ragnite infused hair gel. (there was a massive recall but Lilith had gotten her hands on it before she heard about the recall.) She is usually very friendly, if abit rude, and social. She has a habit of budding her nose in where it doesn't belong and not caring about the consequences.

When the second Europan war erupted and Lilith was called upon to do her part, and thanks to some old ties from her father, she has been given the chance to be a tank pilot like her father.

Class: Tank Pilot.
Age: 21
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Dirty blonde (was accidentally dyed permanently white.)
Build: Average
Height: Average

"When those imps hear my name, they will tuck tail and run..." -- Lilith Marshal

Strengths: Lilith has little fear of self injury (except for burning alive) in her quest for glory and will rush head first into a fight and be the last person to retreat. She has a strong admiration for her father and strives to be like him, constantly practicing and training to be a better tanker, she even wears a leather jacket like he did. Though she hopes to one day outdo him and this shows in her nearly unbreakable moral.

Weaknesses: She carries a deep fear of flames, as a girl Lilith once played with a match and burned two of her fingers, giving her a hesitation in being near open flames. While she is rather rough around the edges she has a large soft spot when it comes to civilians. Having grown up without a mother she cannot bear the thought of a child growing up without a parent due to her actions, this will cause her to hesitate should her actions be putting civilians in danger or will disobey orders to ensure the civilian's safety.

I'm cool stepping back if someone else wants to pilot the tank, I was mostly doing it because we needed one. :)

Drake Valentine

That is shame, other games had more variety options for classes, especially three that lead to different class paths, but I think two did similar. I just couldn't get much into the second one, but the third one is another story.

This seems like fun.  And considering I just finished playing through the PSP VC game, I'd be more than up for it...granted, this covers the time of the first game, but I'd be cool with it.  To MissFire, the GM: my answers for the four questions are forthcoming.  I just need a little time to formulate them properly.

When will we know if enough interest has been gathered? Should we try and tell our friends on E about it to get more interest?  :P

Here are my two characters:
Serina "Rabbit" Dougless is a girl who lives in a small town a few miles south of the Naggiar plains who spent most of her free time growing up either playing in the trenches that stretched far across the plains to the north of her home or out hunting with her parents. She was never the best at long range precision shooting but she was alright shooting a fair distance. She loves hunting because it gives her a thrill. Her parents were both soldiers during EW I in fact it was during the war that they had met. Serina hopes that she too can find someone of her own someday.

When the Empire moved into Gallia and started moving through the country her parents told her to pack every thing she considered valuable and they fled to Randgriz hoping they would be safe there. Serina however signed up for the Militia in hopes of making her parents proud and also in hopes of saving the country she calls home. She favors a good solid rifle over the fragile sniper rifles or the overly zealous machine guns. She has no talent for working with machines though so engineering is not a good career choice for her.

Class: Scout
Age: 23
Eye: purple (burgandy?)
Hair: red
Build: Athletic
Height: Average
Rank: Private

"You want me WHERE?!.........WHEN?!!! EH??!!!"- Serina "Rabbit" Dougless

Strengths: She is extremely athletic and good at running long distances which makes her good for scouting (also part of the reason behind her nickname). She's knowledgeable in the construction and usage of trenches due to her spending so much time in them during her childhood. She's a decent shot though there are others who are far better at it than she is. She is also paranoid and constantly observing everything around her (yet another reason for her nickname)

Weaknesses: She is extremely shy and fidgety around people she doesn't know and is actually easily startled and quick to run (the last reason for her nickname). She is easily pushed around especially by superior officers.

Harold "Hammer" Armstrong Is a large but kind Darcsen male who grew up in the mining area of Fauzen. He is a rather gentle giant of a man who much prefers peace over war but he also believes that a fight is unavoidable this time. He escaped from the slave camps of the Imperials at Fauzen in order to join up with the Gallian forces to stop the Empire and free his fellow miners. He has tolerated countless abuses throughout the years due to his heritage but true to the Darcsen teachings he has never once struck back until now.

Class: Lancer
Age: 33
Eye: dark
Hair: black
Build: muscular
Height: massive
Rank: Sargent

"So......it is unavoidable then? that is such a shame"- Harold "Hammer" Armstrong

Strengths: his massive physical frame and strength makes him good for carrying large and heavy objects as well as acting as a shield for smaller comrades. He is skilled with his anti-tank lance and is good at picking out their weaker points so that he is sure to do major damage.

Weaknesses: He is large and slow moving but also hard to hide making him a prime target for just about anything that spots him. His heritage makes it hard for him to always aim and kill others.

(I am aware that he has a small character bio but he is a relatively simple man)
Psycho Mantis: You must spend every day pretending to act like you're falsely letting on that you aren't not unbetraying someone you don't not purport to allegedly not work for but really do! How do you keep all this shit straight without having an aneurysm?
Revolver Ocelot: *shrug* Practice.

Freeform.

Eh. I'm very slowly working my way through the PC version, so I don't have a strong preference.

It looks like this decision has already been made.

4) Do you have any ideas for things we should add? (ie; plot elements, game systems, etc.)
Nope; I'm useless and uncreative at the moment.

PFC Ada Jaeger
The daughter of a writer and an astronomer, Ada displayed an affinity for athletics and intellectual pursuits during her education. Ada was vacationing in one of the larger cities on the Gallian/Imperial border when hostilities broke out, and served as a partisan in the ensuing holding action. The intensity and brutality of streetfighting left its mark on her, turning the previously optimistic futurist into a ruthless, alcoholic pragmatist. After being successfully evacuated and drafted, Ada was assigned to Squad 7.

She acquired the nicknames 'Bishop' and 'Princess' as a result of her outspoken atheism and subtle distaste to the monarchy (which becomes less than subtle when inebriated). Whether she hates the names of finds them amusing largely depends on who's calling her by it.

Although not much to look at in her uniform, she is very obviously a soldier with it off, and is prone to bragging about her 'girl abs' when inebriated.

Class: Shock Trooper
Age: 25
Eyes: Blue/Grey
Hair: Short, Straight, Black
Build: Runner, small-chested
Height: 165cm / 5' 5" / Average

"We're surrounded; the bastards can't run away this time!"
- Ada Jaeger

Strengths:
Proto-traceuse (freerunner). While not as fast as a scout, she's capable of bringing heavy firepower to where it's least expected.
Competent marksman and tougher than she looks. Could've been a Scout or Sniper, but was ultimately trained as a Shock Trooper. Proficient with machine guns and rifles.
Experienced in urban combat/street-fighting and hand to hand. Knows how to strip down a lance or mortar so it can be used as a satchel charge.
Surprisingly patient.

Mixed:
University educated (cosmology). An intellectual and an 'artist'.
Imperial hater. Tendency towards excessive bloodthirst when in combat.
Favors simple, reliable and durable weapons over complex and heavy ones.
Fancies women. Ineptly.

Weakness:
Possibly the only non-smoker in the squad.
Cannot hold her alcohol. May or may not be able to sing.
No supporter of the Monarchy. Suspected anarchist.

Notes
Atheist thing is mostly so the 'Bishop' nicename makes sense. Most callsigns and the like are not complimentary (instead serving as a reminder of how you fucked up and not to do that again), but I've always liked the name 'Bishop'. Blame Aliens and CONSORTIUM.

EDIT: Wait, fuck, the CO is named Sarah. Hang on, let me find a new name.
