Hello everyone and all.  I was just trying to gauge interest in a futuristic monster/tentacle themed game.  It would be freeform, no real system but characters would have a strength rating as a general guide for peron vs. person/monster situations.  The Space 3E part (explore, expand and exterminate) would be trying to gain control of various locales for resources to use against the opposite team, sort of an RPG/Space Board Game mix.  The basic plotline would be as follows:

It is the 31st century.  Early in the 21st century on Earth it was determined that men were to blame for poor condition of the world. Slowly but surely over time, women came to displace men in positions of power.  Eventually laws were passed banning men from world leadership, then from education and eventually all rights were stripped from them altogether.  Now, they are used for menial/manual labor, entertainment, pleasure and of course, bodies to fill armies.  Earth flourished, space exploration ensued and the women of earth came to colonize the stars.

Still, women found it may not just have been men who had lust for power.  As the human race, now led by women, expanded outward from Earth, some of the more ambitious became harder and harder for the Earth government, unified in the 26th century, to control.  Soon outright fighting between Earth and her colonies started taking place.  A most ambitious woman named Amanda Starr led an outright revolution against Earth.  She was not a kind person, however.  Fed up with Earth's huge bureaucracy and laws, laced with outdated concepts of morality (not to mention heavy taxation) she forged a rebel totalitarian movement with her as supreme leader.  She and the movement was quickly defeated, not wanting to seem cruel or create a martyr, Amanda Starr was exiled with her closest followers to the depths of space and banned from returning to Earth.

Though the Starr Rebellion was found distasteful to many, the urge for freedeom against Earth and the control of their own destinies was fueled by this incident.  Soon, many of the furtherest colonies from Earth declared independance, forming a loose alliance of defense named the Free Planets Alliance.  The FPA also did something unthinkable back on Earth.  They gave rights back to men and once again men and women were working, playing, loving and fighting side by side.  Earth sent out more fleets to put down the FPA but found them a more cunning and thoughtful foe, using 'terroist' tactics to keep Earth at bay.  The conflict between the FPA and Earth lasted centuries, switching between 'hot' and 'cold' wars every few decades.  The FPA made many gains and ultimately transformed Earth into a more militaristic culture and government as this new order began to push back the FPA.

Earth's past would come to haunt them.  Amanda Starr and her rebels had survived in the depths of space and reappeared in the 29th century commanding new and powerful technology.  They were the Starr Empire now, small in number but strong.  It seems they had discovered an ancient ship relic floating in space that once belonged to a race of creatures called only the Progeny.  It took many years for the descendants of Amanda Starr to crack the Progeny's technology.   When they did they came to the realization that the Progeny originated from the area of space around Earth and that much more lies to be discovered there.  What exactly became of the Progeny is unknown but many discoveries of Progeny archeological sites found alien terrors and monsters infesting these sites.

The Starr Empire launched a surprised attack against both the FPA and Earth.  Once the origins of the Starr Empire's technology was discovered, a frantic race began to find more.  A significant portion of FPA and Earth worlds fell or joined the Starr Empire before they could turn back the tide.  The FPA and Earth first declared a truce, then an alliance against the Starr Empire.  The two sides fought to a standstill before a final, uneasy peace could be delcared.  Though the FPA and Earth are still allied, years of conflict left them untrusting.  Now the race for Progeny continues, each side hoping to gain an advantage over the other.

Into this situation, you arrive.  Part of an advanced scout team you are sent to an unexplored section of galaxy.  The area, consisting of several star systems, is thought to be ripe with the remains of Progeny worlds.  The stalemate back home has left you with only limited resources to start with and you know nearby explorers from your enemies have come.   Can you tame this area for the glory of your people?

So if there is enough interest, players would pick sides, pick a commander, pick a few resources and play against each other for control of the 'board'.  Could there be some intrigue?  Promises of power? Backstabbing?  Who can find the Progeny technology or discover what secrets this race has, all the while avoiding the monstrous guardians?

Let me know if anyone thinks this sounds fun and I'll see what I can do.

Sounds excellent, Bob. I'd be up for it.

Ever read any of the 'Naked Earth' stuff by Ferres? I just mention it because it has a future human empire consisting only of women facing off against hideous alien monsters (although in that case the monsters - Plague Beasts - used to be men before some kind of bioweapon catastrophe took out everyone with a Y-chromosome). Plenty of tentacle sex though.

Yup, that was part of my inspiration.  Incidently, male characters are more then welcome in this game, though most likely they would have to be on the side of the FPA.

Is this still in the works?

I might be interested... provided some of the tentacle creatures have some coverage/ bondage / entrapment/ enslavement intelligence (sex is more or less odd slimy gravy for naieve moi, but effects and manipulation, now, yum ;)

Zeekergamer

Well that is two interested so far, if I can get a couple of more it'll be on.  Specfic details on what the creature's do will depend on the players so its pretty wide open at this part, bondage/entrapment/enslavement would be part of the game.  And if the players are crafty, maybe not just things the monsters do.

I might be interested, but would not want to be one of the monsters.

Still interested, if anything's happening.

I probably wouldn't do a monster, either, unless (just maybe) there are multiple characters / player.

Celestial Goblin

I'd be interested to play this.
You said that we'd pick a commander and a few resources.
Does that mean i can play a woman? Does that mean i get a crew and ship of my choice?
I would create an earth woman that's a hotheaded commander known for her disregard for danger and military discipline. Her crew would be a crack squad of roguish females very much like her.
There would be a boarding party/exploration team made of male soldiers.
The ship itself would be a small vessel for hit-and-run operations.

C'mon Bob, that's five of us...

The main cast would comprise the commander and command crew.  I would ask you work it out amongst yourselves as to who would be the interpid leader.  Cross playing genders is allowed.  We could have all the players on one side working against the other two factions who are totally NPC, plus the monsters (also NPCs).  Or multiple teams with NPCs rounding out the crew if needed.  Since you would be the leaders of the various factions in the game, there will always be 'red shirts' (to borrow a phrase) as needed.  With some limitations based on your resources.  The relative strength of your ship will be based on your resources, details when I get the game board up.  This is not a dice game!  Characters, ships... whatever will have relative strength values for role playing purposes and the outcome of larger scale 'off camera' events or as a deciding factor in player vs. player/monster outcomes.

Well six players.  Alright, if everyone would PM me with their character ideas, even if you posted them here it is just easier for me to manage in PM, and the faction they would like to play in, I'll start to get this game together.

Ok, i don't want to play the captain then, i'll be an exploration team leader.
I can be of any faction but on a second thought, prefer FPA.
I'll flesh out my char after i know what others play, ok?

kylie

Anything we need to know about the tech level of this game?  Is it sort of like Aliens or anything?  Is there magic per se in the air that people can grab?  I don't have a particular stake in this, I'm just probing to see what might be possible.

Zeekergamer

The technology level would be that of the movie Aliens, perhaps a bit more advanced.  Except the Starr Empire, which has had time to utilize Progeny technology so they would have a few gadgets of superior technology, though they would be incompletely understood.   No magic.

Zeekergamer

I've only heard from three people so far, therefore I'm still waiting a bit before moving forward.
Tentacle Sex, WOO!

Celestial Goblin

Who do you mean as the three persons?
I'd still be interested in this game, i've finished GM-ing a Warhammer-like dungeon crawl today and a D&D game i'm playing seems to be halted.
I can describe my character now, yet i prefer to read what others concot.

kylie

I've sent in a Japanese Earth gal who pilots the big machines and scorns the big men...

But if everyone waits for everyone else, it's gonna be a long time.

Zeekergamer

Well there is Kylie's character, someone who wants to play a tech/engineer type person, and someone who has expressed interest in becoming a commander, a strong female leader marine type.  All in all no one seems to have a real preference on which faction they want to play, so I would suggest everyone plays for Earth with the other teams being NPCs.

Celestial Goblin

I'm completeing my scout/fighter gal from earth. I'll pm you in a few days.

indarkestknight

Interesting... I'd be in. What weapons are allowed/feasible to use?

kylie

If it's like Aliens, I'm guessing some slightly hyped up versions of contemporary weapons.

Geez this one is setting up slow.  Poke, poke.  Heh.

Max

Hm, would like to play in this game, if there are still openings and the game is still on.  Perhaps an Earth male heavy weapons specialist?
"Are you into whips and chains too?"
"No, chainsaws."  (just kidding)
