The Great Triangle

I'm interested in playing or running a game of Exalted.  I'm not quite sure what I'd like to play, but I have a few ideas about how I'd run a game.  I'd probobly run a game in a variant setting based on Evangelion, with characters piloting hellstriders which occasionally go berserk.  (although I'm also interested in running a Sidereals game in which the PCs try to accomplish incredibly strange missions while working at cross purposes.)

Is anyone else interested in playing or running Exalted?

I believe there are a couple of Exalted games already on the go, so hopefully you should get some interest. Not sure about Warstriders as Evangelion though.

You had me till I saw Evangelion...to put it charitably, I dont care for that anime. That said if you want to do a different style of Exalted game I would be interested

I'm always interested in an Exalted game.  I've only played in one campaign, and unfortunately it ended before we got to Exalt, so I don't have any experience playing AS an exalted.  We started out as nonheroic mortals, made our way up to being heroic mortals, then the game died when we lost players.

Hellstriders basically are Evangelions, you know.

I'm not particularly an Evangelion fan but I'd be interested in playing Exalted.

Neither of the ideas mentioned particularly intrigue me, but I am interested in playing Exalted.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

If people wanted, I could probobly do a mixed circle game set in the Scavenger Lands, with the premise of going from town to town righting wrongs, and trying to stay under the radar of Lookshy and the Wyld Hunt.  The available PC types would be solars, lunars, and sidereals.  I'd use the following character creation method:

9 dots of backgrounds.  Orichalcum artifacts and magitech cost 2 extra dots (not cumulative).  This surcharge is reduced by 1 dot for every 2 dots you have in the Savant and Backing (Gold Faction) backgrounds.  6 or more combined dots in these two backgrounds does not discount such artifacts further.

So you aren't allowing the Scroll of Heroes, specifically for the Merits and Flaws chapter?

Also, I had an idea for a backup character of the old campaign I was in.  The storyteller thought it was a neat idea, but you might think it's too 'silly' or something.  I was going to make what was essentially a luchadore.  A bare handed fighter focusing on grappling.  The character I had before, I was never able to really come up with any stunts for him, cause he focused on archery, but I thought with the luchadore, I could wild and crazy with him.

That's rather smart of him.

The Ability minimums seem...kind of strange, though.

They're to cover basic character abilities and keep min/maxing from being too extreme.  :-)  For the solars, they represent abilities granted by the power of the exaltation.  For the lunars, they represent abilities taught by the silver pact, or acquired through the flux of being casteless.  For the Sidereals, they represent an expanded version of the charms needed to pass the celestial civil service exam.

And a luchador sounds like a perfectly fine sort of character to play.  You could probobly use solar hero style or terrestrial hero style to make your concept, depending on taste.  I'm not allowing scroll of heroes, but I am allowing wyld mutations for solars and lunars, which might help you get some extra bonus points or cool powerz should you want them.

Awesome.  His motivation or whatever it's called, will be to grapple with, and win against Tyrant Lizard one on one.  Unless at this power level he already can.  In which case it'll be some other creature.

At the level of epic I like running, you'll have to put your motivation against a 3rd circle demon or Elemental Dragon.  :-)  You could also try to out wrestle Octavian, although that's a bit cheatery.

Now, should I make this guy a Solar or Lunar?  As I said before, I don't have any experience with either.  When I came up with this concept, I made him up as a heroic mortal using the Scroll of Heroes.

The Great Triangle

Your concept would probobly work best as a solar, likely Dawn caste or Zeinth caste, although if you want to work in shapeshifting you could create your character as a lunar.

I'll go ahead and go with Solar, simply cause it's probably easier for a newb.  I'll probably be able to build my character on my own, up to the charms section.  That'll I'll probably need some help with.

The Great Triangle

So here's some plot ideas I've come up with.  I'll use whichever one people find most interesting to play:

-Every month under the new moon, a village dissapears, leaving no trace, not even a shadowland or wyld taint.  Coincidentally, demons are suddenly becoming much more agressive in resisting binding during summonings.

-Ten dark riders rampage around the scavenger lands, causing as much terror and devastation as they can.  The dark riders ride on skeletal horses in soulsteel barding, wearing soulsteel articulated plate themselves.  The screams of the innocent lives in their armor and weapons can be heard long before they arrive on the scene, yet never long enough to make sufficient preparations to ensure survivors.

-A new drug called Fluid Karma is becoming wildly popular in the scavenger lands, particularly nexus.  The drug gives one a euphoric high, and has practical functions.  It comes in five varieties; Red, which makes a person immune to pain and increases combat prowess, Yellow, which grants boundless energy and makes a person tougher, Green, which grants insight and improves memory, Blue, an aphrodesiac which acts as a social lubricant, and Purple, which greatly improves prayer and can enlighten a mortal's essence.  The only problem is, Fluid Karma induces mutations at an alarming rate, and seems to fray the very fabric of creation, letting the wyld in.

The charm packages are designed to help with initial charm selection, by ensuring that all characters will have some kind of effective defense to keep them alive.  Going forward in designing your character, the main choice is whether you want to use Terrestrial Hero style or Solar Hero style for your wrestling, although you could also use Lunar Hero style.  (hero styles tend to be about grappling)  If you wanted to be a little kinky, Infernal Monster style also applies, although you could get many of the benefits of the style by simply training in athletics charms like Strength Increasing Exercise.

Terrestrial Hero style is in the Dragon Blooded book in the martial arts chapter, Solar Hero style is in the back of the charms chapter of the Exalted core, and Lunar Hero style is in the back of the charms chapter of the Lunars book.  (I think you can guess where Infernal Monster style is.)

Hmmm.  I'm thinking Dawn caste would suit him best, but I don't think that the three dots in War you require would fit him, since he's a wandering luchador.

The three dots in war are a gift from the Unconquered Sun.  All dawn castes are brilliant tacticians, and know how to handle themselves in a mass combat situation.  You'll thank me if you get bum rushed by a legion, thanks to the mass combat ability cap.  :-)

Ahh, okay.  I can understand then, if they're a gift directly from the US.  I just couldn't see him learning it normally as a luchador.

Tonalberry

Also, I'm guessing Bureaucracy is also a gift from the UCS?

Tonalberry

Are there any artifacts in books other than Wonders of the Lost Age and Oadenol's Codex?  I'm thinking about making him have either a Prosthetic of Clockwork Elegance, pg. 71 of Wonders of the Lost Age, or a set of Discreet Essence Armor, pg. 80 of the same book.  The Prosthetic would be more for adding extra flavor to his backstory, and the DEA would be so he has some protection, without having to wear actual confining armor.  Plus, as a luchador, he would see it as dishonorable to wear armor during a match, and the DEA would be for real combat.  But I was wondering if any of the other books have artifacts that I might find useful for this character.

The Great Triangle

Dreams of the First age also has some artifacts in it, and Scroll of Kings has the high end toys that one buys with high levels of resources.  Glories Most High has an artifact or two scattered about its pages, while Scroll of Fallen Races has a few odd and specialized toys.

Manual of Exalted Power: Infernals has a rather extensive section on the magitech favored in hell, while Abyssals has a section on using zombies as body armor, prosthetics, and other fun equipment.

And of course, the artifacts in the core book, but that goes without saying, eh?

Thanks, I'll check those out.  Right now I've got a couple of dots in Resources, Mentor, and Face.  He's going to be a somewhat successful, well known wrestler.
