Well, now that we found the planets, we have 1000 years to relocate there. At least, if Hawking is to be believed...

Some news from Poland:

1. Polish Ministry of Health has just effectively destroyed the emergency contraception in Poland. We've had *one* contracteptive that worked after the coitus and that could be bought quickly at a pharmacy in a case of emergency. Recently, the Ministry of Health changed the law and now a woman needs to go to a gynecologist and get a prescription to buy the pill.

Which means that if a woman gets roofied or raped, she has almost zero chance on buying the pill on time and saving herself from pregnancy. The pill is effective up to 72 hours after the coitus. Considering the state of Polish health service, getting a proper prescription for it in such a small time might just not be possible...

But the Minister of Health is not concerned about this. What he *is* concerned about, is that - supposedly - the pill is being bought in large quantities by the teens. Even though he has actually no data that suggest that this kind of thing is happening. He admitted that fact himself. But he's putting restrictions on the pill nevertheless...  >:(

2. Since the new year's start, we're having cases of large amounts of trees being cut down. It's all because of the new law introduced by the Ministry of Enviroment, which really loosened the regulations on tree cutting. The damage being done to the greenery in the country right now is so infuriating that even the PiS government seems to be on the verge of admitting "We screwed up".

Aside from the Minister of Enviroment himself, that is. He says that everything is fine and dandy. But he's the guy whose other activities at his post involved making life really easy for hunters (at the expense of protecting the animals), fighting *in favour* of extensive tree cutting our last natural forest, as well as making claims that wind power is harmful to enviroment. In contrast to coal power, which is excellent. *head desks*

3. The PiS leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, made news today, as during his speech in the parliament he made a claim that he and his government are "the masters".

Specifically, in one of his speeches, he said that the government has not and will not use force against the opposition. One opposition MP cut in with a bitter remark of "Oh, such a kind master you are!". In response, Kaczyński proclaimed: "Yes, we are the kind masters, because we *are* the masters!".

Not sure whether to laugh or cry...  ::)

Well, I guess they won't be starting to use that term anytime soon, but... the truth is, Kaczyński already *has* the political position akin to that of a head of a Communist party in the old Soviet block states.

Technically speaking, he's an ordinary MP, but he actually controls the Prime Minister, the President, the current head of the Constitutional Tribunal, the state media... All of these people answer to him. He's the guy who runs this country and he isn't even pretending it's not so anymore...

I am so excited about this.

Not only one, but -three- planets within the Goldilocks zone!
That is amazing news, because it means it may be far more common than thought at first.

I cannot wait for the Webb Telescope to be up, so we can take a look at the chemical makeup of the planets, and see what they say!

It's roughly 40 light years away (39 and change). So a 4-year journey would require us to develop a means of traveling at 10*C.
