Aye, Heroes of Battle. Dread Commando gives ini bonus to allies and gain less armor penalty from using heavier armors and are generally stealthy warriors (with sudden strike feature also in). 5lvl PrC.

Anyways I assume though your using mithril breastplate at least get the bonus feats from ranger to use :). Anyways I myself find no bad from that concept and interesting choice of animal companion.

Snake

#76
6 levels or variant Ranger (from Complete Warrior) to gain +10' movement instead of spells (without wisdom bonuses, can't cast anyway)

2 levels of Fighter (for the twobonus feats to qualify)

4 Dread Commando

Then feats by lvl to add flavor.

1- At Home in the Deep (Negates magical Darkness as the spell "ebon eyes") (From Drow of the Underdark)
3- Weapon Finesse
6- Spring Attack
9- Natural Bond (Makes animal companion stronger) (From Complete Warrior, gives a +3 lvl  bonus to companion's abilities)
12- Weapon Focus (Shortsword)

Still don't know how much i have to play with in terms of GP. But yeah a set of Dark Elven Chainmail (bonus to hide checks when viewed in darkvision, counts as mithral armor.)

Zaer Darkwail

You have gold of 14th level char, I had mentioned it somepoint I think how much it is. 200,000gp is for matron mothers to build their houses.

Snake

You did but it was in a big block of text and I got confused *feels stupid*

esclavage

Well, I did want to post my link to my character sheet for my Matron Mother.  It's still largely undone, but I figured some activity might be helpful if we still planned on doing this thread.  I'll have a bit more time tomorrow to finalize my sheet and begin to layout the House design, but I did want to see if there was still any interest.

If not, I just might do it anyways and store it up for a chance to use at a later date.   :-)

Yeah, I'm still working on the over all character of mine. Having a bit of trouble deciding if I was to be full or half drow. Being male I'm already pretty much bottom rung, so I don't see what so bad about being a little lower on the ladder. What I do know is that most of my base levels will be swashbuckler and then some other levels of something that gives sneak attack for the daring rogue feat.

Snake

If it's a "city" can we be a race other than Drow? I was thinkin gFey'ri (with an ability to alter themselves into any humanoid race indefinately and suffer no penalties for it. They are just as powerful as normal drow (standard +2 LA)

Zaer Darkwail

You mean fey'ri from Races of the Faerun? Well up to GM. Here is link for fey'ri lore for Krayz to look at;

http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Fey%27ri

It is FR related but it can be thinked same as 'surface elf tiefling' approach. They have alter self limited to humanoid forms only so they could act to be drow if the fey'ri has ring of drow blood (so it can mimic spell-alike abilities of the drow also).

Anyways so far as I know Krayz prefers this is drow game in a drow city with a drow characthers.

Snake

True but a fey'ri can have darkness as a spell-like ability as well as charm person, suggestion and one more without having a +3 LA. then add "fiendish bloodline" to get protection from good 3/day and Bane 1/day :p

But you're right, we should respect teh GM's wishes on this one.

ulthakptah

So from what I'm getting right now esclavage is going to be the only female player, and therefore is the mother matron, and the rest of us are her four male underlings?

Zaer Darkwail

If no further matron mother candidates show up then it means Krayz needs npc rest of them while players gather under single house that case scenario.

Krayz

Fey'ri is fine. As long as a race/class is reasonable within a relatively cosmopolitan drow city, it's an acceptable character choice.

Ok, that can open quite few races then and half-drows are also available. Good to know :).

Snake

Well what I got is a "blaster" sorcerer. XD

Zaer Darkwail

Sorcerer is good blaster and so would be focused evoker specialist wizard. But my own preferance would go to sorc/warlock/eldrict theurge approach. EB gives endless source blasting power (and sniping) while sorc could hold some bigger guns and buff/utility spells.

Snake

well he's also a spellwarp sniper from complete scoundrel so he can turn big blasts into narrow beams :3

I've updated my character sheet for my Matron.  I still need to pick out a few magic items for her to use up the 14th lvl character gold, but I think I've mainly got what I want.  Anyone is free to take a look through it and make any suggestions as needed.

Then, I still need to layout the details of my cohort from my Leadership and begin to build the House d'Szoessen.  Once again, any initial input would be helpful as it looks like we might all be under the same house with me at the helm.   ;D

That is going to be one scary matron....

It's hard to compete with that. Particularly for someone like me. I tend to play neutral or good types.  The only char I could manage as a house leader would be a male that's subjugated the females of it but keeps one in power as a figurehead.

ulthakptah

I think I'm going with the half drow. What book is it in, or is it just a half elf?

esclavage

A quick Google search seems to point to the Forgotten Realms book for a half-drow.

And I think it'd be apropos to start scheming plots/story ideas as well.  Of course, I'm still holding out for more female drow to get involved since the power struggle will be where the excitement is at in terms of the politics.   :-)  That or Krayz will have his work cut out for him in running multiple NPCs to stimulate a whole city.   :D

150,000 gold is a lot to blow. Is it okay if we use the magic item creation rules for custom items? Like adding the enchantments of two items to to the same by pay x1.5 on the least costing enchantment. Or making an item with a constant spell effect?

Zaer Darkwail

I think it is okay but GM will need approve any custom made items or combinations.

Anyways good matron there esclavage :). Altough even if I would easily point out which domains you got you should list them somewhere.

Anyways half-drow is same as half-elf but instead low-light vision they get darkvision to 60'ft.

Krayz

With Zaer being right on approval being required, that's fine, ulthak.

Speaking of, Zaer, I need to ask you a favour. Since, on the one hand, I'll be GMing, while on the other I'll be playing, I was wondering if you'd mind serving as a mini-GM of sorts for me; the character I'm going to be playing has a lot of room for maximizing, and I don't want to have too many "coincidental advantages" that are just unrealistic. So, do you mind serving as a voice of reason for me in that regard?

ulthakptah

Well the two spells that I wanted for a constant duration is Critical strike and Wraithstrike. According to the DMG Critical strike should cost 8,000 to be continuous and Wraithstrike should be 48,000.

As for combining items it would probably be just putting those two enchantments on the lowest costing magic items I have.

Snake

Half-drow can be found at that tailend of "drow of the underdark" too. so they can get a feat that gives them drow spell-like abilities, light blindness and all that without the LA because it doesn't alter their ability scores.

I'm still wondering about the possibilties of a male leader. It does say in that same book that it CAN happen if a matron has been a bit cursed and only has sons or something. There's still hope for a replacement if any of them have daughters. the male serves as kind of a regeant for the House.

I was going to also think of a kind of "spellcasting" corps similar to Bregen D'arethe but specializing in magical aid intstead of physical... Thoughts?

Nah combine Wraithstrike with Deadly Precision. that's alot of damage at one time. :3
