Well, the red colour does have to stand for something...

Oh, and we could mount an expedition, if you're interested. We'd need wooden stakes, a copy of 'Das Kapital', pith helmets and means of transportation. Hiring an elephant would be a good start. After getting to where the phenomenon takes place, we'll hopefully start to mysteriously dissapear.
