I think I'll have to agree with DD on this one. Not a huge fan of the modern idea, though I'll go with whatever.

I saw Tales in the title, and I SO hope you mean the games such as Tales of Destiny 2 :D Honestly that's the only one I've played in length out of all the games listed, but I am still VERY interested :) I think I have a (very) basic understanding of what the other games are like.

Ummm... my vote is for fantasy with steampunk / magic-based technology.

YES!  I vote for this too!

I didn't mean a specific one just the general idea really. Ok looks like it's fantasy, what sort of characters will we be having? Unless anyone else wants it I'll have my main (heroine) be the one that needs protecting. She's not a powerful fighter, nor is she a mage but she'll do.

Man, I forgot to bookmark this thread :x

>Glyphs

That . . . gave me an idea that's a little different, if you don't mind me just throwing it out there to see what you guys think about it. Glyphs I envision as sort of magical tattoos on the body, usually on one limb or the back, in specific patterns depending on what they're for. On their own they give you a boost of abilities in certain ways (Like what a character's Class in traditional fantasy-y things does) and a couple of abilities. The way to maximize their usefulness is to find special crystals (i.e. materia-ish system) that you can place into the Glyphs, increasing the size of the design/changing the colors/etc and granting more abilities (i.e. spells/techniques).

The BBEG figured out a different way to use them, i.e. putting multiple Glyphs on at the same time, and (rightly) believes that with all the Glyphs on he'd become immortal (Which is probably true, considering that's basically taking ALL THE LEVELS AND CLASSES yeah?).

Ideas, they come to me.

>Characters

Well, I don't usually cross-play, so I'll go with a female. No idea what though.

>Tales of Destiny 2

Ah, Tales of Eternia. Good times. They shouldn't have changed the name though. That was silly. X3

If I'm needed to post somewhere, PLEASE PM me about it. Sometimes I lose track of threads and need to be reminded about things.

Erm interesting that could mean that the glyphs are alive. In fact what it could mean is the character has pledged their loyalty to a certain "God" in this case they would be the summon spirits. Fighting classes would require singular pledges of Loyalty where as spell casters would need many. Of course that eliminates summoning.

Sounds extremely similar to the Magicite/Esper system in FFVI, with each one equipped giving you different abilities and boosts.

Anyway, for my character, I had an idea for a sort of Blood/Berserker Mage-Knight, where he or she gains the power to perform special magic and skill based on how many kills they can get and how many injuries they sustain. This work in a team setting by them focusing on taking on the weaker targets and gaining strength while the rest of the party could focus on handling the stronger enemies until he or she could join in.

Indeed you are right, I'd forgotten that. Erm In that case you'd need to choose which you wanted more, magic or raw power. I'd kind of like classes that fit into these games but variations work as I intended to do a variation of a class.

The idea was that he/she would be a melee character most of the time, with a only a few special skills (think something like Stock Break or whatever; not really magic, but sort of a magic-powered attack) that can only be performed when he or she is powered up enough.

Aah I see a sort of specialised Dark Knight then? Sounds like a villain class. XD

I'm interested in trying this, if there is still room?

In fact, my first "adult" RP on RPOL (before Elliquiy was born) was a Final Fantasy game.

On the matter of Fantasy vs Modern, I rather liked the way FF7/8 were done, a mix of both (with a fair bit of future tech).

Can we have licentious Marlboros having their way with the ladies? ;D It sounds like a lot of fun.

There's plenty of room we're still planning this actually. I like Nikki's story idea and so does everyone else it seems. The thing to do is to find out what everyone wants character wise and to see if we have any other plot suggestions.

Actually, I wouldn't mind something in the vein of FFVII or VIII at all, I just don't want it to be modern modern, as in more reminiscent of our world than one of fantasy.

I see well I want to keep things like guns to a minimum.

Immediately clicked after I did a double take at "Tales." Might join, once I see how busy my college schedule will keep me, and assuming there's still room. Don't have any ideas for the roleplay or for a character yet. One question, though. Are F/F and M/M relationships allowed?

Also, I loved both Symphonia games. ;D But I didn't care for using the Wii controllers for Dawn of the New World. I second the notion that you should try Abyss. I liked that even more than Symphonia. Haven't played any of the others except Vesperia, but not all the way through. I got annoyed after constantly struggling with bosses.

Yes, definitely my main female is gay so I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't allow it. I'm stuck on Dawn and I do hate using the Wii more for it.

Yep.

Cool I'm just goingto see how many people we have before I say create a character template. I want to know what people would want to do. Our villian's side or the hero's side. That sort of thing.

Lyron

Okay, cool. :D
Yeah, the controllers are just a little too awkward for that kind of playing style. Might have been better if they enabled use of the classic controller or maybe even GameCube controllers.

If I do join, I might go with a villain character, but that could change. I might make a healer or knight/warrior type char.

I'm doing one of each.

Still here. GOnna hold back on making a concept though. Too many ideas!

Well steam punk is the most wanted setting, so we'll go with that.

Bayushi

I'm still here!

Not quite sure about what I'd play. Thinking of a thief/rogue along the lines of Yuffie (^^), who doesn't get nearly the attention that Tifa does (>.<). I guess that little boys need their femme fatales to have a massive rack to be interested?

Though I did find a nicely done FFVII 3DCG Hentai once that featured Yuffie. Wish I could find it again.

Tifa's not really a femme Fatale.

Revenent

...Yuffie's kind of annoying, in my opinion. >_> Not that I give any particular damn about Tifa, either.
