At the foot of a mountain lies the peaceful town of Terranov... Everything has always been the same here  it's citizens going about their usual lives, going to the same jobs as always!
After a while people like that are bound to get closed minded!
So what will happen if mysterious beings, children of magic, emerge from the mountain top?
As their lives lead them into a world that is unfamiliar, they realise that they aren't accepted in this community!
Will they ever manage to fit in?

Isaac ducked clumsily as yet another rotten apple flew by. He was getting used to the townsfolk throwing things at him and the others who'd arrived, but that didn't mean he liked it. Savages, he thought, I would strike you down if it had not been expressly forbidden. They were guests, according to their leader, but it felt more like being a leper colony that had to share space with the regular folk. Isaac's powers allowed him to do all sorts of things, mostly what people would consider parlor tricks like levitation and telekinesis, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. If only he'd thought to bring his spell book with him when they'd ventured out the morning they'd been dumped in this unforgiving land.

He shook his head and strode on, sticking to the shadows when he could. He finally found who he was looking for some ten minutes, and a few rotten vegetables, later. She was sitting on the lip of the fountain in the center of the town square, gazing down into the water and Isaac was once again astonished at how well she fit in to this place. He walked up to her and sat down hard, kicking his feet a few inches off the ground. "I bloody hate it here," he mumbled after a moment.

Tara ran a hand through her long red hair as she sat with on the edge of the fountain in the town square, her bright green eyes focused on the ground in front of her...
She hated to see those so-called 'normal' people glaring at her! The verbal and physical abuse was bad enough, but seeing them looking at you, scrutinizing you as though you were some kind of tiny insect under a magnifying glass! But she was sure that that was what they wanted her to be! Then they could just make her disappear when the sun came up!

The next thing she knew, someone was sat next to her... Someone rather angry by the looks of it!
Tara looked to her side to see that it was Isaac and she offered the happiest smile she could offer until she heard his mumble... Then she placed her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sure it'll get better at some point, we just need to gain there trust! It's just a matter of how!" she said quietly as she reassuringly squeezed his shoulder

Isaac offered a sardonic smile in return, glaring about him at the people glaring back at him. "Earn their trust? How do you propose we do that? We've already agreed to live as second class citizens. We can't get work, we're restricted from using our abilities. It's inhuman, the way they treat us. We could level their pathetic town in under an hour with very little effort, but we're behaving. What else do they want us to do?" He saw a coin in the pool, a particularly shiny one and looked around him before putting his hand out and calling it to him. It lifted out of the water with a little plop and zipped into his hand without anyone the wiser. He opened his hand and looked at the coin for a moment before stuffing it into his pocket. "Come on, at least we can go get some lunch."

"Levelling this town would be wrong! Especially since they aren't as gifted as us! And anyway, I'll find a way!" Tara grinned slightly, before watching Isaac grabbing a coin from the fountain and smiling at him. "You could always take away their wishes though... Don't they know that wishing doesn't work?" Tara rolled her green eyes before jumping up and offering her hand to Isaac as she bowed slightly.
"So, Isaac is hungry? Allow me to escort you!" she grinned childishly before grabbing his hand

He shook his head and allowed himself to be pulled off the fountain lip by the exuberant girl. "If wishes were horses we could all get out of here." He follow her along, deflecting an orange with a hasty shield as they made their way toward the restaurant district. "You'd think they'd throw something good to eat, at least then I wouldn't have to steal coins out of the fountain." He walked in silence a few more paces before pulling Tara into a darkened alley. "Yes, leveling the town would be wrong," he said in a whisper. He hadn't wanted to discuss this further in the square for fear of prying eyes and ears. "But it would get our point across. We don't want to be here any more than they want us to be, but if they gave us more of a chance we could make it work. We just need to think of a way to make them see that they need it. You know my sister is good with the weather, what if she made a storm that threatened to destroy the town and we helped save it? We'd be the heroes and they'd finally appreciate us. Life would get a lot easier."

"Yeah, it would get our point across, but wouldn't you prefer to do it in a more honest way!" she asked, her head on her hip as she looked at him. "And a storm? If we helped them, they'd found out somehow! They'd found out that we were false heroes, and then we'd be treated even worse than we already are!"
Tara sighed as she glanced around...
"It would be easier if we could prove our use to them! We could seek out places to use our specialties, and then they'd begin to accept us, and it would be a more honest way!"

Isaac sighed and stuffed his hands into his pockets as he lead Tara back into the street. It was a quiet afternoon and there weren't many people out and around. They passed a few of their own people on the way to the bakery that Isaac had thought of when he got the coin from the fountain. "I know we should be honest, I wasn't raised to be a brute, but there's only so much one person can take before he snaps. How would they find out we did it? They have no magic, no abilities. We could control it! How would you propose we prove ourselves to them? We're not allowed to use our abilities unless our leaders say so and they won't let us do anything else. I'm ready to just up and leave, get out of here. Try to be normal in some other town where no one knows who or what I am." He kicked a small stone and it sailed through the air, nearly hitting some unsuspecting villager in the head. Isaac debated letting it happen, just for a little payback, but at the last moment he pushed it aside with a twitch of a finger and it fell harmlessly to the ground with no one the wiser.

Tara thought for a moment, then looked at Isaac, blinking her eyes a few times. She was trying to think of a response then just looked down at the floor for a moment.
"But if you left, you'd be leaving everyone behind... We don't know what the rest of this place is like, only what they've told us!" she said, her tone becoming gradually more serious... "Eventually, they'll find out what you can do, and they'll take advantage of it! At least while we're here, they don't try to get money by using us! And I'd rather be hated than used... But that's me I guess!" Tara sighed melancholically as she remembered the family she had left behind

Ghostphoenix713

Isaac nodded and shrugged. "I don't know, Tara. I don't know what the answer is. I just can't go on living like this. It's killing me by inches and I hate it," he grumbled as they finally arrived at the bakery. "How can you stand it? Knowing these people hate us just for being who and what we are? I could make a fortune selling my services outside of this place! But they won't let me here. We have to be regulated and controlled. It makes me sick knowing that I could be helping these ungrateful souls and they won't let me." He shook his head again and stepped up to the window. He slid the coin forward and asked for a large loaf of freshly baked bread. The woman running the bakery may not have liked him, but money always talked and he got the bread and some change. With it, he went and bought two drinks and returned to lead Tara to a bench they could eat at without being harassed.

"The only reason they hate us is because they know how much of a threat we are... Try and imagine life in their shoes... One day strange people arrive at your town, and they could flatten your town and kill everyone, no matter how powerful you thought you were, in a matter of minutes!" Tara exclaimed... ,"They treat us badly because they know we could do that... They want us to leave so they can live in peace."
Tara stopped speaking as Isaac bought bread off the woman, then followed him to a bench...
