Epigenetics is extremely important, although not really that new. We actually knew about epigenetic elements like histones over 50 years before we actually understood that DNA was the genetic material. And their function has been fairly clear since the 1980s. I was a little disappointed not to see any mention of the epigenetic control of microRNA as recent research makes it seem likely that miRNA is more sensitive to epigentic control and in turn controls gene expression changes. It is far more likely that behavior induced alterations in gene expression are miRNA mediated rather than direct epigenetic effects. Still, quite a good gloss and I will definitely be tracking down more of this guy's videos.
