Black Howling

#651
BASIC INFO:
Legal Name: Raymond Sinclair
Codename/Nickname/Aliases: Wolfsbane
Citizenship and other legal info: Dual Citizenship (Scotland/USA)
Place of Birth: Scotland
Occupation: Teacher
Education: High School Diploma, Bachelors in General Science: Specializing in Biology.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Height: 5’11
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Blue
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Age: 30
General Appearance: Lean, corded and appealing. That was at-least the way his first romantic interest described him. Since then, he hasn't really paid much attention to it. He has paler tone of skin then many people, though this is likely due to growing up in Scotland during his earlier life.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Orientation: Heterosexual
Ons/Offs: He's always said he'll try anything once. Just avoid Scat.
Goals:To Help other 'shifter' mutants control their powers. Publish the long term book he's been writing (Seriously, he's totally past the first page!). Finally save his father from the man's own insanity, one way or another.
Wealth Level: Paid Teacher at Xavier's? (Not sure the level you'd consider that.)
Personality: He's talkative, friendly and seems like a genuine nice guy. He jests often, can be sarcastic, but has often been described as simply enjoying the sound of his own voice. A lot of it is his attempts to be outgoing, and an inner social nature he has.

SCHOOL INFO:
Classes Taken or Taught: Teaches Biology
Year: Teacher.
Club Memberships or Sponsorships: N/A

STATS: (Stats arranged in threes. Human/Wolf/Werewolf for Simplicity's sake.)
Fighting: 5 - Agility: 4/7/6 - Strength: 4/5/6 - Endurance: 4/6/6 - Reason: 3/2/3 - Intuition: 6/9/9 - Psyche: 6/7/6

POWERS:
Lycanthropy: Ray hates this terminology for his powers, but as a rare and more limited shifter it best fit. He has the ability to change into a wolf, or as some joke, a werewolf at will. Both transitions have a huge effect on his mental and physical characteristics. Despite the appearance change, along with his monstrous claws and fangs, that is where the resemblance to the lycanthropes of legend end. The moon has no effect on him, Silver poses no more a threat then it would to anyone else and for the most part he retains his humanity while in his alternate forms.

Healing Factor: Though not on par with the likes of Wolverine, Ray does have an extremely accelerated rate of healing. He can heal in minutes what takes others days, hours what takes weeks, and weeks what takes years. His aging is slowed somewhat, but not greatly. Yet due to this he is highly resistant to poisons and disease.

Increased Senses: Even in his ‘normal’ form, Ray has increased senses of Olfactory and greater eyesight. In his wolf forms, it becomes very superhuman. Able to perceive things with animal accuracy, and even capable of viewing things in the infrared spectrum. With a mix of these, he can greater perceive someone's intentions, including helping him discern if someone is lying.

ADVANTAGES:
Cool Headed: Perhaps the hardest thing for The Professor to teach him in the beginning. His emotions were all over the place in the past, but since he's learned to keep calm and collected even in dire situations.
High Pain Threshold: The beatings from his father had him use to pain from a very early age, even before his powers ever even thought about surfacing.
Congenial: He's always been a people person. Good conversation even in rough company, he's easy to talk to and usually pretty easy to get along with.

DISADVANTAGES:
Emotional: He's done good curbing the emotional roller coaster he is, but sometimes it does come out. Particularly with stressful relations between friends and loved ones.
The claws and Fangs: Even in human form, he has elongated nails on his index fingers. Ones that highly resemble, and yes, are claws. He also has elongated canines, this makes it hard for him to mask that he's a mutant in certain situations.
Cocky: He may be calm, but he's also more then a bit full of himself at times. Possibly more prideful then cocky, but that doesn't change the perception people often get.

SKILLS:
Science!: He's a biology professor, and has a bachelors in general science. He knows some things.
Kick Boxing: He started studying it shortly after his mother got him away from his abusive father. It was meant as a safety net to let him believe nothing like that would happen again, but he quickly took more of an interest. He's professional level by this point.
Religious History: His father's obsession, mixed with his own exploration since their separation has made sure he's picked up more then a few things.

HISTORY:
Raymond's mother was a sixteen year old girl on a high school paid trip to Europe when she and his father had met. Craig Sinclair wasn't the celebrated Reverend he is now. No, he was a man still just coming into his own within the ranks of the church. Some seen it as a shame when his father and this young American student first started to become involved. It was a short fling, and one no one expected to have the consequences that it did. But during their time together, Ray was conceived. It wasn't until after his mother, Lily, returned home that she learned she was pregnant.

Lily's parents were not supportive in the least when they discovered. They cast her out on her ass, but she managed to find her way back to Scotland. It was there Craig agreed to take their child, so long as no one ever knew the truth. So it was then he adopted the boy, and shortly after giving birth to him Scotland, his mother's Visa ran out. She was deported back, but left Ray there with his father. Little did the girl know this was perhaps the worst thing she could have ever done for him. In his son's eyes, Craig viewed the worst in himself. The time he slipped, the weakness in his heart. That taint, as Ray grew this came out on him. And often.

By age six, Craig frequently beat Ray and did all he could to convince the boy that he had sin in his heart. Sin that he must cleanse and relinquish. This dragged on until Ray was ten, when his mother came back to Scotland for her son. She was a respected professor in the US by this point, and sought to make a family with Craig and her son. The heartbreak and torment that ensued when she witnessed what had been happening to her own son nearly killed her. On the books she was still his biological mother, and despite Craig having adopted him, she had never given up full custody. So in the dead of the night she took him away, and warned Craig that his 'secret' would come out should he ever come after them.

Ray adjusted well to his mother, but the nightmares persisted along with a fear of his father coming back. His mother did what she could to try and make him feel safe, enrolling him in self defense classes as well as a number of sports. He seemed he would do fine, until just after his sixteenth birthday when his father -did- come back after him. It seemed the anger he held toward Raymond was also an obsession, and during a heated argument with his mother, the Reverend called her a demon in the flesh. He accused her of seducing him, and now doing the same to their son. In an act of passion he killed Ray's mother, setting off the first sign of his sons powers.

Ray transformed into a wolf and lost control, attacking his crazed father. He doesn't remember what all happened, nor how he got to where he was next. But when he awoke he was in the medical ward at Xavier's School. It was here he became one of the first of Xavier's students. He learned well under his mentor ship, but at age 20 and a lot of discipline later, he decided he needed time to truly understand himself. It was here he took a road trip, nothing but him and his bike as he searched for some sort of enlightenment. While perhaps one of the best choices he's made, it was also quite a painful one. Not just for leaving what had become his home, but because of what he'd find along the way.

Two years in, Ray had done a lot of soul searching. Though mostly in seedy bars trying to drown away the guilt of leaving, and the pain of wondering what he'd done to his father during his power's awakening. Eventually he tried to look the old man up, but all his digging did was alert his father to the presence of his son. The Reverend came to his son then, accusing him of being possessed by the devil himself. His father, now a wealthy man, had an entire contingent of guards ready to shoot his son at first notice. There was a small scuffle, but Ray managed to knock his father unconscious and escape with only a few bullet wounds. Nothing his healing factor couldn't take care of.

It was 4 years later that Ray finally found his way back to the school. He no longer felt anger toward his old man anymore, not just pity. It took some time, but he managed to get a position at the school using the degree he'd finished while on the road. Since then he's stayed, feeling this and this alone is where he belongs. Teaching the younger mutants at the school, and being here for whatever he's needed for in The Professors eyes. To him, his real father and the man that saved his life.

Okay, I think I'm finally done with my character sheet.  Tell me what you think!!  I'll probably have to tone a few things down or something. Also, I would appreciate some recommendations for her codename/alias.

BASIC INFO:
Legal Name: Valerie Kaufman
Codename/Nickname/Aliases:  Alchemist
Citizenship and other legal info: Dual citizenship Germany/England, Student Visa for American Schools
Place of Birth: Liebzig Germany
Occupation: Unemployed/Student
Education: Some high school

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 110lbs
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Blue
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Age: 19
General Appearance: Whenever possible, Valerie prefers to lounge in shorts, tanks, or less. When necessary, Valerie wears loose skirts and thin tight tops to stay cool. In the rare cases where she is actually cold, she simply layers up and occasionally will wear a hoodie.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Orientation: Straight
Ons/Offs: Loves to give head, loves bondage only when she feels safe
Goals: Valerie just wants to try to live a normal life. The last few years have been incredibly rough on her so her hope is to just get a college education before returning to Germany.  Additionally, she wants to make sure her father is safe and can live a comfortable life from here on.
Wealth Level: Basically anywhere from 1-4 depending on how much time she has in relative safety.
Personality: At her core Valerie is generally friendly and warm-hearted, but she has grown very untrusting and cynical since her powers manifested.  She hides behind a wall of frigidness turning people away who she assumes would try to use her.  Most of what she reveals to people are lies, and anything she is enthusiastic about remains hidden behind an artificial demeanor. Despite this, she holds out hope that someone can make her feel safe and welcome.

Valerie wants to do things that others might not think twice about, such as get tattoos or dye her hair, but she is still very focused on keeping a low profile. Beyond being a very attractive girl, she tries not to have any identifiable marks to remain as anonymous as possible.

SCHOOL INFO:
Classes Taken or Taught: General Education
Year: High School Sophomore
Club Memberships or Sponsorships:  No current clubs or activities

STATS:
Fighting: 3 - Agility: 4 - Strength: 3 - Endurance: 5 - Reason: 5-8?? - Intuition: 5 - Psyche: 4

POWERS:
Golden Touch - Valerie can affect the properties of items she touches by using her blood or tears as a reagent.  A drop of blood and her full concentration allows her to transmute an item's basic makeup to that of a different element. Her most common use is to transform cheap trinkets into gold to sell. Even without her concentration, each drop of blood or teardrop can transform an equal volume of a substance to gold. So far, Valerie's powers only work on non-living material, therefore she could not use her power to turn a person to stone. (This could change over time if the nature of her powers change)  The more complex or rare the material is, the harder it is for her to transmute. For instance, to transform something to adamantium would be incredibly taxing on her, as well as transforming adamantium into something else.
Chemical Understanding - Despite having no formal education in chemistry Valerie has an innate understanding of chemistry down to the atomic level.  Valerie knows the exact chemical compounds and ratios of any item she touches and concentrates on.   The power starts by creating a framework of components, so a computer would start as a metal or plastic frame with boards and wires interconnected. The longer she concentrates the more focused she can get.  If she concentrated on the computer itself she would begin to see it as molecules and then as atoms. If she focused on the motherboard specifically she would see the silicon, copper, silver, and various plastic components.  She can further focus on a single component on the motherboard, say the core, and see the specific molecules or atoms that makes it up. This power allows her to use her Golden Touch to sabotage or improve a specific component. It also helps her gain a basic understanding of a device.  The more complicated a device is the more difficult is to truly understand, but the basics could make a huge difference in trying to understand alien or futuretech.  When using this power on a device built to control something else, she could only gain the understanding of the control device itself.  Even if it were connected by wires, she would still have to touch the device itself to see the framework of the main device and not the control device.

ADVANTAGES:
Situational Awareness  Due to being constantly on the run, she has is constantly scanning her surroundings and is very good at noticing things that  are out of the ordinary.
Escape Artist Valerie has needed to escape from police, armed forces, corporate security, and other dangerous people. In combination with her ability to transmute material she is quite flexible and is able to break out of most bindings.

DISADVANTAGES:
Hunted - People who know about her power want her. Having the ability to transmute basic elements into rare and valuable elements is highly valuable.
Low Tolerance to Heat - Due to a chemical imbalance, Valerie often has issues with her body temperature spiking.  Warm environments affect her as a hot environment might and hot environments can make her sick. This does, however, make her better at withstanding the cold.

SKILLS:
Cosmetology: - Valerie may not have a degree in cosmetology, but she has put in countless hours trying to adjust her own looks. With the right makeup she can look like an entirely different person. She is also better than average at styling and cutting her own hair. Being on the run doesn't leave her with much time to rest, let alone have her hair done at a salon.
Writing: - Perhaps something she inherited from her mother, Valerie is an excellent writer.  She has been writing at a college level since 14 and has been trying to break into professional writing careers.

HISTORY:

Valerie's father, Cristoph Kaufman, was a German laborer that followed work to England.  He was no one special and found himself struggling to make ends meet. He fell in love with a young writer Helena Christie, and though the two had their share of problems they married for a short time.  Valerie spent her first few years growing up in their small home in England where her mother mostly focused on her writing, leaving Valerie to her own devices. She was no more than 10 when her parents were reaching the point of no return and they divorced when Valerie was 12.

Valerie moved with her father to Germany where his parents hosted them until he was back on his feet.  He found work, a good school, and struggled to afford the life he wanted for his only daughter.  Valerie had noticed that her father was wearing himself thin and tried to find ways to help generate income.  She was too young to find a part time job, and anything else she could get paid for required an investment that she didn't want to place on her father.

She had just turned 16 when she noticed something strange.  A bandage she had placed on a cut had turned to gold.  As she explored this occurance she discovered that her period panties also had small areas turned completely to gold.  Somehow her blood had been changing things to gold.  She collected every item she could find that had undergone the transformation and eventually tried to sell what was basically tiny discs of gold.  At first, the discs sold to a pawn shop owner who felt a bit sorry for Valerie. But as months went by and more and more items rolled in of unusual shape and size, he could no longer buy from her. Instead, he had some workers follow her to find where she was getting the gold from.  After a week of following her to and from school and the few other places she went, they had no clue where she was getting the gold from, and raided her house.  When Valerie returned her father had been seriously injured and the thieves nowhere to be found. Valerie brought her father to the hospital. It was just her luck that they had asked her for a blood transfusion, she tried to refuse, but the workers were desperate. She gave a vial of blood for blood typing, but the needle, the tubing, and the vial all had turned to gold.  Before they could confront her she had run away.

The hospital workers likely declared her a mutant and registered what information they could, but Valerie never looked back.  No matter how difficult she made it to find her, or how well she covered her tracks, someone always found her. The hunt for the golden goose pitted several different groups throughout Europe against each other.  Between abductions and detainments, she discovered there was more to her ability than just turning things to gold. There was a moment between when the blood reached the surface of something and it changed where she could concentrate on the material it was to become. She also discovered that splashing her blood on people didn't do too much. Their clothes might change, but their bodies remained unaffected.

Her notoriety continued to grow until she was detained by the German military.  For weeks she struggled against them, attempting escape time and time again failing each and every time.  But it was here she discovered there was some other power that she controlled. When she concentrated on something she was touching, she could feel its framework and understand it on some intuitive level. She could feel the locking mechanism in handcuffs, she could see the electrical circuitry on the door locks, she could understand the mechanics of a car.  From this point on she became nearly impossible to contain. When Valerie was asked to attend Xavier's School for the Gifted, she was uncertain at first, but she figured nothing could stop her should she decide to leave. She still worries about her father since she had been unable to help him. She heard he was alive, but might not be for long.  She lamented that there was nothing she could do; she simply hoped that he lived long enough for her to reach him again and help him live a comfortable life.

Since arriving at Xavier's, Valerie has been rather hesitant to talk to other students or faculty.  Xavier has met with her a few times, but Valerie has refused to open up thus far.

Also, I would appreciate some recommendations for her codename/alias.

Just happened to be peeking in.  How about Alchemist?  Kinda fits with the whole turning base metals to gold thing.  I don't believe there's a Marvel character with that name either.

(Welcome to the game BTW.  Well, when you get accepted...but I imagine you will.   :-) )

Hello! I previously didn't put in my interest because everything seemed pretty developed, and leaping into such a lengthy thread is something a little odd, but I'm here. I'm not sure where in the cast I could fit a character with everyone here. I'm wondering where there might be a gap or niche that a character hasn't filled.

Hey there! Our thread is pretty long but that's only because we're a chatty bunch! This is the type of game that people can join at any time regardless of what is going on, so don't let that discourage you.

I can't think of any particular gaps offhand, I think there's a decent chunk of original X-Men open if that's your thing.

You can view our approved characters here: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=204481.0
There's a few more that'll be added there soon, including Bishop, a speedster, and a technopath at least.

Worshipping Master

#673
BASIC INFO:
Legal Name: Chris Larson
Codename/Nickname/Aliases: 'Thor' (Artificer)
Citizenship and other legal info: US Citizen
Place of Birth: Sturgeon Bay, WI
Occupation: student
Education: through high school Freshman

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Height: 5'7
Weight: 120
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Blue
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian (Norwegian descent)
Age: 16
General Appearance: Lanky, boyish and somewhat awkward-looking teenager. Still lacking a mature physique but sporting beautiful, if not perfectly kept, blonde locks. (I plan to develop his mind, body and powers in the game if possible)

OTHER INFORMATION:
Orientation: 1 on the Kinsey scale (virgin)
Goals: After graduating high school, pursue history major in college to become a museum curator.
Wealth Level: Fairly well-off, suburban family
Personality: For the most part, polite and well-mannered, if not a little socially awkward. Quite passionate about ancient and medieval history and mythology. He prefers clean, good-natured humor over anything mean-spirited or sarcastic. Due to his particular passions, he has a very dramatic, old-world manner of speaking.

SCHOOL INFO:
Classes Taken or Taught: generic high school courses, advanced placement in history
Year: Sophomore
Club Memberships or Sponsorships: SCA?

STATS:
Fighting: 4 Agility: 4 Strength: 2(physically) 6(mentally) Endurance: 4 - Reason: 3 - Intuition: 4 - Psyche: 6

POWERS:
Tactile Telekenesis - Physical contact allows Chris to manipulate objects through sheer force of will. Examples being kinetic acceleration (throwing), arrested momentum (stopping moving objects), molecular reconfiguration or disruption (bending, breaking)
Current situational modifications: It is limited by his will, though he believes it is his physical strength, while he believes he is Thor. As such, his muscles strain even as his mind is doing the work.

Psychic Fetish -While Chris does not understand the true nature of this ability, he is able to imbue ordinary objects with lasting psionic energy. In his mind's eye, he sees the object as something of great power, usually a legendary weapon, and he is able to give it powers in accordance with its story. He cannot create his fetishes very often (and at the moment he only has one) and it takes a tremendous amount of energy out of him, which can be harmful.
list of fetishes:

  • Mjolnir (really just a sledge hammer) Chris's psychic connection with his hammer enables him to anchor it to the spot he leaves it at and call it to him at will. He can use it to enact a Psychoactive Electrostatic Discharge, a localized ionic charge in the atmosphere that appears almost as ball lighting, eventually arcing outwards. Chris only ever used this ability once, during the creation of his 'Mjolnir' (when his powers first manifested) and has not been able to recreate the effect.
Important note: Chris does not have any of the other powers that canon Marvel Thor does ('flight,' ability to travel through time, enhanced senses and attributes, berserker rage, ability to call wind and rain, increased lifespan, etc...)

ADVANTAGES:
Inspire Morale - Chris's cavalier attitude invokes a sense of confidence in his comrades. When working with him, even the hardest of tasks somehow don't seem all that daunting.
Rough and Tumble - Years of historically accurate medieval combat training and a one year stint on the high school football team have left Chris with a fairly high threshold for pain and the ability to bounce back from minor injuries quickly

DISADVANTAGES:
Psychosomatic enfeeblement - If he believes him strength is disabled, he is unable to use his telekinesis. (This is temporary, of course)
LEEEROOOOOOOOY JEEENNKIINNNNSSSS!!!!! - He has the rather juvenile tendency to charge into a situation head-first, without fully accessing the situation or thinking his actions through. He's a smart lad, but he has a bit of a hero complex. While in a dungeon setting, he would be smart enough to use stealth and listen at the door first, but when battle is imminent he tends to just jump in.
Socially awkward - Has a tendency to insert not only his foot, but a good portion of his leg up to his knee into his mouth. His overtly robust disposition and "Renfaire" mannerisms can very quickly grate on many people's nerves.

SKILLS:
Haca training - Historically Accurate Combat Association (also called 'ARMA') Which he used during Renaissance faires and conventions.
Extensive knowledge of History - Especially Western Europe, He explored mythology as well
Costume making - Extensive knowledge and skill at period reproduction costumes and some forms of armor
Storyteller - Chris has embraced the Norse tradition of bragging dramatically of heroic deeds, reinforced by playing role of Game Master in tabletop roleplaying for many years.

HISTORY:
Chris Larson was born and raised in a nice, suburban community in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin. From a young age, he developed a deep infatuation for medieval history, mythology and fantasy. From his preteen and on into his teenage years, his spare time was completely focused toward a variety of pursuits that reflected his love for all things medieval: literature, roleplaying, conventions, cosplay, festivals... Because of this almost single-minded affinity, he finds it difficult to socially interact with others without bringing his passions at least somewhat into play.

On the day of his 16th birthday, Chris was goofing off in an abandoned construction site when he came across and old, short handled sledge hammer. Remembering an old Norse tale, inspiration overtook him and he took up the construction implement and held it aloft over his head, passionately reciting the old passage,

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor!”

As he lost himself emotionally and mentally in the drama of the moment, it was then that his latent mutant abilities awakened - with a vengeance. His psychic abilities roared to life within him with such intensity and power that his psyche immediately imprinted upon the old hammer and an immense psychic electronic discharge manifested in the form of a very potent lightning bolt erupting from the hammer, arcing ever into the heavens. Completely caught unawares, Chris immediately dropped the hammer, which landed with an amazingly solid thud upon the ground. He stumbled a good ten feet away, reeling from the intensity of the moment and taking a moment to compose himself and process what had just happened.

First, he looked around, expecting it to be some elaborate hoax. "What trickery be this?" he managed to speak, still puzzling to what had just happened to him. As his eyes took in the landscape, they eventually settled again on the hammer and a curious impulse to once again hold it in his hands overtook him. It was then, as he started walking to the hammer and holding out his hand towards it that he received the second surprise as the hammer immediately sprang up from the ground and flew into his grasp. He stared at the blunt instrument in his hand in disbelief, after all, myths were myths. And this was the real world. This kind of stuff doesn't happen. Does it?

Chris chuckled nervously, "This cannot be." The mythical Mjolnir... resting amongst rubble? In Wisconsin? What folly!" Half in jest and half out of curiosity, he hefted the hammer then and swung as hard as he could at a solid concrete section of wall that was all that was left of a once large and sturdy building... and gawked in disbelief as the entire wall was veritably obliterated by the hammer's blow. Eyes wide and hands trembling, he secured the hammer inside his backpack and hurried towards home.

If this character is accepted, I'll have to work out how he got to the school with Orange.

Strangefate

If still free, I’d like to dibs Dani Moonstar for a third character.  I plan to stick with the whole gender swap thing so this would end up being a Daniel Moonstar.  I know we have a Mirage with illusion powers but the backgrounds are different and I can use the character’s earlier codename, Psyche, and stick to nightmare inducing and animal communication type powers so there won’t be any serious overlap.

But if that's going to clash with anyone, please let me know.  Lot of characters and dibsed characters and what not at this point, so hard to keep track.  At the speed I do char gen, I probably won't be getting started on the sheet right away anyhow.
