Serverly Delayed Notification Emails

I was just wondering if there's something that might cause an email notification to be seriously delayed.

One of my partners replied to a post at 1am this morning, and I didn't get my e-mail notification until 3:30pm this afternoon.... that's a 14 hour delay. o.O Not very useful, at least to me. Help?

Hm... I can do that, but it's highly inconvenient. I just thought it strange since in over a year I've never had this problem before. o.O

It tends to plague a single person's account for a few days, I don't know why. It's just well-known that Hotmail brakes things.
