BACKGROUND:
JJ is born to Sara and Brian Jones; her mother is an artist that painted murals as a living. And her father was a mathematician/inventor for a fortune 500 tech company. The oddest of couples but yet they were both just so quirky in their ways that it worked. The strange pair gave birth to an equally strange daughter. A bundle of sunshine, and rampaging trouble that you couldn't help but fall in love with. The pair raised their daughter to question and explore the world around her. It gave her room to learn and get into all sorts of interesting situations. Her upbringing was unconventional for sure, but in truth, none of them would have had it any other way.

JJ proved to be rather intelligent as she grew up. So much so that she skipped a few years of school and ended up finishing high school early. JJ found herself 17 and itching to see the world. So instead of going straight to college, she made a deal with her parents. She'd go abroad and participate in a work-study program until she was ready to come back home and go back to school. Some may have thought of her as too young to be on her own. But her parents trusted that they had raised a strong and brave daughter. One with a pretty good head on her shoulders too.

After 2 years of traveling to small farms in places like Paris and Japan, JJ decided to come back to the states and go to college to earn degrees in her chosen field. Deciding to go to RAFT because it was near some family. And that had been something she'd been missing after such a long time away.

Her first few years at school were spent studying and gaining the rep of being the girl that could fit in anywhere. And it wasn't simply because she grew and sold all manner of natural intoxicants. Though if people were asked by staff, they never knew who they'd gotten from. Thankfully now that weed is legal JJ has a great deal more wiggle room and can more openly make a living by selling the best shit in town! Now back for another year, JJ plans on making it as good as the rest. Getting back to her sisters in the Delta Phi Delta house and seeing what this year has in store of her.

Alex may not look it but don't let the those pretty eyes fool you, those that know her can tell you what a type of temptress lies beneath. She never shy's away from new things, always saying things like "Life's to short, play naked...no ok how about Live life to the fullest while you can." She keeps people from getting to close relationship wise due to her past. But she is quick to defend and stand by her friends, just don't expect her to get mushy about it. Cranky before her first cup of coffee, but down right entertaining after that first beautiful sip. A mind that is always working all the angles it is hard for her to stay stagnate and still.

BACKGROUND:
Alex was born two Megan Maxwell, a single mom that probably couldn't tell you who the father was to save her life. She and is the love them and leave them type. Only one of those times left her with Alex. Megan wasn't the best mother, nor was she the worst. In truth, Megan did her best, but they were oftentimes left struggling when between her mother's many boyfriends. When her mother was single things seemed random but great. They didn't always have food, and at times lived in a car, but it was them against the world and Alex loved it that way.

More often than not the men her mother dated tended to try and buy their way into her heart and into her mother's pants. It never really worked, but it did leave Alex with access to game systems. She'd spend hours playing every day. Eventually getting so good that she was participating in tournaments. At the age of 15, she was traveling all over and competing in tournaments and winning countless prizes, many of which included cash. Cash that her mother couldn't burn through quick enough. Leaving them broke and destitute not long after each win. It finally got too much when her mother sold her computer to get a quick bit of cash between dry spells. It brought things to a head and had them ending things with a blow-up fight that had her mother leaving Alex with her grandmother.

Feeling abandoned and unsure Alex turned to games once more. Only this time she turned her mind to tinkering with programming them. Starting with simple things, all the way up till she wrote a bit of code she managed to sell for a nice bit of coin with a contract that had her earning royalties for a long time after that. Using these funds Alex enrolled and started college to fine-tune her skills. And to perhaps one day become a programmer and developer for the games she loves so much.

BACKGROUND:
Born and raised in Westchester, Pennsylvania Mason's upbringing was nothing short of chaotic. The youngest of five brothers to an factory worker and his loyal wife, Mason was the product of one of his mother's secretive lovers right under his father's nose. Having to provide for an already large family had meant Mason's father often clocked obscene hours at the papermill, leaving his wife to shoo her children away in order to have guests give her the attention she had been sorely lacking after four kids and 20 years of marriage. Of course when she found herself pregnant the cat was let out of the bag from her own dear husband, the man having gotten a vasectomy without her knowledge after the birth of their fourth child, and that clearly he wasn't Mason's father. Despite the misgivings however the family stayed together albeit the household became all the more chaotic in the frigid emotionless atmosphere, Mason's 'father' simply doing his duty to provide for the illegitimate child, but nothing more. Mason's mother however did everything in her power to ensure that Mason knew full well who was to blame for the unhappy household, often getting his half siblings to gang up on the boy to systematically terrorize in a myriad of ways; because obviously it was his fault for everything.

By the time Mason was 13 he had already run away half a dozen times, slipping into a bad crowd, but overall nothing more than a few vandalism charges was ever placed on him. His home life merely a facade Mason spent most of his time out of the house as much as possible even after being drug back, his only true salvation being the first time he placed his hands on a guitar as the moment was one he could never forget. It felt to him like destiny and as a result he became obsessed with creating the music that his tragic soul cried out for, reining in the wild child to instead use his natural gift as a way to show he did mean something, that he could be someone. By some miracle Mason managed to pass highschool by the skin of his teeth, his assumption being the teachers were sick of him and didn't want to see him again the next year, that with only his prized guitar and a few bucks in his pocket he made it a point to escape his family.

Enrolling in Raft University had been something that Mason hadn't thought was even possible, much less he would be accepted; who in their right mind would? The only real person whom actually gave a damn truly had pulled a magic card, the high school counselor having seen the potential in the young man, enough to help Mason get some much needed scholarships that at least would pay for supplies and courses. School debt was going to follow him forever, not to mention being essentially out on his own thanks to his rotten family, but the first year at Raft actually was the happiest Mason could remember ever being.

• Obsessive Compulsive -Whether it is his music or his general day to day life Mason tends to obsess over the smaller details, often dissolving into a mess due to his own micromanagement of himself.In an effort to control some portion of his life this does often get in the way of his sanity at times, especially when it comes to relationships as he overthinks every last detail to the point of causing an issue that never even existed in the first place.He does have a certain tick of never fully finishing a drink of any kind, usually leaving the last few sips and unwilling to finish.
• Feisty Temper- Like his mouth, Mason has been known to throw hands at the drop of a hat. Usually it is for a somewhat good reason; like getting called out or even standing up for another. Though heroics aside more often than not it is felt to be a personal attack on himself that'll send the energetic boy into a tussle, and usually not able to be stopped even after he's down for the count.
• Blunt - Mason isn't afraid to say exactly what is on his mind; if the petulant princess is acting like a bitch, he's gonna tell her.Perhaps it could be a redeeming quality if it wasn't for how brutal his remarks can be, and his inability to actually understand how someone could be offended by what he sees as the truth.
• Insecurity-Stemming from a life long battle Mason usually hides what he feels under a mask of the goof ball, beneath that wide grin an individual who is often at battle with himself. Self worth had been something beaten out of him as the youngest of five brothers as even now he carries that mark on his inner psyche,prompting him to act out even more in order to make the connection of a uncertain individual something that can't be said about him.
• Depression- Mason makes it a point to smile at every opportunity he can in order to cover for the deep chasm of utter dread and unhappiness he feels in his life. Music became the only salvation in which has helped his condition, but clearly campus life does drain someone more than they let on. At his lowest Mason can seem like a walking zombie, unkempt and uncharacteristically quiet. With any real connection to his family all but cut Mason doesn't want to admit how it truly does hurt, the dark chapters that bubble up filling him with so much woe, he sometimes even questions why he bothers. Periods of his depression come and go however, although actually finding someone to talk to may eventually even help keep it at bay.

BACKGROUND:
Owen's parents knew he was smart when he started speaking at nine months, and began doing basic arithmetic at thirteen months.  His rapid mental development was a blessing and a curse, because it made it difficult for the boy to connect to other children his age.  The resulting social and emotional impact worried his parents, and so they did everything they could to ensure their son wouldn't end up incapable of relating to 'normal' people.  It was difficult, and largely involved keeping him in public school, helping him to cope with the struggles that came from living in the real world and making certain his mind was constantly being challenged and expanded outside of school.

They only allowed him to be skipped forward a grade one time, not wanting there to be too large a disparity between his age and that of his classmates.  He often got frustrated with the boredom he experienced in class, and had a difficult time learning how to keep himself occupied in a way that wasn't disruptive to his classmates.  Luckily, his teachers all understood his unique issues and as long as he was quiet, they never took issue with him seeming to be off in his own world.  While he did sometimes get annoyed at being forced to attend classes that seemed so remedial to him, he understood why his parents had kept him there and he was grateful for all they did to ensure he remained as challenged as possible.

His summers were most often spent at some form of science or math camp, and they took him to all the lectures and exhibits that he could ask for.  Family vacations were always to places like Washington, D.C., where he could visit the Smithsonian Institute, or Houston, Texas, where he toured NASA, rather than Disneyland or the Grand Canyon.  His younger sister often complained about these trips, but his parents did their best to make sure they also visited more fun tourist attractions as well.  Still, Owen knew that his 'gift' made life more difficult for his family, and his sister sometimes suffered from the short end of the stick.

When he was in seventh grade, he discovered an additional gift in the form of speed.  He'd always loved running and it was the only form of physical activity that he placed even remotely on par with his love of math and science.  His father was the one who suggested he try out for the track team, and he was so proud of himself when he impressed the coach with his 400 meter sprint.  He stayed on the team all the way through high school and knew it added a little extra oomph to his college application.  As did the tutoring he did for the other students in his school, and his unimpeachable grades.  The only blemish on his otherwise impeccable GPA was a C in AP English that kept him from becoming the Valedictorian.

After high school, he applied and was accepted to several impressive schools, most with at least a partial scholarship.  He chose to attend Raft University because of it's distinguished Physics department, and because it also offered a chance to keep pursuing his love of track.

• Brash - While generally uncomfortable and reserved in social situations, when his temper is sparked by someone, Owen comes out of his shell.  But, not necessarily in a good way.  If he's set off, he takes reckless actions and says things that he normally wouldn't, confronting people who might prove dangerous to tangle with either physically, socially or academically.  He can't ignore truly bad behavior, even for long enough to report it to authorities, which means he can get himself into bad situations.
• Insecure - Owen's confidence in his intelligence and academics is matched by his insecurities when it comes to the 'real world'.  He envies other people who seem so carefree and secure in social situations and part of him longs to attend parties or other social functions without constantly being afraid he will say something and make everyone look at him as if he's a...well, big nerd.  Part of his shyness stems from his worry that the normal people around him will figure out he doesn't belong and mock him for trying to fit in.
• Too Smart for His Own Good - Owen has always had a hard time relating to other people due to his intelligence.  While his parents did their best to make sure he had as much acclimatization to 'normal' people as possible, keeping him in a public school and not allowing him to skip any grades, he still struggles.  He has to constantly remind himself that not everyone has the ability to swiftly grasp complex concepts, and he has to be patient with those he tutors or shares classes with.

DESIRED PLOTS:

• Romance/Dating - Owen is a virgin and has only ever kissed someone once before in his life, and that was when he was in his early teens at camp.  I want my boy to explore his sexuality, date and possibly experience his first heartbreak.  That's what college is all about, after all.
• Tutoring - This can go both ways.  Owen is always happy to tutor other students in math, science or history, but he also needs extra help in liberal arts courses.  He isn't especially good at analyzing literature and Philosophy's whole 'thing' makes his brain hurt.
  
• Coaxing/Yanking Out of His Shell - I'd love it if he became the target of someone, possibly a roommate or fellow athlete, who decided that they were going to make Owen mingle socially and attend things like games and parties.  I hardly expect someone else to make my character be sociable, so I will contribute as much as possible to getting him involved in things and trying not to make the process too difficult or annoying.  He just needs a bit of a nudge, really.
• Miscommunications - I think it'd be funny if there was a character with whom Owen was always screwing up and making things steadily worse.  So, maybe he says the wrong thing, then wildly messes up his apology attempt, then there's some sort of further misstep or miscommunication later on that just creates a weird, funny dynamic between the two characters.  This could make for a rival situation where Owen doesn't know how to fix things, or maybe even mistakes something on his end that causes him to be angry with the other character in turn.  Hell, given his tendency to react brashly, there could even be a fight that happens.

Chase Bennington, is the son of Angela and Paul Bennington, and grew up in a relatively stable if somewhat loud home, at least until his 13th year.  That was the year that Paul and Angela finally saw the writing on the wall and decided to divorce.  Seeing as his father is the sole owner of a rather large and lucrative auto business, and that his mother is no dummy either, the divorce was a rather nasty one.   Most, if not all, of the fighting revolved around money of course, with custody of young Chase (an only child) coming a distant second.

It was also this same year, possibly due to the divorce and the amount of time left to his own devices,  that young Chase started through the trials of puberty while at the same time inheriting the silver tongue that had gotten his father so far in life.  Coupled with boyish good looks and a growing ability to talk to girls, as well as a complete lack of fear in that regard, Chase found other ways to occupy himself other than dwelling on his parents problems.

Since the divorce, Chase has enjoyed life to the fullest. BACKGROUND: Daniel was born to Santiago and Natalia, in Barcelona Spain. Natalia was a singer who often traveled to conduct performances. Santiago was a carpenter who only worked when there was work to be done. Money was tight. Very tight. They struggled during most of their relationship, financially. Money was often the cause of their arguments. Then, one day, Natalia became pregnant. Though a child was not in their plans, she had every intention of keeping the baby. Santiago, however, was resistant to the idea. He wasn't ready to become a father and the idea that he soon would be one whether he liked it or not, was too much for him to bear. He frequented local bars and avoided Natalia more and more, the larger her stomach grew.

When it finally came time and Daniel was born, Natalia was overjoyed. She had to drive herself to the hospital once she confirmed her contractions with a nurse on the phone, because Santiago was - as usual - not at home. At the hospital, staff contacted Santiago, who arrived after Daniel had gotten his first bath. It occurred to Natalia that Santiago would just continue to miss the firsts in their son's life. Having her son put things into perspective; she realized she couldn't raise a newborn son in the same home as an alcoholic who was trying to drown his sorrows and erase his mistakes at the bar. Daniel wasn't a mistake, she maintained. And even though it was difficult, she separated from Santiago before Daniel was even a week old. Natalia had her parents to help raise Daniel, allowing her to continue to sing and earn money to care for him.

More often than not, she would overextend herself, picking up multiple gigs at a time. Santiago sent money every so often, after being persuaded to do so by Natalia's parents - she was too proud to ask, herself. But, ultimately, Daniel was raised in a home that was brimming with love. Though he couldn't always get new clothes when he needed them, or wasn't always able to eat seconds for dinner because they needed to keep plenty for the following day, he was never lacking in love and affection from his family. When he became school aged, he realized that not having a dad made him seem weird to the other kids. He visited Santiago from time to time, but those visits became more and more sparse over the years. Santiago had met someone much younger, got her pregnant, and married her shortly after she gave birth to twin boys.

One day, a flood wreaked havoc on Natalia's home. They lost almost all of their belongings. Pictures, scrapbooks, old toys and homework assignments, Daniel's used roller blades, Natalia's rented gowns for gigs, the couch they had forever which was already worn and tattered from use, along with all of the food in their fridge. They had to escape their house by climbing to the roof - thankfully, Daniel was old enough and strong enough, to help his mom - and flagging down a rescue boat. After that, they had to start over from scratch. They moved in with Natalia's parents, who welcomed them with open arms. Yet, Natalia felt guilty for staying with them. She felt guilty that she couldn't provide Daniel with a safe upbringing. Even though there was no way that she could have prepared for such a damaging flood.

In desperation, Natalia reached out to Santiago, but he had no plans of continuing to pay child support, and claimed to have no means to help them further. Even though his new wife was unemployed and living in the lap of luxury. It was hard to leave his mom and grandparents behind for college, but Natalia knew Daniel needed to go. She wanted the best for him. His mother persuaded him to go, to enjoy himself, and not to worry about her. But, he still does. Everyone scrounged up all of their money, even emptied the college savings fund that Daniel's grandparents started for him, putting it toward college. When Daniel was no longer a minor had more say in how often he'd visit his dad, he informed everyone involved that he would rather not visit Santiago's new family, if he didn't have to. Although it never seemed to bother him on a personal level, Daniel harbored some ill feelings toward his father and vowed to be a better man than him.

BACKGROUND:
CJ grew up in Mattapan with his parents Elsie and James Albright, a registered nurse and maintenance man for the government housing building they lived in.  They never had a lot of money, and the neighborhood was rough, but they were a happy little family who never had to struggle to the degree that many of their neighbors did.  CJ didn't have a lot of stuff, but he always had a roof over his head, plenty of food to eat and both of his parents present in his life, which was more than could be said for many of the other kids at his school.

He was not the best student, having difficulty with reading and comprehension, which they discovered was all down to him having dyslexia.  They figured it out when he was seven and he started attending special classes to help him learn to cope with it, which got him a little bit of flack from his classmates.  But, he let the teasing roll off his back, since it was well worth the newfound ability to do something that seemed to come so easily to everyone else.  Even after he started his special ed classes, he still didn't do amazingly in his classes, which came down to him just being more interested in running and being active.

As he grew up (and boy, did he grow up!), he began taking part in school sports, mostly basketball and baseball, though the baseball fell off as he transitioned from middle school to high school.  His height, agility and sped made him the perfect power forward, and he became a very gifted athlete and a less impressive student.  He managed to keep his grades up enough to maintain the required C average to stay on the team, but he'd be lying if he didn't admit to getting a little extra help sometimes.  It was just so hard to give a damn about boring dates and figures when the court was calling his name.

He graduated with a solid 2.7 GPA and a very impressive high school basketball career, which helped him acquire a partial scholarship to Raft coupled with his decent ACT scores.  Surprisingly enough, while he wasn't a very ambitious student, he was always pretty good at taking test, since they didn't take up any of his downtime and were usually pretty quick, so he was able to focus a lot better.  His first semester at college he went undeclared, certain that he was going to just play ball all through college until he could get drafted to a pro ball team.

However, that all changed when he got a nasty scare close to the end of his first season on the team.  He injured himself during a game and while it only benched him for the remainder of the season, it made him realize how fragile a career in professional sports really was.  So, when he returned to school in his second year, he took on the Youth and Social Innovation degree plan, remembering all the kids he went to school with and how much of a powerful impact a good role model could have in their lives.

Now, he still hopes for an eventual professional career, but he plans to transition into community support when he's ready to retire - or an injury forces him to retire.  He has dreams of funneling the money and fame from a pro basketball career into community centers where kids can go to hang out after school, places where they can get extra help with their schoolwork and where they can safely play without the less wholesome members of their community interfering.

FLAWS:

• Dyslexic - Just what it says on the tin.  While he's learned methods to cope with his learning difficulties, he still struggles with it and it makes him reticent to engage in anything requiring reading aloud.
• Hyperactive - While he was never diagnosed with ADHD, and even if he had been his parents wouldn't have put him on any sort of medication for it, anyhow, he definitely has a difficult time sitting still and focusing.  When he's engaged in a physical activity, he can be almost scarily intense and focused, but the minute he's not allowed to move, he can't quiet his brain and has a habit of fidgeting.
• Stretched Thin - He's simply involved in a whole lot of student activities, on top of his work and the stuff he does outside of school.  He wants to do it all, and sometimes it means that he sacrifices some of his own needs, like sleep or just relaxation in general.
• Lazy Student - Even though he wants to graduate and gives a shit about what he's learning in his new degree program, he's still not the best student.  He often uses the other things going on in his life and other responsibilities as an excuse to avoid doing necessary schoolwork.  He often has to ask for extensions and still sometimes gets more help than he should in order to maintain the necessary GPA to keep his spot on the team and the scholarship that comes with it.
• Disorganized - He never knows where the hell anything he owns is, even though he's not a messy person.   His mother instilled in him the habits of a clean room and he even does his own laundry on a weekly basis, but at any given moment he won't know where his backpack is, or his phone.  He usually eventually finds them, but always in the weirdest places.  He figures it's an extension of his tendency to be unfocused, which explains him leaving his phone in the communal fridge or his backpack on the basketball rack.

DESIRED PLOTS:

• Romance/Dating - CJ is a hopeless romantic who loves to spoil those he's in a relationship with, not necessarily with gifts, but more often with little gestures, like picking them a flower or just showing up to support them.  I'd love to see him develop a good relationship over time, maybe with someone unexpected.
• Tutoring - I think at some point I want to do a plot where he has to seek help from another student with one of his classes, because he knows that his scholarship and participation in sports are at risk if he doesn't.  I think his bad habit of trying to be lazy and get others to do his work for him might make for an interesting obstacle for the two to overcome.
• Frat Drama - Everyone knows there are some problematic things that can come up with frat guys.  This definitely doesn't need to involve a PC frat guy, but it would be interesting if some issue arose with one of his fraternity brothers that forced him to deal with the conflict between his loyalty to his brothers and his distaste for toxic behavior and/or disrespect for women.

Ignacio grew up given everything he ever wanted in lieu of the attention of his workaholic parents. This did not instill the healthiest views of family in him and most likely the breakthrough he may discover at some point in therapy. Despite all that, Ignacio grew up a fairly normal kid. He loves to surf, party and live that lifestyle people assumed people in California lived. During high school his house was the party house, he made plenty of friends and quite a following on social media before he met his current girlfriend and "settled" into his academics.

After he spent a gap year interning at a few tech companies, he decided to return to school to get his accreditations. Ignacio didn't want to commit to any company long term, not with the volatile nature of the industry. By returning to school, he hopes to have the safety net in the turbulent field before he decides to branch out on his own or commit to one company until they burn through their capital.
