Okay, I'll admit it.  My smutty side is wishing there were a couple of more casual group games out there where I could just indulge in a little sensual whimsy, and try out some characters that I'd find interesting to play without a mountain of background and plots that often seem to get lost when there is a smuttier focus anyway.

So ...

Here's the pitch -- a brothel game, but not just your regular, run of the mill brothel.

The One-Night Bride is a brothel located at the Bazaar (inspired by Robert Asprin's Myth Adventures setting, but without the characteristic slapstick humor).

The Bazaar occupies its own little pocket dimension.  It is a place where people come when they want something -- and often they don't even know how they got there, or how to get back if they wanted to.   There are many ways in, and many ways out, but those ways aren't easy to nail down, and maps are obsolete before the ink even dries.

It is a quasi-Middle Eastern setting, but there are bits of many cultures scattered about.    If it's been built, or sufficiently desired, it can be found at the Bazaar, lurking behind a door, beyond a tent flap, beneath some rusty grate or over a high wall.  It might even be found suspended and invisible, where a magician's rope trick ends in the sky.

The people, and creatures, who work at the brothel all found themselves at the Bazaar, one way or another.  As living in such a place is not cheap, they ended up selling what they could -- namely, some portion of themselves.  Some of them are practiced courtesans, others are hiding from things that most sane people probably wouldn't want to know about, and still others might be there because they need to pay back a debt of some kind, and some might be there just for slumming, a little excitement.   Nobody is held there against their will (whether they LIKE working there is possibly another story) and anyone can leave, so long as they take only what they've earned, minus a 'small' deduction for breaking their contract with the house.

The house is run by Madame Celeste, a succubus who usually interacts with others in human form.  She cultivates glamorous attire that she first discovered in a place called Hollywood where they created black and white illusions projected on a screen to entertain each other, lacking more robust magic.   She tolerates no violence at the One-Night Bride (other than what is bought and sold), and she keeps a security staff who can handle any big-ass baddie who thinks to disturb her establishment, those who work there, or those who come to barter for service.

Though the name of the brothel is the 'One-Night Bride', those who work there are certainly not exclusively women, and the customers are not exclusively men -- and nor are they all human, or even what they appear to be.  The statistics, if there are any regarding those who frequent the brothel, are a closely guarded secret, and usually attributed to be -- quite rightly -- little more than vicious rumor.

     

If there is enough interest, I'd be happy to create the game and kick it off.   A co-GM would be nice to help keep things going and organized.   There would be 'thematic events' at the brothel, advertised to draw people in, a luxurious 'common room' where people could interact and get to know the 'brides' who hope to attract their attention for at least a span of time, but hookups would be left to the players, as would posting speeds and such -- a completely casual, completely relaxed atmosphere.

All genders, all sexualities, all sexual preferences, (almost) all races, would be welcome in the game, as brothel 'brides' and as customers.  Ons/Offs and comfort levels would be expected to be honored.  Everything would be consensual, of course, but arranging to fulfill non-consensual fantasies could certainly be done at player/courtesan discretion.

Characters should fit the theme -- which is pretty broad -- but please give a thought to the quality of posts.  Readability, punctuation, spelling ... all those things should at least be more than an afterthought.  Hookups are purchased by the appeal of posts, after all.  The better a player's posting, the more that other people will want to write with them -- and creativity falls rather flat if sloppy presentation keeps others from wanting to read what's written.

I would reserve the right to refuse characters / players for writing that is hard to read, if I and any potential co-GM think that they would not be a good fit for the game, and, of course, for problem behavior outside the confines of fiction.

Anyone can play whatever gender they wish to play.  Staff/Brides(or Grooms)/Customers can be any gender.

Magic is definitely okay - just make it fit the background.  However, I'm thinking (still need to make sure Honeycrisp is good with this) that the brothel will have some sort of magic dampening in place and only 'approved' magic will get through.   So the sex magic would be allowed, so long as those it were used on would be aware and consenting.

Do you want writing samples or are you going to go by first posts?

We think the writing in the character sheet will be a good enough example, and if we have some concerns, we won't be shy about checking out post histories and/or asking questions.   Character sheets will be your first chance to convince others that they want to write with you.   It's the eye candy, so we will urge everyone to use them to wow prospective clients, and to have the brides/grooms fighting over (figuratively speaking only) who gets to lead them upstairs.

Will pictures be required?

Yes.  We're discussing what kind of pictures.  I know some people like to use anime style, but personally, I dislike them and consider them the "anti-sexy".  I'd like to require a non-anime pic be used in the main, but allow them used as secondary pictures in character sheets, but I'll see what Honeycrisp thinks. 

We'll have the code used for post headers readily available.  Some people, like me, are quite visual and like to have that 'marker' to hang their head on.

I was thinking of playing a male heterosexual customer whose work is elsewhere in the bazaar, but likes to use his juggling and tumbling skills to try and entertain and amuse the other customers and employees of the One-Night Bride.

I think there had been a mention of character limits.  What I'm thinking for the start is that we would limit characters to one of each type:

1 customer
1 'bride/groom'
1 staff

Not everyone would want to have different types, and there'd certainly be no requirement to have more than one.   Having a second character of the same type would depend on proven posting and the needs of the game -- priority would be given to another 'bride' type if said bride was of a type that a customer was looking for but was otherwise unavailable.  Likewise, if there are a dearth of customers, we would consider allowing someone to create another customer character, but would prefer a little OOC discussion between those looking for someone to interact with beforehand.

I think both Honeycrisp and I are pretty laid back where that goes, but we'd like to do this with an eye toward giving everyone optimum opportunity to find someone they'd enjoy writing with, both for sexy times and for more casual interaction.    We can't guarantee that, of course, but it's what we will strive to achieve.  We'd also like to ask players not to attempt to create more characters than they can reasonably play.  If one character isn't finding anyone to pair with, we would certainly consider letting the player put one character 'on break' and bring out another, regardless of type.

The biggest thing I will ask of all players is to be respectful of the other players -- not leaving people hanging without a word, informing those you're writing with of problems or delays (or informing the GMs so that we can help if there's something you don't want to address yourself), and just basically treating others as you'd like to be treated.   If a player gets tired of waiting on a response (given a reasonable wait - see below point) then it should be perfectly okay for said player to wrap up a conversation, a scene, etc. and move on to something else without guilt or hard feelings on either end.

We're planning to ask that a 'general' posting speed be part of each character sheet, and while it won't be a hard and fast rule, it should help people decide on interactions -- if you post multiple times a day, it might not be the best thing to do to 'hook up' with someone who knows they will post once or twice a week.

Nobody is held at the brothel against their will (whether they LIKE working there is possibly another story) and anyone can leave, so long as they take only what they've earned, minus a 'small' deduction for breaking their contract with the house.  Contracts are magical agreements, tattoos that will appear when they are needed to be seen, that convey Madame Celeste’s protection upon the wearer, both bride and brothel staff.    They also convey to the succubus where the wearer is at any time, so sneaking off is not generally regarded a good idea.     The brothel workers are not prisoners, by any means, but they are expected to work when they are scheduled, and Madame Celeste is somewhat a sticker for the keeping of contracts.

Though the name of the brothel is the 'One-Night Bride', those who work there are certainly not exclusively women, and the customers are not exclusively men -- and nor are they all human, or even what they appear to be.  The statistics, if there are any regarding those who frequent the brothel, are a closely guarded secret, and usually attributed to be -- quite rightly -- little more than vicious rumor.

With the Bazaar being so huge, there are two other brothel houses, The Pink Hydra & Heaven’s Gates.   There is a long-standing rivalry between the brothels, though it is more good natured than mean-spirited, and a history of pranks being pulled, like the time when the proprietor of Heaven’s Gates snuck through a little spell that made everyone sing their negotiations for an evening, or the one where the Pink Hydra bribed the catering staff to wash all glasses with a formula made from distilled displacer beast urine that caused … things … to dodge intended targets, resulting in much frustration, hilarity, and creativity.

     

Honeycrisp & I will serve as GMs, will approve character sheets, open threads, answer questions, and facilitate game play as best as we are able.  We may also play brides/customers.   We will arrange thematic events from time to time, and perhaps suggest performances.  Hookups / scenes will be left to the players, as is posting speeds and such -- a completely casual, completely relaxed atmosphere.

The setting seems pretty broad and open to diverse ideas, so I was thinking maybe a kitsune from either actual feudal Japan, or some Japanese/Asian-inspired fantasy setting, like Kara-Tur of the Forgotten Realms or Tian Xia from Pathfinder.

A genderfluid (probably feminine pronouns, though I doubt she'd take offense to anything else, especially if she took a more masculine form... in fact, I'm not even sure what pronouns I'd use as her writer in such a form... maybe they/them/their would be better after all...) shapeshifter who often blurs the lines and takes a feminine hermaphrodite form.

Despite how much money that could probably make her, I'm thinking she'd be a frequent costumer, probable able to find her way back in more easily than most due to her inherently magical nature.

She's also probably a really generous tipper, but usually with money she stole from someone back in her native realm.

We've got some great sheets thus far, but there's still plenty of room for characters of all types.  If you don't want to be a courtesan (bride or groom) or necessarily a client, we would also accept brothel staff,  bartender, security, etc.

Most of the posting rates listed for accepted sheets are 1-3 posts per week, so it should be a relaxed sort of atmosphere.  Game kickoff in earnest likely by Friday at the latest, perhaps sooner with sheets/time allowing.

As Honeycrisp says, we don't expect there to be a lot of need for security interaction, but a security presence will definitely be there.  There would be opportunity to interact in friendly manner with the clients, courtesans and other staff, but I would probably recommend that 'staff' be a secondary character for a bit of light interaction, possibly along with a client or courtesan character for primary.

Just getting started, but it seems there are a few things we could use:

1) Courtesans (of all sexual preferences) who are interested in a bit of BDSM play
2) Courtesans/Clients not of the heterosexual persuasion
3) Courtesans/Clients of more exotic races/appearances

That doesn't mean other courteseans or clients aren't welcome.

Staff characters are also welcome -- security, waitresses, bartenders and the like, but we really would prefer that anyone who wants a staff character also have a client or courtesan character as well, as the possibilities for interaction will be broader with those types.

A sense of humor, and/or whimsy is also welcome.  We've got some great characters, and below is some snippets from some of the meetings between them thus far:

His meandering course around the room brought him close to Snogflog by simple happenstance. His eyes locked on her once more. He wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or his ego-boosting discussion with Celeste, but he found himself walking quietly, subtly sneaking up on Snogflog.

At only an inch taller than him, she made a good fit for him, height-wise. His feet glided him close, closer, until he was right behind her. His hand slid down the back of her leather skirt, cupping her ass for a moment before giving it a solid pinch. "I may not be ready for it tonight," he said quietly - not whispering, but low enough that it would not carry more than a few feet - "but you will be my slave one day. Perhaps some day soon."

For Snogflog the pinching phase didn't last long, after the first five men had their noses broken and a few arms and legs cracked people got the hint it was perhaps not a good idea unless you are tough enough to handle her. And when the famous flutist Master Lodovico of Milan found himself farting in a very musical manner from having his flute shoved up his rear it pretty much stopped all together. And with very minimal damage to furniture all things considered.

So when she feels a hand sliding over her ass followed by the pinch there is an audible gasp from those that see what is happening, and more than one person quickly shuffles a few steps back to avoid getting blood on them. Normally she would turn around and knock him out cold but it is his words that stop her, her long ears are not just for show so she hears him quite clearly and the challenge in his words is unmistakable. Now THAT is something she hasn't heard in a while and her mood instantly brightens, today will be a good day!

Slowly she turns around with a wide grin on her face, that is to say she looks about ready to tear someone apart but her eyes are brimming with joy not anger as she looks him over. Sure he doesn't look like much, but as she knows all to well looks can be deceiving. After all the Madam doesn't look like much other than a stunningly beautiful woman, but even Snogflog wouldn't dare test her strength. So her eyes bore into his before slamming her forehead down on his, not as hard as she can really. Just more of a lovetap to start and gauge his strength. As he staggers back, she takes a step forward and slides one arm under his left armpit and puts a foot before his so that when she all but lifts him up he can't find any traction on the floor. So his body sails in a wide arc through the air and slams down on a table that thankfully breaks in a most satisfying manner and has the added effect of absorbing most of the force. Even as splinters sail through the air Snogflog resigns herself to another fine from the lovely Madam, meh it is worth it.

“Pleased to meet you, I am Snogflog Nosebiter. Daughter of the Shattered Hand Clan.”

That her Mother had always been so against Andrea’s choice in life, despite her own history as a Courtesan, oft befuddled the willowy blonde beauty.  Her Father, like her Mother, practically defined the term sensuality, it was a very large part of why they had been drawn so irresistibly to one another, why he had paid such a fortune to pay off her remaining contract so that he could bring her home to his world and take her as his bride.  Truly, she, like most of her class, almost a caste-like social system predominated her homeworld, would choose to follow in one of her parent’s footsteps.  Though she understood that her Mother had not become a Courtesan out of voluntary choice, as Andrea had, would she really have preferred her only daughter to follow in the footsteps of her Father?  It was not as if Andrea were anything less than a Daddy’s girl growing up, but though the man worked for their government and was considered a warrior of the most revered degree, it was quite a bit of wallpapering over what his vocation actually was…an assassin, and in incredibly renowned one at that.

The physical gifts that cybernetics and caste-driven selective breeding had blessed those of Andrea’s world that would be considered her peer group led quite strongly to their taking up the more physical and martial of sports, arts and careers.  Andrea herself was strong, fast and, if she needed to be, quite deadly, but never by choice, nor by assignment, rather only in defense of herself or others would she strike.  Walking into the Great Room, she entered just in time to see Snogflog, such an outrageous and outgoing beauty, an utterly incomparable in Andrea’s mind, hard tossing a rather handsome and apparently frisky fellow through the air and a table.  The verdant-fleshed beauty had the undeniable joy and panache to be both warrior and Courtesan, and to wear those titles with equal pride and aplomb, unlike Andrea, whom would kill, and had several times done so, for the Bazaar was not an easy place to live within and stay that way, with cold and ruthless efficiency, seeking only to keep the death she dealt out as painless as possible.  Andrea took no joy in it, while she reveled in being a bride, one joined to a partner or pair anew each evening.

Just an FYI, but Nyte Hellstrom is heavily inspired/ripped off from an erotic horror writer called Many Eyed Hydra.  He specializes in....shall we say, messy endings for his male characters, who typically end up either dead or transformed into inhuman abominations in some way or another.  Most of the time though, they go out with a smile on their face.  :D  This Nyte however is considerably toned down from the one he writes in his stories, but I can tone her down more or change characters entirely if you need me to do so.  See ya and I hope you like her folks.  ;D

RACE/RACE DESCRIPTION:  Succubus from the Nine Hells  She can shapeshift effortlessly and feeds harmlessly from the chi of her bed partners.  A simple kiss is enough to get things started, but it's rarely ever enough to make her 'full'.  Only a proper fucking can do that.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:  Nyte favors black, dark blues, and purple silk or satin dresses, tight leather corsets with or without metal buckles, and leather and latex bodysuits that do little to hide her voluptuous figure and form.  If anything, most of her outfits seem to accentuate everything.  Despite being able to shapeshift effortlessly just like any succubus or incubus, Nyte prefers to stick to her form and figure that she has always known.  As such, it is all too common to see her with long, almost light absorbing jet black hair that falls down to the middle of her perfectly sculpted hips, back, and rear end.  Her breasts are large double Ds, often pushed up and restrained just enough to be pleasantly uncomfortable for her within her chosen outfit for the day.  Her skin is the color of polished marble, and she seems to naturally exude a dark, regal aloofness that feels cold and unnatural to the unprepared.  But like any demon of her ilk, her passions run hot.  Despite her well known reputation for cruelty and sadism, both giving and receiving, her normally black, abyssal eyes has on occasion held uncharacteristic warmth and sympathy for the innocent and the downtrodden.  No one knows why anymore save for a very few select demons, and they know better than to talk about their Mistress.

PERSONALITY:  Nyte is as regal as she is heavily influenced by the much darker desires of the mortal races.  She caters to the far more kinkier forms of sex, with a particularly strong fondness for being in control.  Regal and aloof in her mannerisms, if you earn her attention, count yourself either very lucky or very unfortunate.  Despite her often cruel and sadistic nature, Nyte has, on occasion, gone out of her way to protect the innocent and to grant last requests to those on death's door that spark her interest, or rather her supposedly long since buried humanity.  Granted, she's never been human, but the term still applies since she does have good and honest friends, although they tend to also enjoy the same things she does.  When she's not patrolling the halls of her horrifically intricate dungeons in the depths of her father's castle, Nyte often sits on the slightly smaller throne in her audience hall, a glass of spiced wine in one hand and a book in the other, appearing the perfect picture of cold, distant authority and regal trappings that most noble women can only aspire towards, and men happily throw themselves at her feet just to be in her shadow.  She's happy to receive their adoration, and isn't shy about stepping on those she deems beneath her., oftentimes in high heels.

SEXUAL LIKES:  She's a queen in her own right, even if she hasn't been crowned, exactly.  Therefore, Nyte much prefers to be on top at all times, but for a sufficiently perverse partner, she'll yield....for a little while at least.  It's a well known fact unfortunately, that Nyte has a slight problem with mixing pain and pleasure and vice versa, so she loves heavier forms of BDSM and far rougher sex than most.  Fendom is also a big thing with her, regardless of the gender(s) involved, as is cuckolding/cuckqueening.  Collars, chains, manacles, and whips are also favored by her....or on her.  She has a fondness for nipple piercings and collars, preferably on her partners.

Background (Known)  Goddess of Nyte, Queen Hellstrom, Mistress Nyte, her titles are many and her reach is long in the orderly chaos that is the Nine Hells.  But even a 'Goddess' must stoop to conquer every now and again.  Or in this case, even a Queen needs a break from the constant backstabbing and political maneuverings that are commonplace in the Hells, where a friend one day is an enemy the next or vice versa.  She has a half sister that, on another plane of existence currently, that Nyte hates with a passion, but for now she's content to leave her alone.  When she goes back to the Nine Hells, she might pay Beatrix a visit, but for now she just wishes to indulge herself for the next century or so without fear of someone trying to kill her in her sleep.

Background (Not Common Knowledge) For all of her royal airs and perversions, Nyte often goes out of her way to be merciful to those that she feels a connection towards.  While she'd never admit it, even if someone calls her out on it, she wasn't always a 'Queen' in the Hells under her father's dominion.  She used to be like Beatrix, her half sister, long ago, but the very long years in the Nine Hells changed her.  Or rather, a single person did that to her, but it's not a story she'll ever tell again.  And for those that know it, they know better than to ever repeat it since she doesn't like to be reminded of the foolish, naive little succubus she used to be.  That girl was weak and pathetic.  Nyte has long since buried her.....or so she tries to tell herself in her darkest days anyway.  Suffice it to say, the short version is that Nyte was forcibly introduced to what she now enjoys regularly, until her mind was shattered and put back together by the demon who had taken it upon himself to forge a 'Queen' worthy of his status.  He got more than he bargained for, and she ended up killing him.  She kept his status, his immense wealth of corrupted souls, and his entire estate in the Hells for herself, as is their way, and quickly rose to prominence with her father's blessing.  Her victories in the Hells are her own, but a thousand years of only the occasional summonings to the mortal planes, of doling out what she deems to be justice against the wicked, and of the most perverse acts one could ever envision can only sustain someone so far in the Nine Hells.  But now the Night Throne lies empty, with a loyal retainer filling in for Nyte as she takes a much needed vacation.  But while she leaves her self made crown on her throne, she does not allow herself to forget her rank and the strength needed to break her own chains so long ago.  Even as she binds and joyfully corrupts everyone that has already started on the road to self damnation, she keeps that in the back of her mind at all times.  But despite her nature, Nyte is not entirely without her redeeming qualities.  The trick is getting to know her well enough first before she can get her claws in.
