Choose Your Own Path story time

The idea is simple: I post the beginning of a story over in the storyteller's forum. At the end of the post is a list of options, and a corresponding poll attached to the thread. After a certain amount of time passes--say a week--the vote is tallied and the next post is written based on the outcome of the vote.

What do you think? Would this idea work? Would a poll be an appropriate use for this?

I know that there was a story like that at one point that was quite popular.

It was Fate. GT and Paradox did it. There is the writing thread and a separate discussion thread. People could vote on which way the story could go.

I think what I'll do is start a story about a high school senior. That seems to be a popular trope, and I have some ideas.
