In this time, there is no Shepard; great soldier and hero to every inhabitant in the universe. In this time, Reapers do not torment or live as just a mere horror legend to scare organic beings. What takes place now, in this Mass Effect Universe, is something unexpected – but not completely. Remember the Thorian? You know the giant plant like species that could just mind control and duplicate any organic species within their range? The Thorian has reached heights that no one thought possible for such stationary, plant like species. The Exogeni Corporation and its employees, along with the Feros colony, have worked alongside the Thorian as mind slaves. Against their will, the Exogeni employees have started to spread Thorian seeds to different organic colonies in attempt to control and dominant every lesser species in the galaxy. The process is slow, but happening under Alliance and Council radar.

It is up to new found heroes to get to the root of the problem and stop it from spreading. There will be challenges; however, many players will face enemies and those willing to assist the Thorian to achieve its ultimate goal. The most frightening thing is not knowing exactly what they’re capable of. The Thorian, which was already an established intelligent species, can now transfer and alter organic appearance through sexual means. That’s right folks – we have some real Alien shit going on here.

What our people do now will be the Legacy they leave behind for the universe. If they fail, then the legacy left to future generations will be enthrallment under a being akin to a God. If they win, they pave the way for a peaceful galaxy. One the Stargazer would be proud to tell a story of.

Game Notes

•   The Mass Effect universe is open as a massive playground for everyone to explore. So basically it is a sandbox game with a plot, but not necessarily an ending.
•   This is story driven with tons of character interaction and a few well-known NPCs
•   The story will not have a Shepard mentioned or even in it. The Reapers do not and have not ever existed, and there is no Genophage either. This is only so that players who have not finished the games or playing through them can avoid as many spoilers as possible.
•   For the sake of keeping this game sexy and not vomit inducing….there will be certain races that I will not allow for main characters, such as; Volus, Vorcha, Elcor, Hanar, Yahg, etc
•   Despite no Shepard and no Reapers, other entities and organizations will still exist, for example The Shadow Broker (galactic information dealer), Cerberus (Extremist Human Advancement Group), etc...
•   I don’t trust anyone who has a Space Cow
This group game will take place in extreme for the sake of making this RP as real to the ME world as possible. HOWEVER this does not mean I will allow sick shit (imo) in the game. This goes for; vore, scat, bathroom play in general, snuff, death of characters without player consent and anything players don’t agree to beforehand.
•   Certain Canon's will be available for play and NPC's. You can view the list in the later posts which will be written up by Juggtacular. If you have any questions, please feel free to message either of us.

•   Any PMs must have us both included so that we know all that’s going on.
•   Drama is not allowed in the Interest thread or OOC. Disagreements and debates are welcome, but berating, nitpicking, or otherwise being very mean to any of the players will not be tolerated.
•   We are open to character and mission ideas. Just PM us a premise and we can see about working it into the game.  That way, they can make their own missions from time to time. Give the players a bit of interactive control.
•   This is a literate roleplay which means….I expect quality in everyone’s post. Please take the time to make at least 3 to 4 paragraphs a post, if it’s 1 paragraph or a few sentences, I will think that you’re not interested in the story or character development.
•   I do not expect everyone to post 10 times a day, 7 days a week. I do however expect players to put a little time and dedication into the roleplay. If you’re in a scene with someone, do not leave them hanging for weeks at a time. Please be courtesy and let us all know if you have to take time away and will be back. Personality: Partially raised in almost complete isolation, Marshall is a bit of an introvert. He has no problems working alone, and is a bit guarded when meeting new people. He's not against working with people or a team though, and once you do get to know him, he's a personable and pretty social person.

He has a somewhat grim sense of humor due to being in the military for so long. Joking about death, torture, dismemberment, and other heinous things is second nature to him at this point. He's a loyal soldier, and will never leave a man behind if he can help it.

And if he can't he'll shoulder their sacrifice for the rest of his days. He is also dedicated to his job, and bribing him is nearly impossible. Even if he accepts, chances are he's just doing so to put himself in a better position before bringing the hammer down. Marshall is a consummate professional, and always strives for perfection from himself and others.

Failure is not an option, but it is an inevitable circumstance. As long as he and whoever he worked with did everything in their power to succeed, then he won't be too upset by a loss.  He is a habitual flirt, and pretty damn charming. He once wooed an Asari Matriarch just to prove he could...those were a wonderful few months.

Background:   The man known as Marshall Kennedy was born as a result of humans not being able to shed who they were before leaving Earth. What that means is, despite the races being closer than ever, and all the things that everyone has been through...humanity still wants to be the best. Human Biotics were good, but on more than average, Asari Biotics and Krogan Battlemasters were just better.

Attempts had already been made at making an amazing human biotic; like Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training(BAaT), also known as Brain Camp. As well as the experiments that led to the powerful, but highly unstable Subject Zero, and the Ascension Project. But failure was only the inspiration for tomorrow's breakthrough, and success was merely a stepping stone to perfection. Which meant that the journey to making a better biotic continued. Terrance and Paige Henson were a couple who volunteered for the Alliance's top secret research base crew.

And Paige unknowingly volunteered to be subjected to extremely high amounts of Eezo while in utero. She and about 2 dozen other women all volunteered" to see if abnormally high exposure would induce any increased effects beyond what had become the standard. The people living and working on the base thought they were all just doing highly classified research. The people monitoring the base from the outside knew better, and performed tests on them without their knowledge.

Many of the babies didn't make it; most of the rest came out deformed or ill in some way. Marshall was the only one to come out happy and healthy, but his birth had been one of the last, so his parents knew something was wrong before he came. His father found out the truth and went AWOL with his budding family, so Marshall wouldn't be raised as a human weapon. His parents had done a lot of things for a lot of people, so disappearing and starting fresh wasn't too hard. And on the plus side, Marshall's Biotic levels were also incredibly potent.

He was fitted with his implants when he was the right age, and began training immediately. A unique side-effect from his heightened biotics was a strange red coloration of his energy as opposed to the normal blackish-blue. Over the years it would come to light that Cerberus had infiltrated the Alliance and the entire Manifest Unity project was reported directly to the Illusive Man.

This massive breach of security caused the Alliance to reimburse a majority of the people who had worked there to cover their own asses, and it allowed Marshall and his family to come out of hiding. Although he was given a different last name to keep him safe.  He continued to train until he was old enough to enlist at his parents behest. You might think it strange that after getting him away from the Alliance, they'd throw him right back. But there was a method to the madness. If he joined the Alliance, he would just be seen as a highly skilled Biotic, and they could never have enough of them.

No one would ever think he was the son of the one couple that had no birth records from the "Manifest Unity" station, and suddenly disappeared. From the moment he left boot camp, Marshall was on the fast track to success and rapidly climbed the ladder. He made N7 in a few short years, and was considered for being chosen as one of the first human Spectre's; however another candidate, Beverly Kendricks was also put forth.

It would be a competition as to who would become the first Specture to represent humanity. Marshall was mentored by Nihlus Kyrik for a year and a half, while his counterpart was mentored by a Salarian Spectre. When the training was finished, a joint mission was undertaken by Marshall and Beverly with Nihlus overseeing it. The job was to find a terror cell that had been bombing civilian cruise ships after looting them, leaving the people aboard to float in space if the ship wasn't obliterated.

Nihlus had been chasing them for a while and when he finally found them, he figured taking them down would be a good test for his candidates. Things went routinely at first, until reinforcements came and the three of them got cornered in a warehouse. Nihlus and his candidates were much better in a fight, but the terrorists had heavy ordinance and numbers. They couldn't break through to get them, so they decided to just bring the whole place down.

An explosive barrage against a supporting pillar weakened the integrity of the warehouse, and the three got separated. The terrorists took advantage of that and tried to escape. Marhsall was the only one who could get to them, but he disobeyed a direct order to complete the mission to save both Nihlus and his opponent from a collapsing roof.

But not before slipping a tracer on one of the terrorists they'd been hunting. Because of his quick thinking, he not only saved both of them but they now had a way to track the group back to their main base of operations. When they found it, the three of them cleaned house and called in a crew to handle the leftovers.

A few weeks later Nihlus' report was read over several times and Marshall was made the first human Spectre. His proficiency and Nihlus' glowing report began to open the Council's eyes to how much they'd been underestimating humanity, and already more humans were being considered to be made Spectre's.

Description: Marshall stands at about 6'3, and he weighs roughly 240lbs, which is far more muscle than not. A lifestyle of constant activity and murder will do that for you. He's not pale, but he's not quite tan either. He's lived in space more or less all his life and it seems his skin will never feel the kiss of the sun. He's got brown hair which he styles(right now he's got the sides of his head shaved), and a scruffy beard/goatee combo thing goin' on. His biotics and eyes glow red as a result of the far beyond "safe" levels of eezo he was exposed to in utero...he thinks it's pretty badass, and very helpful when it comes to intimidation.  He's got a tongue piercing, and he speaks with a distinctive South London accent as that's where his parents are from(Brixton).

Ship: The Laurentian - The Laurentian is a frigate class vessel; a bit sleeker in design than standard, but it doesn't lack for weapons and armor. In fact it has a bigger punch and a tougher hull than most would expect from a craft that size. Where the Laurentian really excels though is speed and maneuverability as well as it's stealth capabilities. Wraith needs to get places quickly and quietly; and his job means sometimes he has to blow up ships while avoiding getting blown up himself. It's a tough job, but his baby and his crew are always up for the task.

Taevia Mortis - Asari Ardat-Yakshi by la dame en noir

Appearance: Taevia stands at five feet eight inches in height. She is a curvaceous Asari, which many of her victims find most alluring about her. Her eyes are a steel blue and she has white dotted markings covering around her eyes and place over her scalp. Taevia prefers to wear dark clothing, sometimes leather and other garments which make her alluring to the eye. Appearances can fool a lot of people.

Affiliation: Herself, occasionally she dabbles with Aria.

Background/Personality: Taevia Mortis was born as a pure blood Asari in a world where being pure blood was frowned upon. Growing up, Taevia did not understand why she got so much flak from society because of her background and her parents often kept things very vague for her. She was different from the other Asari, but she didn’t know why. She was teased relentlessly by other Asari children and often pushed herself away from most people when she was in their presence. She was strange, but highly intelligent – using her free time to study her biotic powers.

During her first part of her early stages as a matron, Taevia fell in love with a Quarian female she met during the girl’s pilgrimage. The Asari was attracted to her inability to ever be able to physically touch her for fear of sickness, but she loved the girl’s out-going personality and quick witted way of talking. Coming from Thessia, she had very little interaction with other alien species and found her to be quite intriguing.

Taevia discovered her condition through means that destroyed her from the inside out. When her lover finally agreed to be intimate with her, she killed her. Taevia did not know how or why, but there she was - lying dead in her arms after convulsing violently for thirty seconds. Frightened, she left her lover in hopes that someone else would find her and escaped immediately from Omega to Thessia to confront her parents. Once there, her parents explained that she was in fact an Ardat-Yakshi and when she is intimate with another, they will die on contact.

The news not only devastated Taevia, but shaped who she is now. She left Thessia after the attempt to keep her in a sanctuary and is now rogue throughout the terminus systems and currently resides in Omega. With news of the Thorian and its goal, she hopes to persuade it to help all bring Ardat-Yakshi peace and proper place in the universe. She will do anything and everything to achieve this goal.

Goal: Taevia has no real goal. She is simply evil because society has taught her to hate. The once loving and caring girl is now on a rampage to kill or be killed. She does not kill in massive quantities, but she picks her victims carefully. Taevia feels that the Thorian is the Ardat-Yakshi’s answer to a normal life and she will do anything and everything to help it achieve its goal.

Ons: She can’t be intimate with anyone – though there are these human inventions called Dildos. Taevia is an aggressive and dominant character. If she wanted to fuck someone without killing them(women only) she would use toys and would never kiss or touch them otherwise.
Offs: Nothing to put here, she won’t be fucking many people to begin with.

Other Information & Resources

As Mass Effect takes place just as much in the galaxy surrounding these worlds as the worlds themselves, having a means of transportation is extremely important. Can't stay stuck on Virmire your whole life now can you? There is a set ship class system in place in the Mass Effect universe; one which we will employ(with a bit of tweaking). However as the larger varieties of ship(Cruiser, Carrier, Dreadnought, etc...) are only for pitched battles and for higher ranked people, they're unnecessary aside from GM/NPC use.

Ship Classes

Fighter - A one person spacecraft designed for up close combat and skirmishes. These ships are small, fast, and extremely maneuverable. They lack heavy firepower and shielding, but more than make up for that with blinding speed and maneuverability. If properly outfitted, they can do some decent damage against Freighters and Frigates, although you'll rarely see a Fighter go in for the kill. (Think X-Wing)

Freighter - A larger craft that is not only highly customizable, but boasts incredible speed and combat capabilities. While much larger than a Fighter, a Freighter can still be fully operated by a single person. Some Freighters may even house a  fighter or two if their cargo hold is large enough. (Think Ebon Hawk)

Frigate - The same class of ship as the Normandy SR-1 and SR-2. These ships are the perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and power for their size. Nobody may have a ship of a higher class than a Frigate, and we are only allowing 2 of these starting out, as these ships are fairly large and require a decent crew to function at full capacity.(30+) Your character will need a good reason to have a ship this size.

Beginner's Guide to the world of Mass Effect

Hey everybody, I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man co-GM, Juggtacular! And this list is essentially here to help those of you who like the concept and are interest in Mass Effect, but haven't played the trilogy or read the books or all of that other tedious stuff to really get the feel of how it works. So I've basically compiled some basic stuff to help you understand how things work better so the game and the posts read better.

For example, despite being the future, there are no such thing as "blaster rifles" like in Star Wars. Instead bullets the size of a grain of sand are shaved off of a block of metal within the gun and accelerated through micro mass effect fields like "hyper bullets". A paint chip accelerated with a large enough mass effect field can impact with the force of a nuclear weapon. Awesome right?! Well there's lots of stuff like that and my job is to help make it a bit more user friendly. I'll be giving descriptions, but will have links as well so you can go more in depth if you so choose. Here we go!


Mass Effect Fields: The game got it's name from the titular "Mass Effect" Field that essentially makes moving around the universe possible and a ton of other useful things. A mass effect field is generated when "Element Zero", or Eezo, a rare material is subjected to powerful electric currents. The reaction is the creation of "Dark Energy" which allows a Mass Effect field to be created. They're called Mass Effect fields as the mass of anything within the field can be affected by adding a positive or negative electrical charge. Positive current makes the mass increase, negative makes it decrease. [Mass Effect Field]

Element Zero: Element Zero, also known as "eezo", is a rare material that, when subjected to an electrical current, releases dark energy which can be manipulated into a mass effect field, raising or lowering the mass of all objects within that field. A positive current increases mass, a negative current decreases it. This "mass effect" is used in countless ways, from generating artificial gravity to manufacturing high-strength construction materials. It is most prominently used to enable faster-than-light space travel without causing time dilation. In it's dust form, exposure to eezo in utero can strengthen the chances of a child being born with Biotic capabilities. Although just as often, if not more so it has no effect or just results in cancer. [Eezo]

Weaponry: All firearms of all shapes and sizes in this day and age are powered by Mass Accelerators, leaving the archaic concept of gunpowder(and whatever methods non-human races used) and such a thing of the past. Put simply, the Mass Accelerator in a weapon(pistol or a ships main gun) uses a combination of electromagnetics to launch the projectile like a rail gun, and in conjunction with a mass effect field, said projectile can have it's mass reduced to allow for higher travel speeds which translates to much higher velocity. Ammunition is no longer a problem as thousands of rounds can be spat out from a single "ammo block", a cube of metal housed within the weapon that has a piece shaved off to serve as ammunition. However, this method causes extreme heat buildup, so "Thermal Clips" are used to absorb that heat, then ejected from the weapon so it can continue firing normally.[Mass Accelerator] / [Weapons]

Mass Relay: The Mass Relay's are those giant, mysterious monolith's just floating out in deep space. However each one is nearly indestructible(made from the same stuff as the Citadel), and makes travel through the many galaxies of the universe possible. Even at FTL(Faster-than-Light) speeds, going from one end of one galaxy to the other would take centuries, much less traveling to a different portion of the universe. The Relays bypass this limitation by creating a tunnel of sorts between two Relays. One that makes everything inside virtually free of mass. By reducing the mass of a ship to 0, it can reach speeds far beyond even FTL, which allows one to literally go from one corner of creation to the other in a matter of days at the most. [Mass Relay]

Kinetic Barriers: Called "shields" colloquially through the universe, Kinetic Barriers are in essence, mass effect fields generated around a person or thing through generators that cause most things launched by a mass accelerator to be deflected. Essentially it's a bulletproof shield for whatever you have it around. However a barrier can only take so much damage before being forcibly shut down and needing to recharge. [Kinetic Barrier]

Biotics: Biotics is the process an organic being creating naturally creating mass effect fields to effect the environment around them. It is also the title put on anyone who possesses the ability. i.e., "Dwayne is a biotic". While Asari are all naturally born with varying levels of Biotic power, every other race must be helped along by exposure to eezo while in utero. If successful the biotic will develop nodules throughout their nervous system that actually generate element zero, which in turn allows the person to manipulate that to fuel their biotic abilities by focusing the electric current generated from brain commands and releasing dark energy which is used to manipulate the environment. But for these abilities to actually be effective, biological amplifiers are surgically implanted throughout the body to increase the power generated. Again, as Asari are naturally biotic, they have no need for the bio-amps. [Biotics]

There are a multitude of jobs available to your characters, however everybody can't be C-Sec or a Spectre, etc, etc... So we're implementing a limit on important job types for the time being.

Spectre: For the moment, we will be accepting a maximum amount of 4 Spectres, not including my character. Keep in mind that Council Races tend to get preferential treatment to be made Spectres. i.e. Human, Asari, Turian, or Salarian at the moment, and on a case by case basis we will look at any inquiries to make a non-council race a Spectre, like a Krogan, Quarian or Batarian.

Systems Alliance Officer: About 6 or 7 of these at most. This covers any position within the Alliance like "Pilot", "Soldier", "Medic", "Spec-Ops", etc...

Council Officer: This includes any job where you report in some way to the Council. C-Sec, Citadel Fleet, Salarian STG, Council Demilitarization Enforcement Mission(who work with Tuchanka's government to keep the checks and balances running that allows Krogan out into the galaxy), etc... About the same as the Alliance, so 6 or 7.

Cerberus: 5, maybe 6 Cerberus operatives will be allowed. Anyone Cerberus must be human. Remember they're pro-human to the point of near racism.

Geth: 3 at max for the moment(including Legion with some tweaking). Any playable Geth will be in the extreme minority as 99.9% of them remain behind the Perseus Veil to stay away from the organics who they feel will continue to attack them simply for existing. The remaining percent available to characters would be free thinkers who realize that organics fear AI for the potential they represent to replace them, but not all of them will attack on sight or try to obliterate them. They would be the few that have the courage to leave the veil so to speak.

All other positions like Mercenary, Freelancer, Hacker, Omega Gang Member, etc... are free to as many people that want them. If it's a specialized position like you want to report directly to Aria or something like that, feel free to PM la dame or myself with your proposal.

As the RP grows, the limits will of course be expanded upon to allow for more people.

Yes, being a Fighter Pilot is acceptable. You could also be the pilot for a  Freighter or Frigate vessel as well(like Joker for the Normandy). Bigger than that you get Cruisers and such and those take multiple people to pilot and don't see much action aside from patrol and heavy space battles.

It would sound like a noble ambition, unless one knew the sorts of clients that employ him… or the ruthless tactics he utilises to carry out his work. Part bodyguard and part insurance policy, Thaddeus has recently founded a lucrative career in ensuring some of the galaxy’s most wanted individuals escape reprisal, be it formal arrest, or a Council-sanctioned assassination attempt.

I’ll send a PM through in a short while, but I do have a few questions for the thread in general:

• Are villains aligned with the main antagonist(s), Thorian? Or are they free to pursue their own agenda?
• Do Cerberus characters have to be outright evil? Without going into any spoilers, Mass Effect 2 showed that there was a reverse side to Cerberus’s sinister image: many of its members initially believed it was a force for good, and that its pro-human agenda wasn’t necessarily hostile to the interests of other races.

Needless to say, this thread has me more than a little excited ;)

No, Villains do not have to be aligned with the Thorian, they could even want to kill them off themselves. A bad guy with their own agenda is awesome (and quite sexy as well).

And also no, Cerberus peeps can be evil, neutral, good or what have you. I know exactly what you mean and I would hate to have characters/players limited to what they can do.

The Thorian for the most part takes what it wants. And while it's possible to ally with it willingly, it's not mandatory. A weapons dealer would for example be highly inconvenienced if the Thorian took over everything and everyone. Bye bye business for one thing, lol.

And again in agreement with my co-gm. You've got people like Kelly Chambers. She was adamant in her belief that while Cerberus was Pro-Human, that didn't make it Anti-Alien(everybody else), and she was a super nice person. But she was a loyal Cerberus officer. This is a BioWare thing so we get the benefit of "Shades of Grey"(not 50 though) and instead of Black & White absolutes.

Background:  Suzie's childhood is a mystery that she prefers not to have answered; a trail of bodies and destroyed databases has ensured no one ever will. According to the scant remaining records she was a model suburbanite whose parents died tragically.  Left with a fortune, she vanished for two years and suddenly reappeared with a vendetta that captured the galaxy's imagination.

In reality, she was indeed born to an affluent family in Vancouver, the tech-savant daughter of a powerful and unscrupulous lawyer and a wealthy heiress.  However, it was hardly idyllic; during years of abuse Suzie hid away with her studies until her father's violence culminated in her mother's suicide.  Legal recourses proved fruitless, and in the end Suzie solved the problem with her father's own pistol at the age of 14.

She grabbed some funds and escaped off-world to avoid capture by police.  After a difficult start she fell in with a pirate vessel, where she learned to fight and put her education and aptitude with tech to malicious - and surprisingly fun - use.  Suzie learned to delight in chaos, pushing back against the oppressive legal hierarchy that had destroyed her mother and her childhood.  A series of short, amateur videos showing raids on everything from slavers to bankers, with suitably witty commentary, quickly went viral.

An arrest on the Presidium for minor vandalism changed her life.  Fearing murder charges for her father, she was surprised to learn that his death had been reported accidental: a move by his firm to avoid scandal.  She was being hunted by the government as a missing person with a large inheritance, not a felon.

She quickly set that to rights.  Half the fortune was sunk into a small ship with a stealth system and massive communications suite - the Underground itself - as well as top of the line weapons and armor.  Shedding the anonymity of her first videos she blossomed as a cult hero, pirate captain, and information broker.

Her exploits should, by all rights, make her a wanted terrorist.  She delights in sabotage, burglary, and bombings.  She gives repeated injunctions to overthrow the government, attack police, and defy the law.  However, her actions have been aimed almost exclusively at the rotten core of the galaxy's corporations and governments: corrupt officials, rapists, slavers, the immoral rich who meet with little public pity.  The only serious attempt to prosecute her resulted in an outrage against the defense of her targets and doomed a judge and several politicians to disgraceful early retirement. She's now a gadfly that prosecution would turn into a martyr. 

With a charisma that sways billions and a daredevil attitude, Suzie is plunging headlong into a self destructive spiral.  She's willing to try most anything for an extra edge, from illegal gene hacking to prototype implants.  Her personal habits are a combination of manic attempts at perfection and unbridled hedonism. 

Ons:  Anything short of snuff, and honestly she'd probably even do that in the right setting. 
Offs:  Submission/humiliation.  Note that while the character is open to any gender and I don't mind some role playing, anything with a non-female will be glossed over in a line or two. 

Skills & Abilities: Suzie is, at the very least, among the best hackers in the galaxy, fearless and laden with charisma.  She's intelligent, athletic and a capable pilot and driver.  A confirmed urbanite, the wilderness is something to be suffered bravely - preferably with a guide.  Although certainly capable with small arms and explosives, Suzie knows her limitations and succeeds by sideways thinking, tactics, and trusting others to do the heavy lifting in a firefight. 

   

Vehicles: The Underground is a mid-range ship, originally designed as a swift yacht.  It has a small cargo hold and small but comfortable living quarters.  Most of the hold is now converted into a massive communications array, while a stealth suite has also been added to foil electronic detection.  Armament is minimal, intended for superiority against a lightly armed merchant, errant patrol fighter, or to cover a swift retreat.  ANA, the resident VI, was programmed by Suzie herself. 

   

For occasions when public transit and foot speed aren't suitable, Suzie usually employs her bike; little more than an anti grav field and a massive engine with enough room for some controls and a fusion battery to power it, the vehicle is fast, stealthy and potentially suicidal, much like Suzie herself.

The Underground: The real Underground is a network of like-minded and loyal activists, a shadow organization that supports Suzie with intelligence, financing, and muscle.  Suzie's public role casts a long enough shadow that even most of the best-informed aren't sure she isn't acting alone.

It's already been sent off for approval by the GMs (not least of all for the sneaky inclusion of a third gun), so I'm only posting this here for completion's sake. That said, opinions are always welcome  ;)

Appearance: Standing at 82kg and 186cm (181 lbs / 6’1"), Thaddeus certainly isn’t weak, but it’s his speed and intellect that make him dangerous. His auburn hair, pale complexion, and easy confidence lend him a refined charm, which helps counteract the effects of his calloused hands and wolfish smile when he introduces himself. Thaddeus’s blue eyes gleam with cleverness and cruelty in equal measure: a gaze which commands nervousness from shopkeepers and curiosity from fools. 

Beneath his high-end equipment and immaculate clothes, Thaddeus bears a half-dozen scars across his body. Most of the blemishes are little more than faded slashes on his skin, but their origin remains a touchy subject.

Affiliation: Independent, private clients.

Weapons:
-M-77 Paladin (Heavy Pistol): Exceptionally accurate and with immense stopping power, these lightweight pistols have the added benefit of being easily concealable. Designed to be used by undercover agents, they are a poor choice for more hectic firefights, being severely limited by a slow fire rate and tiny 3-shot clip. This pistol’s original owner would turn in his shallow grave if he knew Thaddeus was now using his gun.
-M-76 Revenant (Assault Rifle): Despite being heavy, inaccurate, and difficult to maintain, these custom-made machine guns are the ultimate status symbol for ambitious mercenaries. With a mammoth clip capacity and blistering rate of fire, the Revenant excels at laying down suppressive fire, its sheer destructive force often enough to disintegrate cover and scatter enemies. This masterwork item was gifted to Thaddeus by a grateful client.
-M-4 Shuriken: This machine pistol’s greatest asset is its price tag: a paltry 50 credits, second hand. Cheap, easy to use, and exceptionally lightweight, the Shuriken is popular with rookies and cash-strapped amateurs, but it’s snubbed by serious professionals. Thaddeus mainly keeps it for sentimental value, and as something he can lend out to others in a pinch.

Powers:
-Chemical Rounds: Popular with pirates, criminals, and mercenaries, these rounds are coated with highly toxic (and often radioactive) compounds that are designed to poison their target and inhibit the effects of first aid, such as medi-gel. The effects are extremely variable, but fever and myasthenia (muscle weakness) usually take hold within minutes. ((N/B: In the event of PvP, the target can decide how (in)effective the toxins are.))
-Proximity Mines: In addition to the usual timed or remote detonation, these vicious explosives can be set to explode when intruders come within range. Equipped with optical camouflage and emission dampening, they’re notoriously hard to spot in the heat of combat.
-Fortification: A mechanism that temporarily reinforces combat armour with non-Newtonian fluids and protective Foucault currents. Though intended as a defensive measure, the current can be ‘purged’ through the gauntlets to deliver a powerful one-off melee attack.


Background/Personality:
“Too thuggish for engineering corps, too insidious for marines” – so reads an early annotation on Thaddeus’s military records. However unkind the words might’ve been, the author did hit upon a certain truth.

Right from the onset, Thaddeus’s time in the Alliance military was chequered to say the least. He struggled in a number of core subjects, though he graduated from the academy due to his excellent marks in firearm proficiencies, field modification, and displacement tactics. Notwithstanding a number of earlier concerns about his performance, his superiors decided to take a gamble and allowed Thaddeus to join the Alliance as a garrison officer. The decision was not without merit: after all, Thaddeus excelled in certain aspects of his work, and his more malignant shortcomings were yet to manifest.

Charged with maintaining the security of an Alliance radar outpost, Thaddeus served the Alliance for three years, all the while using the relative isolation to procure a few black-market acquisitions or indulge his growing obsession for weapon modification. In his defence, Thaddeus was always careful to cover his tracks, and his unlawful activities would have remained undetected were it not for a Batarian raid on the outpost. He survived the raid, of course, but his career didn’t survive the ensuing Alliance investigation.

When they reviewed footage of the attack, Alliance officials discovered that Thaddeus had deliberately sacrificed a number of his peers during the defence of the outpost. At its least culpable, this comprised of sealing the permitter too early, leaving stragglers to die; at its worst, Thaddeus intentionally fired explosives into a group of friendlies in order to eliminate hostiles who’d closed to melee range. Placed under the microscope of the Alliance disciplinary board, Thaddeus’s other secrets – black market weapons, illegally modified equipment, and so forth – soon came to light. A dishonourable discharge was a forgone conclusion. Thaddeus escaped incarceration by fleeing to the Terminus system, but his reputation was forever marred.

Like many newcomers to Omega, Thaddeus’s desperation soon caused him to fall in with the ‘wrong’ crowd. He spent a few rough years flitting between criminal gangs, constantly trying to stay afloat in the tumultuous and, above all, violent politics of Omega station. After a nightmarishly hard start, his lucky break finally came when he was offered a position in Blackwatch, one of the sector’s many security firms. Almost immediately, Thaddeus’s fortunes started to improve for the first time in years. With access to proper equipment (and hideously illegal weapons) it wasn’t long before the former Alliance officer put his skills to sinister new uses, with spectacular results. Within a week, Blackwatch was reinforcing client compounds with proximity mines – wicked devices that had the added benefit of torching incriminating evidence. Within a month, Blackwatch guards were armed with a deadly new strain of toxic ammunition. Ultimately, Blackwatch rose too far, too fast, and incurred the attention of Omega’s stronger factions. It mattered little to Thaddeus. A survivor and consummate pragmatist, he abandoned his saviours with the same ease that one might leave a sinking ship, pausing only take the client list and, of course, burn any links back to him.

The lesson learned, Thaddeus is now starting over once more, albeit with a significant pool of assets and a list of potential customers. Amid the chatter and hollow promises of the Terminus system extranet, one more listing is adding its voice to the clamour. Argos Security is the latest in a long line of boutique security firms, but it’s already receiving referrals from some of the sector’s most iniquitous criminals. They say that Argos Security delivers on the promises it makes to clients: their safety is enforced through a strong offence, their liberty measured in dead Council investigators, and their privacy reflected in burning ruins where incriminating evidence existed just moments before.

Goal: Independence, revenge.

Thaddeus has enjoyed relative prosperity over the last couple of years, but his hellish start in Omega has left its mark. Beneath his calm smile and measured exterior, there lies a twisted, smouldering hatred that’s every bit as raw and painful as the day he was forced to flee. Thaddeus still blames the Alliance military for forcing him into exile, and in his mind, it was their lofty judgement that caused his suffering in the slums of Omega. 
He now finds himself torn between wanting to move on and start a new life, and a deep yearning for revenge – to hurt the Alliance the same way they hurt him.

The Corvus is strikingly ugly even by the standards of freighters, but the atypical design is endearing in its own strange way. Built from the gutted hull of an exploration vessel, the Corvus boasts powerful engines, exemplary sensor systems, and even a modest machine shop for fabricating equipment. The rigors of operating in lawless space necessitate that the Corvus carries some armament, but it’s mainly there for deterrent value; much like its namesake, the Corvus relies on cunning and agility rather than brute strength, picking its fights very selectively. It can house twenty crewmen in relative comfort, but in recent times the only occupants are a few service droids and Thaddeus himself, who spends much of his time in the on-board machine shop.

Description: Pelera stands six feet tall, with a gymnast's build, lined by lean muscle in her arms and legs. Her scales are dark green, the same color as her eyes. While both on the job and off, she is noted for wearing a C-Sec uniform or civilian clothes that are tight enough to showcase her slightly above-average sized breasts, and tight rear. In her mind, she knows she has a good figure, and sees no reason to hide it. She wears the standard boots on duty, but prefers being barefoot off duty, finding it relaxing. When working with her sniper rifle, she has what looks like an advanced pair of glasses to assist with her aim. Finally, while few see it outside of the bedroom, she has a scar on her stomach, a souvenir from her past that she refuses to discuss with anyone.

Personality: Pel is generally friendly towards those she likes. It's quite easy to tell if she likes you, or if she's just met you, as she tends to be quick to smile. She's generally not that hard for those she likes to convince her to "spend the night" with them, as she does enjoy the activities that come with doing so. However, she doesn't generally form long-term relationships. One-night stands are about as far as she goes.

Of course, that's mostly off the job, or when relaxing. On duty, she almost changes personalities. She has problems with partners willing to work with her, as several have noted that while her professional output is to be admired, she is quick to anger, often lashing out at suspects. She strongly dislikes people violating the liberties of others, and is rumored to play loose with the letter of the law when dealing with suspects who have done so.

Background: Pelera, or Pel, was born and raised on the Citadel. She had a mostly standard upbringing, by Wards standards. Living on the rough side of the tracks was not something that made for an easy life, of course. Still, she managed to avoid any real trouble, at least for the first 18 years of her life.

At that time, she ended up in a relationship with a C-Sec cop named Terin. A drell like herself, Pelera felt they had enough in common to seriously consider a permanent relationship. She soon found out, however, that Terin had a bad temper. She decided that it was not worth the risk, and broke it off with him. That decision proved fatal for him, and nearly so for her. While reports are confused to what happened, he took a multiple story fall to his death, and she was found beaten to unconsciousness.

After her recovery, she applied to C-Sec, planning to replace Terin, or at least fill in the gap left when someone was moved to cover his position.  As a C-Sec agent, she's spent the last 8 years on the job, making sure what happened to her doesn't happen to anyone else. As more than one suspect has discovered, however, she doesn't limit her efforts to her work in C-Sec.

More than one suspect in a domestic abuse case has been found beaten, and several domestic killers acquitted were found killed themselves. No one knows who is responsible for this. Well, one person knows. But Pel isn't about to blow the whistle on herself. Not while there are others to bring to some kind of justice.

Yes, the Class system is fully in play and you can be most any class from any of the 3 games, including some crew classes like Master Thief(Kasumi Goto) or Arms Master(James Vega)

That's another reason Mass Effect fields are so important. They dampen the recoil a good deal so you get 100% output vs 50% recoil for example. Not perfect but it's a lot better than tearing your ship or gun apart every time you press the big red button, lol.

I guess I'm not sure how a villian Bounty Hunter or Commando would fit into the story.  I was thinking something along the line of Aria T'lok and Archangel.  But not knowing a lot how the game plot is running it's hard to figure out how that would fit in anywhere.  Thoughts??

I know that we have at least two people loosely basing their characters off of both of them. But its up to you. Your character can work with the Thorian or alongside other Villains and cause chaos on top of having to deal with the Thorian. Kind of like Cerberus & Reapers.

This is sandbox, so if you have an idea that would add a twist to the plot that you want to see your character involved in, I highly encourage it.

Asari bounty hunter or commando.....better served as a villian or a hero?  Bhahahahahahaha

It's 100% a matter of personal opinion, so don't take any of this seriously.

Villainous bounty hunters can be tricky in terms of story, as the very nature of their job involves executing justice and preserving law. It's certainly doable, but evil bounty hunters generally require (a) an outlawed protagonist to hunt and (b) a powerful tyrant to hire them. It worked in Serenity and Star Wars, where there was a small band of fugitive heroes struggling against authoritarian overlords, but it's the opposite in the Mass Effect universe: the established powers are the good guys (Alliance, Council, etc.), whereas the rogue factions are heavily inclined towards evil (Cerberus, Batarians, etc.).

Of course, this issue is very specific to bounty hunters, not guns-for-hire in general. Also, as La Dame quite rightly points out, an Asari commando could easily go either way as their morality is entirely dependant on who they're working for. I just happen to think "Asari Commando" sounds heroic, hehe.

Again, no right or wrong answer, as this issue is easily overcome. I think the only rule is to make a character you'll enjoy  ;)

Corsairs were flagless Alliance privateers that operated in the Terminus system. Per the wiki:

Corsairs were Alliance Marines serving under an independent starship captain to conduct autonomous missions outside of Alliance jurisdiction, giving the Alliance the ability to disavow any knowledge of them. Such operatives were often granted considerable liberty and autonomy in order to facilitate efficient operation, though it was noted that even they were subjected to bureaucracy that impeded them.

Despite being a completely awesome concept, they only receive a fleeting mention from Jacob.

Well the great thing about Mass Effect is that "good" and "bad" are for the most part relative terms. She could be a good person who does bad things, or a bad person who does good things, etc... It's really all up to you. Hell you could make her a Spectre if you want. We've still got some open Spectre slots.

I guess I already kinda assumed that we'd have to come together into some sort of a group in order to follow the main mission plot line.  Shirala usually works alone, but tends to hire on support when she's going into big jobs.  This might be one of those big jobs where she'd pull together a few crew to help her out and augment her abilities.  She is a commando, she's used to working in small teams anyhow.

Not much, but Illusive Man is pretty progressive. He's definitely humanity first, but will bite the proverbial bullet if an alien is worth his time or the need is great enough. After all he pointed Shepard towards Thane, Tali, Samara, Mordin, Garrus, and Warlord Okeer for the suicide mission.

For simplicity’s sake, anyone with Tactical Cloak is listed as an infiltrator – I know it’s a bit of a misnomer for some characters, so apologies for that; it’s only that the list is intended to be accessible rather than detailed.

Also, the line between ‘goodly’ freelance and outright antagonist can get a little blurred, and I’m guessing most of them can be contracted by one side or the other, but as a general rule of thumb I’m making the bold moral assertion that anyone who murders strangers for money is probably evil. That said, if you feel your character has been misclassified, just shoot me (or the GMs) a message!

Yeah, there are quite a few of them… but that shouldn’t put people off if they want to make more.

In all honesty, I can see why they're the popular choice. As a medium-armour hybrid class, they’re hugely versatile in their own right, and a few extremely potent utility skills (cloak, hacking) open up all sorts of possibilities for both narrative and combat. Coupled with the fact that secret agents are naturally sexy, they're well suited to open ended sandbox games.

Alliance might be interesting but it is much more regulated and red taped and independent sounds cool at first because of the exposure he would get but it wouldn't take long before he had to pick a side to make any progress due to funding.

Aren't humans looked down by and considered to rash by many of the other races? That would leave them open to more scrutiny then others.

Unfortunately, scientist rarely make good representatives of a military.

/wave So I'd been generally eyeballing this thread for a bit now, but had been hitting a bit of a writer's block with coming up with a character.

I'm still not clear on some of the fine points or motivations, but I'm kind of narrowing in on creating a human male Infiltrator. I'm thinking an independent thief/mercenary-type character. Although I'm a bit worried that the more I think about it he just sounds like a reskin of Kasumi's skillset. But then again I doubt she's the only mercenary thief in the universe and I think variation can come about from actual RP. Would that be a character you already have a glut of, though?

I know you said this is a slight AU of the Mass Effect 'verse in that there is no Shepard/Reaper situation. Does this mean that the Reapers simply haven't actively started their latest destruction cycle at the point the game takes place and that it's not expected to be part of an RP as they're floating out in deep space? Or that they've never existed?

If the Reapers never existed, would you say that something else has happened to wipe out the civilizations that preceded the current galactic society (Protheans, Leviathans, etc.)? While also blocking the spread of artificial life (the main argument the Reapers make for why they exist)?


And just out of curiosity, why no Genophage? It always seemed like such a fascinating point of galactic politics to erase from the timeline, along with all of its impact on Krogan nihilism.

/wave So I'd been generally eyeballing this thread for a bit now, but had been hitting a bit of a writer's block with coming up with a character.

I'm still not clear on some of the fine points or motivations, but I'm kind of narrowing in on creating a human male Infiltrator. I'm thinking an independent thief/mercenary-type character. Although I'm a bit worried that the more I think about it he just sounds like a reskin of Kasumi's skillset. But then again I doubt she's the only mercenary thief in the universe and I think variation can come about from actual RP. Would that be a character you already have a glut of, though?

We don't have a pure thief yet no, so that could work pretty well if you were so inclined.

In this game, the Reapers never existed. As the Protheans were a war-like and conquering people, they simply reached their peak and died out. Could be from in-fighting, could be that nature just took it's course, etc... The Leviathans are still around, but in this instance they never created the Reapers.

As for the Genophage, the reason it's not a thing is to make the story a bit more accessible. And to give the Krogan a chance. Before the Rebellions started, Shiagur sat down with the Citadel and explained things. How aggressive Krogan were, how hard it was to stop expansion due to their near infinite numbers, how even a Warlord as powerful as her could only do so much, etc...

In this setting more level heads prevailed and after talks with all the most powerful warlords, they set up a monitoring program that allowed only a certain number of births to happen per year so they didn't boom out like they had been doing. In return for following the program set up and being useful members in galactic society, they got to keep all the Rachni worlds, and a few more unclaimed ones. So in exchange for simply not overpopulating and being assholes, the Krogan not only got galaxy wide recognition(which is a lot sweeter than resentment, and of course helped to make them better as a race), but they got over a dozen planets to colonize and call their own.

Hey. So, when I first mentioned I wanted to join, I was dealing with some major Muse issues, but those seemed to have cleared up, so I finally present my eccentric application. Sorry for the wait. Lemme know if you guys want me to change anything. And yes, I realize how silly Rej is.  XD

Name: Rej'Janafi Nar Terevi
Nickname: Rej, "Stowaway", "Wannabe Hero", and he has been called "Pyjak" by at least one person of every race, even hanars.
Age: 26, but the erratic nature of time in deep space and a bunch of wild nights on Omega have made it hard for him to recall this number.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Race: Quarian
Homeworld: The Migrant Fleet, so technically also Rannoch. Kinda.

Appearance: The picture there is what Rej looked like at the start of his Pilgrimage, before the nicks and cuts of his life style forced him to alter his attire. As all quarians, Rej stay's in his blue/black containment suit all the time, it's glass dome masking his face and features flawlessly. However, it doesn't hide the fact that he's five feet, nine inches tall, and looks to be of fit build by Quarian standards. As for the suit itself, it greatly resembles most other containment suits, but there are clear additions, a black scarf, a faded blue poncho, and an altered face plate being the most prominent changes. The poncho in particular is of note, the worn out blue rag hides much of Rej's more interesting modifications, bits and pieces of tech he's "salvaged" while employed as a merc, his favorite prize being some Propulsion Packs he'd found on a fallen turian ghost, allowing him to be a fair bit speedier than one would think. Another key distinction Rej's suit has is that the usual face plate has been replaced with two large, red, bug like eyes, a tribute to a series of human heroes the quarian has become obsessed with. He also has an actual Kamen Rider Decade belt smuggled in from earth.

Job Title/Occupation: "Professional Vagabond", Eclipse mercenary (Lieutenant ranking, specifically Ashri's personal goon)
Class Specialization: Infiltrator, with a bit of engineer goodness.
Affiliation: Eclipse, but his loyalty lies elsewhere.

Weapons: A modified M-12 locust, and an Omni-blade with altering elemental properties (Incendiary, electric, "Batarian", or normal settings).
Powers: Tactical Cloak, Tactical Scan, Sabotage (He's pretty good at hacking in general), Arc grenades, propulsion packs.
Personality: There is no end to the rumors around the galaxy about the quarian menace, how members of this homeless race would steal every credit you had should you take your eyes off them, or how they're all liars and frauds that are so desperate for something they'd go through your trash without hesitation. It should be noted that for the most part these rumors are false, or at the very least offensive exaggerations, but it should also be noted that Rej is one of those quarians that fit the bill of an opportunistic dumpster diver perfectly. Shameless but driven, it'd be easy to see that the raggedy quarian has big dreams of being a high roller in the criminal underworld, but how far can he go with an empire made from thrown away junk?  Luckily, that's where the terms "Borrow" and "Eclipse's stuff" meet in his grand schemes. Hopefully Rej covers his tracks well enough to not earn the ire of his bosses.
     Aside from all the salvaging nonsense, Mr. Janafi is fairly up beat, always making wise ass remarks and shrugging off threats, unless of course those threats are from a krogan, because then those aren't threats anymore, they're promises. In conflict, Rej has a tendency to rely on his words, often babbling with a silver tongue to weasel a way out of getting his head blown off, and though this trick has worked on many occasions, it's not infallible. Come to think of it, he applies his gift of gab in many situations, business deals, asking for directions, ordering food, yakking with some guy on the elevator about the weather, he tries to butter up whomever he's talking to it seems. For such an active guy with so much going on around him, Rej has the bearing of a slacker, laid back and carefree, but more than happy to go on a rant in a moments notice. He'll usually be spending his time watching movies he finds, and for some reason he really likes tokusatsu shows, specifically Kamen Rider. He has become infatuated with the long running human series, and will often display heroic qualities because of it's influence.

Background: The life of a young quarian seldom differs from one to the next, living in cramped quarters with a dozen other people with only the bare essentials rationed out leaves little room for personal ventures aboard the Migrant fleet. Rej's life was no different, but his parents were strict and demanding, always making sure he was working on something, or studying something else, grooming him into a fantastic mechanic for the good of the fleet. One day, while working on a busted communicator, Rej picked up an old earth broadcast of Kamen Rider Black. The video feed was scratchy at best and the audio cut in and out, making the show look to be some kind of war torn news reel chronicling the exploits of the masked man defending humanity from the forces of evil. To a young quarian that knew more about wrenches than anything else, these broadcasts were akin to hearing the Myths of old for the first time, and at such an impressionable age, young Rej thought that they were all true. By the time Rej was to set out on his Pilgrimage, he had matured enough to realize the true nature of the stories he'd found, but was still inspired by them. With a farewell from his mother and father, Rej set out, promising to bring back a prize so grand, it'd change the face of the fleet forever.
        Hopping from freighter to freighter, Rej managed to cross the galaxy as a stowaway, fighting off vorcha in the shadowy bowels of larger ships while dodging inspection crews and security personnel became the norm for him. And he loved it. It made him feel like one of the heroes he had been watching, a lone wolf constantly fighting for the betterment of his people. He began salvaging around this time, pawning off whatever he didn't keep for himself as he rummaged around in the dark forgotten nooks and crannies of various ports. It was amazing what he'd find, an omni-blade here, a perfectly good gun there, the frivolous waste that these other races showed was as insulting as it was profitable, so the quarian continued on, driven by both a need for credits and simple spite for the nonchalant opulence he saw all around. Eventually, he set foot on a barge owned by The Eclipse mercenaries. It was a gold mine, weapons and tech in more crates than Rej could count, smuggled goods galore! There was no way he could take even a fraction of this with him, so the "Pyjak" went about, looking for what he could plunder that would be most valuable. Alas, he got careless in his greed, and was soon discovered by an asari guard, who detained him quickly, keeping him alive for questioning. And then the Blue Suns attacked, blowing a hole in the side of the ship to enter. Just like in the movies!
      The raid was precise and coordinated, the Blue suns easily routing the handful of Eclipse mercs present with a YMIR mech and simple surprise tactics. With two of her comrades already dead, the Asari, who had introduced herself as Ashri T'Vel, released Rej from his bindings, though she never gave reason for why she did so. With stealth tech and experience in dodging people, Rej could of easily escaped, but he knew in his gut that fate was showing him his path. His Kamen Rider inspired path of vigilante justice. He hijacked the YMIR suit, turning it against it's owners, and while they focused on the mad machine he stealthed behind each and every one of them, plunging a burning Omni-Blade into their spines. There was only one Blue Sun left, a Turian with tech armor that made short work of the rampaging robot when he entered the fray. The turian and quarian fought with omni-blades, both having hacked the other's gun to explode upon meeting, and a vicious melee ensued, the Blue Sun's strength and skill being matched by Rej's stealth and agility. It seemed a stale mate, the two countering each other flawlessly until a cloud of smoke gave our hero away, allowing the turian to score a near fatal hit, shattering Rej's face plate. Staggering from the blow, and his health quickly failing from foreign bacteria, all seemed hopeless for Rej until Ashri made her presence known, blowing the turian's head clean off with a sniper shot. The asari quickly got the pyjak's helmet sealed, asking the battered hero if he was looking for work while she did so, clearly impressed by how how he had turned the tide of battle single handedly. After a quick stay at a med bay to clear up some infections, Rej joined the Elcipse mercenaries, planning to become a quarian hero masked as a villain.

Ons/Offs: Open to pretty much anything except the for usual no-no's. (Scat, vore, other sick junk,) But he's still a quarian, so make of that what you will.

Connections: Being an employee of the Eclipse mercs can lead to a great deal of underworld connections, especially when one is skimming a little for himself. Most are nameless black merchants, Eclipse grunts, shady informants, and a hand full of pawn shop owners, but there are a few people of interest.
     -Ashri T'vel: Direct superior, acts more like a big sister than a commander though.
     -Pudrel: An Elcor that keeps track of inventory for Rej's faction of the Eclipse, stern but isn't above some good old fashioned bribery.
     -Others to come . . . ?
Notes: When no one's around, he'll look in a mirror, strike a psoe and yell "Henshin!". Also, his belt is an actual import from Earth that he accidentally intercepted. It's real owner is Krogan, and likely pissed at it's disappearance.

Hey, I'm working on a Human Male Adept. I'm hammering out his personality and background right now, and I'm stuck between making him former alliance and a bounty hunter/working for a merc crew or just having him be apart of the military still.

If he was still in the military, how would that play out IC, for example, would he be stationed somewhere or on a special mission? On leave? etc..? I'm curious and would like to know what I'm getting into before I commit to one or the other  :-)

If he was still in the Alliance, the easiest thing to do to give him freedom to move around would be to make him an N7 agent. They're basically spec ops for the Alliance, so an N7 soldier would get a lot of freedom to go about the universe as needed.
