So awhile ago on here (a long while ago) I ran a Hogwarts free for here, and apparently there has been some interest in ressurecting the idea. So I am posting this to see the level of interest before I formally ask for ressurection or restart the game entirely :)

Good call Wolfy.  I tend to play Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff (though I hate the name) for that reason.

You can always read through the previous posts from 5 years ago *snicker* We did non canon characters, even had a Goblet of Fire tournament. We followed the books fairly closely as of the finish I (as Albus) had not died. So we did bypass Canon some. I would have to reread to see who we had, but it was a lot of fun. I was doing a house cup (and would continue to.) As far as plot goes we can pick up where we are right now in "The epilogue." The time after Harry left Hogwarts but before he became an adult, leaves us a very open playing field with what is going on and what darkness may still befoul the steps of Hogwarts.

Now I am considering just starting a new replacement game, to leave the one that exsists in the archives. But the rules would stay the same as would the character sheet and so on. i would aim for a balanced game set after Harry Potter has left Hogwarts, the only Canon characters would be staff.

Given that you seem to enjoy hosting contests (which sounds awesome) and this is a freeform game, do you have some form of moderation?

Also, are the normal ages in effect, meaning we all need to be upperclassmen to be "site legal?"

Well it appears we will be relaunching soon then :) Yes characters have to be 6th to 7th year to fufill site rules I think to manage that more formally, we did 7th year only. The game was always a free form, with light moderation, occassional plot points dropped in, we decided against any actual classes as that was boring after a day, (who wants to roleplay actually taking a class. lol) So most of the story happened outside the class rooms, in Hogsmeade, or amongst the grounds. some basic Canon rules are in place (like no boys in the girls dorms and vice versa.) , no magic outside the classroom (unless supervised) and yes I know that rule will be broken a lot. :) I will have a new game up and linked for you guys likely by Tuesday, I need tow ork on some plot ideas to at least give you all a story to freeform about.

No guarantees this is exactly what he will want, but the other two Harry Potter games where he was a Gm and Mod this is about what he had.  So at least it'll give you a good starting off point before he puts in the exact set of information he'll want.

Usually Faculty was allowed, which if it is, I have a Magical Items and Devices teacher ready to return.  Wizard shop class.

Nuh-uh, I already got some awesome ideas for Slytherin. I'm not gonna take a chance on being labeled a Hufflepuff. Those dudes creep me the frack out.

The hat was only used on the first years, we'll all be 6th years up so should be well sorted at that point but I do understand what you mean. There could end up being an influx of Slytherin and Gryffindor characters leaving Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff pretty much empty.

Perhaps a quota to start off with. Depending on how many members are interested and how many characters are allowed per member.
Maybe a start off point of 6 members per house - there are of course the npc students that get used to fill the place lol
If say Gryffindor has it's 6 member quota then a note can be posted stating that no more Gryffindors are being taken until other house quotas are filled or anyone else applying for that house will have to be notified that he or she must choose another house affiliation.
When all house quotas are filled, a new quota can then be opened.

It's just an idea  ;)

There's not really anything to know Hayes :-) You play a freeform game the same way you would a system game, just instead of using dice to determine the outcome of interactions/confrontations/etc you either use your own judgement, talk it out with whoever's playing the person on the other side of the situation or leave it to our esteemed GMs. I made up a list of all the characters and threads a few days ago, I might as well drop it in here. But Fiona might do with a house change, so I've flagged her thusly.  She was conceived as a Ravenclaw, being the Mad Science type, but she's flighty enough and friendly enough to shift.

Vidya would definitely welcome Fi to Hufflepuff with open arms, but the house imbalance hasn't really been an issue at all so I don't think you need to change her unless you really want too.

Approval usually only takes a couple days, but Kendra is dealing with some RL issues and is on a sort of semi-hiatus. Lancis hasn't mentioned any down time, as far as I know, but it looks like he hasn't been online since the 4th :(
