Overview
The premise of this GRP is simple; a group of adolescent individuals are selected from all across the globe to participate in a top-secret programme that attempts to tame and control what has come to be known as demonic entities. Regardless of whether your character concedes to being drafted for the project or not, your character is taken to a small isolated island to participate in a project that professes to be for the good of mankind. While you’ll be given ample opportunities to socialize with other humans and monsters, the project will also require your character; along with others to complete a series of task to ensure you’re the right person for the job.

Background Scenario
Mankind was once fanatically fervent in its worship of supernatural deities; admiring their power, and revering their unquestionable wisdom. At times mankind would suffer the wrath of these powerful entities, while other times they would rejoice as they reaped the benefits of the blessing bestowed upon them. Some of these deities were actively ambitious; empowering their soldiers with bravery and might, while others celebrated the tranquil harmony of peace. There were of course others who sought the destruction of mankind, pillaging and sowing the seeds of discord where ever possible. But such times have long since faded from the memory of mankind, replaced with an age of luxury and convenience, fuelled by their unfaltering lust for technological advancement.

Through relentless conditioning of themselves and their young through countless generations, mankind eventually became physically blind towards the paranormal. They became dismissively ignorant towards the unexplainable, supplementing reality with their inconsistent sciences and convenient reasoning’s. The supernatural entities were collectively labelled as demons; fictional caricatures that had no worth or meaning in the modern world. Regardless of whether mankind perceived them or not though, demons continued to exist alongside humanity. Unknown to mankind, demons are responsible for a broad range of accidents, tragedy’s and catastrophic occurrences; their destructive mischief ranging from the hiding of car keys, right up to humanitarian conflicts and destructive natural phenomena. There were blessings and miraculous feats too of course, but such interventions became sparse over time, with more and more demons becoming disenchanted with humanity, ultimately reclusively  withdrawing themselves to an everlasting slumber.

With the overwhelming majority of mankind succumbing to blissful ignorance, it was ironically the spiritual mediums who continued to note their existence. Taking the form of priests, shamans, monks amongst other practices. Countless generations of spiritual mediums continued to vanquish and repel demons interference in human societies, but these individuals too were cast out as a minority. Forced to adopt ceremonial roles in order to maintain the legitimacy of their profession. Demons and spiritual mediums alike were on the brink of being forgotten… but that all changed when an ideologically bizarre government and a group of renowned scientists from all across the globe intervened. Seeking to renew the connection between mankind and demonkind for their own personal objectives.

The Setup

Welcome to Tenma Island!

Tenma Island is a recently constructed Artificial Island which is strictly monitored by the relevant authorities. The island’s population is roughly 600 people; most of which are government workers, and their respective family members. Despite it’s relatively young age, the Island is covered in luscious forestry with an exotic mixture of wildlife from all over the world. While the Pristine rivers, and beautiful beaches are sure to be the envy of any sightseer, you’ve been invited to the island for something notably more serious haven’t you?

Over the course of a year, you will be required to attend Tenma Academy daily, where you will not encounter, but be required to tame the shady parasitic entities that linger and fester on the fringes of human society. Yes, the Academy is aware of your gift, and we have come to the conclusion that your talent is vitally important for the betterment of mankind. Further instructions will be delivered to you upon your arrival at the Academy.

We look forward to working with you

Demons & Shiki

The term ‘Demon’ has been broadly applied to a diverse range of supernatural creatures that have existed alongside humanity since the dawn of mankind. Incorporating everything from angelic divinities, shadowy fiends, destructive brutes, to animistic aberrations scattered across the world. The overwhelming majority of them are hostile and aggressive, or at the very least hold some form of resentment towards mankind for their contemptuous actions of the past.

The term Shiki specifically refers to a group of demonic entities who have willingly or unwillingly offered their services to the Tenma-Project. Like their demonic counterparts they have strong reservations toward humanity and their authenticity, however have agreed to cooperate in exchange for certain benefits. Shiki are unique from demons in the sense that they are able to conceal and reveal themselves to the average human at their own discretion.

    The Spiritualist

The Spiritualist is a human character whose ancestry can be traced back to a spiritual medium of significant power. Although most Spiritualists are average people with little to no training in the spiritual arts, their inherent aptitude and alignment with their historical ancestors allows them to control the ebb and flow of the Bloom Ring.

While most of mankind have oppressed their senses through countless centuries of internal conditioning. Spiritualist are individuals who have successfully managed to unlock their senses and acquire the ability to perceive Shiki. While a significant majority of Spiritualist obtain their perceptive abilities sometime during their infancy, others have been known to attain sight through a near death experience; believed to have been instigated by a demonic entity.
Bloom Ring

Conceived by the ingenuous Alfred Bloom; the Bloom Ring is a highly sophisticated device that has successfully managed to fuse the innovative technology of today, with the brilliance mysticism of civilizations long past. Although the device is referred to as a ring, the device can easily be adapted to become a piercing, necklace, brooch, etc. The Bloom collar can be distinguished by a crystal clear jewel, surrounded by five petal-like capsules empowered with magical energy.

The Bloom Ring’s primary function is to act as conductor; harnessing ‘Prana energy’ from the Earth’s ley-lines, and redirecting from the Spiritualist to their bonded Shiki. When a Shiki is conceived, they traditionally are only gifted with one supernatural ability which they retain throughout the entirety of their life. In addition to their individual contracts with the Tenma-Project though, Shiki have the additional incentive of expanding and enhancing their power through the spiritual connection they develop with their spiritualist. While the benefits incurred will vary from partnership to partnership, the progression always manifests in the form of Shiki obtaining new or enhanced powers.

In addition to its role as an energy conductor, the Bloom Ring’s petals are vitally important to a Spiritualist as it serves as the sole protection they have against their own Shiki. Each petal is empowered with highly potent Prana energy, which bestows the wearer with the ability to force relevant Shiki into complying with their commands. Although there are five crystal capsules, only one petal will recharge each day, and the energy itself is only able to affect a Shiki for a day at most.

Ayame is present! Can't wait to see what pops up for this game :3 Hope to see some awesome characters!

Name: Ayame Fujiwara
Age: 18
Height: 5'1'' (155 cm)
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Type: Human/Spiritualist
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Martial Pacifist

HUMAN
Q. How long has your character been able to see Demons? If since Birth give details on any hereditary links, if caused by a near death experience detail the experience.
Ayame was capable of seeing them from a young age; she was somewhere around five or six years old when she and her parents discovered she could see them. Her mother had also been capable from a young age, and her father had been capable closer to puberty.

Since the Fujiwara family was based around a Dojo, they had rules for who would be the Heir of the Dojo. The individual needed to not only Master the forms the family practiced, but also be capable of seeing the Demons that were around them. Ayame seeing them early secured her position as the Heir, since her older brother was in his late teens – by the time she saw them – and had yet to see them.

Q. What is the most significant/memorable demon that the character has encountered? What was their experience like?
Ayame’s more memorable demon that she has come across would likely have to be the Inari Kitsune she ran across while visiting Fushimi-Inari. She was walking down the red torii of the Shrine and saw the flash of writhing tails. Much too large to be something that was attached to a ‘fox’ – at least not any fox she had ever met. She saw the flash of a silk sleeve as well, and followed.

She was about sixteen at the time, and was quite curious to what sort of creature it was. Upon following it through a set of Torii she was lead off into the woods around the Torii. Eventually, she found herself in a clearing and the ‘man’ grinning at her from ear to ear. The Kitsune, later identified himself as ‘Hizashi’ and said that he was quite pleased she could see him – and that she had followed him. She gave him all of the honor and politeness she could, as her parents had taught her a healthy respect for the demonic entities from her home country.

They seemed to talk for hours, and it took her awhile to realize the fox was flirting with her – trying to seduce her. But when they finally got to the question of her age, he clicked his tongue and then wiggled a finger at her. He told her she needed to come back when she was ‘ripe’, whatever that meant. But the conversation left an impression on her.

Inari Kitsune are well known protectors, and she was unaware that part of the reason the fox had lead her from the trail was there was a small knot of Oni traveling through around that time. Since she was the only one that could see, and she was always taught most Youkai and Oni do not like to be seen, the fox had lead her away to keep her safe.

Q. What is the character’s opinion of Demon’s? What has led the character to this perception?
She treats all Demons with a sense of respect that is equal to how much they show her. But if they represent something from her home country, she almost instantly gives them the respect she feels they deserve. You get more with honey than you do with vinegar, so a healthy dose of respect is good for all parties.

Her parents helped her form these thoughts, and her interactions with demons brought this even further. Even in the instances with ‘dark’ Demons, she still had a healthy dose of respect. She didn’t try to control them, or go out of her way to gain their attention. She just lived her life.

Q. Who were the most significant people in the characters life prior to them being recruited for the Academy?
The most significant people in her life were her mother and father, who helped her learn how to identify and adjust her capabilities. Her older brother is a large part of her life, because he would go out of his way to make sure that she was left alone to her studies – except for when she needed to train. He believes she has a better future with the Dojo, and he actually has opened his own local bakery chain (to their Area) that he prefers to owning the family Dojo.

Other than that the most significant person in her life would have to be Yukiko, one of her childhood friends who started seeing demons in their final year of Middle School. Ayame worked hard to help her friend understand what she was experiencing, and helped her friend adjust as needed. They are best friends, and Ayame and Yukiko were often found together whenever not in school. But with Ayame leaving for the new chances in her future… She is going to miss her friend terribly.

Personality: Cheerful, Energetic and just a little bit Crazy

SHIKI
Q. What is your character’s opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion? What was your character promised in exchange for their cooperation in the Project?
Haru is fascinated with humans and human culture. His views on humans are colored by that fact. He mostly views them as beings that are fun to watch and pull pranks on for fun. His pranks aren’t always something that humans would consider harmless however but they usually aren’t done out of malicious intent and he doesn’t care all that much what humans think of those. Then again he doesn’t much care what anybody thinks if he’s having fun. The exact origin of his views on humans however come from the story of his family line’s creation and how their founder interacted with these humans.

Long ago Tamamo No Mae, the founder of the Mizukume line, came to the human world after sacrificing a majority of her power to do so and in the process creating the Mizukume line, named after her human childhood name. She was fascinated by humans and how they managed to carry on while smiling when they lived such fragile lives and wanted to see it for herself. She fell in love with a lord, was betrayed by lies then had her true form revealed before being hunted down and killed despite doing nothing but trying to help them prosper. Her story forever after was remembered as both a tale of caution and a reason for revenge for the generations that followed after. Haru took a different look at the story however. He wanted to know what she had seen, what had made her desire to go interact with the humans and just what it was that had convinced her to stop fighting towards the end.

His view on humans because of this is seen as unusual by those who know his family as typically they are far more spiteful when it comes to humans. His way of dealing with them was more even handed than the norm. While his fascination with them and his desires to observe, them were stranger still. He didn’t let that that bother him however and his fascination continued to grow until he decided to join the project after being promised the chance to learn the same things that Tamamo had learned although he has kept his exact lineage a secret. He didn’t want to risk being run out after all. It was kind of hard to blend in with humans when your progenitor is considered one of the three great monsters of Japan.

Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?
While Haru has not had any direct encounters with Spiritualists his family has and one of the human’s most prominent Spiritualist plays a large role in their founder’s story.  The famed Abe no Seimei was the one who revealed Tamamo’s true form as a demon and drove her out of the home she had made for herself. He accused her of being the cause of her lover’s growing illness and in the process started the chain of events that led to her death and betrayal. At the same time, however another spiritualist later helped to free her from torment after death. It’s left Haru with mixed feelings towards Spritiualist. He’s fascinated with humans and knows that they’re not all bad however after one forced the family’s founder from her home and got her killed it was difficult to be completely comfortable with or trust them completely. It also leaves him very wary of anything  that could be considered a betrayal,

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?
Haru spent just as much time observing humans and trying to figure them out as he did messing with them. He was always a bit easier on them than his sister was and he tends to take a karmic approach to people. One of his favorite things to do was to disguise himself as a human, sometimes a child or as a girl or anybody who was vulnerable and beg for help. Those who were kind to him or managed to entertain him often had their kindness repaid and those that treated him badly well usually suffered some kind of painful accident although generally lived. Those who attempted to actually harm him however would often die in their own accidents.

Additional family details
The Mizukume trace their lineage back to their original founder Tamamo No Mae  who created their line over a millennium ago when it was although she was supposed to have lived on a lot longer than that before the founding of their family line.  Anywhere between two and nine of them are born each generation with their founder’s powers split between them. Haru is a member of the newest generation and one of the rare born with only a single sibling. His abilities comprised of her lighter aspects Tamamo held during life while his sister was inhabited by her darker aspects that the founder possessed as the killing stone and one of the three great monsters.

Sylvana here ^^

Name: Sylvana
Age: 150
Height: 6'2" (188cm)
Hair Color: Cream
Eye Color: Yellow
Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Friendly to a Fault
Power: The ability to make plants flourish and grow in places they otherwise wouldn't be able to. Due to her young (for a shiki) age, it can often occur in small amounts on accident when she's particularly happy (which is frequent) causing flowers and small plants to blossom where she steps only to wither shortly after as there was no magic guided towards making them last.

SHIKI
Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?
Once when she was around 25 and out on her own for the first time. She had chosen to make her home in a dying little forest so she could bring it to life and build her home from the ground up. However, the place had been slated for destruction to make room for expansion of the nearby city. Seeing the sudden blossoming of the flora, and the return of wildlife in response, a curious spiritualist went and took a look to find Sylvana happily guiding things to grow and be strong. In response they promised to help keep her home safe, and instructed her on what to grow in order to attract an endangered species in the area. In the end the plan worked, and her forest was deemed a protected area thanks to the Boisduval's Blue butterflies her plants had attracted.

Q. What is your characters opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion?
Sylvana thinks that they all want to be her friend, even if they don't know it right away, and that as long as she's friendly she won't have any problems. The only thing to really influence this is that first spiritualist who saved her home, and the fact that she can't see a reason why they would fear or hate her. After all, she only grows nice plants and not the nasty ones like poison ivy or nettles. Sure some mushrooms find they're way in, but they help keep the balance. Not only that, but she's never hurt someone unfairly. The only time she's 'lashed out' is when people came in with guns (not that she knew that's what they were) and shot one of her animals that had taken up residence in her forest. They had been attacked with bramble bushes growing up rapidly from beneath their feet and swiftly chased out as a wave of them sprouted after them as they fled.

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?
Once a small child got lost in her forest, and even though it couldn't see her, she kept it safe and brought it food to eat, and grew a bed of soft moss and flowers for it to sleep on. It took a while for it to be found, but when it was the child was happy, healthy, and perfectly safe. The parents had thanked someone named God, but Sylvana knew the thanks was really hers. She's also provided flowers for young men to give their loves, and made sure that people there to visit and admire her home are safe, and have nice places to rest and lovely flowers to smell as they pass through.
Back after a very long hiatus!! And I hope to be back for good this time!

Wow, well that certainly didn't take long xD

Name: Timanka
Age: 9316 (Appears 19)
Height: 5'4" (163 cm)
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Trickster
Power: Manipulation of Shadows for Personal Amusment

SHIKI
Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?
Occasionally the isolated village Timanka "favors" has produced a Spiritualist or two. Generally, they go into the priesthood, and generally they ask for other gods' help first. But some have been able to elicit Timanka's aid. For a price. Whether the Spiritualists have actually done all that much better than mundane priests is still being argued, but the results have usually been more notable, for both good or bad. Timanka views people as playthings, valuable inasmuch as they can provide her with amusement. She is not openly malicious, and has been inclined to reward those who have proven interesting, just as she has been inclined to punish those who have been less cooperative.

Q. What is your characters opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion?

Timanka views people as playthings, valuable inasmuch as they can provide her with amusement. She is not openly malicious, and has been inclined to reward those who have proven interesting, just as she has been inclined to punish those who have been less cooperative.

Q. What was your character promised in exchange for their cooperation in the Project?
While fear and adoration is all well and good, the loneliness tends to press after nine millennia or so. The whole order of things didn't allow for her to form any meaningful kind of relationship or friendship with a human, and she was the only demoness around (the other "gods' were simply figments of the villagers imaginations, or perhaps they had left before Timanka had arrived.) And over the years, she had grown quite curious about humanity, and there was only so much she could learn from a distance. So when a representative from the Academy came with the opportunity to partner with some of the humans, how could she refuse?

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?
Timanka has done a lot of disturbing things. Half the curses in the village involve her name. On the other hand, there are a series of myths about her coming to the aid of those in need and even one in which she fell in love with an adventurer, only to sacrifice her own feelings so that she could help him win the hand of another human. As the story ends, And Timanka returned to the forest and wept bitter tears, but Mirran, Teyla, and their children and their childrens' children were blessed with the good fortune that only a goddess could bring.

I think I'd like to give this a try. Always happy to be apart of anything that involves monsters :D

Name: Sparx Larsa
Age: 19
Height: 5’9
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Electric Blue
Type: Human
Sexuality: Hetero
Personality: Bashful

HUMAN
Q. How long has your character been able to see Demons? If since Birth give details on any hereditary links, if caused by a near death experience detail the experience. Sparx has been able to see demons for a long as he could remember, but not in the way you think. Having a passion for video games has allowed young Sparx to delve into worlds full of monsters and demons. With a strong interest in the RPG genre, he has been gifted with the stories behind such creatures as well. Though much of his experience with them is virtual, he has also experienced many real world encounters: Maybe a shadow out the corner of his eye, or a sound nobody else could hear. He's even come face-to-face with a few, but not understanding  (or believing) that demons actually exist, he wrote off these experiences as his imagination manifesting itself. Though he dreams everyday of immersing himself in a world like his games, he believes he has a sensible hold on what is reality.

Q. What is the most significant/memorable demon that the character has encountered? What was their experience like? Growing up in a militant family there was very little discussion of supernaturals at the dinner table. Because of this, the few haunting experiences the young man had growing up were never expressed or explained. One such experience growing up in his well-kept home was a night like any other; sore fingers resting after piano lessons, yet still endowed enough to blast a few baddies on his mobile GameGuy. Though this night there seemed to be someone watching: A shadow cast from the light of the second floor shining up the stairway to the entrance of his room. Shaped like an average person, Sparx’s first thought was of his father lumbering up to his third-floor sanctuary where few adults had the stamina to reach. However, this shadow remained still. After several glances at the immobile shape, the boy became more disturbed. Calling out to his father was of no avail. The shadow just sat quietly against his wall. Louder his calls became until his father’s voice finally answered back from a part of the house that didn’t match the shadow’s location. Now frantic, the boy cried out once more and, as the footsteps of the man wandered up the stairway, Sparx watched as his shadow met with the other. As his father’s figure past over the mysterious shape, it was as if they became one. This was the most memorable experience Sparx has ever had in real life; one which he’s never talked about and never been able to explain.

Q. What is the character’s opinion of Demon’s? What has led the character to this perception? Due to his exposure to the fantastical, Sparx has an even-toned opinion that not all demons are bad. He understands their personalities are quite similar to that of normal humans. He also believes that they do not exist; at least not in the quantity that would deem their existence factual. Of course people have their opinions of ghosts and spirits lurking around in decrepit homes and such, but that’s about as far as his “belief” goes. All-in-all, he would most likely still try to avoid them if they were anything like the Humans he was accustomed to.

Q. Who were the most significant people in the character's life prior to them being recruited for the Academy? Sparx was brought up in a well-off military family with his father, mother, and older brother, Lennox. Being a retired commander, Sparx’s father pushed his sons to be the greatest example of men possible: Physically strong, quick-witted and disciplined. These were but few of the many proud traits held by the eldest of the Larsa boys. Sparx, to his father’s disappointment, inherited a scarce quantity of these traits. His mother was the most understanding of his differences and encouraged the more creative side of her son. She pushed for him to excel academically and creatively; even convincing her hard-headed husband that the piano would be a great way to teach their youngest the discipline all young men needed. Sparx’s older brother was like a kind protector. He battled off the bullies and even distracted their father with his metal and achievement. All of this, however, ended when he graduated with honors to the local military academy leaving Sparx behind for the next two years. It was at this point he had the full attention of his father, who even went so far as to fill out an application to the Tenma Academy on Sparx's behalf, to which he had very little knowledge of what it actually was aside from an old contact mentioning It'll "awaken your son's hidden potential". Spark apparently, to his disbelief, passed the aptitude test with little effort. Convinced everything was staged by his father in an attempt to enroll him into a military academy, Sparx tuned out most of the information given to him about the academy: only really maintaining the fact that they would be training him mentally, physically AND spiritual.

Name:Reico
Age: 333
Height: 7'10"(238.76cm) / 4'10" (151cm)
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Blue
Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: trickster
Power: shape shifting

SHIKI (Select at least 2 Questions to Answer)

Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?
A) Reico encountered a spiritualist many years ago, she refuses to answer the specific time of her sundering but she admits it was before many of the bound ones were here. Being an inquisitive and troublesome shiki Reico continued to pop around annoying the spiritualist she'd encountered. It ended badly as through the course of interactions she was pushed into a single form. Neither she nor the spiritualist knew how it happened but the pain of the single form drove Reico into a catatonic state.
She was taken for additional study and largely remained unresponsive to external stimuli. They were able to find that the original spiritiulast had the ability to influence her appearance and could shapeshift Reico, within limit, to whatever two legged form they wanted. She always had to revert to a pool of liquid before taking the new form, the shape seeming to fill in the height and mass as needed from somewhere. It's speculated that Reico is resisting on an instinctual level some of her more exotic transformations, the reality is that human's can't fundementally grasp the tiny details of more than two legs and the transformation can't happen. Reico being a shapeshifter has a better understanding of her form and when she awoke she was able to take the imperfect designs and transform into those forms, reluctantly.

Q. What is your characters opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion?
A) Reico has always loved interacting with humans, they were the most fun to play with and she could spend hours entertaining their youth. Ever since her entrapment she's grown a little resentful towards the older ones for containing her in so few forms but she still delights in playing with kids. She doesn't seem to notice human genders, probably because she is a shifter and the idea of a physical sex is pointless to her.

Q. What was your character promised in exchange for their cooperation in the Project?
A) When Reico regained her conciseness she was angry and sought to make those who had trapped her pay. In exchange for her help, something Rei didn't put a lot of thought into and is pretty much in an indifferent contract, she was promised that they'd break whatever had happened to her and return her back to her original shape and allow her to transform as she needed. Reico can spend hours annoying someone asking them to transform her. She has an almost obsessive desire to shift forms and her day can improve greatly by just promising a chance to change form.

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?
A) Reico is terrified of cats and other large feline predators, will not transform into them for any reason, she's never said why this was but she once without prompting transformed into her battle form and saved a child from a wild tiger attack. She maintained that she was able to do this because of a fundamental shift in the person who allowed her to shift but there hasn't been any further research data used to acknowledge what she said. But Reico will apparently willingly put herself into danger to help humans, perhaps the loss of a limb isn't a major concern for the shifter since she could in theory grow it back in the next transformation.

Bringing Aello back, with a few tweaks

Name: Aello Amara
Age: 114
Height: 4'10 (147 cm)
Hair Color: Silver
Eye Color: Silver
Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: Vain, bloodthirsty and surprisingly innocent
Power Speed

SHIKI (Select at least 2 Questions to Answer)

Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?
A) Aello has only encountered one Spiritualist in her past, and the girl in question had not had a happy life. Still, she greeted the harpy with a compliment on her appearance and Aello permitted the human to spend time with her, an odd friendship growing between the two, followed by a more physical relationship when the girl was killed by other humans. Aello has no idea exactly why this happened, but her grandmother (and namesake, the same Aello named by Hesiod) told her that this was what humans were really like - a few, perhaps were good, but most were beyond saving.

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?
A) With not just the approval of her grandmother but her active encouragement, Aello has lived up to some of the old stories about harpies. Specifically, the ones about them coming for the wicked and giving them a slow, painful death. The three humans who had killed her human were hunted down and killed by Aello, very slowly. The two who had mates were forced to watch as the harpy tore them to pieces before she finished her vengeance.

Good morning/evening everyone; apologies to everyone who I've kept waiting.
Normally I strive to reply a lot sooner, but a mixture of a blackout last night, and myself falling and oversleeping has meant a gap of inactivity xD

@ZephySempai (Sparx Larsa) [PENDING]
Well I'm going to admit that I'm somewhat relieved to see a male human submission xD
Sparx sounds really interesting overall, but there's two small issues that I'd like to bring up for your benefit.
- Firstly, human characters that have been inducted into the Tenma Project are all 'Spiritualists' who have the ability to see supernatural creatures. It's perfectly possible that Sparx's ability has only started to awaken recently, but he'd need to flat out see 'Demons' for him to be accepted into the Academy.
-Secondly in relation to the above, the Academy is a secret project being run by the government, and isn't something that's openly known or applicable to the public. Considering how Sparx's father seems to have been a veteran, I'm okay with his father being high-ranked, or somewhat involved in the project. There's a few loose ends you may need to tie up considering these facts.

@Jeflint (Reico) [PENDING]
Hey Jeflint, welcome to the roleplay~
There's a few factors that need to be discussed in regards to Reico
I'd like to mention that the term Spiritualist and Shiki are specific to the Tenma project;
-Characters who go around combating the supernatural can be given a specific class (Priests) or be collectively referred to as Spiritual Mediums.
-Your character (and all others) would be classified as a demon during their past, not a Shiki since they're not part of the project, or bonded.
-Demons in the wild (and outside of Tenma island) would not be bound, nor is there any real way to distinguish a bound demon to a non-bound one. Unless of course Reico has been held in captivity and been administered with years of testing at one of the island's research facilities.

I'm a little confused by her power description in Q1&Q3.
Does she transform based on what she wants to transform into? Or does she transform to look however a human (spiritualist or otherwise) wants her to look? While there's theoretically nothing wrong with the latter, I'm inclined to knock the idea back based on the fact that it'd be confusing and somewhat chaotic for each player/human to come up an appearance for her.
If she solely transforms based on the whim of her bonded human, I suppose that could be permissable, but I'd need to consult existing human players as to whether they'd be willing to help come up with extra forms Reico can transform into.

I can fix those bits in the background, but yes. I figured she'd have been with the research facilities for a long time, how much time she's been awake I'll leave up to you and the players but she was very much catatonic when she was forced into a single form in her initial encounter and that took a long time for her to process.

As for the shifting, the idea I had is that Rei's normal form is actually a goo/puddle and that for her to take on any form is easy since she doesn't have bones or internal organs as humans would understand them. When Reico was in the wild she could become anything she wanted, within the limits of the system if we had one. Think the Impossible Man. For her shifting is like breathing she just did it. It might have gotten lost in the translation though. Let me see if I can explain what I was thinking better.

While Reico is unconscious she is unable to respond completely to the idea of what others want her to shift into, leaving her stuck in humanoid shapes. When she's awake she'd have a sort of empathic link with whomever is bonded with her/specific members who can control her and use that to fulfill their request. If they wanted a swarm of bee's they'd only have to think Bee's and Reico could turn into a swarm. Taking the troublesome thinking away from the human and just using their basic concept to transform herself. Of course she'd sometimes put her own spin on them because of her mischievous nature.

The idea being that a human could not possibly know how to transform and shape shift like Reico does and so they could not provide her with the subtle details she would need for complex shapes. Which is why when she's asleep the only thing she could relate to her master with would be humanoid shapes. Or maybe a specific shape, such as the rest form or battle form, that wouldn't require any descriptions, which we can certainly come up with as a group or I can throw a few at the group under the spoiler section. Which is why she has a "battle form" though she'd rarely spend time in that one and would instead be in her "resting form" because it's more cute.

I see Reico's skill tree, if we were to call it that, as being Shape shifting then Telepahty/Empathy so that she can understand what humans want out of her. Since you said that the Shiki would eventually get a second power.

Does that help? :)

@Jeflint
I think my primary concern with Reico is that I'm struggling to see a tangible concept behind the character.
What I'm seeing is a storyline where Reico is captured, restricted and rendered dependent. And that it comes off more as a prequel to the first IC post, than actual information about the character.

Using existing characters as an example;
Aello projects the savagery of a harpy.
Haru plays into the tricky mischevous nature of kitsune
Sylvana is characterized by her love of, and protection nature.
With Reico though, I just see the lived experiences of a malleable blob that's has an overly friendly disposition.
Essentially I can't see how she fits the features of a demon. Although her personality is listed as trickster, the restriction on her transformations, and dependency on a human spiritualist just don't link up well enough in my mind.

Fair points, I was coming at it as the beginning of a succubus. The ultimate seduction because she can literally look like anyone and anything.

I naturally prefer to play a submissive character but I can rethink and return with another character if that's easier.

I hate to be difficult, but I think that might be for the best.
If you're wanting to play submissive characters, there's a fair few alternatives to choose from;
For example you brought up contemplating a succubi and I think it'd be amusing to see a character that actually requires more than just acceptance and friendship from humans, but struggles to get it.
It could be inclination towards fail-characters talking, but the concept of a succubus who has trouble seducing others, and is more the shy submissive type sounds like it could be rather amusing, assuming that the character is the one that goes submissive opposed to the writing style xD

Eye Color: Violet
Type: Human
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Brash Egotist

HUMAN
Q. How long has your character been able to see Demons? If since Birth give details on any hereditary links, if caused by a near death experience detail the experience.
Zachary’s ability to physically perceive demonic entities manifested shortly after he was forced to quit from a highly renowned modelling agency. Condescending of others, and highly conceited of his own capabilities, he didn’t hold a shred of respect or fondness for his peers, and hence those within the industry weren’t the least bit surprised when he was knifed in the back on his way home from work one day. Upon awakening in the hospital, he found his bedside attended to by a scrawny young woman who never seemed to sleep, eat, or leave the hospital despite seeming perfectly healthy with the exception of her pale complexion. During his stay at the hospital he gradually began to fall for the woman’s shy modesty, but on the day he was to be discharged, the woman came to say her farewells and vanished into thin air. Upon asking around, it didn’t take much digging around to discover that the woman was a former patient that had passed away in the room he’d been allocated.

Q. What is the character’s opinion of Demon’s? What has led the character to this perception?
Even after his recovery, Zachary found it difficult to return to the modelling industry, and ultimately ended up working as a standalone escort service. While things started or relatively sluggishly, Zachary soon found himself being recruited to spend time with women he’d struggle to describe. Despite noticing that something was eerily wrong with some of his employers, he feigned friendship and intimidated intimacy, taking on any job that offered to accommodate his exceptionally high costs. By the time he realized he was dealing with demons, he’d already developed the same perception towards demons as he had for women. Gullible playthings, that would emotionally grovel for a scrap of his attention. By the time the Academy took notice and recruited him into the programme, Zachary had already experienced a few near misses with death… but has escaped unscathed each time, further adding to his egotism.

Ackward subs are what I do best. 😋 And I can refine and tweak a bit if you'd like before moving onto character idea number 2.

Second idea is a super greedy and possessive shiki who has gotten in trouble for her desire to horde things, based on dragons essentially. "This spiritualist is mine! They chose me!" "I also chose..." "But I own your heart right? That other shiki means nothing! RIGHT?!"

I'm pretty flexible but as a sexual Dom I'm pretty terrible. 😋 Almost every character I play with the exception of three have started off and remained faithful little pets.

It's entirely up to you, but if you wanted to stick with Reico I'd guess that a complete rewrite would be in order.
There were a few good factors, but since the issue was more overall concept than minor margins of error, she'd probably need more than just a few small tweaks here and there.

The 'super greedy possessive Shiki' approach already exists a bit... but I suppose competition wouldn't be a bad thing xD
Sylvana's a hoarder of... things, and Aello is a vain character that comes across as quite possessive.
That said, targeted hoarding of a certain type of object, and being openly blunt (as you've portrayed in the quotes) is certainly a different type of jealousy, and could be a lot of fun :P

If I may... the Reico tweak and Mira, my possessive demon, for consideration.

Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: Dutiful family servant
Power: shape shifting

SHIKI (Select at least 2 Questions to Answer)

Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?

A) Reico came to the attention of the Yamada clan when she was attempting to make a name for herself as a succubus and the affection of all, because isn't that what a succubus does? She was seen more of as a nuisance than a danger and an apprentice spiritual medium was sent to take care of the temptress. Naturally Reico turned her charms, or attempted to, on the young Ryu. It didn't go as planned for either of them and Reico discovered her ability to appear as anyone's sexual fantasy having vanished after Ryu released a binding spell mistakenly.

Begging and pleading didn't help since Ryu had no clue what he'd done to the demon. Put out and demanding the respect, love and adoration she needed to survive she returned to the Yamada clan. Weak and out of sorts she'd regressed into a much more docile state. Where once Reico could look at man or woman and know what was needed to feed off the victim she now struggled under the restraint set by the Yamada's. She found she could shift shapes but only in attempting to please them, this did not go well in a clan of demon quellers and more times than not she found herself in the form of a servant girl.

Reico tried to explain that she needed only to be free to shift as she pleased and she would be happy and content and would not cause problems. Denied her basic ability Rei strived to survive as a faithful servant hoping for the pleasure she once thrived on. Her often passive and overly servant like attitude has caused no amounts of problems as she goes excessively far trying to make those around her love and need her. Some would say Rei is short on critical thinking skills as the demon has caused as many problems for herself as those around her. She's always sorry for her actions but sometimes that only makes her actions all the worse.

Q. What is your characters opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion?

A) To Reico humans are her food source. She lived on the energies of adoration, sex and love for years. She had no lasting attachments to any of her food and would flit from person to person without a care in the world. Now she has found that the attachment to a particular human is more rewarding both in a spiritual and physical sense.

Q. What was your character promised in exchange for their cooperation in the Project?

A) Reico has always worked under the promise that she would be returned to her full power. The Yamada clan has been unable to accomplish this and so she was handed off to others over the years always with the promise that she would be restored to her former glory. Rei takes it in stride and does the best she can to please those around her, drinking in the need for companionship as much as she can. She would never admit out loud how hungry she is for the pleasures she has been denied these long centuries.

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?

A) Reico is terrified of felines, and it's never been found out why, but for a short period of time she transformed and fought off the tiger. Reico has never showed the spontaneous ability to transform without expression permission from her charge before or since. The preservation of her ward might have been enough to overrule whatever the original spell had put in place.

Mira

Name: Mira
Age: 393
Height: 4'10" (151 cm)
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Green
Type: Shiki
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: "What's yours is mine."
Power: Enhanced physical attributes

SHIKI (Select at least 2 Questions to Answer)
Q. Has your character encountered any Spiritualists in the past? How did that encounter transpire?

A) Mira encountered a Priest early in her life, she had been ransacking a village taking the food and drink for herself and a few incidental treasures when Shi attempted to banish Mira. That didn't actually work as intended. Instead of banishing Mira from the village the demon took a keen interest in the priest and dropped everything she'd been hording and focused her full attention on the priest.

There was little physically that the priest could do to but annoy Mira and eventually as the priest grew weaker and weaker a real fear settled into Shi's heart. If his banishment spell didn't work and she was physically unmoved how could he deal with this demon? As the priest kneeled to recover strength Mira sat in front, watching Shi. When a paranoid question was asked Mira simply responded "You're mine. Why shouldn't I keep my eye on you?"

Taking a chance Shi stood up and ran away from the village. Mira easily followed the priest, an amused smile on her face. Mira has been following Shi and his clan ever since and has become a faithful protector of the family, after all the Shi Clan is her possession and she should protect what is hers. Having outlived Shi Mira imprinted her possession onto the next family line. She has always selected a specific member of the family and has jealously guarded and watched over that member to the exclusion of almost all the others.

Q. What is your characters opinion of mankind? Is there anything that has influenced this opinion?

A) Mira views humans as weak and largely unworthy of her attentions. Before she met Shi she lived to take everything from the weaklings as her own. Whatever spell was cast on Mira has given her a new appreciation for the strength that some of the humans are capable of and she wants to watch them evolve into a creature as great as herself. She is quick to judge a person and slow to forgive them. She is always leery of any that get to close to her family

Q. What was your character promised in exchange for their cooperation in the Project?

A) No promises were ever exchanged with Mira. She has merely followed the Shi Clan. She grows distraught when kept away from her possession and merely wishes to be near it, such to the point where she has to be ordered against her will to stay behind sometimes. She is naturally very protective of the clan and will fight to protect it.

Q: What is the most disturbing (or heart-warming) act your character has committed towards mankind?

A) Mira does not look at most humans as sentient creatures. To her they are little more than objects for her to own and play with to do what she will with. She has little emotional attachment to them. She accepts that the members of the Shi Clan are very frail and unworthy of her time but something about them has triggered her instinct to own them. She still demands tribute from the members of the clan but it seems almost secondary for her to demand them and after she's given the item she'll toss it negligently away as if to indifferently say she doesn't need their tribute. Oh she'll remember she has the item, but she's happy to simply now claim it as hers and has learned, grudgingly to share a possession. She still will not give up food or drink.

Personally I think I lean a little more towards Reico1.1, simply because I'm not sure how Mira's obsession with the Shi clan will work without someone actually playing the character. I'm going to admit, I partially expected to find out that the Shi clan had been wiped out at some stage and she was looking for a new family to attach herself to. xD

Either way, both character sheets seem fine.
But for the time being I'll only be allowing one character per person. (Due to past experiences with secondaries and activity).
Since it's a matter of preference, I'd also appreciate if others could get involved and mention which they think is more suitable/fun to mess around with.

Not to worry. 😊 We can easily attach Mira to another of the characters. Do you think she'd stop using the old family name? It's her possession. So the family could be the Smiths now and Mira would still refer to them as her Shi-chan or Shi-kun depending on the character.

I had no intention of playing two characters. If we don't need one, the other can be a GM NPC if needed. 😊

Personally I have more of an inclination towards REI myself cause I like shifters over static form characters and reworked her to be hopefully easier to mesh with the party.

I feel like throwing in my 2 cents by saying that I think Reico sounds like she would be a fun character to see, and I'm sure the hijinks she would get up to would be great to see ^^ Though I will admit, that on the other hand it would be interesting to see the interactions that Mira, an older dragon, might have with Sylvana whose still young for what she is and very much like a scaly, overgrown puppy.

Edit:
Forgot to add that I'm looking forward to interactions between Sylvana and Zachary. She's everything he believes a Shiki to be, and so far he seems like the one person who might end up teaching her that not everybody wants to be a friend, or has good intentions.
Back after a very long hiatus!! And I hope to be back for good this time!

Avalon29

Between the two I'd say Reico as well.  She sounds like she would be a fun character to have around.
