I am tentatively interested!  I have an Eclipse I haven’t gotten to play in forever who could be fun. She was described by others (IC) as “a diplomat, a bureaucrat, a psychotic wild-eyed howling she-demon of terror, and quite an adept ballroom dancer.”

I had wanted to play an Eclipse. Maybe we can see a place where our characters and concepts can work together.

Please see my concept below. I was just starting on the mechanical details.

Name: Mira
Caste: Eclipse
Gender: Female
Appearance: Full and soft, Mira has long red hair done into long braids. She wears quality light armour and a concerned, worried expression.  An unexalted Dragonblood, she recently gave birth to her cousins twins.  The children were stolen from the house, and in spite of the danger, she went to negotiate for her childrens release.  They had been kidnapped by a lunar exalt, who called herself The Raging in Calm Water and on the verge of Mira's debasement, the unconquered sun touched her, and filled Mira's mind.

Raging was once called Yredrasta and she had called upon Luna to be able to breed children with Mira.  She had taken the children as part of a promise long forgotten.

Mira made a new deal, promising that for her children's safe return, she would lie with the Lunar once a year until she was pregnant with their children once more.

Yredrasta agreed, and took their first coupling that night. Once it was over, Mira carried her cousins children to where their father would find them, and fled.

She was anathema now, and no emotional ties would delay the Wyld Hunt.

History: There once was a maiden. Born to one of the great powerful families of Lookshy, she had a bright future ahead of her. Though she did not exalt, this woman proved her worth time and time again within the legions. Eventually joining the prestigious first recon force of Lookshy, this woman led many campaigns against the enemies of her people. Her battles were great, her accolades many. Despite never being graced by the dragons themselves, she took a dragon-blooded husband and was granted her own small household. It was a good, glorious life.

There once was a maiden, maybe. But the agents of Heaven felt this maiden could cause dangerous changes in Creation. So in their wisdom, they decided this maiden would not be. The destiny weaved around her life was to be discarded, excised from ever existing. But someone saved it from the wastebin of fate.

There once was a maiden. She awoke beneath a great blossoming cherry tree, pink petals blowing around her as she took her first breaths within Creation. Memories filled of a life that never was, a world that did not come to be. Grabbing up her spear, determination in her eyes, she set to work.

So, Exigents are exalted by exigence which is the energy Sol gives to a god or goddess who pleads to create a champion of their own correct?

I would be curious to try out creating such an exalt, but we need to establish a strong story for the origin of such a character and more so god or goddess who created the champion and make it sound relevant to be in the group.

I am leaning towards that whatever pitiful village the exalts are saving, the said village god (before the rest of the cast appears) begged Sol for salvation for the village and succeeded in getting exigence and turned one locals into a champion of said god or goddess (even go so far as god or goddess entirely extinguish themselves in the process).

The book says this

As an Exigent, you were chosen by a lesser god who petitioned the Unconquered Sun for the Flame of Exigence in response to a great crisis. That god may still exist, gravely weakened, or they may have perished to empower your Exaltation. That exigent need, and the god’s power and purviews, are what define your own power and purpose. You have been Exalted less than five years.

As we discussed elsewhere, I'd prefer we not use the god of this village as the source.

Hairy, would you be open to a Getimian? Was thinking using my Lookshy ranger idea, going with the concept that she was part of the first force rangers, exalting during a dangerous operation against an anathema that nearly failed. When she came to, she awoke with the memory of a world where she did exalt... A world where she had risen in the ranks of the Lookshy army to the point of being one of it's greatest generals. The knowledge that she could have lived that life made her determined to use her newly gained power to carve a piece of glory for herself in the world.

No issues with a Getimian. I'm kinda curious about those myself.

Hairy, if you'll allow it.  I'd like to take the 2e Great Curse and Trigger of Heart of Flint.  It's the one I've always played, my personal favorite, and I won't have to worry about forgetting about it the way I will if I try to take a new one.  Presumably the duration would change to Session in accordance with the others, but I'll repost the text of the old one for you.

Even when I know it's a terrible idea, I still can't help using character background as a basis for design. My character is absolutely useless in combat and is going to die so fast.

There's nothing wrong in that. I've created characters that were less than optimal, for RP reasons, and they're as much fun to play as Minmaximus :P

Reading the new book.

Thoughts of an Alchemical assassin I once played flit in my mind.

Focusing on the gambler.

Making him a 'social' bounty hunter.

Gets in good with a target. Gets them drunk. Spins wild tales of a den of iniquity they would love. Walks them right to the authorities.

He's not going to be a combat beast by any stretch of the means, but he'll survive long enough to disengage or for backup to arrive.

 There's a single charm that lunars have that cover that- Many-Faced Moon Transformation. Lets you alter physical characteristics on yourself including sexual characteristics.
