Thanks Wolfling, fantastic character.

Now ... deep breaths everyone because the ride will be rocky.
As if your characters have not been through enough ... the angst will hit the fan at Hogwarts.
You still have time to back out if you so wish  >:)

I feel that we need to know all the things....how else are muggle-borns and half-bloods raised in the muggle world supposed to be angry enough to beat the crap outta everyone before we start?

Imma plant a flag here as well.  And also, if we're doing this, I wanna claim a young Johnny Depp as my face claim.  Got an idea well locked in inside of my head

Consider if you will 2 magical beings:
1) Poltergeist/s - manifested by the energy that all the tortured/ abused students channel into what New Scientist calls the quantum mechanical vacuum. A load of bumcop really but ... but there will be a few new poltergeists showing up around the school because of all the angst in the air  >:) Think Peeves but vile and not a quirky looking guy in a cap. BUT what if the students who generated these apparitions could actually direct them in their mischief - and no one other than said students would be any the wiser.

2)Obscurial/s - https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Obscurial
An Obscurial was a young wizard or witch who had developed a dark parasitical magical force, known as an Obscurus, as a result of their magic being suppressed through psychological or physical abuse. When a magical child was forced to repress their talent through physical or psychological abuse, they developed a parasitical magical force inside of them called an Obscurus, resulting from their strong emotions of distress. An Obscurial might lose control when they reached their emotional and mental breaking point, releasing their Obscurus as an invisible (or nearly invisible) destructive wind. In extreme cases, they might physically transform into an Obscurus.

When an Obscurial released the Obscurus within, their eyes became pure white and their physical form vibrated and became distorted. While the Obscurus was invisible, the Obscurial could physically interact with the world without making physical contact, though the ability was uncontrolled and triggered by the host's distress, anger, or other intense emotions. This notably damaged structures and objects near the host.
---------------------------

Now normally these Obscurials die because the psychological / physical abuse and the oppression of their magic starts very young so that the Obscurial dies before they are even 10. Read up more about them if you like, link is up there  ::)

Anyways ... how many students now at Hogwarts have just spent the best part of 8/9 months being magically oppressed and abused?!  What if at least 3 maybe 4 students are so damanged in that time that an Obscuria begins to form inside of them. Think of it as a major ball of PTSD getting unleashed, but every time it does - it is catastrophic not just for those about them but for the person too. The way to be saved is of course through love, so you have to really consider - do you want your character eventually destroyed or ... will you let them be loved / saved?!

... Is this permission to write an obscurial who survived or ... are you saying we'll see them as NPCs?

Either of these are good, but. ... Yeah.

-sits really hard on his other 18 million questions-

Last one for today, I swear.

nope, this is me saying - that technically if that is what it takes to create an Obscurial, then all the Muggleborn / Half-bloods / mixed-bloods that have been through hell and back could potentially have the makings of being an Obscurial. So ...not as NPC's, but one of your characters if this is something that any of you would like. No one has to if they don't want to, but it is another avenue to explore with all the damage that has been done.

Always feel free to ask, I may not reply straight away but I will eventually reply  :-)

They can be very powerful if they have the opportunity to become so, but those Obscurials often had the Obscurus inside them for a few years at least. It is entirely up to you and your character if you want their Obscurus to grow too powerful. They will only technically be manifesting for the first time at Hogwarts. But do know that every time the Obscurus is used, that dark power poisons the person. Will you want your character eventually saved or killed off?!

I have a less taxing day tomorrow so will start sorting threads etc. I'm having issues atm with my WIKI link and can't get it open to load up images. So if I start threads tomorrow and they are not 'exciting' just know it is all about the writing :P

I must finish at least one of my characters as well tomorrow.  >:)

I tend to make characters that could go either way.

Sometimes DEATH is a happy ending. *nods*  Like with Clarity - she is a lil murder muffin  (in my head), but I doubt I will allow her to completely go that route so I could totally see her being consumed by the darkness and dying. I also don't see her being very trusting so saving her could be a hard thing to do.

This MAY have been asked already, but just wanted to be sure.  When you say that they had to rummage through the wands, what are the odds that they actually find theirs?  And how do we want to sort that out if there is a chance they find their original?

Caela

Man y'all were chatty while I was sleeping for the day!!! lol

Kendra, I sent you a second sheet for the other potential character idea mentioned a couple days back! Enjoy your vino and a quiet evening!

Wolfling, Clarity looks amazing!! All the walking PTSD we're all going to throw at this game! I could almost feel bad for these characters...almost.  >:)

InnocentSynn, I think we're all sort of planning whether our characters will find their wands or not. I know my plan is for my own to find her, only to find that the temperamental Unicorn hair core has died and her wand no longer functions. I think I saw someone else mention the possibility that they find their wand...but someone else already has it and how would they go about trying to get it back? Lots of ways to play it. Maybe they don't find it at all, maybe their trauma makes the wand more temperamental and less effective, maybe they find it bending more easily toward darker spells? Lots of potential for just one more trauma on top of all the others!

Halo....with those questions I can't wait to see what wicked bent your mind takes with your characters!

Caela

Face Claim: Danielle Campbell
Name: Guinevere Suzette Ollivander

Nickname: Gwen

Gender: Female

Age: 18 (March 20)

Sexuality: Experimental - Still figuring it out

Birthplace: Swansea, Wales

Blood Status: Half-blood
Muggle-Born Registration Number: N/A

Year: 7th - 1st time
House: Ravenclaw

Wand: 11in, Walnut, Phoenix feather core, nicely pliant, pewter handle that her mother engraved with vines and enchanted for protection
Patronus: A large Raven (this made her laugh when she first perfected the spell since it seemed a bit on the nose with her being Housed in Ravenclaw)
Apparation license: Yes

Physical Appearance: Gwen is slightly above average height standing at 5'7 but is often told she seems taller because her personality can fill a room. She rarely wears heels but when she does she favors stilettos that add at least 3 inches to her height. Chestnut brown hair falls to the middle of her back in soft, thick waves and is often left free unless she's working or dueling, then it's drawn back into a tight braid so that not even a single strand blocks her vision. Green eyes greet the world with sharp intelligence and while she can be serious (and sometimes intense) they also snap with mirth and full lips are almost always quick to curve into a smile. She's considered a tattoo but doesn't have one yet as she hasn't found a design she'd want for years and she refuses to make such a decision on a mere whim.

Personality Traits: Friendly | Intelligent | Quick to laugh | Loyal | Vengeful if crossed or someone she cares for is hurt | Slow to anger | Patient (mostly) | Adventurous | Trustworthy | Hardworking | Slightly arrogant of her talents

Personal History: Gwen was the only child of Sian and Thomas Ollivander. Both Half-bloods who initially met in their time at Hogwarts (both were in Ravenclaw) but who didn't actually start seeing each other romantically until after school when they both returned to their families in Wales. Sian had become a primary school teacher who kept an eye out for budding talents among her Muggle students, while Thomas had a small wand repair shop. Unlike his famous father, Thomas didn't make wands but he became rather well known locally for the quality of his repair-work and the small family was comfortable and happy.

Many weekends were spent with Gwen's grandmother, Agnes Ollivander, listening to stories, working in her garden, and learning magical basics of potion-making and herblore. Agnes ran a small apothecary out of her home, brewing potions and spelling minor medicinal remedies for those in the magical community in the area. She also told Gwen about her Grandfather and there as always such a sadness in her voice that young Gwen was amazed to learn, that the man was still alive. She'd assumed her Grandmother's longing for her lost husband was due to him dying, not simply that his work meant more to him than anything else.

At 11, meeting her Grandfather for the first time when she stepped foot in his shop to buy her own first one, she was surprised by what she encountered. As a young girl she'd pictured the man who made her beloved Grandmother so sad must be some sort of villain but what she found was a man of genius, consumed by the brilliance of his one extraordinary passion. Standing quietly while he started grabbing boxes (he'd heard the bell above his door but not looked to see who'd entered) she waited for him to really see her, and found some small satisfaction in the shock that spread across his face as he took in her features.

Except for the green eyes she'd gotten from her father, and a few extra inches from her mother (her Grandmother was a petite 5'2) young Gwen was the spitting image of her Grandmother and it was clear her Grandfather knew who she was at just a glance. Once he recovered himself, he put down the boxes he was hold and moved easily through the clutter of his shop, pulling out a box and muttering something that sounded like, "So this is who you were for," to the wand inside.

The walnut wand, with it's phoenix core, proved to be the perfect match for the bright young witch. Her Grandfather offered to write to her if she'd allow and, at the encouragement of her parents and her Grandmother, they started a surprisingly lively correspondence...if one didn't mind hearing all about the minute details of wandlore and the strange experiments her Grandfather was performing as he sought to create the perfect wand.

Gwen enjoyed all of it. She seemed to have the same propensity for wandlore that her Grandfather did and enjoyed writing him about her own studies about it in the Hogwart's Library. Learning where her Grandfather, and the published works on the matter, differed was always interesting and often the responses from him when she asked questions about them were so stridently written that she could hear his voice coming from the page as clearly as if he'd sent a Howler!

As her years at school rolled by, and fear of what was happening outside of it (not to mention inside of it) grew, letters from her parents and grandparents helped to keep Gwen grounded. Her parents had raised her with a strong sense of right and wrong and to never let fear overcome her sense of compassion. She did what she could, when she could. Things like spending extra time in the greenhouses to help harvest herbs for the infirmary, comforting younger students when classes became scary, helping other Housemates with their studies...all to keep some sense of normalcy for those around her. She couldn't stop what was happening, but she could try to shine some light in the dark,

And then things got worse for everyone. People outside were disappearing, rumors flew like mad...and letters from her parents and her grandmother stopped coming. Had they been taken by the Ministry on trumped up charges? Gone into hiding? Worse? Evening Ollivander didn't know...and then his letters stopped too.

Only after the Battle of Hogwarts did she find out the truth. Her parents, and grandmother, had been taken by a group of Death Eaters who found out that her family had been helping Muggleborns flee the country. Her mother's position as a teacher in a Muggle school and placed her uniquely well to spot magical talent early and she'd made a point of arranging "school trips" to shuffle children (and their families) out to the countryside where they were less likely to be noticed, or to port cities where they could flee Britain entirely. Unfortunately a Death Eater took notice and realized that often times there were children on these trips that weren't a part of her school, and who didn't return with the rest of the class.

Tortured with the Crutiatis curse (an attempt to extract information on who else was helping them) her grandmother and father both suffered heart attacks and her mother's mind simply snapped. The doctors at St. Mungos vowed to keep her comfortable but doubted she'd ever speak, or do much other than stare out the window in her room, again.

Her grandfather was taken as well, his shop, and the vast majority of his inventory, utterly destroyed. He was going to have to restart his life's work from scratch but he was alive (she had no idea how she was ever going to repay Harry and his friends for that) and all either of them had left was each other. She spent the summer staying with him and did what her grandmother hadn't been able to do so long ago...she threw herself into his passion alongside him. Days spent helping him organize cores and wood, learning his methods (though it would be years before she'd be able to make a wand nearly as good as his) and practicing wandmaking from his leftovers. Nothing she made was worth selling yet. At best they'd produce a couple of joke bangs or flashes of light, but she was learning and each attempt improved on the last. Ollivander promised that if she kept applying herself she'd, eventually, produce wands good enough to be sold in his shop.

Family: Garrick Ollivander | Paternal Grandfather | Wandmaker | Half-blood
Agnes Ollivander | Paternal Grandmother | Home Apothecary | Pure-blood | Deceased
Thomas Ollivander | Father | Wand Repair | Half-blood | Deceased
Sian Ollivander | Mother | Teacher | Muggle-born | Alive but in a vegetative state in St. Mungos

Likes: Almost anything outdoors | Wandmaking | Music | Time with friends | Reading | Writing (she writes poetry to help clear her mind) | Helping younger students
Dislikes: The Ministry (their cover ups hurt SO. MANY. PEOPLE.) | Cruel people | Being cooped up with nothing to do | Nightmares of losing her grandfather | Spiders | Snakes | Most vegetables
Strength: She's already found her passion in life, she's going to follow in her Grandfather's footsteps and be a wandmaker...and he says she shows a talent for it which is the highest praise from old Ollivander!
Weakness: Having already lost so much of her family, her worst fear is losing her Grandfather and being utterly alone

On's and Off's: Gwen is young and still learning what she does and doesn't like. With the war happening there hasn't been much time, or inclination to explore but she knows she likes time to get to know someone (their mind as well as their body), she likes finding those small places that no one else knows a partner enjoys being caressed and watching the passion build in them. She enjoys trying new things and laughing if they don't go exactly to plan.

Things that are absolute turn-offs for her include: bathroom play, permanent marking (a few scratches or bite marks are fun though!), humiliation, and hardcore BDSM (lighter, more playful bondage and games are fine for her, just plot accordingly and most things can be talked out!)

Extra: For any additional information you want to include, please put that here.

Good morning all, another fabulous character has been approved. Am still waking up, have stuffz to do but will be back on again later to reply to questions etc. I am on my phone, fat thumbs and tiny keyboard does not mix well. Caela, she's splendid!!

Thank you! I wanted someone who wasn't Muggle-born but also had had to deal with loss because of the war at the same time. I thought making her someone learning wandmaking (cause gods more of them are gonna be needed!) made sense as well and when I went looking at Ollivander's background there's all sorts of professional information about the man but not much at all that's personal so I thought who better for her to start learning from than Grandpa?  :D Kendra was sweet and let me get away with it lol.

@InnocentSynn - exactly what Caela said in her post. Couldn't have put it any better.

@Caela - thanks for that  :-)

Think I am just about finished with one of my characters, my fingers are gone blue from the cold. I seriously need to turn the heating up.

Do we have any amazing creators with photo editing type skills in the event that people want snazzy game avatars or the game needs buttons or banners?!
I know I used to do it all myself back in the day, but I no longer have photoshop or the patience for photo editing, so if this is something your creative juices want to get into, please let me know
