Rainy - whenever I am stuck for a name, I sometimes trawl through baby name sites / unusual baby name sites lol or a think of 2 traits they may have and google names with those meanings to see what pops up. Sometimes even name generators help - often just to spark the imagination. Hope some of that helps.

• Highly focused when she's into her work - she loses track of time when working on projects 
• Mechanically Creative - she's constantly trying to invent new things or just recreate stuff on her own 
• Talented Sculptor - known for creating very life like sculptures often of other students(in the buff!) 
• A Leonardo da Vinci superfan - has a full set of da Vinci machine mini replicas she keeps in a trunk 
• Generally Friendly and affectionate once you get to know her. Be warned, she's a hugger

Brief History:
Muggle born, Emma's Mother used to be a cook at a diner. But now that Emma has a few years under her belt at Hogwarts she's helped her mother start up her own bakery & catering business which has become very successful.

Emma was born in London, England. She's never known her father but he most certainly was not a wizard. What he was, was a lot of fun. Or at least that's what her mother always tells her. Her mother met him at a club and they hooked up a couple times but she never got his last name. She thinks he might have been in a band but she can't quite remember because they were always pretty intoxicated at the time. She never saw him again.

Emma wants to become an a sort of magical engineer and admires the creations of early muggle-inventors. Her life goal is to bring muggle devices to the magical world. When she was young there was a few accidental magical machine interactions that caught the attention of the magic world. This is how she was brought into it and received her invitation to Hogwarts. They soon gave her a tutor to help get things under control. Her mother believes (the invitation/scholarship is to a private boarding school.) Her mother is very proud of her but misses her a lot every year when she's gone.

Wizarding War... Emma tried to stay home but classes were mandatory. She signed their papers and followed the rules. Emma isn't a rebel by nature and she is certainly not a fighter. Or at least she likes to think that she's not, however during the troubles she made several little inventions to help people that were far more rebellious than she was. One of her personal favorite inventions was a pocket watch that could be whispered into and it would save "voice mail" that could be handed off to someone else. The only way to retrieve the message was to know what exact time to set the watch too, down to the second hand. Her second favorite invention was a tiny mechanical mouse that was like a motion detector - set it down a hall and if someone walks by it will scurry through the mouse holes and come to tell you someone is approaching (little flashing red eyes).

Emma was never caught and never got in trouble during the troubles, she was more the type to invent stuff to help out rather than actually use the stuff. The politics and prejudice that occurred were things that she never understood or wanted any part of and she resents anyone pointing out the differences between muggle, mud-blood, or pure-blood. On principle, she does everything she can to avoid using those terms at all.

During the times of all the troubles, Emma had hid out in the Room of Requirement with many of the others and avoided the round ups. Following Neville's lead she assisted with the children mostly. While there she used her little mechanical mouse to help the others evade and detect those that were hunting for them. As someone that is adverse to fighting, she avoided conflict until the final battle. Even then she opted to stay at the rear and tend to wounded by using healing spells, potions, and charms. Sometimes at night she lays awake, unable to sleep, and can see the empty dead stare of her fellow students from the shadows. No nightlight can hold back the dark where her deepest fears have always hidden, in the blackness the eyes are always watching.

♚ 1997: Summertime--went into hiding with their brother and mother after a warning from her father. Their father remained working. Brother and mother were still in hiding.
♚ 1997: Wintertime--Riann was caught by Snatchers and sent to Azkaban.
♚ 1998: Wintertime--Her father went missing.
♚ 1998: Released from Azkaban after the Battle of Hogwarts.
♚ 1998: Returned to her ruined home to find out her father went missing while she was in Azkaban.
♚ 1999: Summertime--Returning to Hogwarts to start her 7th year a year late.

Riann was born to Peter and Rhiannon Blackwell in the winter of 1980. Her mother was a secondary teacher at a muggle school, and her father worked as an Archivist at the Ministry of Magic. Riann also has an older brother named Rick, who was always holed up in his room, writing about anything and everything. Riann was a wild child, often found running around in the neighborhood searching for animals as a child to watch or play with. Her father wondered if Riann would show magical aptitude, as her brother did at an earlier age. It wasn't until Riann was nine years old that she began to summon about a dozen different animals into their backyard one afternoon. Riann was then able to join her brother at Hogwarts at age 11 but was sorted into Ravenclaw of all Houses. Rick was sorted into Hufflepuff but wanted to be a Ravenclaw. So he was upset when Riann--the wild child and animal lover was sorted into Ravenclaw.

During the summer of 1997, Riann's family went into hiding, excluding her father (he kept working and secretly sent money to his family). Still, by wintertime, one afternoon when Riann left their small campgrounds to go exploring--she was snatched and taken to Azkaban after having everything stripped away from her and a number tattooed to the back of her neck. Separated from her family, Riann didn't even know that her father had gone missing while she was a prisoner in Azkaban. Supposedly he was trying to find a way to get her out of prison, but the family has not heard from him since the winter of 1998. Her brother Rick assumes he was murdered after trying to find a way to get Riann out of prison.

Riann's time in prison was not... good. She didn't like the crowded room, the shit bucket, or the water bucket; the other prisoners often took more than their fair share of drinks. She gave up on trying to get everyone to share equally. She gave up on trying to take care of her hair--in fact; she asked the guards to shave it all off her second month inside. They thought she was trying to egg them on, but when she didn't wail or cry during the process, they realized she was serious about getting rid of it. Some of the guards tried to mess with her, harm her, call her names--but Riann often didn't react, instead growing reserved and impassive, which helped her in the long run. They didn't bother fucking with her too often since she wasn't good entertainment... for the most part.

Her time in Azkaban was a few months, but Riann was still impacted greatly. Her usual cheerful personality turned cynical and sour. After her return to her ruined home, Riann became more reclusive. She hardly left her room other than to shower or bathe (three times a day at first, but she managed to cut it down to two later on). Riann became obsessed with cleanliness, often washing her hands so much that the skin became so dry it cracked. When it came time to return to Hogwarts, she got a medical excuse to remain at home, recovering from her time in Azkaban. Her brother returned to work, while her mother only worked part-time as a supply teacher so Rhiannon could focus on helping Riann heal. Riann would go to therapy meetings and even was prescribed medicine for her obsessions and depressive states.

Now, in the summer of 1999, Riann is heading back to Hogwarts to finish her schooling--due to her mother pleading with her. Riann would rather forget about everything, but she loves her mother and father enough to try and return. But Riann is cynical and is sure she'll flunk out despite their wishes. Perhaps she might find something that breathes some life... and magic back into her veins.

Physical Appearance: Chi stands at about 5'6 and has a curvy figure. Her natural eye color is brown, but she often charms them to appear other colors. She's often found in clothes that show off her toned, ink-adorned figure. She enhances her natural assets with a variety of wigs, runway-inspired make-up, and nails painted in flamboyant colors.

Personality Traits: Argumentative (her first word was why), Obedient (despite her smart mouth, she usually falls in line for those in positions of authority after much pouting/complaining/whining), Flashy (feels naked without excess), Selective Memory (who wants to dwell in the past, especially if it was ugly), Great Pretender (everything's great!)

Before He-Who-Needed-To-Sit-The-Fuck-Down ruined the world, Chi enjoyed a comfortable spot in her family, wizarding society, and amongst her friends. Thanks to her ability to pass her classes (not ace but pass), her parents gave her free reign. She made friends easily regardless of their blood status, somehow juggling her extreme friends with more liberal ones. Her laidback personality often surprised people to discover she came from a family known for their exclusive, hoity-toity parties and prominence in the MoM. Most people regarded her as being something of a party girl. The popular chick who wasn't too stuck in the clouds to notice those beneath her.

Personal History:

• Chi's parents are a love match. Her mother, Clara, had been vacationing in Lagos with her family when she met Sam. What should have been a summer fling became an obsession as the two kept in contact despite their parents' disapproval. Clara moved to Lagos after graduating from Hogwarts and married Sam. Soon afterward, they had Chi, the first of their two children.
• When Mom's parents became ill and unable to live alone, Chi's mom convinced (read: begged) her husband to move back to her hometown. It took a lot of moving through red tape, but eventually, they settled in London. Chi and her sibling weren't too thrilled about the move. Though they enjoyed their vacations with their grandparents, they didn't necessarily want to live with them 24/7 due to their rigid personalities.
• Sam made connections and friendships thanks to his position in the ministry, while their mother ensured their children were integrated well into society, regardless of blood status. They visited muggle destinations around the city as often as they visited magical ones. Their house also held the latest technology and magical inventions.
• Eventually, the time came for Chi to take the first step towards independence by enrolling in Hogwarts. Her mother and her family were generational Ravenclaws, so there was some expectation for her to be sorted into the same house. Her mother was supportive when the sorting hat put her in Hufflepuff, but her grandparents nearly shat a brick. They sent an owl to the Headmistress with demands for another attempt, but they were denied.
• During her school years as a Puff, Chi enjoyed herself immensely. She surrounded herself with fun friends who lived for laughter and chaos. She also ended up in a pretty serious relationship with Jeff (a half-blood) before the end of her first year. She experienced her share of detentions and moments of glory by securing many house points. People might not love her, but she was generally well-liked. In her fourth year, Jeff proposed to her despite their rough patch, thanks to jealous people spreading rumors about her cheating.
• In her fifth year, when the world started to catch fire, her younger sister started to attend Hogwarts. Unlike her, Chiasoka was sorted into Ravenclaw. The differences between the siblings became more apparent without the supervision of their parents. Chiasoka revealed herself to be as hateful as their grandparents. Chi often had to step between her sister and those on the opposite end of her wand.
• When Voldemort and his goons took control, Chi expected her parents to take a stand against him. Like the Weasleys. Her mother and father dragged their heels as long as possible, trying to stay neutral. But when the time came to pick a side, they chose safety. Chi was instructed to cut contact with her friends and boyfriend because her parents intended to turn in any runaways.
• Jeff sent her a secret correspondence and basically begged Chi to leave home and go on the run with him. She sent nothing back except his engagement ring. He was captured and imprisoned in Azkaban shortly afterward.
• Even though life returned to normal, Chi was resistant when her parents mentioned returning to Hogwarts. Her friendship groups were pretty much shattered, and she rather not spend her time in what was likely going to be a gloomy space. No amount of screaming or fighting could convince her parents otherwise, as they viewed missing school as an admission of guilt.
