The Concept

The game centers around a group of street racers, or rather amateur street racers trying to make names for themselves in Tampa, Florida. It's going to start off simple to make sure that the ball gets rolling and that everyone has a chance to get invested into the game, and when it's time it'll evolve as it needs to. The group of 6 or 8 friends (depending on how much interest this garners) have all known each other for at least 6 months, some of them much longer than that, and they've decided to all chip in and rent a house on the edge of the city so that they can all live and train together. The surrounding area has pretty good roads to practice on, police presence is minimal compared to deeper within the city, and the house has a garage for them to repair and upgrade their rides.

All of the player characters are amateurs, they have to work day jobs in order to support themselves and their racing hobby. At the beginning of the game, even if they're making a bit of money off of racing from time to time, the cost of maintaining their car actually outweighs anything they're making, so they're actually spending money to compete. That means that none of them are insanely skilled prodigies or former F1 racers or anything along those lines. Nobody is going to have a car worth more than 20 grand at the beginning, no exceptions.

The Racing

The game is about the racers more than the racing itself, so don't feel intimidated if you're not a huge car or racing fanatic. Races will generally fly by pretty quickly, anywhere within 1 to 3 rounds of posting from everyone involved and the GMs. They're meant to be catalysts for the development and interaction of our characters, not the focus of the game as far as spending a tremendous amount of time playing them out is concerned. Outcomes will be decided by a mix of several factors including each driver's condition at the time of each particular race, their strengths and weaknesses, the level of their competition, random luck and possibly some other factors that nobody really needs to worry about except the GMs. Everyone is also free to give input on at any time if they'd like to see something in particular happen and we'll do our best to make it happen as long as it fits. As for the technical side of it, we'll be relying mostly on common sense, so absolute accuracy is neither expected nor required.

The Cars

Again, don't panic if you can't think of a car that you'd like to use, Veluux and I can provide you with options if you need them. The game is set in the present, i.e. 2013, but most of the cars that we start with will likely be from the 90s or early 2000s given the sub-20k budget. Don't bother spending too much time planning every single detail about your car either, because there's a good chance that shit will happen and that you won't be keeping the same one the entire time.

The Characters

Please PM your sheets to myself and Veluux, we'll look them over and let you know to post them in the thread if and when you get accepted. Naturally, if you have any questions or need help with anything, you're more than welcome to PM us about that as well.

Edit:

Expected Posting Rate

Forgot to add this in initially, but it's a pretty important detail since not everyone posts at the same rate. Players will be expected to post a minimum of once every 3 and a half days. Try to respect the usual etiquette of not skipping over people whenever possible. If you feel like somebody else is holding you up, PM them and myself/Veluux and we'll get it sorted out. If you're in a one on one or small group situation, away from the main group, you and the other players that you're with can post back and forth more quickly if you want, as long as everyone is on the same page.

If for whatever reason you need longer than 3.5 days to post, it's fine, just send us (the GMs) a PM and we'll either temporarily control your character or find a way to keep them out of the way until you can post. Same goes for if you go on vacation or anything like that. If you warn us ahead of time, there's never going to be a problem and we'll do everything that we can to keep you in the game.

If you fail to meet the minimum requirement, you'll get one warning, and then the second time we're going to have to cut you. Most games die because one or several people stop posting and everyone ends up waiting for them, so it's nothing personal, we just want to avoid that at all costs. Please, seriously consider whether or not you'll be able to meet these expectations before submitting your application.

Obviously, we're going to use common sense too. If you post after 3 days and 16 hours, you're not going to receive a warning, lol. Or if it was 4 days and it only happened once in a blue moon, etc., we're not trying to be dicks or anything.

#1
Star Freyman

Age: 21
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 113 lbs.
Hair: Cotton candy pink with bright orange and platinum highlights (naturally blond), around 5 inches past shoulder length
Eyes: Brown

Current Occupation: Works at an ice cream parlor

Hobbies outside of racing: Going to the beach, watching movies, playing volleyball, video games, pool, poker

Appearance/Style: Star's fashion sense isn't particularly refined, so her outfits have a tendency to look a little trashy, sometimes maybe more than a little. She's got several tattoos, her most obvious one being the string of multicolored stars that starts from the front of her right shoulder, goes diagonally across her back and then wraps around her side, finishing at her left hip. She's also got a big ribbon on the back of either one of her thighs, a bundle of fireworks on the outside of her right thigh, naughty things (gun, grenade, knife) on her left upper back and nice things (angel wings, heart, flower and another ribbon) on her lower right back.

Personality: Star can definitely be a handful to deal with. She's very emotional, impulsive, and her fuse is often quite short. She's very opinionated and stubborn, and it's one hell of an accomplishment to ever make her admit that she's wrong. Filtering herself is not something that Star does very well, so if there's something on her mind, she'll almost always say it first and consider the consequences second. Also in the same vein, her actions are primarily governed by her emotions, so she's not the person to see about making calm, rational decisions. Star is also very competitive and abhors losing, and she's not always the most gracious in defeat.

On the other hand, for anyone who can look past her considerable flaws, she's also an extremely kind, caring and generous person who'll do anything for a friend. As far as she's concerned, they're her family. And as long as she's in a good mood, she's very lively, excitable and loves to have fun and crack jokes, so she can be a joy to be around as much as she can be a pain.

History: Star. Her mother was probably high when she decided to name her. The woman had either been high or trying to get high the entire time that Star had known her, so it wasn't a very big stretch to think so. Her father had left before she was born. At least she had her brother Chase, who was three years older than her. He'd always looked after her as her best friend and almost even a father figure. As they grew older and their mother went even further off the rails, Chase even dropped out of high school so that he could work two jobs and keep the lights on and food on the table.

That would have given Star the chance to graduate had she not fallen in with the wrong crowd and started to go down the same dark path as her mom. She dropped out of school without ever telling her brother and lied and pretended that she was still going while he worked his ass off for nothing. Less than a year before she would have been supposed to graduate, Chase decided to enlist in the army so that he could maybe save enough money to help her pay for college, and after four years of service the military would pay for his college as well.

Star begged him not to go, feeling horribly guilty about what she'd done...but she still couldn't bring herself to tell him. She carried on the lie even after he left, even when they spoke on the phone, telling him that her graduation had gone fine, that she was working to save money and looking into potential colleges. Little did she know that she'd never get the chance to come clean and that the next time she saw Chase, he'd be lying lifelessly inside of a coffin.

It broke her world and greatly accelerated her downwards spiral towards rock bottom, which was where Jason would find her when he returned home and tried to get in touch with her, since she was the closest tie left to his best friend. Star was living with some guy in a trailer park. He was a drug dealer, pretty much the lowest of the low, and he smoked and snorted more product than he actually sold, but he shared it with her and he had a roof for her to sleep under, so she slept with him as long as he could give her those two things.

Thankfully, Jason had her cell phone number and called first, so when they met up, Star was sober and able to pretend like everything was fine, practically slipping back into the same lie that she felt so horrible about a second time without even thinking. They kept in touch loosely, and she kept up appearances with him...until she came knocking on his door in the middle of the night a few weeks later with a black eye and blood pouring from her nose and a broken lip.

Star had to come clean, and after having realized that night just how badly she needed to stop what she was doing, she begged Jason to help her fix herself.

Current Situation: She's doing much better after having spent the last six months living with Jason. Star knew that he'd been getting into racing ever since he came back from the military, and because she wanted to feel like she was keeping a small part of her brother's legacy alive, she told him that she wanted to do it too. He helped Star get the project truck that Chase had been working on before leaving into drivable shape, and after she'd gotten some experience behind the wheel and some spare cash from working at her new job, they tacked on a few upgrades.

As they both got more and more into it, Star was unsatisfied with the rate at which they were improving, so she made the suggestion of renting a house together with all of the other amateur racers that they knew so that they could live and breathe it every day and accelerate the process. With his help and input from the others, the plan took shape and now they're ready to work their way up to the top of Tampa's extremely competitive underground racing scene.

Car: Rat rod style 2001 Chevrolet S-10

Naomi Silver

Age: 25
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 125 lbs
Hair: Blonde, Long, Wavy
Eyes: Baby/Sky Blue

Current Occupation: Dress Shop Clerk

Hobbies outside of racing: Designing Dresses, Swimming, Riding Motorcycles, Dancing, Video games.

Appearance/Style: Casual Dresser, Loves wearing High heels and light make up. Special Attire depending on the situations she's in, and of course Leathers when she rides/Races.

Personality: She is quiet around people she doesn't know, however always tries her best to have manners, be polite and friendly with everyone. Although she can be very chatty and a little scatter brained when she gets on a rolling rant, especially when it comes to Bikes and Clothing. She comes off as being quite docile but when she's not concerned and self conscious  about herself, she can be quite focused and determined in whatever she does.

History: Naomi Silver had always had a spark for clothing and art, ever since she was a girl. Growing up and reality kicking her in the ass at each turn, she realized life wasn't as simple as television or movies seemed to dictate. Not having a lot of money and lucky enough to score a job as a store clerk she had purchased a small motorcycle to get her around, cheap and fairly cost effective she came to love riding a motorcycle.
But even that idea seemed to be short lived, as Naomi months later discovered that there are great dangers in being a motorcyclist. Narrowly escaping death in a car accident she had decided it was time for a car, of course she hadn't a lot of money. Selling her bike she took out a loan from the bank to afford anything she could get, however since she was in for a penny when it came to a loan she thought "why not go all out". Deciding to purchase a nice small sporty car, a 2002 Mazda Rx - 8. She wasn't accustomed to racing, spending her weekday night practising high speeds and various types of cornering. So much so she feels she could be a good racer, being swept up in the speed and the excitement. Deciding she wants to race, goes out and finds a way...

Current Situation: Naomi is looking for ways she can prove she's ready to race BY racing, any money involved would simply be a onus to paying off her debt.

Car: Mazda RX - 8 2002, Silver.

Juliana 'Jules' Dang

Age: 23
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 118 lbs.
Hair: Naturally black hair, often dyed. Currently a brunette.
Eyes: Chestnut brown

Current Occupation: Bank Teller
Hobbies outside of racing: EDM, raving, eating, sleeping, jogging, bicycling, driving and an oddly new development for her, banking

Appearance/Style: Juliana's attire can be called modern but ultimately casual. Tanks, light tops, shorts and sneakers dominate her wardrobe, with a small part of it dedicated to her work attire, which she'll rip off of herself almost as soon as she's done work.

Her hair is something of a pride piece. She'd never work on her car the same day as an important date or during the week so that she can be perfectly presentable publicly.

Personality: A sweetheart is putting it simply for Juliana. Time spent on negative emotions is time wasted for her; she'll often just walk away from situations that are getting her down if it is at all possible. Her core group of friends have shaped her into the person she is in that they have always been around for her and she has promised herself that she will do the same, giving her a very 'give-and-give' mentality to life. She has no real dreams of big houses, families and lawns, instead loving the idea of being surrounded by the friends she has.

That's how she is with those in the house, though. Almost as if there's a switch, Juliana can be rather cold toward people she doesn't know or care to know. At work she's rather blunt in order to get through her day to go home to her friends and car. Another aspect of Juliana that can bring out the bad side of her personality is when she or those she loves feels threatened. Anywhere, though especially races, where trash talk and empty threats are tossed around, Jules can get quite catty.

History: [Not real writing, mostly brainstorming between the three of us! Well, mostly me. Screw you kids.

Much like the first incarnation of Fast and Furious, I imagine Juliana has known at least one person from the very beginning. How deeply that history is can vary, though I would like it to be fairly close. Anywhere from a one-and-only confidant to previous-amicable-relationship that became a better friendship to whateverthefuck. Doesn't necessarily have to be one of you two, but I want to feel somewhat more important than the other kids. :P (You totally don't have to indulge me if you guys got something more significant and deep going on elsewhere!) Other than that...]

Juliana grew up in Tampa, being raised by a young, single father thanks to an equally young, naive and hopefully now miserable mother. Her father was always full of love and praise for her little girl, giving everything he could to her up until she was ready to go out on her own. Still being fairly young, her father took the opportunity to work abroad, keeping in contact with his only daughter through letters, simply because it's more fun. [Yadda yadda yadda, kinda hard to write about with less than half the details. I figure her daddy issues can come out in the RP if it's even remotely important for some reason.]

Current Situation: [Somehow snagged a full-time, entry level job at The Bank of America. Has no real ambition to move up given that she's comfortable where she is. Wants to have raunchy sex with everyone in the house at least once.]

Car: A Black, 1998 Acura Integra GSR Coupe. Purchased a few years ago when her father left the country so she could sell the clunker she had at the time. Well maintained with a few perks inside of it.

Blake Riven Richardson

Age: 23 years.
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 110lbs.
Hair: Black.
Eyes: Hazel.

Current Occupation: Waitress/Bartender.

Hobbies outside of racing: Occasional Smoker (You'll never catch her with one at home alone), Video Games, Comics, Go-Karting, Listening to Music, Exercising/Working Out, Photography, Yoga, Swimming, Gymnastics, Eatting out, Occasionally drinking (She doesn't drink alone at home.)

Appearance/Style: Blake's tough-girl exterior certainly shines through with the way she looks in some aspects; her left arm is completely covered in tattoo's that stretch across her chest and down her side and left thigh, stopping just above her knee. She has a few piercings that are obvious to the naked eye like her flesh tunnels, second piercing on her ear and her tragus, along with other piercings that aren't so obvious like her tongue and navel. She likes the idea of looking feminine, so it is obvious that shes female in what she usually wears, but would secretly like to be able to suit things a little more feminine. On her abdomen, just to the right, is a small scar that has been rumored to be the wound of a fight she'd gotten into in her younger teen years, though really its from where she had her appendix removed when she was fifteen.

Personality: Because of her background, Blake likes to put on a 'tough girl' front but it's only to hide her real personality. In reality, she likes girly things and is rather delicate but she would never show this to anyone. She can be quite sensitive to what other people say to or about her, but her facade would not allow her to get emotional in front of anyone. Instead, she would rather start a fight or argue back, even if she didn't think she would be able to win. Although petite, Blake can be stubborn, quite snappy and argumentative to most; her work colleges refer to her as a little firecracker. She finds it hard to make friends most of the time as she can be quite a complex character but once she gets them she's very fierce about sticking up for them. Blake's aggressiveness can be a hindrance to her in most situations as it causes her to be reckless and clouds her judgement. It also causes her to be blunt with her words, without much thought as to what the consequences of them would be. Overall, she's very sceptical of strangers and finds others kindness suspicious but once she befriends someone she's hooked for life.

History: Blake was born in the state of New Jersey, but her family moved down to South Carolina soon after her birth. Her upbringing wasn't the best; her and her 7 siblings had to practically fend for themselves. Between her alcoholic father and drug-addicted, bunny boiler mother, the kids had no chance. If it weren't for the older siblings growing up fast, some of them would have probably starved to death. Her three youngest siblings, a pair of boy twins and a slightly younger girl, was taken off them and fostered out as soon as the girl turned one. It wasn't unusual for them to be beaten occasionally, but the older ones always took the fall for the smaller kids. Blake will always remember the time that her oldest brother jumped in front of her when her father removed his belt to beat her. Her brother put up a good fight and argued with the man for ages but it only resulted in him taking her beating instead. One by one, her older brothers and sisters started moving out as soon as they could and when she was the oldest left, she took their places. Blake was the sixth oldest of the group. Another memory she would never forget is the time she stuck up for her little sister and her father actually ended up breaking a couple of her ribs after she retaliated back, giving him a hard slap. He shoved her so hard against the wall that it took her a while to catch her breath and realize where the pain was coming from. That instant happened when she was twelve and it wasn't the last.

As soon as she was eighteen, Blake moved to Florida to stay with a distant aunt until she could afford to live alone. She procured herself a job and began saving up money for a place to live. On her twentieth birthday, her aunt and uncle brought her a car and although it was beat up and rough, she loved it. Blake realized she loved cars from a young age and when she started driving in school, she loved it even more. It wasn't long before she moved out into her own apartment; it was only small and her bed was in her living room with an open plan kitchenette, the only other room being the old bathroom, but it completed its purpose and that's all she needed.

Current Situation: N/A

Car: A beat-up 1990 Nissan 300zx

Jason Sullivan

Age: 24
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 207
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Light Brown

Current Occupation: Various and frequently changing - like almost monthly, sometimes even weekly. (Former Military, US Marines)

Hobbies outside of racing:
To be completely honest - its mostly been just drinking and fighting lately (he enjoys working with small electronics and playing the electric guitar - but hasn't picked either up in a while.) He is fairly sociable though, so he spends a lot of his off time participating with others in their favorite hobbies. Outside of his knowledge of electronic and computer systems... he doesn't really have any speciality and is sort of a jack of all trades (but not particularly good at any of them).

Appearance/Style:
He usually dresses fairly well. Every morning it's athletic clothes - despite the majority of the military life that's washed away since he got out, he still goes for a run every morning. It helps keep him sane. Days he doesn't get to run he is usually abnormally irritable, though he seldom - if ever takes out his frustrations on others. During the majority of the day he usually wears loose fitting (but not baggy) clothing. It's comfortable and practical and fits his personality. He doesn't usually wear anything totally eye-catching like jewelry, bright colors, or exotic designs - but he doesn't dress totally plain either. Simply put: he dresses to fit the occasion, but not to stand out in it.

Personality:
Generally he's very laid back and easy going. He's a gentle giant, and usually puts everyone else's interests before his own - particularly Star's. Occasionally he gets caught up re-living parts of his traumatic past, which he immediately attempts to silence with alcohol. More often than not, this tactic pays off and he relaxes and just goes with the flow, too intoxicated to notice anything but the present. Every once in a while though it backfires and it leads him into more serious depression or fighting. Those events aren't very common though, and even less common are his PTSD episodes. They get triggered randomly, it could be a word, a phrase, a sound, a sight - anything really that forms a direct link with his war experiences. The most devastating are the flashbacks of losing Chase - often causing him to get lost from reality for an hour or more. The others usually only last a moment, and sometimes go unnoticed by those around him.

History:
Jason grew up with his best friend Chase, whose mom was never really around. They did everything together. They went to school together, they played together, they fought together, they basically figured out life together. Jason didn't really have any close friends besides Chase, because he didn't really need any. The two didn't spend every moment together, but the times that they did were always meaningful and memorable.
After graduating high-school they both went immediately into the work-force, as Chase struggled to provide for his broken family. Jason tried to help out when he could, but eventually Chase determined that he was going to join the Marines. He'd send his money home to his sister, since everything else would be provided for him - and he'd eventually get to go to college someday. Jason was sharp when it came to electronics - just naturally gifted at figuring them out - but he didn't have the drive to both work and go to school full-time. So naturally joining the Marines with Chase sounded like the perfect plan to pursue his dream.
Both the young men were in the same unit together and deployed overseas to conflicts in the middle east multiple times during their four-year stint. On their last deployment, however, Chase didn't survive. Jason harbored much guilt and unwarranted responsibility for the death of his best friend. The traumatic experience also caused him to suffer from acute PTSD. He managed to finish his enlistment with an honorable discharge; but he never took advantage of the benefits it provided with the GI Bill for college. Instead he took on dead-end jobs, usually getting fired after several months - either from suffering a flashback or just slipping back into drinking or fighting that led to DUI's, long-hospital stays, and other events that caused him to simply miss too many work days to be worth keeping around.
He was such a kind and caring guy, that his bosses were always reluctant to let him go - but had to make business decisions. Jason never took it personally. He always felt he deserved to be fired, he didn't feel like he deserved a good life anymore. In fact, he felt like he shouldn't even be alive. He always felt like Chase had taken the fall for him so many times, even ultimately with his life. When he's sober Jason usually commits all of his time to looking after Star, Chase's younger sister. He feels responsible for her, to be the big brother for her that Chase could no longer be. He wasn't controlling or annoying, but he obviously over-commits to her. Everybody knows it, but is too afraid to bring it up - it's beyond their realm of influence.
Aside from that, Jason also has taken up underground street racing. Chase was obsessed with it, and although Jason had tried it in the past with him when they were younger - they never could afford to be competitive.
Jason is a talented driver, but usually never participates out of his own joy. Mostly he does it in remembrance of Chase, and also to be more like him. Jason has seemed to lose his sense of self and appears to be wasting his life living another person's dreams instead of his own. It's begun to cause conflicts at times, and tension between himself and those around him... Honestly, others haven't brought it up yet because they feel pity for him, or they're afraid he might totally lose it and snap on them. Not that he'd ever intentionally harm any of them. Its the occasional acute flashbacks that cause him to temporarily lose his sense of reality and harm objects - and sometimes people - unintentionally. So far he's never hurt anyone close to him - and they still feel mostly safe when they're around him. Part of the reason for that is because he also very protective, and all of his close friends know his heart and how much he's willing to give up for them.

Current Situation:
During the last six months Jason has taken Star in under his wing - being the older brother that he feels he was responsible for her having lost. They lived together in a small apartment as friends and almost siblings, most of their hobbies and interests were different besides racing - which they shared because of Chase. That has been one way in which the two have gotten to connect a little and put aside the guilt from the past (or cover it up anyway). They enjoy talking about cars together and working on them together - when their schedules allow it.
Recently Jason and Star have started to get pretty serious about racing and have decided to pursue it with their close friends as a team. The whole group has agreed to rent a big house together and work their way to the top - even if it comes slowly at first. Everyone is chipping in for the rent on the house so they can utilize most of their funds for their hobbies - predominantly racing cars. The group is very close knit, almost more of a big family than anything else. They work together on the track, of course with some friendly competition among themselves.

Car: 1999 Subaru WRX STI

Aside from the driver-seat being on the right side of the car - its pretty much a sleeper. He's spent most of his cash upgrading the electronic and computer systems (what he's most familiar with working on - and what he's the most talented at). It has several major components that are no longer stock - but it's still got a very long way to go. Jason ended up buying it from a friend he made while stationed at Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan with the 1st Air Wing. The guy had just upgraded to a new Skyline and sold it to Jason for much less than it was worth (since he'd done a couple of mods himself already). He almost paid as much to ship it to the states as he did for the car, he only uses it for racing or emergencies - and drives a trashed 81 Kawasaki motorcycle for work and saving gas.

Adriano Guillermo

Age: 27
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190lbs
Hair: Short, dark brown
Eyes: Moderate shade of green

Current Occupation: Builder/Carpenter for a construction company.

Hobbies outside of racing: Singing, Carving.

Appearance/Style: Well-built, both from his exercises and the labors of his day job. He likes to be fit, knowing how important health is, though he is not quite on the verge of being a health freak. He is just over 6 foot tall, and usually has a friendly smile on his face. He tends to wear T-shirts and jeans most of the time, donning his leather jacket from Italy when it gets cold, or his button-up shirts and ties when he needs to be formal, which is rarely ever.

Personality: As an Italian, he is very passionate about the things he likes and the things he dislikes. Unfortunately, his job has fallen in the middle of either extreme, which was why he turned to racing. He has a voice that isn't too low but is still rich, as evidenced by the hearty laugh that is not hard to hear when around him. He loves jokes and laughing. He isn't very good at being serious, though, and struggles with tough decisions. When he gets angry, he tends to get quite angry indeed.

History: His family immigrated to the United States from Italy. You would think he would've taken after his father and made pizzas or something, but instead he decided to be a builder/carpenter, which he found that he was particularly skilled at. He had been passionate about the job at first, but then the monotony had set in. Racing had become his newest obsession. It was just so... exciting. It was competitive, every race was different, and there was the danger element. But, he wasn't good enough or rich enough to drop being a builder or a carpenter, so he kept on with his current job with the company he was working for. Luckily there was still enough construction going around that he still had a job, or else he would have had to drop racing altogether.

Current Situation: Working most of the time, racing when he can.

Car: 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300SL

Clint Shaw

Age: 27
Height: 6'0
Weight: 175lbs
Hair: Long (currently) an Brown
Eyes: Hazel

Current Occupation: Collusion Repair Specialist (Not formerly trained), Painter, "Gambling Cowboy"

Hobbies outside of racing: Football, gambling, drinking, shooting, grilling and fucking

Appearance/Style:  Clint is not the "trendiest" of dressers and is rather "simple" in his taste. Jeans, boots (cowboy) and cowboy shirts or a T-shirt. He has not worn a suit since his parents forced him to go to church when he was a teenager. People have poked fun at his over sized belt buckle but he takes it in stride, more so when he reveals the back has a bottle opener which makes it easier to pop open some beers and start the good times. He talks with a Texan draw and shows proper manners (attributed to his mother). It rare to see him without a cowboy hat, some traditions don't die.

Personality:  Clint works hard and likes to relax hard. When it is time to work he is an efficient machine with a work ethic and discipline not seen in men his age. When work is over he loves a good beer, meal and a football game. He does not like the club scene but does enjoy hitting up a local dive bar for a round of pool (Where he can hustle his fair share of good players) or a local gambling hall or casino. Clint is a "goes with the flow" type guy and is not quick to anger and get crazy but can deliver a mean punch if pushed to far. If there is a rodeo in town you better believe you will find Clint there. Clint does carry a fire arm on him but he has never been forced to draw it on anyone.

History:  Clint always imaged a life outside of Bonney Texas. His father ran the local car shop/gas station, his mother taught at the local elementary school and he was the town football hero. It was the type of town where everyone knew everyone else's business and the only child could not wait to get away. Clint was born carrying a football (or so his father claimed) and played most his life. His teenage life consisted of girls, football and working under his father at their shop. Unfortunately Clint was never much for mechanic work, like math (another failed subject) he understood the basics but excelled in another aspect of car work, body repair and paint. His family encouraged him to pursue both football and auto body repair, unfortunately after an injury in his senior year his hopes of a life in the NFL came to an end.

With his one escape out of Bonney cut short he turned to collusion repair and packed up his truck and left to make his own way after Highschool. Clint ended up in Florida working at a small repair shop as the collusion repair specialist and painter. Despite is lack of formal training, his work was quickly noticed and offers from bigger shops paying more started to come in. A few years of living in Florida introduced him to many things the small town "cowboy" knew little about, the most influential being street racing. Many people gave him shit about driving his truck to late night car shows and races but those who hired him to paint and install their (body) kits always spread the word on his expertise.

In time he got the money for a Nissan 240sx and started to race it, mostly losing until he swapped out an engine and had a few modifications done to the car, the most expensive one to date being a Sr20det engine which pushed the car up to 210hp, 255 once full tuned.

He heard Tampa was a good scene and decided to move out that way. Clint lived in his truck a few weeks while he worked at a new shop, until he met (someone here) and learned they needed a roommate. Clint moved in, met them and made new friends.

Current Situation: [You don't really need to fill this in yet until after we've worked out the character histories together. Just a sentence or two if you want.

Car: 95 Nissan 240sx with Sr20det engine and s15 body kit, fully tuned at 255 hp

Marcellus Smith

Age: 26
Height: 5'9
Weight: 170lbs
Hair:  Short and Black, unkempt most of the time
Eyes: Black

Current Occupation: Student, works part time at a gym and overnight at a warehouse.

Hobbies outside of racing: MMA, working on his car at his uncle's shop

Appearance/Style: Marcellus prefers simple clothing. He is most often seen in black or white, tight fitting t-shirts and jeans or shorts depending on the weather.

Personality: Marcellus is a fun loving, grab-life-by-the-balls kind of guy. Confident and flirtatious, he wants to live every moment in life to the fullest regardless of what it is. His love for sexy women fast cars and talking shit pointed him directly to the street racing lifestyle. The only thing that comes close to his love for racing is his love for drinking afterwards.

History: Marcellus was born and raised in Miami Florida. When his family realized that he had a interest in cars, they sent Marcellus to spend time with his Uncle, working at his shop in Tampa. Marcellus quickly became interested in the Street Racing lifestyle as an alternate to the gang lifestyle that many of the youth he grew up with were involved with.

Current Situation: Marcellus has a very busy schedule as he tries to balance school, work, and his racing lifestyle. Ultimately, he would like to make enough money on the street to give up at least one of his jobs.

Race finishes are mostly going to be determined by dice rolls with bonuses and/or penalties being applied for various factors (condition of the driver, condition of their car, strengths and weaknesses depending on the type of race or circuit, etc.). If for some reason we feel the need to influence the outcome in some particular way, then we reserve the right to do that, but we'll be transparent with all of the rolling and decisions in the OOC. Nobody other than Veluux and I need to worry about keeping track of any of that stuff, and we'll make sure that everyone has highs and lows and moments in between.

As I touched on a bit in the first post, though, the point of the game is to develop our characters and have fun, not to win as many races as possible, so nobody should feel concerned about that.

Strifesblaze7

Well it was more out of curiosity really, I have never played anything dice based.

Strifesblaze7

Oh I wasn't about to run away or anything. I just felt the need to ask, I will see if I can get a sheet, though my muse has been, rather whiny about that lately.

Just to be clear, none of the players need to do any dice rolling or worry about anything related to it. Vel and I will be completely handling it and only sharing the results with the players for the sake of transparency and nothing else, so as far as anyone else is concerned it's a freeform game with GMs deciding the outcomes of the races.

Strifesblaze7

Hmm, that interests me a bit more.

Well, considering the forum that we're on (and that we're not in any of the non-adult sections)...of course it's allowed! This seems like the last place you'd want to post a game where it was prohibited, lol.

Strifesblaze7

True but I wanted to check, some games don't want to focus on it and that, lol. Oh, um, have a city idea?

This sounds fun. Does our occupation have to be entirely legit? I'm thinking on playing a guy in construction that runs parties at his lake house where he charges guys a $5 cover and girls 10% of anything they make while stripping. The cops don't bother him about it because he pulls their boat keys if they get too drunk and of course, he keeps the drunks out of the water even if they don't have boats.

Oh hi Strifesblaze!

No, it doesn't have to be completely legit, so that would be fine. A character's current job just needs to be enough for them to be able to pay their part of the rent on the house (should be pretty small since it's split so many ways), but not so much that they'd be particularly wealthy or have significant savings banked. Most of their spare cash probably goes towards their car, and that can't be worth more than 20k including aftermarket mods and whatnot, so it all makes sense.

And the part about the rent only applies for the very beginning of the game. If one or several characters lose their jobs before they start making enough money from racing or if they run into some other kind of financial difficulty, that's perfectly fine and probably even bound to happen. The group is supposed to be close, and living together will bring them even closer, so I'm sure they'll help each other out if need be. Nobody is gonna get kicked out for being late on rent. :P

Alright cool, I don't post on Sunday or Monday (before about 5pm CST). Sundays are family/no internet/laundry day. Mondays are Medical/Grocery day (which actually works out great because my character goes to his lakehouse ono the weekends, so to have a non-posting period fall that close to the actual weekend... ;D ).

Just make sure that you can keep up with the requirements before deciding to commit. In-game days won't line up with real life days, so I'm not entirely sure what you meant about it working out great. O.o

steelsmiter

it's not especially important. Anyway, I kind of guessed (wrongly?) that racing probably wasn't gonna happen every In Game day... I figured "days skipped" would be when the character would go to his lake house so as not to hinder the actual playing of the game.

And anyway, I'm talking about two days IRL. I'm assuming what you said about not being exact, etc still stands?

Alright, this has actually made me realize that the characters pretty much all need to have (roughly) 9 to 5 type of jobs so that we can 'time-skip' over only that part of the day on weekdays and have them all be free simultaneously the rest of the time. It just won't be possible to have everyone working at all sorts of different hours. So yeah, that kind of limits your options, unfortunately, but it's a limitation of the medium that we're using and we have to play around it. Sorry. :(

steelsmiter

you read the post backwards I'm talking about NOT posting for 2 days, leaving 5 open.
