What I want this time is fairly simple: Dark Heresy, but lasting beyond character creation. Yeah, I'd like the game to actually run for a little while. Every previous time, either the DM vanished or too many players did (yes, including me, once).

The particular setting doesn't worry me - a Space Hulk, a warzone, a hive world, travelling a lot, a cathedral planet... whatever. Likewise I don't mind whether we're newly created characters or experienced veterans or whatever. I prefer girls to the point of not being attracted to guys, so I'd prefer sexual encounters to be primarily of a female nature, but they can be as violent (rape or bondage) as GrimDark usually contains - and that being said, I'm happy for sex to take a back seat in this, just being the occasional between-mission thing.

Or you could have us investigate a group of Slaaneshi deviants, whichever works.

So there are a great many variables there. All it needs is a willing GM.

I could be willing to try GMing again. We never did get that far with the intro scenario, so running it again wouldn't be a problem.

Someone on suptg, who is a member here, expressed interest, so that's hopefully a second.

Current ideas:
*noble-born scum of the House Esher kind ("Daddy didn't buy me a new aircraft one week, so I threw a hissy fit and left home to join a criminal gang, with nothing but a thousand thrones and a personal militia (now dead)"). Owns a really nice, modded-up auto-gun complete with lho-stick lighter (looks like an Exterminator cartridge).

*Imperial-world born guardsman by the name of Sgt. Jubblowski. Yes, it's good old Jubblowski!

*A Sister of Battle, very well-read on lores and laws.

I have the Inquisitors Handbook, so those wouldn't be a problem. A SoB might, simply by nature of their puritan stance. If anyone else is tending towards radical behaviour, they'll be getting a bolter round to the back of the head.

Still, we shall see what other ideas are put forwards.

I wouldn't mind a SoB character or maybe an Imperial Assassin to work with the other Sister if that is the route everyone is going.

Well, SoB was just one proposed character, so you don't have to tie something to that.

Hi - this sounds interesting, if you don't mind someone who's new to the site joining up.

I've wanted to play DH for a while now - I'd be interested in playing a Scum character, but, hey, whatever makes for a good group. :)

(If someone did play a SoB, a scum girl with a crush on a SoB sounds like fun...)

Here's the game thread from the last one we tried to run

https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=15266.0

If I play the intro scenario again, that'll be it. I'm ok with showing this, as we didn't get that far into it. One option would be to go on from that point, having said that the new PCs have effectively done the same as the old.

Naturally, if someone has read the intro scenario, they'll know what's going on, so if you have, say so now.

I have Purge the Unclean as well, and can run the scenarios from that, assuming people haven't read / played those.

I haven't read any of the published scenarios - precisely because you never know when a GM is going to run one - so I'm fine with whatever.

Chaos: I do like the idea of a scum girl having a crush on a SoB. I can even see the Battle Sister becoming protective of her... as well as seeing to disciplinary matters.

Yeah, why not? I enjoy the lore and stories surrounding them, and that'll allow for Chaos to play the scum girl with a crush. So, Asku, were you thinking of being a Battle Sister as well, possibly from the same order, or going with the Assassin?

Either way, we should probably make sure we have a variety of skills between us.

I think the assassin would be best.  Someone sent to work with the SoB, but who has a different outlook on their job maybe.  Plus I'd have to go buy the Inquistor book and read up on SoBs, whereas I have the DH main book already.

HairyHeretic

Ok, so that's a Sister, a Scum and an Assassin. I'd ideally want 1 or 2 more to get started with.

I barely know him. However, he is on E (I don't know what user name), and we briefly spoke over the sup/tg/ chat - he commented on how he'd like to join a DH game on E.

Also: yaaay! Note how I intend to play Sister Verdania as less of a psychopath than usual - while still making her very religious to the point of it causing possible trouble. But she'll be harder on herself than on other party members and ordinary people (and harder still on the actual heathen).

So, here's my attempt at a character - my first one for Dark Heresy, so tell me if I've missed anything obvious or made any errors, please!

Also, I don't know the proper way to do Wounds, Fate Points and so on - so I just went ahead and rolled dice for those, but if there's another way of doing it I should use, I can easily go back and fix those. Given the random monthly pay for Scum, I also just picked a not too long list of stuff I wanted Magda to have - it's about 85 Thrones worth,  I think.

Name: Magda

Just putting in a signal of interest in this. Ill have to pick up the book (i was planing on it anyway) and have a read, just I like the whole background to warhammer 40k. Never really like the actual game, and the models were expensive, just a friend collected them, so I got to read all the info ext. Like the dark, brooding themes.

Of course, this is all assuming I get accepted. Which hopefully shouldt be too long :)

HairyHeretic

Well, if you do get accepted we have room for you. Not having the book isn't that big of a drawback, as I can help with character creation there.

Chaos, I'll give your sheet an eyeball later. We didn't use the standard character creation rules though, were you aware of that?

Ok great :D

I like the idea of the Sisters of Battle, but is 2 too many for a single game? Is there a scholar or something like that? Im less interested in playing a combat heavy character than I am interested in the actual game.

Chaos

HairyHeretic, I used what was kongming mentioned - 1500 xp instead of 400, 120 points for stats instead of rolling, and 2 months pay for equipment (though as mentioned I kinda fudged that last one). Is there anything else different?

Sorry, I should have mentioned in my post that that was how I was doing the character gen.

kongming

Temptress:
There are quite a few career choices focused around things other than combat - there is a scholarly type that gets a lot of money and a lot of knowledges, but isn't very good at shooting people in the face (but not completely useless in a fight), the priests also get decent money, many skills and a focus on willpower, intelligence and fellowship, tech-priests also are really good with knowledges and such (and get to add robotic bits to themselves). Also, while Sisters of Battle start off as sort of all-rounders, after the third rank (2000 XP or so), they can branch out into "Medic, good with talking to people, fixing wounds, and knowing stuff.", "Scholar, many knowledges and also knows the theory behind kicking daemons to the curb." and "Crazy bitch who shoots people in the face, then stabs them in the face, then sets them on fire. In the face."

So there are plenty of options if you want to go down that path. I'm pretty sure anything you want can fit.

I don't generally put restrictions onto any group I GM for. If I end up with an entire party of combat monsters, I'll try to structure things so that the need for analysis is shuffled to the side (NPCs are useful things :) )

Yep, there are. I'd need to go dig out my books to tell you the best options there, but it is possible. An administratum adept, adeptus mechanicus or perhaps even a psycher could all go a more scholarly route without too much hassle.

No worries.

In terms of starting equipment, I'm not going to get too hung up on things. Given you're members of an organisation that can request anything up a battleship without effort, having guns and gear shouldn't be a problem :)

On the flip side, I am not giving everyone jokaero digital lasers, graviton guns and vortex grenades 'because they're cool.' Common stuff, stuff that's in character, not likely to be a problem. Fancy stuff .. well, lets see if you can convince me.

Mainly just trying to make sure I don't overlap too much with everyone else.  Also, what is the point break down for stats.  I know we have 120 but that rule set isn't in the main book, least not what I can find.

HairyHeretic

Take the basic stats and instead of rolling, add the points on a one for one, up to the maximum for that stat.

So, if your stat was 20+2d10 normally, you start with the 20, and can then add up to 20 more points.

Temptress

Well, after borrowing a friends books, didnt know they had them untill now :),  I like the sound of a fast talking Noble-scum which is kinda an oxymoron i know. Question, is my monthly income 500 for being noble, or table based for being scum. My guess for this might have been at least one of the two monthly paychecks we are getting at the start of this being noble, to represent money tucked away, from the noble life, and the rest being scum based, because the character is no longer noble. Would that be about right?

Pumpkin Seeds

Noble-scum makes me think of Maverick...from that old Western ya know?

Temptress

Can't say ive seen it, how old?

Oh and another question, if Noble gives me Speak Language (low gothic) and so does scum, that means I get a +10 to it right?

And I don't have to spend any xp to get to 'Outlaw' do I? I have all of that 1500 to spend on stuff...

HairyHeretic

I think you might need to reread stuff there. Unless I'm remembering wrong, you can't change career from Noble to Scum, or anything else. What you pick is what you are for the remainder.

Noble is a background (and it states that it overrides your career-based income), so you can be a Noble Scum. They even noted that it's not as crazy as it sounds, but still uncommon - either a high-up toff that ran away from home/got kicked out, trying to survive on the streets with nothing but a mastercrafted autogun, a suit of carapace armour, a team of bodyguards and an Aquila lander (how did they manage?), or alternatively a noble who makes their wealth by being a crime lord or pirate.

I don't know of any rule that says "If background and career both give it, you get +10." I thought it was simply "Tough luck." If there's actually a ruling on that, do let me know :D

But that doesn't really sound right, having an income of 500 constantly, despite having been kicked out of the family.

Oh ok I just assumed that you got a bonus for taking it twice.

Hehe and I read through all of the posts carefully, looking for info and such, and do you think that scum/SoB thing could be a three way?  (Scum/SoB/Scum) Please?  Pretty please?

Chaos

Looks cool to me. Feh, lucky lil rich brat, thinks she knows from tough :P

And since (given you can actually gamble) you'll be taking all my hard-earned, too :(

One point though- if I'm reading it right, you're using Supremely Connected to get Peer (Underworld) - wouldn't that mean that your family is involved in Underworld activities? Cool if that's what you want, but it seems like it makes you less of a black sheep, and more of someone hanging out with the employees...

Might make more sense to take a different Peer group. Or buy Underworld with xp, if you do want it.

Or, y'know, ignore me if you want :) It's not like it's a big deal.

As to the three way, we'll just have to see about that... rich girl. :P

HairyHeretic

You'd be surprised how many families have .. interesting connections.

Of course, they don't come out in polite society. If they did, the person 'responsible' would be cast out, and forced to make their way in an uncaring universe, to show that the family itself is beyond such things.

Shocking.

Simply shocking.

This is what I have so far.  My math may not be 100% as I did this with 2 hours of sleep.  I decided to go with feral in order to play off the SoB's more noble appearance and the social prowess of the other two characters.

Name – Stigga
Origin – Feral
Career – Assassin
Divination – “Thought begets Heresy;Heresy begets Retribution”

Outlook:

-Those that fear cannot act, so it is that the enemies of the Emperor should fear his servants.
-The brush does not question the artist, only obeys to create something greater than itself.
-The line between Murder and Retribution is blurred only by emotion.
-Machinery serves only to trap those inside it if they do not understand what it means to be without.

Appeance:
Skin – Tanned with spiraling tattoos stretching across her body.
Hair – Black, chopped to fall just below her shoulders.
Eyes – Blue

Fate – 2/2

Great :)

Yeah I went peer (Underworld) Because the family made its fortune through a rogue trader charter, so they would have lots of those connections, just that upon making the fortune they tried to distance themselves from it. Serena on the other hand didnt :D

Now all we need is for me to get approved :p How much longer does that take?

Chaos

Heh, yeah, us criminal scum are gonna be doing all the talking I guess :)

I was going to ask, how much are we going to know / decide about our Inquisitor? I'd like to do a bit of backstory writing including how Magda came to work for the Holy Inquisition, but I don't want to tread on any toes... and I don't yet have any particular ideas about an Inquisitor, personally.

That does sound pretty cool.

With Charm 42% our Battle Sister can also talk - however when dealing with unsavouries she takes a penalty and might consider just wasting them instead, so it'd certainly be best for the scum to take over then. Similarly, if we meet up with the Adeptus Arbites (law enforcement), the criminals might not want to start mouthing off.

As for a threeway, well, let's just wait and see. She can certainly dispense discipline to both of you, putting the gangers over her knee.

Though, yeah, it's probably a bad idea to let us talk to the Arbites too much...

Oh, and looking back, I forgot to roll my horoscope. Let's see what I get...

Hmm, 36, "Only in Death Does Duty End." Fair enough.

Right, I got accepted (Yay!) so can we get this started? Anything else we waiting for?

kongming

I can't wait until we begin. Even if we won't be losing 100 Baneblades*, participating in Steel Rehn with the Spess Mehreens for the Eprah!**, or hiding in metal boxes***, it will be fun!

*DoW: Soulstorm. Imperial Guard commander Vance Motherfucking Stubbs somehow manages to lose 100 Baneblades. But he makes up for this by sassing a Spess Mehreen and not standing down to them. He has eighty three testicles.

**DoW: Soulstorm. Blood Raven commander Boraele has some kind of speech impediment. So it's Spess Mehreens, the Empra and Steel Rehn.

Ofcourse. I am more than ready to burn heretics, kill mutants and purge the unclean.

I will post up a character shortly (within a day or so) and see how well it fits. Most likely will be a Cleric, Arbitrator or Psyker. Feel free to suggest which would be best for the campaign.
"What does it matter the duration of the damnation to he who tastes the infinite instant of pleasure!" -[Baudelaire]

HairyHeretic

I'd recommend against the psycher, simply because we have Sororitas about. I can see the introductions going along the lines of

"Hello, I'm am sanctioned pyscher .."
"WITCH!" *BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*CLICK*CLICK*CLICK*

:)

A cleric would probably fit quite nicely, but at the end of the day the choice is entirely yours.

I dunno though, the Witch Hunter codex thing is full of psykers.

HairyHeretic

The Sisters (in fiction at least) tend to be somewhat more puritanical than the =I=. They might tolerate a psycher, but at the first sign of anything even remotely dodgy, its the Emperors Blessing in the back of the head.

In Faith and Fire, they show open hatred for rogue psykers and don't particularly like any psykers:

"And the Astartes? Those mutants (Spess Mehreens) accept these abominations (psykers) into their ranks!"

That being said, the Adeptus Sororitas are on very good terms with Witch Hunter Inquisitors, who tend to be psykers themselves. It's members of the batshit crazy Red Redemption you have to watch out for (although by their standard, "being alive on a cloudy day" is a burnable offence).

It largely depends, I suppose. My Battle Sister would simply ask to set up a key-word system where if it looks like daemonic forces are in control, any of them can say a pre-agreed code word, and then if the psyker replies with the correct answer then they can rest assured that the psyker is in control. An incorrect answer would of course activate a penalty of "exploding in a hail of bolter fire". Somewhat harsher than the penalties for wrong answers in most game shows.

On a related note, can I have the psyker to myself? ;) ((If your busy with the female party members :P))

Oh and try the gaunt's ghosts novels, specifically the saint series, they deal with a bad ass Female saint :3

Hah, it's quite alright. I was trying my best to stress how artificial he still is in some ways. He is still very noble in some ways. And well, Psykers are used to it.

I just can't help but describe characters in great detail, especially their clothing...Cause, well, the name should give it away.

Ciaphas Cain is a great series, written by Alex Stewart (No one say that correction -peers side to side nervously-) under a pin name

HairyHeretic

Cain is Commissar Blackadder, complete with smelly sidekick, and a very entertaining series. Much more light hearted than most 40k fiction. I'm fond of Dan Abnetts stuff as well.

I'd also recommend most of the Horus Heresy series, but the Dark Angels one was (IMO) a waste of space. The first 3 though are very good.

Ok, just a short heads up. Asuming nothing unexpected decides to start humping my leg, I should be able to go through everyones sheets and get us moving in the scenario by tomorrow evening. We can continue to play things out in the prologue thread as well, if you're all enjoying yourselves there, but I hope to dump you all down the mines within 36 hours max :)

I presume everyone is ok with taking stuff already in that thread as read, and just going from where it previously left off?

Yearly Chaos Incursion
by Pat Marstall
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Begin Transmission

Repetition of General Directive 264-A-XCIV

To: Distribution, Sectorium Primus

From: Office of The Grand Inquisitor, Ebineezar Grinchanius

Re: Yearly Chaos Incursion

This purpose of this notice is to remind the forgetful of the annual visitation by the minion of Chaos known to the unworthy as Santa Claus.

+++ The Emperor's Light Banishes the Shadows of Heresy +++

As the diligent will recall, the incursion occurs regularly every 8742 to 8766 terran hours, roughly corresponding to a terran year. This trespass has occurred with disturbing regularity since at least the Horus Heresy, and perhaps longer, as many records were misplaced.

+++ Love and Obey the Emperor +++

The faithful will recognize the target on sight, as his garb and gear mark him immediately as an agent of the abominations.

Santa Claus is a corpulent, bloated creature approximating the human form. It wears a crimson tunic the color of fresh blood, marking him as a possible follower of Khorne. It is bearded, mocking the honorable squats, and its hair is a sallow shade of gray, betraying its unnatural age. Be advised that despite the creatures fearsome name, no claws have been observed, and the former is likely a ruse.

The target has been observed in the company of smaller creatures having the appearance of thin (less than 30 kg, approx.), stunted (1.5 meters) humanoids with pointed ears. Their appearance suggests the involvement of the decadent Eldar, and although that race denies involvement (*reference the Rudolphian Campaign [index 4111-BGE-MMXCII-Primus], specifically the Battle of Yukon Coneliaus IV [ibid., index 6]*), agents are advised to be prepared for their involvement, as the Eldar are known for their deceitful ways.

Santa Claus is conveyed by means of a grav-sled powered by unnatural livestock as detailed below.

The target's vehicle is a grav-sled. It has superfluous runners which are used only on landing and take-off. Despite the appearance, no frozen water is necessary for its operation (another ruse). The vehicle's resemblance to the foul Palanquin of Nurgle should not be discounted, even though the colors continue to be reminiscent of Khorne.

The device is powered by the unholy ministrations of eight or nine quadrupeds. Ordo Malleus scholars have identified these creatures as warped versions of an extinct species of terran mammal known as a Moose (reference 900002-ER-CIV). These beings single-mindedly pull the target's vehicle during its yearly invasion. They are outfitted with belled harnesses which are apparently imbued with the ability of flight. These beasts have been likened to the Fiends of Slaanesh, and such a comparison should not be dismissed too lightly, as the creatures shed a luminous substance as effluent as they move. Inquisitors should take care to avoid exposure.

Perhaps more disturbing is the variable number of the minion-creatures. On occasion, a ninth Moose has been observed, placed before the other Mooses. This creature radiates a sickly reddish glow from its snout, as a psychic beacon to other followers of the Vile Ones. This Chaotic device has allowed the target to navigate despite our best efforts to jam its navigation systems.

+++ Blessed is the Virtue of Blind Faith +++

Santa Claus gains entry to the domiciles of loyal Imperial Citizens (see below) and leaves small Chaos Rewards to tempt the faithful.

Inquisitors are reminded to confiscate and incinerate these items before any lasting damage is done. As a localized temporal distortion field is in effect around the target, these items are secreted in the habitations of the Imperium at exactly 2400 hours in every location defiled by the creature. It is therefore possible to gain entry to the citizens' cretches and remove the items (often cunningly hidden in footwear) before the citizens are aware of the heresy that has been committed upon them.

In other cases, removal of the items after the citizens have discovered them is possible. In such situations, small children are occasionally loath to surrender the items, as the tainting of the juveniles has already begun. Executions of the above are to be handled in the most expedient manner possible.

Often, juveniles that are well within the Emperor's Grace are given small blocks of graphite ore rather than the more tempting gifts visited upon the less faithful. The identity of these individuals are to be recorded, as future recruitment into the Inquisition or Adeptus Terra is possible. [Note: Inquisitors or other agents who do *not* receive the graphite stones should be watched carefully]

Santa Claus enters the domiciles be way of heating ducts and waste vents. The size of the opening is not a factor, as the creature can adjust its mass and displacement by means of psychic manipulation. Mining these openings with frag, krak and other demolitions has proven unsuccessful.

The creature egresses by the same means, after ritually caressing his nostrils. No mucus has ever been recovered.

+++ The Death of Emperor's Enemies is the Only Gift We Can Give +++

Although all previous attempts at the destruction of Santa Claus have failed, Inquisitors are urged to make such an attempt whenever possible.

However, of more importance is the suppression of cultist activity associated with the yearly incursion. The Tainted have been known to erect shrines in their homes in the form of shrubbery adorned with baubles and lights [Note: the shrubbery is often highly inflammable, and offers a discrete method of executing the offending heretics without calling undue attention to the operation]. Other warning signs include: hallucinations involving sugared candies during slumber; excessive singing; references to 'A magical time of year' (note the influence of Tzeentch); the construction of effigies made of snow; and the performance of Slaanishi rituals while underneath plant clippings of the genus _phoradendron flavescens_.

Once again, executions should be handled in an expedient manner.

Try this one :)

This one requires a foreknowlege of US cartoons, specifically Animaniacs. It was inspired by the pre-battle trash-talk for a multibattle pitting three Chaos armies against an alliance of BAs, DAs and SOBs:

Chaos player: "Weakling fools! Chaos has come for your souls!"

Blood Angel player: "Not so, traitors! today you will fall before the righteous fury of the Blood Angels and our loyal battle brothers!"

SOB player: "AND the Battle *Sisters*!"

Cue theme song...

DARK MILLENNIUM

This is the Dark Millennium:
It's as violent as they come!
So sit and watch the fun
We will slaughter everyone!
It's Dark Millennium!

Come meet the battle brothers and the Battle Sisters too-
Chanting hymns and killing things is what we love to do!
Half of us are tainted, mutating into goo
With special rules, except for fools who wear a certain blue

It's Dark Millennium
Full of heretics and scum
So hang on to your gun
Things will never get humdrum
It's Dark Millennium!

There's Ghazghull and his ladz who want ta rool da Yooniverse
The boyz make lots of noise, then Eldrad whacks 'em with a curse!
Sapphon chases Angels who've gone from bad to worse,
And maiden turf's an Eldar berth, but humans got there first!

It's Dark Millennium!
Scraping sumps is good income
We're all under the thumb
Of an Emp'ror who's gone numb,
It's Dark Mil-len-ni-
Life's not worth a penny
(Paul's a porker, ent he?)
Dark Mil-len-ni-um!
Don't roll a 1!

End.

Just found this on 4chan. It could use some revision as something of the rhymes are terrible but it is entertaining nonetheless

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE EMPEROR'S DAY,
    HE FOUGHT ALL ALONE,
IN A FOUR FOOT DEEP TRENCH LINED
    WITH PLASTEEL AND STONE.

    I HAD TRAVELED THE WARP
    WITH PRESENTS ALRIGHT,
    AND TO SEE JUST WHO,
    IN THIS HOLE DID FIGHT.

    I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
    NO COMMISSAR, NO TANKS
    NOT EVEN A TECHPRIEST.

    NO SERGEANTS YELLING ORDERS,
    JUST A GUARDSMAN WATCHING,
    A RIDGE FULL OF XENO
    OF PURE EVIL CHARGING.

    WITH SCARS AND CUTS,
    INJURIES OF ALL KINDS,
    A SOBER THOUGHT,
    CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

    FOR THIS POSITION WAS DOOMED,
    IT WAS GRIM AND DARK,
I FOUND THE LAST STAND OF A SOLDIER,
ONE I COULD SEE so STARK.

    THE SOLDIER STARED UNBLINKING
    SILENT, ALONE,
    HIS LASRIFLE AT THE READY
    PRESSED TO HIS SHOULDER BONE.

    HIS FACE WAS SO CALM,
    THE WORLD IN CALAMITY,
    NOT HOW I PICTURED
    A GUARDSMAN OF HUMANITY.

    WAS THIS THE HERO
    OF WHOM I'D JUST SCRYED?
    LEANING AGAINST THE RUBBLE,
    UNYIELDING, HIS NERVES UNFRIED?

    I REALIZED ALL HUMANS
    THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE GUARDSMEN,
    WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

>>   Anonymous 12/24/08(Wed)01:33 No.3234840

    SOON ROUND THE GALAXY,
    THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
    AND GROWNUPS WOULD HAPPILY PRAISE,
    A BRIGHT EMPEROR'S DAY.

    THEY ALL ENJOYED LIVING
    EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
    BECAUSE OF THE GUARDSMEN,
    LIKE THE ONE STANDING HERE.

    I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
    HOW MANY STOOD ALONE,
ON A COLD EMPEROR'S DAY EVE
ON A PLANET FAR FROM HOME.

    THE VERY THOUGHT,
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
    I DREW MY BURNING SWORD
    AND PREPARED FOR THE FIGHT.

    THE SOLDIER DID TURN
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
    "MY EMPEROR, REST EASY
    THIS DEATH IS MY CHOICE;

    I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
    FOR THIS IS MY DUTY,
    MY LIFE IS MY EMPEROR'S,
FROM YOUR MOUTH I HEAR TRULY."

    THE GUARDSMEN TURNED
    AND FACED THE CHARGE,
    OF IMPENDING DEATH,
    FROM CREATURES SO LARGE.

    I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
    UNTIL THE HILL WAS STILL
    AND THE GUARDSMAN LAY BROKEN
    ON A BLOODY RED HILL.

    I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
    ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
    THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
    SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

    THEN THE SOLDIER COUGHED ALOUD,
WITH A VOICE STRONG AND TRUE,
    CRYING, "AVE IMPERATOR,
IT'S EMPEROR'S DAY, THIS WORLD IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK BACK AT THE FALLEN,
    AND THE VICTORY HE'D WON.
    "HAPPY EMPEROR'S DAY MY GUARDSMAN,
    REST IN PEACE, MY SON."

Eleven mortars pinning
Ten drop pods raining

HairyHeretic

Once upon a battlefield dreary, where I cowered, spent and blearly,
Within an Imperial bunker, darkly stained with dust and gore -
As I cowered, nearly shuttering, suddenly there came a sputtering
As some weapon quickly stuttering - firing at my bunker door.
"`Tis some bolter", I murmmered, "firing at my bunker door -
Only this and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December,
And the brightly burning bastions lit the horizion by the score.
Eagerly, on freedom drunker; - vainly had I sought to hunker
In this heavy Imperial bunker - with perhaps a tunnel in the floor -
A safe and empty fortress with perhaps a tiny tunnel in the floor -
Only this and nothing more.

And the mad raving howling of each distant Space Wolf prowling
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before.
So that now, to the beating of my heart, I stood entreating
"`Tis some Space Wolf there repeating, firing at my bunker door -
Some common Grey Hunter rapid-firing at my bunker door -
This it is and nothing more."

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer
"Marine," said I, "or Scout, your attention I implore;
The bunker walls are thick - they are made of tempered brick
And your bolters do not nick the slightest scratch or tiny score -
Not a dimple, dent, depression, dip, scratch or tiny score -
Away now, and fire no more."

Then in the bunker slumping, presently I heard a thumping
A pounding - rattling many times fiercer than before.
And soon I began to screech - the bunker wall grenades did breach;
The very gods I did beseech as the ceiling fell upon the floor -
Through the wounds poured light which danced upon the floor -
Danced amidst the sounds of war.

Then at once it stopped the violence - I was left alone with silence
Confused, I spied the reason why the shells did drop no more -
For as I began to shutter, then with many a flit and flutter
a psyber-Raven flew through the clutter to perch above the door -
Perched on the two-headed eagle just above the bunker door -
Perched and sat and nothing more.

At this I grew more craven, for the talons of the psyber-Raven
Were all over covered with bright red blood and crimson gore.
"Wretch!" I cried, "Njal hath lent thee - into this fortress has he sent thee
So that remotely may he here be - and this bunker then explore -
Scry out my exact location and this bunker then explore -"
Quoth the Raven, "Eversor"

Then, methought, the air grew darker, the bunker now a little starker
For the uttered word brought terror as I had never felt before.
As for weapons, I knew I had none - no bolter, sword or lasgun;
No arms to stop the war's son fated to break soon through the door -
The blood-mad crazed assassin fated to break soon through the door-
Quoth the Raven, "Eversor"

"Be that word our sign of parting, machine or bird!" I shrieked, upstarting -
"Get thee back into the fire-fight and here spy on me no more!
For as you came unbidden - I would otherwise be here hidden -
Leave my location in this midden - quit that icon above my door!
Take thy shining metal eye, and take thy form from off my door!"
Quoth the Raven, "Eversor"

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting - still is sitting
On the pallid two-headed eagle just above the bunker door;
His metal eye has all the seeming of a psyker that is scheaming,
To have my guts lie steaming in a pile upon the floor;
And now all hope has left me, crouched here upon the floor
I await the Eversor!

Ok, took longer than I'd figured on, but these things inevitably seem to. I haven't seen anything on the character sheets that needs adjusting (though I reserve the right to be an idiot and miss things :) ) so feel free to post them in the OOC thread here

If everyone is ok with the idea still, then we'll continue to use the previous scenario thread, assume that the team has simply had the same experiences, gained the same info, and picked up the same supplies as the first group.
