Zorn N’guila
Zorn “N’kwee’loh” the pronunciation of his last name in Gan tongue.

Age: 28
Race: In alien tongue, Zorn’s people are the Gan (written in correct pronunciation). The humans are actually able to pronounce that word, but they are still nicknamed, “Elves.”
Rank: Lance Corporal
Service: Marine Corps
Occupation: Scout
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Zorn is very wild in his behavior, but it is in his culture to be. The Gan are a nation of warriors and survival is their primary goal in life. Survival has not only made their nation very successful, but has built a foundation of mighty warriors. For that, Zorn is a very proud extraterrestrial. He is prideful and arrogant, but unlike most cocky bastards, he can back up most of his claims. Zorn likes a good fight, and even more when he’s deployed on a mission. The alien likes to live on the edge, which makes him fearless to some and insane to others. He can be quite excitable. The worst one could do is deny him the right to deploy with a team on a mission.

As a marine in the Space Corps, despite the Gan’s wild nature, he always has his teammates’ backs. He covers his team, and though he may curse a teammate out in the few curse words he picked up in the English language or in Gan-tongue, he will never leave his battle buddy behind. It is that survival mentality. Zorn is independent and self-sustaining, able to survive in situations with little nourishment and supply. He will come up with a creative way to adapt, thus the skills of his people come to fruition.

Zorn enjoys the company of those strong or strong-willed. He cannot stand to see weakness for weakness equals death. He likes to train the other marines, sharing with them the ways of the Gan, and eating “grubs.” Humans call the grubs for they resemble larger versions of the insect found in the ground on Earth. Grubs are the size of a kitten, plump, jiggly, and slimy. Humans find them disgusting, but the Gan love them.

Appearance: Zorn is 5’11”, 160 lbs, and very lean. Most Gan are slender and lean for their skills are focused on speed and agility. He resembles a human in appearance except for a few distinct features: one, being his long, pointy ears that are six inches in length, and the other being his blue, milky eyes. His hair is black and feathery, and skin tan. Zorn will wear light armor so as not to impede his speed and motility.

Background: (The focus is mostly on the Gan men. I don’t feel a need to describe the women since I’m not playing a female from that planet.)

The Gan or Elves are a race of people who are humanoid in appearance except for differences in ear length, eye hue and complexion. There are Gan from white to black and blue to grey. They are all warriors that hail from the planet Dak’kan.

Dak’kan is a rocky and sandy planet. Vegetation exists around oases and rivers that can be found in the middle of wastelands or in the mouths of canyons. The Gan capital is located within a canyon surrounding by walls and teeth of rock. The rocks were like barricades to keep convoys from entering the kingdom and the canyons a narrow space for limited maneuverability. The Gan are masters of their surroundings. They are expert climbers and free runners, teaching their children at a young age to be light-footed so that they can maneuver around their jagged surroundings. The river brings them food and also attracts food for them to hunt.

Other tribes have tried to greedily take the canyon settlement from the warriors and have faced defeat. War is a common occurrence on Dak’kan for there are many creatures struggling and desperate to survive its harsh environment and none have been able to master such an ability like the Gan. It takes a disciplined individual to survive a tough world, and that discipline is the heart of Gan culture.

When the Winnowers descended on Dak’kan, they enslaved many of its tribes, but met their match with the Gan. They didn’t fight like the other tribes. They were bold and risky with their strategies, and proved to be the most stubborn of people to conquer. The Space Corps arrived to aid the Gan in chasing the Winnowers off the planet. Having not only saved the Gan, they had also feed the other tribes before they arrived.

Zorn had been one of the warriors defending his nation when the Space Corps arrived and fascinated by their strength, he set out to join them. He wanted to follow the Winnowers to avenge his people and satisfy his own lust for battle. He joined the Marine Corps as a scout, and has been with the team since.

Specializations: SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape), Scouting, Stealth, Infiltration, Small Arms, Close Quarters Combat, Dual Sickles, and Acrobatics.

Alien Abilities:

Inhuman Hearing – the Gan’s long ears give them very sensitive hearing that they can hear a tiny insect marching on sand. Using this hearing, Zorn is excellent at collecting intelligence through spy tactics or listening for nearby enemies whether oblivious to the team’s location or waiting in ambush.

Flexibility – the Gan are quite limber able to twist their bodies to accomplish the leap, drop, or attack. Their flexibility feeds into their acrobatics that they incorporate into their swift footing and martial arts.

Inhuman Speed & Agility – the Gan are faster than what humans consider normal. What they lack in defense they make up for speed and ferocity. They are quick to react and execute, making the Gan difficult to keep up with.

Just to add some clarification just in case, you don't have to have a humanoid race, you can play as something insect like or a literall slug creature. Theres no limites to what you can play.  :P

TheBlackThrone

Let me know if the profiles are approved or not, and if approved, I'll move them over to the character thread.

Juggtacular

So are the Naval and Corps members apart of the same general group? And can they interact? Also just because someone is Corps, does that mean they won't be on the ships and vice versa?

Mac84

Okay, Black Throne, both your characters look good. Go ahead, and move them to the Character thread

A point for everyone playing. This RP will Stress Teamwork, and cooperation. Remember, you are a very small force deep in VERY hostile Territory. You will Not survive trying to be overly gung-ho/one man Army.

Think of the Space Corps much the same as the US Marines. They are their own Branch, but the Paychecks still say Department of Navy.

So yes, both groups will be interacting during battles, and inbetween missions.

Juggtacular

Got it. I've got a perfect guy for the job. I just have to invent him in my brain.

It's a work in process but here's the rough draft hope it's ok so far

Name: Rokyn Vystrum
Age: 77 (they can live for 300 years)
Race: Valrynian  (a dragon like race from the Valrynia Cluster)
Rank:
Service: Corps
Occupation: Heavy Arms / Weapons specialist
Sexuality: Omni-curious

Personality: Rokyn is a quiet soul when it comes to life on the ship.  He doesn't get caught in the middle of things nor has been caught in fights or been punished for any bad deeds.  He simply does what is told. However once he is out in the open field of battle, his heritage of fire errupts.  He is often mouthy when he doesn't think a plan of attack is appropriate.  Some fellow soldiers have noticed a glint in his eye, a sort of blood lust that awakens when fighting the winnowers.

Background:
The Valrynian people are a draconic looking race. Muscular builds with four arms, legs, and strong looking wings.  Valrynians were a more uncivilized race compared to today's standards.  Think early medieval times, with great factions ruling their planet.  It was until the great cosmos opened up and a piece of space junk fell to the ground before they truly moved into an age of technology.  Years of learning and planning, exactly like humans, led them to colonize a few local, habitable planets to form the Valrynian Cluster.  What they didn't know was the space junk, a winnower shuttle, broke apart in warpspeed, hit an asteroid, and fell the surface of the planet. Pieces of the winnower ship were divided among the the 3 planets of the new Valrynian Cluster.

The farthest planet out was Vryn, a small almost unstable planet made of a crystal and rock.  Deep within the mines of Vryn lay an odd crystal  that seems to generate  it's own power.  Using their new technology the dragon like creatures harvested the crystal to create self sustainable energy sources. Years of prosperity passed and their lives became grand amongst themselves.  However what they didn't know was the ship had a becon, and when they activated it signals were sent deep into space back to the winnower fleet.

What was unnoticed  by so many soon became their doom.  30 years after they started to harvest the stone evil came knocking in their doorstep.  The battles were long lasting as the once primitive race now wielded unique energy.  However, as it always seemed to happen, the Valrynian forces were defeated, some were enslaved to work and harvest the mines, while most were killed off.

This is where Rokyn Vystrum enters.  In the beginning  Rokyn was a simple man.  He worked his long hours for his pays and would often spend his times learning what he could through books.  He always aspired to be higher then what he was, yet truthfully all he was good at was minning.  When the war broke out he enlisted to fight.  Yet after a freak incident, in which he lost his upper right arm, he returned to his duties in the mines.  Now outfitted with a robotic arm he effortlessly did the work of three of him. When they lost the war he was in lead of his chain of mines.  They were enslaved and had to work for years under the grueling  rule of the winnower soldiers.  3 years after the war ended, there was an uprising of miners.  An effort that fell short, and Rokyn watched as friends and families burned and even the love of his life all died from his lack of control over the uprisings.

4 months passed, broken and beaten, he couldn't last much longer.  He planned another revolt, he knew it was suicide, yet he didn't care.  The night prior to the revolt though, the corps came rubbing through  leveling  the playing field.  Rokyn led his group against the guards over powering them and soon the remaining  winnowers fled.  The dark days were over.

Rokyn joined the corps there after, always working and climbing the ladder to prove to himself that he can lead.

looks Good Chreestafer. go ahead, and place it in the Character thread.

Now we're going to need someone to volunteer to the ground Group Leader, as well as the captain of the Flagship.

Juggtacular

My guy is a Lieutenant and I planned to have him heading up the Covert/Black Ops Unit. Kinda like the Lizard chick in the comic. He could run the ground group if necessary.

Lustful Bride

speaking of the Lizard woman. You all know there was a bonus comic hidden in the description of page 20?

If you haven't seen it just keep scrolling downwards.  :P

Mac84

Yes, the Comic is quite good. Please support the Artists if you can. :-)

Juggtacular

After reading over the chart. It seems the Corps equivalent to Commander is Major. And since Commander Shepard in Mass Effect still was on active duty and fighting, I'd like to volunteer my guy as the Major.  XD

Mac84

Juggtacular

Yes. Lead them into hell and back. And then into hell again because Johnson lost his rifle.  XD

TheBlackThrone

Commander is Navy. The only rank you would ever see on the ground in actual combat is a Captain (goes for all branches but Navy because Navy is the only branch whose ranks are different), and I mean, actually fighting with the enlisted not sitting at a desk over there. It's very rare that you'll find anyone higher with the enlisted. It would mostly be Lieutenants. But this is a sci-fi RP, but I could tell that the writers of the Space Corps comic are either military or retired. My source is simply based on my own experience.

I've updated my cs so far. Added that hes a four armed creature, if that's ok.  I added an additional  photo for him.  Plus background story.

Let me know if it's to much or to little.  Thanks again!

Name: Skelion "Skales" Arkos
Age: 40
Race: Drakon
Rank: Major
Service: Corps
Occupation: Ground Forces CO
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Skales is...well he's an oddity when it comes down to it. He tends to be very introverted until he gets to know someone. Once he does, he opens up and can become very talkative. He likes to joke and laugh when he can, as it helps keep the stress down. If you truly get to know him, you'll find him to be pretty good natured and easy going.

He truly cares for the people around him, whether they're equals, superiors, or soldiers under his command. Survival of the fittest may be a facet of life on Drakon, but he's no longer on Drakon and letting someone die because they weren't strong enough isn't something he can abide by.

As someone who worked on his own for so long, and then in Covert Ops once he joined the Corps, Skales tends to improvise a lot and not follow set plans much. If you commit too much to a plan and it doesn't work, well that's how things go bad.

He feels it's better to make a plan and remain flexible, then try to only go with that plan even if it's failing. Combat tends to turn Skales into a different person, and he is ruthless against any Winnower forces he encounters. Sometimes he even seems to take enjoyment in seeing them squirm.

Appearance: Skales is about 6'4, and weighs roughly 300lbs in his 'human' form. His skin is a deep brown and his eyes are a piercing hazel.. Like all of his species, even in human form he has several physical features that mark him as not human. The first would be the tribal markings on his head. They are representations of his clan and he keeps his head shaved to show them off.

Secondly, faint scale patterns can be found on his body, like around his eyes, the crooks of his elbows, etc... His eyes are another giveaway. They are normally hazel, but flash yellow and turn to slits depending on his mood or if he's about to change. His teeth and nails are also incredibly sharp, looking more like fangs and claws upon close inspection. He's also got a fully functional forked tongue(strangely enough, he doesn't really hiss).

In his Original Form, Skelion is 6'4 with grayish-black scales, similar to the color of gunmetal. He has a mohawk formed of bone spikes protruding from his skull. He possesses a prehensile tail that while delicate enough to use as an extra limb, is also sturdy enough to be turned into a bludgeon.

Biology/Racial Traits:

Evolutionary Apex Predators - The Drakon have evolved very quickly over a short amount of time due to the extremely harsh environments and animals of the planets they inhabit. This has basically forced them to become some of the most dangerous creatures in the universe.

Physicality - Their thick hides are virtually impervious to cuts, scrapes or contusions, and they are highly resistant to environmental hazards, including toxins, radiation, and extreme heat and cold. Thicker bone structure and denser muscle tissue also means highly increased strength and speed.

Sturdiness - Drakon are robust creatures, able to ingest food and liquid that may prove fatal to other species. They also possess several 'sacs' that store fluids and nutrients, allowing them to survive for long periods of time without external nourishment if necessary.

Redundant Systems - Drakon have multiple instances of major organs, allowing increased physical performance as well as the ability to ignore even grievous injuries for a time. To give a brief example, they possess two hearts, and four lungs, as well as other multiplied organs. They also possess a secondary nervous system, making it nearly impossible to paralyze or impair their movement using any means aside from physical restraint. With secondary and tertiary body systems in place, Drakon are extremely long lived(several hundred years on average, and over a millenia if they're lucky) and able to heal wounds at an accelerated rate. However, the greater the injury, the more feral a Drakon will become.

Reptilian Physiology - Similar to how humans evolved from apes, the Drakon evolved from Dragons, their version of dinosaurs. Because of this, they have many traits associated with dragons, reptiles, lizards, etc... Pit Organs allow them to see in infrared, they have sharp fangs, claws and talons, prehensile tails, and excellent senses. They can even stick to surfaces like geckos. Each Drakon also possesses something unique about them. Some have venom in their fangs, some can breathe fire, some can even fly. These abilities vary wildly from person to person and it's rare to see similar abilities.

Shapeshifting - The Drakon can shapeshift, but not to a degree that allows them to assume the form of others. The extent of this ability is that they can assume a more human-like form, and from that human form, shift back into their natural forms which are much more suited for battle. Shapeshifting extends to a natural form of camouflage that helps keep Drakon safe from many predators on their planet with movement based vision.

Electrical Current - Skelion naturally produces and incredibly large amount of bio-electricity. He is able to harness this excess energy and manipulate it, directing it through his body as a powerful electrical current. He can even discharge it through his hands as blasts of electricity. This isn't something he can spam however, and he only has a limited number of uses before he has to let his body replenish the lost energy. He can recharge himself by draining power from other electrical sources, but he tends not to as he doesn't like the feeling and there are usually limited places to draw from.

Background: The Drakon are one of many reptilian races colloquially known as "Lizard People". They come from the harshest area in known space and every planet they've colonized after leaving their home planet of Drakon Prime, has been just as if not more hazardous. Constant storms, giant flora, highly aggressive fauna. All of these harsh living conditions forced a rapid genetic anomaly within the Drakon.

In an extremely short amount of time, they evolved to survive, and by doing so became one of the most feared races in known space aside from the Winnowers. And while they were a war like people(mainly against their planet to keep it from destroying them), they didn't really bother anyone outside their home system of the Torrential Nebula.

They traded with other species with no problems and because of their constant fight for survival made them masters of combat. Drakon weapons are in high demand everywhere due to their durability, versatility, and reliability. A good Drakon rifle is worth ten men, or so the saying goes.

Also due to the harsh conditions of their system and planets, they are also very hard to attack. It is because of these reasons that the Winnowers haven't tried to conquer them yet. And while it is rare to see a Drakon out of Drakon space, if you do then chances are they're involved in something dangerous. Most Drakon drifters tend to end up as bounty hunters, mercenaries, soldiers, or assassins. Fighting is in their blood, and they're damn good at it.

Skelion's story begins on Drakon Prime. He was born the only child of a very powerful family. The Arkos family was an old name on Drakon Prime, as his great-great grandfather was the undefeated arena champion of his time. And victory in the arena means privilege outside of it. His winnings made his family rich, so rich that the next few generations didn't even need to work. Skelion was brought up privileged, with the best schooling and training money could buy.

And for most of his young life, things were good. He'd even considered fighting in the arena just like grandpa Sithis. But his life would take a different path. When his uncle was killed, his family launched an investigation and found out it was done by the Shadow-Scales, a legendary group of 'Fixers' who would solve any problem for a price. The murder of his uncle seemed to be nothing more than a message.

The Drakon believed in survival of the fittest, and if someone thought they had enough power and resources to kill someone they didn't like...well it wasn't unheard of. Over the course of the next ten years, there were five more assassination attempts on his family. Skelion personally stopped one and found out who hired them. Needless to say the assailant didn't survive the questioning.

It turns out an associate of his father named Aurelion Ziphos thought he could somehow gain access to the wealth of the Arkos family. And he had eyes everyone on Drakon Prime, but for his own safety had moved off world until the job could be completed. They knew the assassins would just keep coming, so Skelion and his family moved off world as well, with Skelion descending into the underworld to find any information he could on the man responsible for hounding his family for over a decade. He kidnapped people, killed people, tortured people.

All so he could keep his family safe. It took another five years to compile enough information to find Aurelion. He found where he was though, and after slaughtering the small security detail he kept, he confronted the man and killed him in cold blood. And if anyone had been alive to see it, they would have noticed a smile on his face. After that, his family moved back to Drakon Prime, but he stayed.

He discovered how much he liked fighting, and how good he was at it. His travels throughout the universe eventually showed him how serious a threat the Winnowers were. He ended up joining the Space Corps after a group of them thought it would be a good idea to get drunk and then pick a fight.

He wiped the floor with them, and their CO saw something in Skelion. He asked him to join up with the Corps, to fight for something bigger than himself. He picked a good time to recruit, because Skelion said yes. With his skills and ferocity in a fight, he quickly worked his way up through the ranks in the Covert Ops division.  Eventually he was promoted to Major. A short time later, he volunteered for the mission to sabotage the Winnowers super weapon.

(Essentially what I tried to do was make a race the Winnowers were genuinely afraid of and would think twice about how much they'd lose going against them. Like Furyans or Krogan or the Swiss. )
