Looking for some High-Octane funning, running, and gunning?  Want to take part in a space story, but bored to tears by the typical Space Opera scenario where aliens spend more time making kissy faces than moving the plot?  Feel like traveling at light speed with folks who are probably at least 65% crazy on a good day?

Then look no further than the The Moon Witch, where all your needs for dramatic tension, comic relief, and rampant sci-fi mayhem can be met in equal measure or your money back!  Enlist today and win a free Blaze-brand T-Shirt*, emblazoned with a picture of the raunchy captain herself!

*Blaze-brand T-Shirts are not guaranteed to every enlistee, and may have been totally fabricated for this advertisement.  We are not in any way responsible for injuries incurred should you wear Blaze-brand T-shirts around the Captain, up to and including broken limbs, loss of teeth, third degree burns, severe scarring, chemical castration, dismemberment, asthma, hurt feelings, diabetes, bad breath, or death.

I'd be more than happy to hop aboard and join along in this game if you're still hiring, definitely something that could prove very interesting. The concepts are solid and the game looks ready and waiting to be played, so just asking where do I sign in?

If there's any questions towards my humble person, feel free to ask.

Personally I'd just want to know if I am to make a Gunner character sheet based on the information already outlined in the first page and send it to Wykyd, or should I request the character sheet previous player left and take the role as left by the earlier player and play it out as such?

Beyond that, its just a matter of me reading up to catch up with everyone and starting to play alongside others if approved, if not approved, I wish you all luck and fun games and hope you find another who lives up to the challenge.

EDIT: Ugh, just reading on the OOC earlier I noticed the sheets there, feeling abit stupid now but still, wondering a bit and waiting.

Well that was conveniently fast!  You should probably PM Wykyd with any ideas you currently have or to simply get the skinny of things from the horse's mouth.

We were just discussing two different ideas, if you're up for taking the role of the Gunner.  You could either look up the previously constructed character here, which also has in-depth bios of the other crew members as well and see if you would like to adopt it as-is or revise it to your liking, or read from the blurb Wykyd gives for the Gunner and start from scratch!

Or, if the Gunner position isn't your thing, I believe Wykyd has said recruitment for side characters or other undefined roles aboard the ship will remain open indefinitely as we go on!  If that's the case, you can ask her or Nykteus (The player of Doc, also the co-GM for this game) about possibilities.

Wintercat

I'll send a PM to Wykyd soon then, ask about things abit and all, reading the materials I think the Gunner is already pretty well made though so not sure if I should edit things, rather adopt the character as is and play it. Though I am usually more for creating my own but a role is a role and can be interesting afterall to explore outside the usual sometimes.

Anyway, it looks like an interesting game and would gladly try and join along in the gunner's role if its an option.

As for the thought of side-characters or undefined roles, I might consider that as well but didn't want to intrude on the game with such thoughts when it seemed it had already gotten on the move before with a nice gathering, but as an opening came up I naturally wanted to voice my interest.

Thought to think on it, a few thoughts do come up though not sure how long lasting those would be... or how useful...

-EVA specialist: Something broken on the outside, or the crew needs to take on something out there but who's stupid enough to jump out of the ship in a suit, and risk it whether or not they land on target and can get in before being spotted? Extra-Vehicular Activity Specialist is your best bet, the guy may be crazy and love the risks but your threat to blow the merchant marine's ship apart from beyond weapon range becomes a lot more convincing when your EVA specialist previously thrown out with sufficient velocity (and means of reducing that velocity before impact) at right angle can give the target a treatment they'd rather not have.. or makes certain the ship's damaged exterior gets tended to while the mechanic handles what repairs are necessary indoors.
-Information Systems Tech: Probably a bit of a weird guy, 'Comms Officer' and using Sensors, an IST is a spaceship's annoying little guy, tending to listening to the signals trying to pick up something useful, occasionally trying to hide or mask the ship's own signature, and ascertain that whatever mark the pirates might take up is what it seems to be, as far as systems can tell... and possibly involving the enemy ship in some electronic warfare if such is an option in ship-to-ship encounters, if not, more likely to spend time trying to assist a pilot or gunner making sure the systems are workign top-notch, possibly a pain in the ass for the engineer by riding the systems so hard in the heat of moments the Engineer has to chase him with a wrench held as a club to get him to just say 'sorry!'.

Beyond those, the thoughts wander to the more alien species, but figure shouldn't involve them too much, already on shaky ground on the whole acceptance so waiting around to hear.
I've taken the Oath of The Drake. Remind me of it if you think I act against it.

Right now we're actually in need of a replacement for the Gunner first and foremost, as the crew has just gotten themselves into a rather sticky situation and needs some much needed heavy artillery!

However, those other two roles are certainly something we could all think about as the story progresses.  The danger levels are only going to increase from here on out, so I'm sure Blaze and her crew will be needing all the support they can muster up along the way!

Wykyd

Ok...since I have more than one interested party who PM'd me, we are going to change the rules a little bit. I am throwing out the old CS altogether. The character will be decided on by submission of a new CS and voted on by the current players with majority rule. I will ask that anyone interested in playing the Gunner please submit a new character sheet based on the original blurb provided here:

Gunner. (OPEN) Cheeky, red little bastard with a mean streak a mile long if you cross him.  A shock of bright white hair adorns his head and his grey eyes glow strangely.  He’s a wise cracking jack ass with a twisted sense of humor. His people come from a planet in the Hun-Ghar galaxy not affiliated with the Planetary Coalition. His father was an Ambassador to Ben’ Asai – a tid bit not known by the crew of the Moon Witch. He and Blaze served on the same mining vessel, which is how everyone assumes their association began. He’s been running with Blaze longer than any of them and can shoot a KaK charge out of mid-space from 500 yards. He knows more of Blaze’s secrets than anyone.  They’ve never been lovers, but he has been privy to more of her intimate moments than anyone still living. He is the only being that has ever seen her cry. She tells him things she’d never tell another living soul. He has the inside scoop on her true feelings about most everything…including people. He knows most of her secrets…and those he doesn’t, he’s fairly certain he does. And he has never once betrayed her trust…and would die before doing so.  He is the only being alive that knows the truth about Blaze Kincaid, where she comes from and how she ended up here. Blaze knows just as much about him. He has a thing for the navigator.

You should peruse the OOC thread as Shihong suggested as there is a lot of pertinent history in Blaze's CS.

Please be creative and original. Thanks!

Wykyd

Ok...Thanks to all who showed interest. The decision has been made and the position of Gunner has been filled. Thanks again and be on the lookout for possible additions of characters in the near future.

Ramael

.....oh.

Well you got me all interested and plotting ideas and formulating characters and visualising dramatic scenarios...and then I read the last post.

Let me know if you need an anything. Ever.

orderNchaos

I know you have a navigator...but does the ship actually have a Pilot??  I have a character that I've been developing for a while that I'd like to put into a game if you have space.

Thanks

Cheers.

alegriablack

Hi there

I have an idea for a character for me... She tends to sneak aboard ships but is rather well known so no one really minds. She's the daughter of an admiral who wanted to be a pirate and often jumps from ship to ship looking for a ship that she could call home? She's very useful to have around because having been around she's very experience... in many things...

I pretty much know all her traits and everything this is just a brief idea :)

Let me know

Thanks
Twombie

P.S her name would be Jess
There are really only three rules in life:
Fire burns, traffic is real and you cannot fly.

Alegria, Order & Remael...You have been PM'd!

Ohhh...doesn't that sound ominous? hehehe...

My submission for Pilot

Name: Jovi “Eightball” May
Occupation: Pilot
Concept: Can fly anything, and generally searches out situations that will get her in trouble in order to use her skill to get out of it.
Age: 28
Height: 5’10
Build: Athletic
Appearance: Medium build with shiny raven black hair, attractive yet plain looking. If it was not for his highly cocky demeanor, he could very easily be one of those people you meet once and forget 10 minutes after they leave.

Background:
Jovi May, or Eight-ball to those who know her, is the epitome of a wild soul. Jovi joined the military at an early age, after dropping out of the university her parents sent her to, in an attempt to turn her attentions to her extraordinary mental abilities. Jovi found her true love as a fighter pilot, and quickly rose through the lower ranks, as a pilot on a number of gunships and fighters. Her career looked very promising until a cruiser attacked a planet reported to be an pirate weapons storage cache. The bombardment leveled the entire city killing the civilian population, to include Jovi's parents. Six months after this incident, when Jovi’s cruiser happened to join up with the cruiser involved in the attack she hijacked a newly captured Pirate Blockade Runner in a fit of rage and attempted to ram the command deck of the offending cruiser. Military forces attempted to disable her ship, but instead became party to her attack and inadvertently crashed into the command deck of the cruiser, causing the cruiser to collide with a nearby moon, killing all hands. Jovi escaped her pursuers, and was able to avoid Military patrols for the next few years until she established a new life in the outer colonies. Taking odd jobs as a test pilot, or transport pilot for a number of less than reputable bosses, and finding new and exciting ships to steal and fly has carried Jovi through the last couple of years.
Jovi is cocky and boisterous by nature, but her looks, although attractive are very plain and her demeanor is the only thing drawing any attention to herself. Jovi’s demeanor is well earned however, being a naturally gifted pilot and having an eidetic memory has given Jovi reason to believe that she IS THAT GOOD.
Jovi gained the nickname “Eightball” for her love of gambling on pool and poker and her propensity towards getting herself in the middle of trouble, in an effort to prove she can get out of it. Much like the random possible answers found in the “magic eight ball” that many children have played with at one time in their lives; Jovi sees every possibility as a chance to shake the ball and influence the outcome of the answer. Jovi does not fly for money, she flies because she loves the thrill, but in the Verse, anyone can use the money.

So I read through the characters and noticed you didn't have any form of a tech specialist on and intelligence officer either.  I was wondering if you had a need for those positions or not?
If you know me personally, you know how to contact me.

OrderNchaos ~ hey hun, could you please PM me that CS? Great job, btw. thanks!

The crew of the fabled Maltese Falcon is opening their cargo doors to new recruits!

Have you had it up to here with running alongside incompetent smugglers, small time cyberware peddlers, pockmarked hackers whose voices haven't cracked yet, dimwitted thugs, marksmen more likely to mark you than them, pilots who couldn't so much as get away from a 2054 Squad Car, let alone a military cruiser, and coming to the end of the month without a single spare cred to your name?

Then you've come to the right place!  The illustrious Captain Edward Teagan, scourge of the outer rims and legitimate bounty hunter of much renown, is now accepting
applicants for positions upon the infamous Maltese Falcon, the only ship ever to navigate the treacherous Wraith Zone and come out the other side with most of its crew intact!

Why the sudden openings, you may find yourself asking?  The answer is quite simple!  The much-lauded Captain Teagan recently surveyed the state of his crew and found them wanting, to put it quite lightly.  Coming to the sudden and shocking revelation that he had opted for quantity over quality, he found those among his mighty vessel whose talents could be put to better use elsewhere, such as flipping burgers at the local McMundo's Meat Emporium, and gave them the boot, paving the way for such talented individuals as yourself to take their place!

But of course, the Captain is not the only one you'll be working alongside should you find yourself lucky enough to get in his good graces!  Once you prove yourself a capable, nay, vital element of the Maltese Falcon, you will have the opportunity and honor to meet such individuals as:

"The Loyalist": [OPEN] This man (Or woman!) has been at the Captain's side for many years now following their simultaneous defection from his last ship, due to the actions of a certain woman whose name will not be mentioned under any circumstances in this datafile or within earshot of Captain Teagan.  Recognizing his obvious skill as both a pilot and a man of worth, they would follow him to the very ends of the Universe without a moment of hesitation!  The Captain would claim it is because he saved them on more than one occasion in a display of erstwhile bravado, but certain rumors suggest they may be harboring quite the unrequited crush on their dashing savior.

The Loyalist is a Jack of All Trades and a master of none, adapting like a chameleon to just about any situation.  Though the sort to wear their emotions on their sleeve, they know the time and the place to be discreet.  A certain member of the crew derogatorily refers to them as "The Groupie" due to their devotion, but a more trustworthy individual you will never find anywhere else in the cosmos.

Speaking of certain members...

"The Weapon's Specialist": [TAKEN] A woman from a world damn near obliterated by war and then overrun by all manner of raider and mutant, the Specialist is more than a little off-kilter.  With a love for artillery and ammunition that borders on the lewd and obscene, her skill with a gun is nearly unmatched and explosions rumble in her wake.  She's generally quite good about not horribly maiming her own crew mates, we assure you.

Hopelessly raunchy and seemingly incapable of taking anything seriously, she often wears thin on the patience of the Loyalist her close friends and allies.  Conversely, she lets most taunts and slights slide off her thick hide like rainwater, hiding painful memories behind an all-too-sunny smile.  The first person to be recruited by the Captain, her loyalty to him is mostly rooted in the fact that he gets her the money and access to all the prettiest and most dangerous new toys credits can buy.  Apparently she has a thing for teasing a certain someone about their crush on a certain man, much to the agitation of the victim in question.

[Examples]: [1] [2]

And who could possibly forget...

"The Cyborg:" [OPEN] A physical powerhouse, veteran of several corporate wars, and someone who has been through hell and back on numerous occasions.  Used to be a mercenary working under the employ of Talos Prosthetics, a member of JoyCorp's medical division.  Their questionable methods during the hostile takeover of Dahlia Pharmaceuticals, including the "recycling" of dead soldiers as mindless combat cyborgs, led to their ultimate dissolution fourteen years ago. Though they managed to keep their hide intact through most of their battles, in the final days they had the unfortunate experience of stepping on a land mine that the surveillance teams had failed to report in their sweep.

Barely alive but with mind intact, Talos decided to use them as a test subject for a near-total body replacement procedure.  The experiment was clearly success, leaving them with more metal than flesh and a body far surpassing the strength of a normal human being.  The trade off was a severely diminished level of sensory input, resulting in a feeling of numbness across most of the body, and heavier weight making it notoriously difficult  to enter buildings whose floors have not been reinforced and impossible to swim without mechanical assistance.

When Talos was shut down by JoyCorp's PR Department, the Cyborg was deemed "Company Property" and put in cold storage.  It wasn't until one decade later that Edward and his crew came upon the abandoned facility, raiding it for supplies and coming upon the robot-popsicle.  Grateful to the man for securing their freedom, they decided to join the crew as a show of good faith.  Tends to be very adamant against working for corporations, which can sometimes put him at odds with the Captain's more open policy when it comes to accepting jobs.

Examples: [1] [2] [3]

And there you have it!  Four legendary figures looking to find someone worthy enough to join their ranks!  We're looking for two or three additional able-bodied men and women to fill such esteemed positions as:

"The Rigger": [TAKEN] The Rigger is a multifaceted role, and one that demands a careful balance of technical know-how and raw innate talent.  To put it simply the Rigger should be a capable hacker, able to crack the Defense Software of enemy vessels, power down security, and remotely operate systems and drones for surveillance purposes.  A man or woman who knows their way around space wreckage would be invaluable, for many old and derelict craft float through the void just waiting to be cracked open!  Should you be accepted, you'll even be granted your very own Scavenger-Class Wreck Hauler, perfect for ripping open dead vessels or seizing enemy craft and incapacitating them with your own particular brand of Attack Software.

[Ship Examples] [1] [2]

"The Alien": [TAKEN] Technically not so much of a role so much as a niche, the Captain wishes it to be known that he is quite open to non-human lifeforms working aboard his ship.  Variety is the spice of life, and there will always be things that a foreign species may be capable of that a human is not, or an alternate viewpoint that a human would never even consider!

[Note]: Send me a PM to get any details you might need on alien races in this setting!

An adrenaline fueled life full of adventure, delicious food, and gorgeous space vixens awaits!  So what are you waiting for?  Pick up your communicator and contact Captain Teagan today!

Think of a role that the good Captain hasn't?  Don't see yourself fitting into any of these positions?  Don't fret!  Applications are always being accepted, and pleasant surprises are always welcome!  Do not hesitate to contact me at any time!

In case it wasn't obvious, Blaze and her crew are finally getting some major competition!  Wykyd has been kind enough to allow me the chance to Captain (And pilot, in this case) a rival crew of pirates and bounty hunters to hound them along the way, each having their own missions and adventures in parallel until their respective stories intersect and conflict begins to brew!  Personalities and personal histories of any and all characters are entirely negotiable.

To save Wykyd some trouble, send the character sheets to me directly.  Any questions you might have can be posed in this thread.  Even if you're not accepted there may just be another role for you elsewhere in the narrative!

I'm interested in the Weapons Specialist, if it's still open.  Is there a character sheet to use, or am I just being blind and missing it?

Glad to have your interest, Kuroneko!  Even more glad to see that you have a penchant for women with heavy artillery!

You can find examples of character sheets here in the OOC.  I probably should have put a link in the main post, but I plumb forgot in my excitement!

Glad to be wanted!  I do indeed have a penchant for women with big guns, lol.

I shall check out the link and get back to you asap. ;)

The Alien, Rigger, and Weapon's Specialist positions have now been filled, and a "Public Relations" savvy crew member in the works.

The Loyalist and the Cyborg are both still available for anyone wishing to follow a gallant man to the ends of the universe or crack open tanks with their bare hands!  Apply now!

Wykyd

Ack! I've been plagued by RL and have not had time to reply to those that have expressed interest. I appologize profusely! To those waiting to hear from me...I will get a PM off to you as soon as I am caught up on posts owed.

At last check, there were still some positions left on the rival crew.

Wykyd,

Have been travelling a lot this past week, so I'm a bit behind.  Were you going to pm me back on my pilot or do you need more time?
