This one was actually inspired by a Suicide Girl.

Set in the future.  An eccentric genius scientist becomes disgusted with Earth and its decaying future and builds a Biosphere Satellite he specially designed and launches it with himself into space where it falls into a large orbit around Jupiter, and thus remains for many years.  To keep him company he designs a very lifelike android woman who becomes his companion.  He gets a rare disease and abruptly dies and she is left alone.  Many years later a scouting ship for a mining company comes to Jupiter to find explore ways to extract gases from its surface.  They discover this old scientist's floating biosphere satellite and send a one man boarding party to investigate.  He finds and falls in love with the android.

The story could go many directions from here, like maybe the guy has a girlfriend with him on the expedition, maybe he abandons his team, maybe others try to invade... all kinds of things that I would love to work out with a willing participant.
