Is it possible to make edits to the newsbox if you win an auction?

I'm thinking of starting up a mafia game over the summer, and taking out a newsbox ad for it. The one thing I don't want to do though is keep an ad going after it fills up, I'd hate to get people interested in a game that doesn't have any slots left.

I was wondering if it was possible to have an entry in the newsbox along the lines of "Game Title - Description - 10 spots left!" that I could update as those slots get taken, or at least be able to end the ad early once the game fills up.

I realize this is the kind of question that's probably going to need an admin to answer it, so thanks in advance for your answers!

Well, you can ping any staff member to edit them, but it's not something you'd have access to directly.

That would work! I wouldn't want to do that too much, so maybe just one update that the game is close to full. Anyway, thanks Veks!

I'm not sure if this would work, but banners are allowed in the newsbox, right? If you wanted fast updates, you could make a banner with a link to somewhere offsite and whatnot, and have that in the newsbox. Then, editing the thing that is offsite and changes the banner's text could make the numbers change without having to go through the trouble of PMing and whatnot.

Not sure if that made sense.

I believe the graphics in the newsbox have to be hosted on the Elluwiki, just like graphics in signatures.

You can do the same thing with the Elluiki, though - just keep replacing an image with different versions.

An awesome idea, but I have less than zero talent when it comes to things like banners, I fear...

It wouldn't have to be fancy - use the text tool in Paint to put the words you want and the number of slots available.  It would look like standard text, but be easily replaced.

Alternatively, in a very roundabout fashion, you could use a banner generating site, and use the same one each time to make the same style of banners, but alter the numbers each time, then upload each new version to Elluiki when you want it to be used.

You could also post in People who want something done and ask someone to make a banner for you, to your specifications. :-)
