STAR WARS DIPLOMACY
ROUND XXXI
ON THE PHOENIX WINGS

15 Dark Years have passed since the assassination of EMPEROR PALPATINE by terrorists in the REBEL ALLIANCE, plunging the galaxy into chaos and disarray! Pressing their advantage the rebel malcontents have severed the Empire from it's rightful seat of governance of Imperial Center on CORUSCANT, establishing instead their own pretender government styled the NEW REPUBLIC. Yet all is not lost, for the valiant FLEET ADMIRAL GILAAD PALLEON has mustered and consolidated the IMPERIAL REMNANT at the very spinward head of the NEW TERRITORIES. Concentrating the last shining bastion of IMPERIAL ORDER AND AUTHORITY together to stand tall and immovable before the vile corruption of Republicanism. With the signing of the PALLEON-GAVRISOM TREATY the galaxy settles into an all but silent cold war as the COUNCIL OF MOFFS debates it's next moves . . .

STAR WARS DIPLOMACY

What is Star Wars Diplomacy
SWD is a community of star wars nerds dedicated to nation simming in the Star Wars Universe, we've been doing this for years (probably like half my life) and we plan to keep on doing it! In SWD players take on the role of the government of a (usually) canonical entity, we've played everything from Hutts, to Imperials, to Muuns and plenty else in between, pretty much anything canonical to the Star Wars Universe will come up at one time or another. This round we're playing the Imperial Remnant (if you couldn't tell from the Screen Crawl I wrote up) so we'll be simulating the internal politics of the Empire with the players representing the various Sectoral Moffs and Planetary Governors, but if you play your cards right, maybe they'll be a new Emperer in town.

A 'nation sim'? what's that?
Nation Simming is a large category of games where the principal player activity revolves around leading, overseeing and directing a political entity within a larger world. There are several of these floating around including prominent examples like Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis, as well as a number of statistic driven concepts which can be found on google. Nation simming is characterized by the player taking the role of the leader of a polity and directing it's policy both foreign and domestic. Nation Simming also has a fair amount of overlap with Empire Building games.

Whats special about SWD
SWD stands out in it's degree of flexibility, unlike other aforementioned examples which are driven by computers (and are thus subject to the limitations of computers). SWD is overseen by a small team of GM's called 'Avatars' who are responsible for reviewing and processing results of the actions players want to take. This offers SWD a wide degree of flexibility as opposed to other designs which can't produce the same variety of outcome a model like SWD's can.

So, what are you waiting for! See you there!
