Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

It's remained consistently funny since its first series, but I guess that really isn't too impressive seeing as it is only on season 3 right now.

In my experience the average GOOD show tends to be funny (or heck, good even) for the first three or so seasons. Some stretch it further, but it often goes downhill after that. Particularly with half-hour sit-com style shows.

Just watched the live action recreation of The Jungle Book.

I suspect a lot of you would have similar attitudes to what mine used to be, that rebooting a classic Disney film just seems unimaginative and money-grubbing, and that this sort of thing would likely shine through and it would be a heap of trash.

HOWEVER, I am here to reassure you that actually... It was pretty tip top! I mean, I wouldn't got so far as to call it an "excellent film" but it rated a lot higher than I expected, I can tell you that. Maybe a 7.5/10 or so.

A lot of neat little references to the old film and follows a broadly similar story, but doesn't feel like they directly took the original and tried to completely "modernise" it. The voice acting is absolutely incredible, some outstanding performances from Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray and Idris Elba. And, to top it off, the animation is just utterly gobsmacking. Like... Holy shit how do they even DO this kind of sorcery?

Coincidentally watched Concussion last night (which is pretty much directly related to the NFL).

Was overall pretty good. I mean, I like Will Smith in just about everything, and this was quite a good story and quite a well-made film. A tad sappy at parts though and a little heavy-handed with its religiosity for me, but otherwise a good watch. I reckon I agree with the average review consensous for the film putting it between a 6 and a 7/10. I reckon I'd grade it close to a 7/10.

So, yeah, good, but not GREAT.
