I was on the fence about another game, but the updated fluff is fantastic.

What kinds of races are common/present on the frontier? I know you mention fey and orcs. Are they friendly with humans or more hostile? Any other races native to the area, or who have migrated from the old world worth mentioning?

Depending on how long it's been since the world was cut off, I'm thinking I'll probably do up some kind of daemonologist concept. Thinking an older individual, perhaps still an apprentice at the time, who lost his magic when the gates went dark and stopped working. With the tap turned off, he was forced to look to other sources to power his magic...

Gnolls, trolls, orcs, and goblins are more common on the frontier, but are fiercely territorial or migratory, depending on the region.  Half-orcs are not uncommon from the old world, and elves and half-elves are certainly known from the old world as well.  There have been no encounters with native elves or other 'pretty' races, and there's not much fey-race presence, although colonial gnomes indicate that there might be a sub-current of some "first world" connection to the planet... but the hard and fast rule is that no one really knows how all that works.  Aasimar and Tieflings are rare, but their lineages do exist-- just not in full-blooded communities... more as isolated occurrences.  Those who deal with celestial or other extra-planar beings aren't getting a straight answer about what happened to the old empire-- either their contacts can't or won't discuss what happened in The Break.

Quote1 trait, no drawbacks.

1 trait only, not 2 ?

Ixy, could you elaborate a little bit more about Bad Company?

Is there any history there that we should know about?

There's room for improvisation if you want to introduce former members as NPCs in your backgrounds or specific events.  I imagined it being something like a raiding group, no more than 20 or so at any given point, with core members recruiting or disbanding as individuals died off or were subject to disagreements.  They received some specific tasks-- disrupt supply lines, target cavalry units, sabotage a bridge, raid a safehouse, capture a spy alive-- but often they would have acted as privateers on land, free to hit any hub forces they could manage and reimbursed for proof of damage done.

I hope to finalize the group by the end of the week so character sheets and backgrounds can be concluded by January 3.  Is this ok?

Sounds good! PhantomPistoleer is there a template you pulled your sheet from, or did you freehand it?

I apologize that I'm later than I expected.

I'd like to invite the following players to post their character concepts and character drafts in the ooc thread here.  I hope to have character sheets finalized by January 7.

Xerial: Rainer Faust.  Con-artist, face.
Chanticleer: Calum Wrack.  Bolt Ace, survivalist.
Runi: Knag.  Alchemist, bomb-maker.

Thank you, all who expressed interest in the post or in PM.  I'm sorry I couldn't take everyone.

Ixy, I am super sorry. I appreciate that you liked my character, but I'd I meant to make a post dropping out of consideration for this, and thought I had done so before the holidays!

I apologize for confusing 'intent' with 'action' in the rush of everything. There was a lot of running around and last minute flight changes this year and I dropped the ball. My bad.

Please give Calum Wrack's position to your next interested party.

Have a happy new year, everyone, and I hope you all have a great game!

OK, thanks for being so understanding.

And god damnit I wanted that character in the game.

Such is life.  Will update soon.
