Really?  I'm usually on the edge of my seat trying to solve the case before the characters.  Of course, I much prefer the true-life shows like Forensics Files and Dr. G.

I never liked Heroes, but I do like Law and Order.  It sucks that they canceled it.  It seems stupid to start up the same thing in a different setting.  A lot of my favorite shows are ending and it quite sucks.

Law and Order is going out on a high note with several spinoffs, I prefer Law and Order: SVU my dad and I watch reruns every night.

But two decades is exceptional.

Yay! One less crappy cop show! I honestly hate Law and order, always have. I've never really watched heros but a few people in my Aion guild do and when I hear them talk about it it sounds like little more then an angsty teenager show with super heros thrown in. So I've never really wanted to watch it either.

Then again, I hardly watch any TV shows except Destination Truth on Sci-fi so I guess its no big loss for me anyway

Law and Order was another of those TV shows that was so poorly written that I couldn't watch an entire episode to find out if parts of it were less poorly written.  Some great actors, though, as I recall.

Heroes:  was I the only person who thought the first season rocked right up until the season finale, which sucked donkey balls?  Has the show been good since then?  What season is it and when is it supposed to end?

The hour-long television drama is going the way of the Dodo due to rising production costs and the indifference of the networks toward producing well-crafted, scripted entertainment (as opposed to cheaply-made, reality-style dreck).  Is anyone going to miss the days when everyone watched the same two or three shows every week?

(I would, except I stopped watching television a long time ago when the commercials-to-programming ratio became psychologically intolerable.)  I wonder, though:  once L&O and ER and the Simpsons are forgotten, what entertainment form will the American public have in common?  Will we be nothing but niches, demographic islands drifting farther and farther apart?  Will anyone notice, or mind?

It is, sadly, cheaper to get some chumps to do a challenge that is (semi-scripted) for a season at a time then rush to come up with a new senario for the next season. You don't have to pay someone to be particularly creative in the script department and you can get Joe/Jane Schumck to do a few episodes in a special location and even with the 'prize' at the end save money compared to paying a script writer and acting staff to do actual stories in a series.

That's what the execs see. So as long as they appeal to the lowest common demoninator, Reality TV is here to stay. I don't watch anything since I blame serveral of my favorite series' demises on Reality TV. Sometimes it takes a season for a show to hit it's stride (Smallville and X-files come to mind) and with the quick (and toxic) half life of a reality tv show it's hard to convince Execs to risk another season on something that only hits the middle of the ratings.

Plus if they go cheap..they don't have to pay said writers/actors as much. I swear that some execs probably miss the way it used to be when studios 'owned' actors and could hold their careers hostage.

What I wouldnt give for a new (and good) X-files like show...there was sooo much awesome in that series and my mom and I used to watch it all the time. Its one of the few fond memories I have of being near my family :P

I watched every single episode up until 2004, and I'm convinced that Law & Order was at its best in the opening seasons. By the time they'd reached 2000 or so, I couldn't watch an episode more than once, because they were too bland for me. By 2005 I completely lost interest in it.

I just read this news yesterday and I will miss it. However, with that said. The constant turnover in the actors (especially losing long time favorites like Jerry Orbach a few years back) might have taken it's toll it would seem. Unfortunate though that they didn't give them notice early enough to actually have a good send off finale like it deserves, but I'm sure they will create a movie just for that purpose.

Warehouse 13's first season was great - something like the highest rated show on Sci-Fi, and as someone who watched it regularly, I was thrilled to see it was being renewed.

For a while it was starting to feel like I had stumbled across a Law & Order channel, the show's on so often no matter where you turn, there it is.

I don't like Law and Order. Or CSI. Or NCIS. Or ... ...

Don't get me wrong, I love the characters and I love the plots and I love the concepts, but I have been interested in criminology and forensics since I was about 12 weeks in the womb. Forensic TV shows are starting to drive me crazy because it makes everyone an expert. News flash: you're damn well not an expert after watching an episode of CSI. And if you don't do things the way that they do them on CSI, you must not know your job, right? Wrong.

Shows like that also frustrate me because they make it harder for me to be taken seriously as a student of forensics - which is applied across several disciplines, and pretty much involves your-field-as-translated-into-a-courtroom. I'm a chem student first and foremost, but the moment I say that I want to go into criminology and forensic analytics, people assume I got into the field I'm in because I want to be like Abby. Or because I want to hang out with cops. Or because I'm just an airhead fangirl with nothing better to do with my life. Begging your pardon, but I did not learn to read results from a mass spectrometer just so I could hang out with the real life version of Tutuola. It doesn't work that way.

If it sounds like I take crap like this personally, I kinda do. Congratulations, Law and Order, on having 20 seasons. Now get the hell off the air, and good riddance.
