Mr. Vyce

Hey, everyone. I just finished doing a report, and I'm curious: Who are your favorite antagonists from an animated show or video game?
In my case, it would have to be a three-way tie between Delita Hyral (Final Fantasy Tactics), Emperor Mateus (Dissidia Final Fantasy) and Shinobu Sensui (Yuyu Hakusho).

Jag

The Shredder (from the newer TMNT series, the old one was just funny), Ani Toguro (Yuyu Hakusho), Dr. Claw (Inspector Gadget), Quellor, the Supreme Oppressor of the Monsters and Villains Organization (The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin, am I the only one that remembers this?), The Joker (Batman).

Mr. Vyce

Ah, yeah. Forgot the Toguro Brothers (Yuyu Hakusho), Lex Luthor (DC animated series), Blackwargreymon and Piedmon (Digimon) and Dr. Robotnik (both Sonic cartoons; one's a bumbling fool, and the other has ice in his veins).

And how could I forget Bowser (Super Mario Bros.) and Ganon (Zelda)? I broke my video game eyeteeth on those two and love them to this day. ^^

Hmm, I didn't watch many cartoons as a child, so most of my favourites are from video games. I'd probably have to go with Ultimecia(Final Fantasy 8 ), Lan Di (Shenmue) and probably Ganon (Legend of Zelda). :)

Oh, my goodness -- I never wanted to like that show as much as I do now. I really think I watch it for Doofenshmirtz sometimes. He's just.. <3 He's loveable.

Beyond that? Hm... Can I count White and Black Spy from Spy vs. Spy? I mean, I think who is the villain there is all relative and depends on personal opinion... But they will always have a special place in my heart.

Doofenshmirtz is adorable although probably not one of my favourite villains/antagonists of all time.

I find it hard to choose really, since several of the 'villains' I liked changed sides eventually xD. Like Vegeta (DBZ).

Light (Death Note) is probably one of them, Scar (Lion King - because you know it's true) and... possibly Ulquiorra (Bleach.)

Heh...  Maybe it's just me but I always liked Mumm-Ra, Third Earth's source of all evil:

Violence

My all time favorite villain of anything ever is (Asakura Hao) typically portrayed is a 1000 year old Shaman reincarnated soul inside the body of a 13 year old boy.  Well, technically his soul is inside the body of 2 boys, but only one of them continues using the name.  Trying to find a picture of him as an adult is difficult.  But, here's his weapon:

He can make it vary in size, but typically he's riding atop it's shoulder like it's a Godzilla or something. ^.^

There's probably a lot of bad guys that I like that make it hard for me to tell which would be a favorite, other than him, though.  But in the realm of video games, these two always resonated with me:

&

Krelian (Xenogears) and Ghaleon (Lunar) ... I have a fondness for the tragic romantic figures of JRPG days gone by, I suppose. ^.^;;

Albert Wesker. He makes the evil corporation he worked for look fuzzy and lovable by comparison. He was trapped in a volcano and hit by two RPGs, and you know what I still don't think he's dead.

M. Bison. But for me it was Tuesday. (I know that's from the movie, but you know what the game character should use that line too. That's a good line.)

Zemorus from Final Fantasy IV. First real evil young Inkidu ever faced in a game. All that rage.

EDIT: That damned dog from Duck Hunt. No way anyone could look me in the eye and say it wasn't evil. It was, it was pure evil.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Your right i am almost positive he isn't dead.  If you watch the end of resident evil 5 he ducks and the RPGs miss him.  It took me a few times watching it on youtube but i almost sure.

Since nobody has stated it yet, I will throw David Xanatos from the incredible "Gargoyals" tv series.  That man was an excelent vilian.  IN many ways he was like Lex Luther, except with more hair and more moral fiber.  Yes, he was a self-serving billionair with grand asperations, but there was still something honorable about him.  He was also voiced by "William Ryker" from STNG fame.  Incidently enough another female char, Demona, was voiced by the actress who played Deana Troy, and another charactor, Coldstone, was played I believe by the man who played "Worf" as well.

Great series worth a watch.  Go, Go now!

There were more, too.  Brent Spiner (Data / Lore) did the voice of Puck.  LeVar Burton (LaForge) also did a voice, but I can't remember who.  I think it was Anansi the Spider.  Kate Mulgrew (Janeway... ugh) was Titania.  And yes, Coldstone was played by Michael Dorn.  There might be even more that I'm not remembering, too. @_@;;

And Demona was sooooooooooo sexy... but that is unrelated to her awesomeness as a villain.

A lot of actors from 'highly recognized franchises' go off to do voice-work.  It helps with getting out of the type-casting.  (case in point - Mark Hamill as the Joker!)

Speaking of Mark Hamill's VO career. The Kilrathi from Wing Commander (though I actually never got to play any of the games where he did work). Still, evil race of cat people. You've got to work hard to make kitties evil. Look at Andrew L. Weber.

Hey, EA, you out there? Get Bioware to make a new Wing Commander after Mass Effect 3 ships. They're going to need something to do until Dragon Age III.

(Sorry I try to put that in as many places as possible so when EA spiders the web they find it, or at least I hope...)

OUR LIVES FOR KANE! :)

Well, Hemingway wins. Kane is believed to be the Cain from the Bible, and his brotherhood Nod (The name of the land east of Eden in the Bible). He has yet to be killed with certainty and is the number one proponent for the spread of Tiberium, and the one responsible for the invasion of the Scrin. In short, he's the main antagonist for Command and Conquer the RTS series. Though I wouldn't call him a villain because he's just so darn fun. If only his side had better toys.

I've seen your best and while I know a lot of them, I have to throw my own two cents in here.  Ganon, Sephiroth, Bowser, Demona, David Xanatos, all these and more I agree with wholeheartedly.  However, I've yet to see a lot of more book related villains and being a fan of the Forgetten Realms, it wouldn't be right if I didn't mention two that come to my mind easily.  Errtu the balor demon from the Abyssal Plane and Artemis Entreri, an assassin of the most lethal caliber that is nearly an undefeated swordsman that supposedly gave up his human soul to be the best in his area of expertise as well as being quite cold hearted.

He's been mentioned three times before.

Kefka, now and forever is the greatest villian of all time.
He was a lowly lab experiment that managed to usurp the previous overlord, destroy the world, and became akin to a god all in the course of play. I havent seen any other evil person manage that much of a status increase in as short of time.

Plus hes a fucking clown! Joker knows what's up...

One of my favorite cartoon villains was the big cheese, bad bird, and the ninja crows from samurai pizza cats.  Defiantly one of the best cartoons from the 80s.

Cartoon: Megatron.
Comics: Joker.
Videogame: The Dark Ones from Metro 2033

Cold Heritage

I remember reading the thing about Gargoyles' having relatively high profile actors doing voices was that at the time it was something that a lot of people in the business didn't take seriously.

Anyway  . . .

Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria "meteor swarm" My name is Lezard Valeth

I also like Luca Blight. It takes a lot to take him down. He's a beast.

I also like Raoh from Fist of the North Star. I'm okay with how, like, the 80s movie American version had him have this epiphany and decided to spare Ken. I liked that.

The Idea of Evil from Berserk is pretty neat. It's a neat take on the whole, "if God did not exist, man would invent him" thing.

Millenium from Hellsing is pretty cool too. I also like the Iscariots.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

AmericanAngel

Let me see
Dr.Eggman(Sonic the hedgehog), Sephiroth(final fantasy), MegaMind(MegaMind movie), Gru and Vector(Despicable Me)
Hades(Hercules disney movie)
argh so many sexy villans but cant remember most of them ;__;
Just about 99% of the population masturbates while the other 1% lie about it.

Jag

Anyone remember this guy?

Talpa, Emperor of the Evil Dynasty

And we need more female villains!

I really liked Clayface from the Batman Animated Series in the early to mid 90s. He was cool and scary.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Sabby

Hexxus, from Ferngully. He scared the shit out of me as a kid, and as an adult, I find him extremely creepy, but visually, he's badassert incarnate.

Well, except for his smoke form... the big chin and stupid grin and Jim Curry's voice are fine, but add them together with big body builder chest, and he seems a little too gay to be threatening, even when he's 'slitting his throat' with his finger about to saw your home in half.

HEXXUS- "Killing the Dragon" (Episode 9)

Hexxus motherfucker! Spirit of destruction, enemy of the forest, feeding on and raining down all that is poisonous and deadly.

Tim Curry? I'm pretty sure you got Jim Carrey, and Tim Curry mixed up. XD
Still, that dude was freaking scary.

I keep expecting him to spring a leak....

Samael

Little known character from the little known "Galaxy Rangers" cartoon.

I liked the show because it dealt relatively mature with themes like slavery, death and such.
Didn't hurt that it had a kickass rock soundtrack

QuoteScarecrow

The Scarecrow is an ancient, powerful alien monstrosity created for a long-ago war between the (then) technologically advanced Tarkon and a now-forgotten enemy. Even though the war is thousands of years over, he still is primarily motivated to destroy the living, ancient machine.

Upon defeat, it was forced into hibernation for uncounted millennia under the surface of the planet Granna (he mentions the figure "a hundred million years" but this could be an exaggeration). The entity was disturbed; forcibly awakened by a Kiwi agricultural analysis device whose rumbling thumpings stirred the creature back into consciousness. Scarecrow sustains himself by draining, fatally, the life force of others. His first victims were a sheriff and deputy sent out on patrol from the colony, followed by one of the colonists. Niko almost became another of his victims, but Goose was able to track him to a farmhouse. It was here that Goose gave the entity the moniker "Scarecrow," named after a ghost story he heard from the locals. During the fight, the house caught fire, and Scarecrow was trapped inside while Goose and Zozo managed to flee. The Scarecrow was seen fleeing the burning house covered in flames and cackling maniacally.

Later appearances placed him draining entire Tarkonian villages of their lifeforce in an attempt to gain enough power to kill the Heart of Tarkon (another ancient weapon which could destroy him) ("Scarecrow's Revenge") and crashlanding on Mesa ("Aces and Apes"). In the final episode of the series, he infiltrates the Tarkonian court, exerting a powerful mental control over the court until Doc, Princess Maya, King Spartos, and the court Shaman reactivate the Heart and the defenses of the planet. The Heart dispatched the Scarecrow, but we can never know for sure if that was indeed the end of the hard-to-kill foe.

Don't worry. That's not my breath on the back of your neck! >.>

Slaven's O/Os and some RP ideas!

AmberTrash

Like some others have posted, Kefka from FF6 takes the cake for me, at least for video games. The outfit and laugh would be enough for me, but the motiveless eradication of all life is a nifty thing as well. Really though, it's mostly the outfit.

AeonReflux

SEPHIROTH.

His introduction alone is fascinating... I am actually considering naming one of my children after him.

Oniya

Please don't.  Remember what happened to his parents.

AeonReflux

XD XD XD point taken. My next child will then be named after my second favorite villain, Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

Type70item

I would have to agree with AeonReflux in saying Sephiroth, tied with Magus from Chrono Trigger, and Kefka from Final Fantasy VI (just because he was such a strange little guy)

Sabby

Not sure many would agree with me here, but... Gary, from Bully.

He's such an underrated villain :/ He's like The Joker, only a much more subtle level of crazy. Joker will tell the whole city a Hospital will explode unless they devolve into animals for his amusement, where as Gary will sow the seeds, slowly, tend his crop, and then sit back and watch as the chaos blooms, and you'd never know it was him, unless you directly confronted him. He doesn't need the recognition for his deeds, he does this for himself, and he fucking loves it.

Andalon

Aaaah, Scarecrow... funny. I watched that episode (again) just yesterday ;)

Hm, my fav... Nemesis from Sabre Rider. Truely an evil genius, and refreshingly ruthless and brutal.
