Princes of the Apocalypse: Rise of Elemental Evil
A Dungeons and Dragons adventure in the Forgotten Realms

A terrible threat gathers in the North. Throughout this region of the Forgotten Realms, savage marauders bring destruction. Monsters are on the prowl, preying on flocks, rampaging through croplands, and attacking homesteads and travelers. In settlements, discord and suspicion grow. Sinister strangers lurk in the shadows, whispering about how everything is soon to change. This year brought an unseasonably warm and stormy spring. Tales spread of flooding, windstorms, wildfires, and tremors. These troubles have a source known to few in the North. Can the malevolent force behind these ills be found and silenced in time?

What's this game about?
This game is a 5th edition D&D campaign. As such it is a system game and a basic understanding of the 5th edition rules of D&D is helpful, though I am more than willing to teach. A terrible threat is growing in the North of Faerun and only a brave stalwart group of heroes stands between civilization and oblivion. This game will have a good mixture of both traditional tabletop roleplaying action and plot/character development freeform RP.

Ok, so who is welcome?
Anyone is welcome regardless of race, sexuality, creed, religion, shoe size, soda preference, etc. As I stated above it might be helpful if you have some knowledge of D&D to begin with, but don't let that stop you from diving in and joining!

Well what about you then? What gives you the right to run this game?

I've had a lot of experience running system games, and to be honest I've sort of glommed onto 5th edition pretty hard. I've run many games and have two other IRL 5th edition campaigns I'm running. Plus I'm the guy with the book!......... however, if I'm being perfectly frank I don't really have much (read: any) experience running a play-by-post system game, so this will be a new experience for me as well, but that's a good thing! (right?)

Yeah but I bet I need a whole lot of fancy books to be able to make a character eh?

Nope! The great thing about 5th edition is that the basic rules for character creation and many other things are available online free and legal! Check out this for more info!
Also for more advanced players there is the Elemental Evil supplement that can be used for additional character options as well! (Bird people excluded)

Ok, so how sexy is this adventure going to be?

As sexy as you and the other players want it to be! I can't promise every tavern maid is going to be a lusty wench, but if you look hard enough I'm sure there'll be some fun to be had.

Great! I'm in! ...... what now?

Well now you need a character. And you need to fill out your sheet in this fancy manner that I shamelessly stole from elsewhere on this site.

Characters will use the 27 point ability score buy method described in the PHB and the Basic rules. Any race is acceptable save bird people as is any alternate rules such as the human variant feats. (Note, I am NOT including Unearthed Arcana in the allowable variants as I have not had a chance to playtest most of these features yet.)

Once that's all filled out, PM me your character and I'll look it over and give it the old stamp of approval!

Muse

  Ooh!   May I play?

  This sounds very exciting.

What level do you want us to begin at?  And do you intend for there to be any erotic content?

The adventure is balanced for a party of 3rd level, but I do have some content for getting 1st level characters up to the point they'd need to be to start the 'meat' of the actual campaign. It would really depend on what people were most interested in doing.

As for erotic content I figured most of that would take place between players, so I will leave that up to each individuals preference as well. All things I should have addressed in the first post I guess  ;)

Muse

I'd be perfectly happy starting at third level, honestly.  :)  I'm playing a cleric and a wizard in other venues.  Perhaps a fighter for this story?  (An eldritch knight,  maybe?)

Mysterica

I only have a PHB, but I would love to try out an arcane trickster or else a full blown sorcerer depending.

eightxinfinity

The PHB is all that's needed but you can also download the elemental evil player companion for free from wizard's website.

Just...No one be bird people please.

Is it too soon to build characters?  Should we start at level 1 or 3?  How do you want us to do atributes?

Doomsday

Stating my interest! Been diving headfirst into a couple of IRL 5e campaigns and have been waiting for another one to crop up 'round here. I'll work on a character tomorrow.

would you allow the minotaur race from the Unearthed Arcana article?

http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/unearthed-arcana-waterborne-adventures

I'd prefer to avoid the unearthed arcana stuff since I haven't had a chance to play test any of it.

fair enough. thanks!

(now to think of what i'd like to play)

Doomsday

Thinking about perhaps playing a human barbarian woman, really digging this totem path.

Muse

I'm doing that in another game, Doom.  Haven't played her in an aciton sequence yet, but it looks really fun and I love that they can adventuer in skimpy clothes without need for armor.

Hmmm... very interesting indeed. I'm posting my interest in this. I'm a big fan of warlocks, have been since they were a class. I'm sure there's some forbidden fun a warlock could get himself involved in.

EvilBeast

Any particular format or method that you'd like us to use when submitting characters?

Im currently looking at an underdressed fire genasi eldritch knight concept.  But if no one else submits a character with healing abilites I can easily switch.

Equipment:
Equipment: A musical instrument (one o f your choice), the favor o f an admirer (love letter, lock o f hair, or trinket), a costume, and a belt pouch containing 15 gp

Languages & Other Proficiencies:
   Languege and Literacy: Common, Primordial
   Tools: Lute

Features & Traits:
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Your ties to the Elemental Plane of Fire make your darkvision unusual: everything you see in darkness is in a shade of red.
Fire Resistance. You have resistance to fire damage.
Reach to the Blaze. You know the produce flame cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the burning hands spell once with this trait as a 1st-level spell, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

By Popular Demand: You can always find a place to perform, usually in an inn or tavern but possibly with a circus, at a theater, or even in a noble’s court. At such a place, you receive free lodging and food o f a modest or comfortable standard (depending on the quality o f the establishment), as long as you perform each night. In addition, your performance makes you something o f a local figure. When strangers recognize you in a town where you have performed, they typically take a liking to you.

Action Surge: Starting at 2nd level, you can push yourself beyond your normal limits for a moment. On your turn, you can take one additional action on top o f your regular action and a possible bonus action.  Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 17th level, you can use it twice before a rest, but only once on the same turn.
Dueling: When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Second Wind: You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. On your turn, you can use a bonus action to regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level.  Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
Weapon Bond: At 3rd level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. You perform the ritual over the course o f 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The w eapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond.
Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated.  If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.
You can have up to two bonded weapons, but can summon only one at a time with your bonus action.  If you attempt to bond with a third weapon, you must break the bond with one o f the other two.

Spells:
   Cantrips:
      Produce Flame (Constitution)
      +2 (Inteligence)
Spells Known:  Mage Armor, Shield, +1

Character Background:
Celina was the lovliest slave in the harem that Sami--a Calishite lord--reserved for the entertaining of his honored guests and buisness associates.  Though rumor is that the handsome stranger she entertained that ngiht 22 years ago was an ifrit in disguise, chances are that the raven haired man with the bronzed body who smelled of frakensince was himself a Fire Genasi, and that his lovely daughter Abida inherited this gift as most calishites do, throuhg a fortutitous combination of ancient bloodlines.
Abida--so named for the grace and beauty that was hers even as a babe--was raised by her mother and the other harem girls for a life like their own.  They told her that if she studdied hard, trained hard, and honored her master, he would one day gift her to another lord--or even a prince--to serve as a personal concubine, a life of comfort, security, and prestige.  Abida loved music, dancing, and prety clothes, but lazing about the harem was soemwhat boring too her.  She liked to run and play in the pallace halls.  She would frequently dress in boys clothes and play at swords with Sami's sons.  Several of them became quite fond of her, keeping her secret and passing on to her what they'd learned from their swordmasters.
She was also very curious about magic.  Even as an adolescent girl, she was coming to have some power over fire.  This would grow in time.
