Reposting this idea-- I had a great partner once on this but would like to explore it a little differently...

It's the near future, and Flash Gordon is among the first female stars in American Professional Football-- in her second season of professional play and, after taking over halfway through the season for the injured starting quarterback, she's emerged as the first female Superstar in the sport.

However, her city is about to become the preoccupation of a malicious alien force that wants, eventually, to conquer Earth, but due to the vanity and megalomania of its supreme leader, it wants first to "play with it".

I'd primarily write for Flash as she and her small band of fellow hostages negotiate with Ming-- some incarnation different or similar to the classic comic version-- through diplomatic missions, while coordinating his enemies against him.  Meanwhile, the earthlings and their allies stall to buy time for Earth to ramp up its defensive capabilities, which Ming has underestimated.

But why Flash and not some trained diplomat or expert psychologist?  Because Satellite TV, that's why.  Ming has chosen very few humans he or she will correspond with, and all others are ignored.

Thoughts?  Please post or PM.  Thank you... Considered open to discussion or suggestions until I close the thread.
