If anyone wants to work out potential relations or prior interactions with Enkh and their character before the game i'm all ears too - he's been in the town for a while, done some things. Minor name for himself and all!

Dhi

I have plans for two farmer NPCs, one of whom is inumimi and might interact with Enkh. I don't think I'll finish them tonight though.

There's no rush! Curious about the other inu though!

Figured i'd just get the ball rolling and see if anyone wanted to have some prior interactions is all.

I imagine that Johanna has been (trying) to quietly/subtly perv on him. She's the sort who'd get all red and squeaky if caught, but would have maybe approached him for general random conversation. And tried to sneak peeks when she could.

He's most definitely quite easy to perv on, really. He's shirtless a lot, some innuendo will go completely over his head, and is always open to conversation. Part of him might like riling up others interested in him though, and he can get quite hands on. And hell, he doesn't even mind if people watch him half the time, he comes from a tribe where people don't get all fussy about being fully clothed like in Amberdale.

Are you running your shopkeeper Dhi?
No I don't think there'll be much call or opportunity for me to play an adventurer. We have interest in playing shopkeepers already.

I get what you mean, but don't forget Amberdale is hardly Victorian. Chainmail thongs would not go amiss.

A Person On A Computer

So, I just managed to get my acceptance to Elliquiy!  Yay!  This was one of the games I was looking at when I...devoured the potential threads when I was waiting for the past week!

I had an idea for this game that I thought would be perfect, but it really depends on whether or not you want straight up fantasy characters.  The character I had in mind was from the modern world who was pulled through to this one with only his knowledge of modern science and the clothes on his back.  After having pulled something together to stop a roving water elemental, he has been hailed as the Sage of Lost Magic because of the resulting powerful explosion, and now he is trying desperately to fake the role as much as he can to not let people know he's really just a powerless human who is flying by the seat of his pants in this world he has no clue about.

I think it would add a great deal of potential hilarity, but I don't want to push something into the setting you weren't wanting to be there!

Dhi

That one is meta with a capital M. I like your enthusiasm for the idea but it's not right for the setting. A character from a different fantasy reality would probably be okay. One who introduces familiar contemporary elements into a world that resembles his RPGs would lead to crossed wires.

A Person On A Computer

No problem!  I can probably write something else up.  Character concepts fly into my head like nothing else, so I'll see if I can pull something together in short order.

Is there a cut off time you had in mind?  I want to make sure that I have a rough idea of the deadline lest I get too lost in my own mind!

Dhi

Now that I know we have the interest I want to push ahead and start soon, but new characters will be just as welcome after launch. I'm not sure on when the launch will happen. End of the weekend seems like too optimistic an estimate. I do want to strike while the iron's hot, so not too much later than that.

Hobbes1266

If anyones had there character buy anything from my characters shop they'll probably know there's about a 50/25/25 chance of it actually working, doing nothing or doing something it's not supposed to.

Steir

Is there room for a (self-proclaimed) treasure hunter who is presently an adventurer in training?

:)

JoanieSappho

Also, I can very easily see Lesslie and Johanna being friends and just sort of generally hanging out, with Johanna spending time just being in the shop chatting, occasionally actually making a purchase, but more often than not just talking about stuff and trying not to be obvious that she has a little bit of a crush/attraction to Lesslie.  :P

And Lesslie being completely unaware that her friend is also her favorite author... ;D

Kokaine

Tentatively interested. Need to look over things when Im not so tired and see what's what and if there is space for the sort of character I prefer to play.

Hmm...I was thinking a wizard in in training who constantly forgets their components and resorts to flailing with a staff. Or who has the components but messes up the words and her spells always go wrong.

Current Muse: Meh, not super driven right now

Steir

Name: Jacques "Jack" Loreseeker
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Orientation: Straight
Occupation: (Self-proclaimed) Treasure Hunter, helps in peacekeeping around town and random errands

Mode of Attack: Hit-and-Run
Jack is quick on his feet, making use of lightweight weapons to deliver a quick strike at an opponent and move away at the same time before the opponent has a chance to get back at him. He prefers the use of a bow and arrows, but is just as good with any one-handed weapon he can get his hands on.

One Thing In My Pack: A set of lockpicks claimed to be a family heirloom.

Description: Jack stands at 5'6" in height, with pale green hair and eyes. He has a fairly athletic build thanks to a constantly active lifestyle around the town. He favors wearing lightweight equipment for protection, allowing him more mobility in his movements.

Personality: Jack tends to be upbeat and open with his thoughts, not wanting to hide what he thinks of others. This tends to make him frank on his opinions, but he does not hold ill will of others unless he is on the receiving end of one. He's quick to forgive when he understands others better, and isn't afraid to lend a hand. This tends to make him intrude on other's affairs when he feels that he can do something to help.

Likes: Magic items, adventuring, exploring things, helping people out
Dislikes: Mutilation, gore, whatever is listed in my offs

Story:
Jacques Loreseeker has moved in to Amberdale with his family when he was still young, and grew up helping out around town (if he was not plotting any practical jokes). He enjoys reading and listening to stories about adventurers and their travels, aspiring to become one some day. He aspires to become a treasure hunter - seeking out magical artifacts on the belief that such wondrous items are better put to use in aiding people than being locked away in some obscure dungeon or musty tomb.

DazzlingCockroach

Name: Kaea Blem
Race: Half-elf
Sex: Female
Orientation: Pansexual
Occupation: Terrible conjurer / Tasteless tailor

Mode of Attack: Summoning - Kaea knows how to summon something. She has, however, no idea how to choose what she summons, which turns out to be inappropriate more often than not. Literally throwing chickens at orcs has never saved anybody.

Given the tiring nature of this type of magic, she can only do it about every ten minutes, and the portal through which her useless companion will crawl/trot/fly out is a sphere about half a meter wide.
She can't have more than one summon in this plane of existence at a time, and whatever it is, it can't stay more than an hour.

Last, but not least, she has no innate control over the summoned creature. Her best experience in term of control is that one time when she conjured a hellhound puppy and managed to stick part of her lunch on the back of a goblin. She still chuckles when she pictures the chase.

One Thing In My Pack: The Beginner Guide to Extraplanar Creatures - Budget Edition

Description: Kaea is not tall, not muscular, and not freckled. She likes wearing her red hair in one or a few braids and dresses lightly under her big coat. Her elven blood shows in a smooth body and pointy ears. She experiments with body paint from time to times, believing that drawing sigils on her skin will make her better at summoning. Spoiler alert - it doesn't.

Personality: Curious and oblivious to danger, It's already happened to her to stop running to marvel at the puppy she had just summoned. Then she remembered it was because she summoned a puppy that she was running.
Kinda pervy, she has little actual sexual experience. And the little she's had can be... odd.

Likes: Summoning puppies and (secretly) tentacles, berries, rain, experimenting
Dislikes: Stuff that makes her go "Ew"
Story:
Born to a human mother, she never knew the elven side of her family. She grew up showing an interest in magic, but was too distracted and not disciplined enough to make a good apprentice. She ended up reaching teenhood and be only able to dabble in conjuring magic.
Unable to find anyone to teach her in her other interest, clothes making and encouraged by an adventurous mother, she left in search of someone able to make her learn.
She quickly made a reputation for herself in Amberdale the day she arrived, when she summoned a pranking imp out of boredom.

Lunar Raven

Looks like a very great concept and one which I'd be interested in participating in.  I'd like to pitch the following two character concepts (I'd rather play one or the other, but not both at the same time, at least for now):

Name: Valdis
Race: Half-elf
Sex: Male
Orientation: Hetero-flexible
Occupation: Eldritch Knight/Sword-for-hire

Mode of Attack: Trusty sword; tried, tested, true.
One Thing In My Pack: Lantern.

Height: 5' 9''; Weight: 136 lbs.
Description: Lithe and well-built, Valdis has messy, unkempt hair that looks like burnished bronze, and keeps the excess tied in a short ponytail.  His appearance largely favours the human side of his heritage, with only the barest tapering of his ears, though his teal eyes are always considered his most striking feature and seems almost luminous.  He tends to prefer neutral facial expressions when on business or adventuring, since he doesn't want to be regarded as someone with a temper, whilst his smile accentuates his youth (which he's decided isn't conductive to being taken seriously when trying to get a job or quest).
Personality: Valdis remains a fairly easygoing individual until there is a job at hand, in which case he is intensely focussed, almost to the exclusion of everything else.  When he doesn't have to draw his blade, he affable and as generous as his pocket allows him to be.  He presents an air of confidence without arrogance or servility.  Matters of honour are important to him, not only his own, but also that of others; something he will arduously defend.  His manner is marked by a certain degree of old-world genteelism, unless startled or angry.

Likes: In addition to player ons: outdoor adventures; exploring ruins (especially elven ones); sparring partners; peasant girls; tavern wenches; frustrated widows; socialising with half-elves, half-orcs, half-anything; chances to act gallantly/knightly; training with experienced magic-users and warriors; romance.
Dislikes: In addition to player offs: excessively arrogant or rude characters.

Story: Valdis grew up on a minor border village.  His father was a wandering elven adventurer-mercenary, who made it a regular point to come an visit Valdis and his mother every few years or so, bringing stories of the outside world and some of the wealth he acquired in his travels, including a light gem which the boy treasured.  Though his mother wanted him to take over the family inn become a innkeeper, he preferred to learn his father's craft with sword and magic when she wasn't looking.

Then one day, his father stopped coming and, instead, some of his companions came to deliver his sword.  It was fairly easy, even for a young Valdis to figure out what it meant.  Not too long after, he overheard an arranged marriage with his name in the matter.  The prospect of being tied down and losing his chance to see the world was so daunting that he slipped out of the house in the early hours with his father's sword and has been marching the road until Amberdale was coming into view.

Name: Axivinniusaluvien ('Ax' for short)
Race: Winter-Fae Centaur
Sex: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: Wanderer

Mode of Attack: Claws and Horns
One Thing In My Pack: Heavy cloak (Ax's main item of cloathing, and large enough to double as a big sack if need be)

Height: 6' 5''; Weight: 352 lbs.
Description: Though generally centauric in nature, Ax is a bit more gaunt the normal centaurs, with unusual otherworldly colouration.  More so, his legs are less horse-like and more cat-like in nature, a feature further accentuated by his razor crystalline claws.  Due to this difference, he is a great deal more agile and nimble than the average centaur.  Great curling, ram's horns on his head add to the difference.  His humanoid torso is athletic and toned, and his facial features are gentle though he always seems a little smug.  The unruly midnight locks of his hair contrast vividly with his bright blue eyes.
Personality: Ax always appears curious about something or other, and displays a lot of interest for his new surroundings.  Occasionally, his homesickness makes him moody, but that's usually when he's spending time by himself - in the company of others, he's always active and cheerful (though his elation more often than not comes off as strange to others).  Generally friendly, he always maintains a minimum of courtesy, even when in the company of those he dislikes or even hates.  Boisterous around men, often flirty in the company of women, Ax's fae nature often means that he is hard-pressed to remain still when interacting with others, making him feel a little constricted when inside buildings not made for his size.

Likes: In addition to player ons: humanoids who are fascinated by him; physical competition; deep, primeval forests; dungeons; other fey creatures; music; wine & festivities; exploring; wearing out sexual partners.
Dislikes: In addition to player offs: extreme timidity; climbing on his back without permission; lifting his tail (touching is fine).

Story: Axivinniusaluvien comes from the realm of Faerie and had the misfortune of crossing an intersection of leylines during a lunar eclipse, the result of which left him stranded in this strange new (and often uncomfortably warm) land.  Even so, he did not let it get him down and has been spending his time roaming around the lands he's come across, content to observe.  Ambervale is the first major settlement he's come across and has taken to linger there since it is something new and exciting for him.

Lunar Raven, can you change your magical equipment to something mundane? Even though a light gem and gloaming cloak aren't more powerful per se than ordinary lantern and drab cloak, and the moonblade might not perform any better than a regular sword, the swag factor is a bit much. Remember that others are arriving with just the clothes on their backs and the means to clear a cellar of mice or escort a dairy cow. This is the power level of the game.

Low Moon Sung,
Esmerelda,
Johanna Laurus,
Enkh,
Zebeynil "Zebbie" Shuruque'fyn,
Helia Plum-Tail,
Lesslie Alkins,
Jacques "Jack" Loreseeker,
Kaea Blem,
Valdis,
and Axivinniusaluvien are all approved.

The cast of characters looks great so far. I know there's further interest as well and we can accommodate more. Today I plan to have a character sheet thread up for those of you approved to post your sheets, and an OOC.

In the meantime, another NPC:

Name: Ishi
Race: Inumimi
Sex: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Occupation: Farmer

Description: Blame good inumimi genes for the widow Ishi still being the spry wolf of a woman half her age. She carries herself with a comfort in her own skin that can only come from the years and satisfaction of a life well lived, and now her lavender hair is going silver to match her bushy wolf-tail. At 6' plus eartips she still cuts an impressive figure, and her inumimi muscle is wiry and lean for the tribal life, though with age it takes a little stretching in the mornings to get going. With this in mind she dresses light and loose, and keeps that tail always wagging in good health.

Mode of Attack: A sturdy shovel
One Thing In My Pack: Plenty of water!

Personality: Ishi fancies herself a source of wisdom, and dispenses it unasked for when there's a little drink in her (which is often, for she's fond of it). For the sake of helping people realize their potential or foolishness or potential foolishness she can be a little mean-spirited like the trickster Coyote. At heart she is a peaceful soul dedicated to nurturing new life one seed at a time; it's merely that people have greater airs to get past than do trees.
Likes: New scents, teaching life lessons, gardening, robust adventuring types, tail pulling, roughness
Dislikes: Religion, stuffy humorless sticks in the mud, machines, unpleasant odors
Story: Ishi was a blushing inumimi bride once, by all accounts the happy wife of a soldier. The pair never had children, and he passed peacefully while Ishi yet had decades of life left in her. Rather than remarry, Ishi moved to Amberdale with a ten year plan to keep busy expanding a humble farm to the brink of Oldwall Forest. So far the life has treated her well, keeping her fit and in the path of an endless stream of interesting young adventurers. In the interest of staying social or ogling the new blood, Ishi always leaves something or other for hired troubleshooters to dip their hands in, meaning there's always at least one paw-stamped request on the Horn and Vine bulletin board, and promise of a bribe from gods know where the widow of Lone Wolf Orchard has treasures stowed for a rainy day.

JoanieSappho

Hmm. Realized I didn't put a One Thing in my Pack in for Johanna. Tempted to just say 'money' and leave it at that, since sheltered spoiled rich girl, and such.

Also, all these interesting and exotic people! Hanna's going to have trouble deciding whose bushes to hide behind at this rate.  :P
