How long do I have to beat the urge to scratch after I put it on until the itch fades? And are there any anti itch creams you would reccomend? *scratch scratch scratch*

It's usually good to find something else to take your mind off of it.   Game consoles work great for that.   ;D

Hydrocortisone works for me every time.

EDIT; Also, I've found that cutting/filing my nails down short helps me resist the urge to scratch.
Tentatively trying to get back into RPing...

I don't know why, but nothing really seems to completely get rid of the itch for me.  But I have discovered that aloe helps the bites or whatever heal faster if I can resist scratching long enough.

If you press a cold damp wash cloth on the bite or rash (through a shirt or similar cloth material, not directly) for a few minutes before applying the anti itch cream it should help you last long enough for it to take effect.  Hope that helps ^^
