The Heroes of Destiny, sheathed in the greatest protective enchantments and bearing the legendary Weapons of Legend, did ride forth to do final battle with the evil Lord of Evil, and in so doing Save the World.

Then they all died. The common story is that a very unDestined stone dropped from the ceiling and struck the wizard, causing him to lose his concentration on controlling an elemental prince, who proceeded to turn upon the group, wreaking much slaughter and devastation.

Now it's just you. Nobody ever wrote a destiny about you, unless it was "and then the Squire and the Camp Woman did say, 'what a Hero that Sir Gallant is!'" as part of something something anyway he slew a dragon. No one ever held a parade in your name, but you were there nonetheless. Heroes are rarely solitary beings; they attract an entourage that rarely gets mentioned much. You might have been a scholar who tagged along to write a biography. You might have been the wizard's familiar, given humanoid shape by a spell and newly independent. You might have been squire to a virtuous knight, or mistress to a dashing rogue, or a gutter-urchin that the raging barbarian was nice to now and then, or even the princess that they had to keep rescuing time after time.

Regardless, now everything is in chaos and it's... up to you? How the hell could it be up to you? Well, it doesn't have to be. The Fates aren't really concerned with whether or not you want to save the world, they're still in a violent tizzy over how things aren't happening like they're supposed to. But you do still live there, right?

So! Hi!

I want to run a game about an especially rag-tag group of misfits who were sidekicks and hangers-on to the "real" heroes, who had their own lives and dreams but who would never have gotten into any heroic tales, except that now they have to pick up the pieces after everything went wrong. I don't really have a setting in mind so it will probably be homebrewed or the Generic Fantasy World.

A word of warning: games I run tend to be pretty silly. This is unlikely to be an exception to the rule.

The notion I had for a system is D&D 5e, somewhere from 1st level to 3rd, but I could be convinced to use another system (or freeform?) just because getting you all killed would sort of defy the whole point of the game (unless you were replaced by an even rag-taggier band of heroes or your own hangers-on. See again: silly)

With that in mind, who is interested?

Edit from the future: Open to new interest until 11:59:59 PM Sunday, Sept 17.
Character rules are these:
3rd level
Array or point-buy
Starting equipment packages, plus 200 GP and one Uncommon magic item from or related to the Hero (or Heroes) you were attached to

No Variant Humans or Arakakoa

The cleric's 2edgy5me wannabe-warlock kid sister, maybe? Talks all big about having the forces of hell/The Old Ones at her fingertips and the deep dark torture of her darkened soul, but secretly likes pretty dresses, cakes and cuddly toys and such.

"I-I have no idea what you mean! It's not a doll, it ... it's an effigy to channel the burning empty darkness that fills my soul into the minds of my victims!"
"You were having a tea party with it."

Hahahah!!! I freaking love it Joanie!!

I would love the game to be 5e, make random chars for it all the time and had some great fun, so that sys has my vote!

In terms of pcs getting killed, instead have something embarassing happen, not like a little thing, but huge embarassments, the kind you move to annew town and change your name. But as fate has sunk its hooks in, they cant turn back. Sonething keeps happening to stop thrm...

Guancyto

Okay! That's some interest!

Let's do...

D&D 5e.
1st level screw it, 3rd level. 1st-level characters either don't survive as hero sidekicks or don't stay 1st level.
No Variant Humans.
Point-buy or array only.

For lethality, I had a couple of ideas:
1. Start with not-Fate points, which you can use to automatically succeed at a death saving throw, or fall unconscious for the rest of the scene if massive damage would instantly kill you. The Dark Heresy option.
2. No fate points, you just plain automatically make your last death saving throw, so nobody bleeds out, and you fall unconscious (and are unable to be revived) for the rest of the scene  if massive damage would instantly kill you.
3. Instead of a TPK, you get captured by whatever it was you were fighting (or by passers-by, if you were fighting a bear), and wind up having to escape

Bit of a confession, this is in part inspired by the bits in the Mario RPGs where Princess Peach has to roll up her sleeves and starts kicking everybody's butt.

Just as a note, I was thinking a little more of a personal connection than just an occasional contact. Someone who was present for the heroes' lives (maybe the rogue was also teaching him the sneaksman's trade, mostly as a lark and not very effectively?) Sort of like-

Oh my goodness yes. I did not know I needed this in my life before now.

Is there still room on this? Because I'm thinking the paladin's manservant, a barbarian he "civilized" as crusaders are wont to do, who learned to speak by reading a book on etiquette.

"Pardon me sir, I appear to have lodged my axe in your chest cavity. I do apologize for the inconvenience."

Adventurers are famous for fucking anything even half way attractive on their way through a town and for this peasant girl stuck in a Community whose excitement mainly comes from not being eaten by kobolds and Corn, it's a bit surprising to learn that it was a group that included her mother. Not that she wants to think about that too hard.

Of course she'd never have known this if not for the fact it seems her fathers Sorceress powers were hereditary and came with Horns and a Tail. Neither of which she is at all used too.

Sadly while she has inherited incredible magical power, she's got no fucking clue how to use any of it and so is more of a walking magical disaster zone than a future hero. But it beats Corn. Anything beats Corn. Anything.

Chulanowa

Wait. Villagers in this world get eaten by corn? This is like the worst "In Soviet Russia..." joke.

Yay! I also need to wake up, but will edit her sheet into here when I do. Also, how young are we going? 16? 18? Since, kid sister would be pretty close to one of those two numbers, I feel.
Of course now I need to find character images that aren't too young-looking ...
Also, quick question. If my warlock goes Pact of the Chain and gets a familiar, mind if I keep that mostly the same, but we go with it basically being a cute possessed plushie version of the creature, purely in appearance?Mechanically unchanged, just a reskin, basically.

Guancyto

Isn't there a thing where E just doesn't allow kid characters? So at least 16, probably, then.

I have no objection to reskinning basically anything so long as it obeys the same rules, you could have your eldritch blast be a swarm of obsidian butterflies now and again if you liked (but you couldn't use them for free caltrops), and a possessed plush quasit is awfully compelling.

Yeah, E's absolute minimum is 16. A fair few people say no lower than 18, though, was just seeing which you would go for.

Age of consent in my state is 16 so it's not weird to me to have one in an a-rated game, but yeah, it's not the same everywhere.

Name: Whisper Moonsoul Crowheart. Or, as her parents and everyone else seems intent on calling her: Peach Tanner
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Orientation: Uncertain (Bi)
Race: Human
Class: Warlock
Level: 3
Personality/History: Born and raised in a family devoted to the god of light, Peach, or Whisper as she tries to go by these days, was the rebel of her family, trying to throw herself into the darkness as soon as she was able. Unfortunately she is, by nature, a sweet, playful girl who has an inordinate fondness for pretty, frilly dresses, soft cuddly toys and cute things in general. Also, despite her best attempts, she is just plain bad at being dark and mysterious, although she seems not to notice this.
However, as much as she wanted to be the opposite of everyone else in her family she was always close with her big brother, possibly to rather unusual levels of affection. When he went missing she couldn't just stay back any longer. She needs her big brother and just has to go and find him again.

Has had fantasies of turning others into obedient 'dolls' and dressing them up and then 'playing' with them in both childish and very adult ways. Tentacles. Very into tentacles, and wants tentacles to get very into her. Also, very probable massively incesty obsession with big brother cleric.
Character Offs: Anything involving pain, either hers or others', anal, blood, toilet stuff, being restrained (although the player wouldn't mind seeing that one happen)

I've decided my princess is a monk, which would explain how she survives all right running around in skimpy outfits and why her slaps hurt so much.

Decided on Maize, a Tiefling Wild Sorceress who used to be a human from a very, very dull town with an obsession with Wheat Products both benign and evil. When her absentee father died, she inherited both his power and his curse, though sadly no actual instructions on how any of this shit works. She's got a good handle on the horns, is working on the tail and is confident she'll get a hang of the vast cosmic powers she wields any day now. Her efforts to do so are a bit like what'd happen if you gave a Toddler a Water Cannon and turned it up full blast, incredibly funny as long as nobody gets hurt.

She was ran out of town for being too interesting. They're farming wheat, ain't no room for weird demon girls with magical powers. Take that shit to the city lady!

She is determined to go forth and be a hero. Or a merchant. Or an artist. Just literally anything other than a corn farmer. ANYTHING.

Skynet

Was thinking of playing an elven fighter/eldritch knight.

I asked it in a former 5e campaign I was in, but what is the GM's idea of 3rd party stuff? Catfolk specifically? I believe they'll be an official race soon, but there's racial traits from a sourcebook which aren't too OP/weak. It was from the Book of Heroic Races, if that matters.

Catfolk Racial Traits
Catfolk have the following racial traits.

Increased Ability Score. Catfolk are graceful and light on their feet. Your Dexterity score increases by 2.

Age. Catfolk mature a little faster than humans, reaching adulthood around age 14. They age noticeably faster, too, and
rarely reach 75 years of age.

Size. Some catfolk have powerful builds while others are slim and lithe, but they all tend to stand between 5 and 6 feet
tall. You are Medium size.

Speed. Your base speed is 30 feet.

Cat’s Luck. Once per day, you can have an advantage when attempting a Dexterity saving throw. You must decide to
use this ability before the saving throw is attempted.

Feline Senses. You are proficient in the Perception skill.

Sprinter. Your speed increases by 5 feet when dashing or disengaging from combat.

Languages. You can read, write, and speak Catfolk and Common.

Subrace. The two most common types of catfolk are the faol and saebul. Choose one of these subraces.

Faol Catfolk

Faol catfolk have human-like faces, short hair all over their bodies, and longer hair on top on their heads.

Increased Ability Score. Faol catfolk have a persuasive personality and charmingly good looks. Increase your
Charisma score by 2.

Darkvision. Faol catfolk live for the night, hunting prey by starlight. Within 60 feet of you, treat dim light as if it were
bright light and darkness as dim light. When in darkness, you see only shades of gray without any color.

Saebul Catfolk

Saebul catfolk possess feline faces and thick fur that covers their entire bodies.

Increased Ability Score. Saebul catfolk can spot hidden sources of danger and are patient when stalking their prey.
Increase your Wisdom score by 2.

Hunter. You are always proficient in Stealth and Survival.

Anyways, char pic ideas:

Elf, Right Side

Catfolk

Relikai

Will be making a Human Fighter :) the main man in a melee fight.

Guancyto

Oh dear. Oh dear. That is... wow that's a lot kinkier than expected. "Notice me, tentacle-senpai!" made me laugh though.

As for the cleric, I mean, part of the tagline is that the heroes of legend are reputed to be super dead (moreso than is usual for heroes). But you personally never saw the body, and there's probably a rumor running around that they're all trapped in a soulgem or something?

Alright, copy-pasting directly from the PDF is getting all messed up, so I made images of the game stats!

Yeah, Razorclaw Shifter looks fine. It seems a very physically-inclined race, although the Dex bonus makes me think of a mobile class.

I was thinking of a ranger, although I heard horror stories about that class. I'd also like to match my image of a badass catgirl with a big sword, although no STR may hurt. I can try multi-classing, but that may be out of my league right now.

That's fair! If I feel like things are getting to be too much, I can present her with less opportunities for sexual self-discovery. (If other PCs do it, well, on their heads be it.  :P )

Over the years she has secretly enabled her abduction by other foul being so that they could have their way with her and then have a virile champion come to her aid and be rewarded. This way she was able to satisfy her appetites without shaming her family. Her father tried various ways to keep her safe but somehow she always kept getting kidnapped. He even sent her to other kingdom but they always had villains there quick to abduct her. Luckily there were many champions willing to come to her aid. Now the world needs new heroes to go face to face with the vilest beings ever... and Princess Poonjab can't wait to meet them all.

Are you still recruiting? I'd be interested, but it looks like you already have plenty of potential players... and I've been dealing with some things, so it might be a few days before I could finish a sheet.

I don't have any ideas just yet...

Guancyto

Oh dear. This, uh, this isn't going in Light after all, is it? ^^;

Cerulean: Still recruiting! I should probably establish some sort of cutoff, so: this will be closed to new interest after Sunday. The timeframe for actually making characters/sheets will be a little looser, so if you've posted in this thread, you're fine!

All right, thank you. I'll have to look over this and come up with something when my brain is a little less dead... it sounds like you're willing to be flexible with unusual or silly character concepts, so hopefully I can come up with something fun.

(Actually, if the game might be a bit on the sexy/kinky side, there's a cleric idea I never got a proper chance to play...)

But while I'm here, I should mention I definitely approve of catgirls too.

tyr4n02r

Still room? No idea what I want to play, but I'm in if you will have me. Is there any role that needs to be filled?

EDIT: Had a couple of ideas:

A Male Bard and/or Cleric that worked in a brothel, not as a "worker" but to provide restoration and relaxation to the workers via magic/music/tea.
A Male or Futa (Tiefling?) Warlock that was a part of an order that wanted to "ascend" into succubi/incubi
A Rogue/Bard of some sort that has a mission to collect unmentionables of female royalty
I apparently insulted Dicebot's mother, and it still remembers... you've been warned...

Guancyto

Oh right! You're not level 1 any more.

Hmm! Let's say... starting equipment package, plus 200 GP and a single Uncommon magic item that comes from or is related to the Hero (or Heroes) you were associated with.

Core races are fine, ask about ones from unearthed arcana (there too many at this point to make an itemized list). The only one I can think of out of hand that I don't want is the bird-people.

tyr4n02r

K will see what everybody else has planned then get a sheet together.

CeruleanSerenity

Question, would you be all right with a little homebrewing if it's necessary to fit a concept? I don't mean a new class or anything, but some of my ideas are just a little off the classes or races in the book... I don't have anything in mind, but I thought I should ask if the option is open. I would run it by you first, of course.

If not, it's all right. Picking one concept to go with is harder than coming up with multiple.

JoanieSappho

Tempted to buy a mount, but Peach doesn't really have much skill riding, so ... may just hold onto the money. As for the magic item, s Luckstone/Stone of Good luck seems like the sort of thing a big brother would send his little sister!
And then my terrible mind misread the description to say that it gave her bonuses while in her person rather than on and I may need help.

tyr4n02r

Do we roll for HP or take avg? (For character build)

EDIT: Variant Half-elves allowed?

Acolyte Equipment
A holy symbol (a gift to you when you entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a belt pouch containing 15 gp
Waterskin x3: 15lbs, 2 full of water, 1 full of wine.

Half Elf Racial Bonuses
Ability Score Increase: Your Charisma score increases by 2, and two other ability scores of your choice increase by 1 (Dex & Wis)
Darkvision: Can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Skill Versatility: You gain proficiency in two skills of your choice.

Cleric: Life Domain
Ritual Casting: You can cast a cleric spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared.
Channel Divinity: Turn Undead
As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer censuring the undead. Each undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from you as it can, and it can’t willingly move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also can’t take reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there’s nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.

Channel Divinity: Preserve Life
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to heal the badly injured. As an action, you present your holy symbol and evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your cleric level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can’t use this feature on an undead or a construct.

Bonus Proficiency: When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with heavy armor.
Disciple of Life: Whenever you use a spell of 1st level or higher to restore HP, the creature regains additional hit points equal to 2 + the spell’s level.

Acolyte
Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Religion
Languages: Two of your choice (Abyssal and Orc)
Equipment: A holy symbol (a gift to you when you
entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a belt pouch containing 15 gp
Feature: Shelter of the Faithful
As an acolyte, you command the respect of those who share your faith, and you can perform the religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your adventuring
companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence
of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share 1 your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle. You might also have ties to a specific temple dedicated to your chosen deity or pantheon, and you have a residence there. This could be the temple where you used to serve, if you remain on good terms with it, or a temple where you have found a new home. While near your temple, you can call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.

Personality Trait: I’ve spent so long in the temple that I have little practical experience dealing with people in the outside world.
Ideals: Charity: I always try to help those in need, no matter
what the personal cost. (Good)
Bonds: I owe my life to the priest who took me in when from the streets when I was young.
Flaws: I put too much trust in those who wield power within my temple’s hierarchy.

Personality: Humble, polite and kind, willing to heal (in more ways than one) as charged by Sharess. He holds a very calm and diminuative demeanor, mainly because of his lack of interaction with people outside of his faith's templars, priests and adepts, but has been privy (mainly guard/bouncer) to various festhall parties and get-togethers held by the temple. Has also been a part of outreach missions, such as feeding and medical ministries. He would prefer that most conflicts could be solved through talking (or as Sharass teaches, through orgasms,) but it doesn't help that he is not very assertive. He tries to always keep a smile, and to pray for the fallen. He is also very faithful to those teachings, as that ministry has given his life quality and purpose. With the temperance and discipline instilled by the Sharessin, he is slow to emote, but quick to suggest and provide relaxation (not so much for himself but as a principle.)

Physically, he is not too imposing, but has a lot more muscle and skill than his frame appears. Dex has good coordination and average agility, despite primarily performing in heavy armor. Prefers to wear conservative clothing, mainly his Grey Garb while in civilian settlements. He wears his Pride Garb when entering a temple (or "temple") of Sharass, but also wears the Golden Paw, as it grants him access and an audience that he usually would not. A reluctant fighter, he prefers giving warnings and warning shots, before swiftly pummeling the victims into the ground. Very capable in melee battle, however his first position is to protect before offense. Has a vendetta against undead which may also spread to certain demon, forgetting all defense. It becomes a (very reckless) objective, so it may be a good idea for someone else to communicate with necrotic forces...

Backstory:
Bullet Points
Street urchin taken in by traveling members of religious "order." Priests taught him Sharess’s way of promoting self indulgence. Stayed and studied for years. Became a healer to “celebrants.” Became Sensate, a Sharessin cleric with a healer’s focus. Graduation Day Massacre with undead raid and fire. Some members escaped, mentor did not. Dex now carries Byakko-Tai armor and Golden Paw of former teacher.

Biography
The circumstances of his birth, the absence of family, the trials of his childhood: All unimportant, and were never a factor in his life choices. The only things he knew were that hunger sucks, old scholars can get handsy, and not to lose the only possession he ever owned: a piece of paper he kept in a pocket, which at that time he couldn’t read. He was penniless, pitiful, and purposeless.

Somehow surviving on the streets and wilderness up to age 7, he was found under some sort of tarp by a group of white-clad fighters in various armor. Their presence set the impressionable young man’s heart aflame, which blew into an inferno after they let provided him food and shelter for a week, before carrying on to the next location or mission. On their way out, the boy asked them why they were so kind and what they were about. They explained SOME of it, not going into too much detail, but explained about their goddess Sharess, and her pursuit of indulgence. As they were explaining to him, ushering him out out the dormitory part of the temple, they all happened to (un)fortunately get a glimpse of one of the “get-togethers” in the “service centers.”

Wide eyed he replied, “You mean I can get a harem of BITCHES!?!?”

…Not quite…

He became an initiate and travelled along with the worshippers of Sharess to their monastery mountains, recluse from the major towns and city temples, to learn the history and teachings of the Sharessin as well as gain a basic education to go along basic skills. And the first thing he learned was what was on the scroll that he kept with him; it was a birth certificate with his name on it: Dexter Rox Sands.

He pretty much flunked the academic side for the first year, having to repeat the courses. But that did not discourage him, as he was determined to help contribute to the people that saved his life. Thus his 6-year program became a 7-year one. Yet and still, barring that first year, the young now-14 year old teenager passed his exams with flying colors, going from Feral (the derogatory term used for their initiates, usually used in jest,) to Grey. They then have the opportunity to either leave the holy ground and live on their own in society or to continue their religious education, training in a focus for either Sensate (clerics and bards who spread the message of Sharess through protection and maintenance of taverns, festhalls, and pleasure houses,) Celebrant (bards and monks who focus on providing others the various forms of self-indulgence through arts, confections and flesh) or Byakko-Tai (fighters and paladin with a reputation of being swift and effective.) He chose sensate, as he wanted to serve those who serve others, providing safety to those whom aren’t treated as much more than hookers. While the priests and warriors may gain respect as scholars and professionals, and clergy as businesspeople and various forms of celebrity, the temple workers were often treated as glorified sex toys.

As he was relocated, he worked as handyman and healer to a temple in a decent sized city. As one of the few males in the temple, he also held the duty of guardian and bouncer, escorting the clergy and other workers around town, or keeping violent intent in check during sessions or festivals. His work and living conditions were overseen by a white tiefling named Oria, who also taught him the practical ways of expressing the faith. She was young, decadent and beautiful, beyond the perception of "tiefling hot", but had an allure that most found intoxicating and able-bodied, short a few facial wrinkles and knee problems. She was in her late 20’s, but was skilled and revered enough to have earned a Golden Paw. Beyond being a status symbol with-in the Sharessin hierarchy, it was infused with a power to rival any combatant, an honor bestowed to those non-combat officers who performed a great deed or service. Beyond being solid gold, it had a visible embedded ruby in the design of the holy symbol of Sharess; the gauntlet was as mobile on the hand as a leather glove, enchanted not to melt or ding, with only basic care needed to restore it's luster. He never actually found out what great feat she performed, but the high clergy often had positive statements about her, although they did complain about her sharp tongue and dominant presence. Dex agreed...

She taught him how to perform various oral services to all sorts of clientel, but he primarily performed them on the temple’s celebrants or visiting Sharessin who needed rest, healing, or just some personalized attention. In his interpersonal interactions, he learned many techniques from Byakko-Tai as well, as his interest in his saving forces still never waned. He used these as his thesis to graduate to become a full Sharessin cleric, allowed to teach doctrine, sanction rituals and organize parties. He was granted into those ranks as he became 18.

During the Graduation Ceremony that take’s place on their holiest of days, Midsummer's Eve, many Feral Initiates became Grey, and like Dex, some Grey became part of the Sharessin Pride through their respective focuses. And then, the monastery became immediately under attack. Someone wanted the mountainous land for themselves. A powerful lich (yes, these anomalies happen sometimes, and look who paid for it…) commanded a raid on the place with his raised army, with many being unarmed, as they where in ceremonial garb rather than their respective combat attire. The temple fell swiftly, and many Sharass’s followers, most trained in pleasure and healing rather than combat, fell only to be reanimated against their own fellowship. In the fallen was Oria, who not only became reanimated, but was finally laid to rest by his disciple, Dex. He took the remains with him and escaped, along with others, hiding within the closest towns and settlements, many using their disciplines of fighter and cleric to provide healing, with celebrants “earning their keep” in other manners.

And so, Dexter claimed Oria’s Golden Paw as his own, with the perks of holding such a prestige aiding in his survival within the ranks. Able to secure Byakko-tai chain mail from a fallen warrior, he still felt uncomfortable within it, as he did not earn the title or the rank of armor. He set out to continue his mentor’s mission: To help and heal those who help and heal others. He wanted to continue in the legacy of the Byakko-Tai, while still having his deeds be more powerful that his fist. He also had a personal mission: Be worthy of his master’s robe, and to earn his way rightfully into the Byakko-Tai. And, as a side mission, bash the heads in of lichs and undead creton…

Name: Raivo Tennia
Age:
Gender: Female
Orientation: Omni
Race: Stout Halfling
Class: Barbarian
Level: 3
Personality/History: Nobody is really sure where the diminutive Raivo came from, though long story follows back to the early days of the Heroic Barbarians starts, seeking a guide through the rough lands he happened upon a Halfling village, and attempting to speak ther tongue, asked for a guide through the lands.. Here is where the story has some different tellings, In one, the words he spoke sounded like the halfling word for "life guide" Or another term for wife, and elected Raivo to be what he asked for.. Others insist they damn well understood what he meant, and that they unloaded her upon him to get him out of their village after what had happened with that badger.. Either way, Raivo was married to the unsuspecting Barbarian, and helped him through the lands, joining him for a short time before leaving her "husband" to persue his great destiny.

But that tells little of the actual past of Raivo. An orphan (though many insist she was deffinatly abandoned) in the village she was raised in shifts through the people, usually by those who the people felt needed some punishment.. A fiery temper, rash decision, and a willingness to fight ANYTHING that came along she eventually gravitated to living outside of the villages borders, acting as something of a protector for the people inside, though by many account she has chased off as many legitimate merchants and traders as bandits and robbers. She taught herself the ways of the barbarian, seeming to not realize just how her size would effect her prospects in such a lifestyle, managing to tap into some internal reservoir of rage to power along and push through such a border. While her "husband" spent his time on his quest, having excused himself to go and better himself til he is worth of one such as her, she wandered through the country side, terrorizing most anything she came across, though made a direct path to the source of the rumors of her "husbands" death, intent on most bloody and violent knee height revenge!!

I think I'm going to play a barmaid.

Specifically, the barmaid from the tavern where the heroes first met, because all heroes meet in a tavern. Maybe she picked up some skills from all the heroes she has met (and been seduced by) over the years, or maybe they're just the kind of thing you learn working at a tavern frequented by rowdy wanderers and mysterious men skulking in corners. Either way, the world needs saving, and for the first time none of her patrons seemed interested in the job. Someone has to do it.

I'm not sure of her class yet, but fighter, bard, rogue, and cleric all seem like options...

Halfway through polishing up the character, I realize I'm making Kvothe. With tits. S'what I get for reading those damn books while making characters. Oh well, Kvothe is awesome!

Name: Sella Lampwick
Class: Bard 3
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 25
Orientation: Bisexual
Background: Cloistered Scholar
Sheet

Wordy-ass History befitting a bard
Sella's got twelve different stories for her early years, but they all have a common point of origin; a half-elf foundling, with naught but swaddling left on a doorstep in the cold of night. Where that babe came from is anyone's guess, since the town of Arles had seen maybe five elves in as many decades, and not a one of them recently enough to have dropped off their child. Nevertheless, she was taken in by a kind old couple who figured having raised twelve children already gave them a head up on a thirteenth. From there it's your typical story of a precocious, bright young girl being trapped in a little farming village. Well, no, maybe 'trapped" isn't the right word. Sella loves her hometown, and most of the people there. She loves her parents and her relations, old Merle who runs the feed store and always had a spare sugar cube for a pleasant child or a tired horse. Big Hugh whose heavy farmboy hands were as rough with ungentlemanly out-of-towners as they were gentle while dancing. Maltilda, the seamstress who could weave a story like she wove a rug - and they were damn fine rugs when you consider Maltilda was stone blind. Pretty Lacy, who could out-fight any of the boys but got bashful and quiet when she spoke to Sella. And she loves all the little towns across the realm just like it. No, "trapped" isn't right, but she was always out of place. It's a hard thing, being a skinny, dark-haired girl with pointed ears in a town full of big burly towhead farmers and frowning farmers' wives. Sure there's a certain level of pride to be had for hosting the province's hog-calling champion for fifteen years running, and a-yup the weather sure is innerestin' this time-a year, but...

But Sella knew there was so much more out there beyond Arles, and Chambord, and Thunne. The old guitar her Da had bought back from the fair in Chambord the year she was sick smelled of cinnamon and had the mark of the Brille Luthier guild on it. The dusty trove of books Miss Lynne kept in the inn ("Lynne's Inn" as it was named, or "Lynne's Den of Sin" as that old puckerface Rebecca Warsh liked to tut about it)  talked about wizards and trolls and had crumple-old maps of places that sounded too made up to be real, but were real. Every year or so, the Little Folk came with their caravans and jugglers and gossip from all over the realm. And when she was fourteen, Sella decided she was going to see it all! She was no fgool, she packed for travel, left a note for Ma and Da, and made sure she had enough of her own coin to pay for a spot with one of those caravans. And they say "wisdom of youth" sarcastically!

What all happened between there and her arrival at the door of The Academy at Byrthewood, barefoot, bald-headed, and smelling strongly of nutmeg with four silver selmarks in hand is anyone's guess - there's another dozen stories in there, and if you buy Sella a glass of wine, she'll spin you a yarn as fine as any. The point is, she dragged her bedraggled ass to that academy, and through three of her four silver coin and a wit like a whip, managed to gain admittance. The last silver went towards a bath and a decent dress; her classmates still remember Lightfoot Lampwick treading barefoot through the library like some sort of deranged scholastic fairy. Oh, how she devoured those books, too. Scribe Poulun was astounded and mildly offended by a girl with "the dialect of a birthing donkey"who  could write her own name, much less read his library.  For several years she managed to scrape up tuition and survive both the schedule and scholomancy.

Even so, she wasn't exactly what you might call... scholar material. She was certainly a bright student, but could you really see Sella content to transcribe books forever? Can you see her penning treatises about the finer points of the arc of a magic missile? Who would ever want Sella as their court apothecary? No, she was too restless, too eager, and - let's be really honest here, being smart and being wise are very different things, one of which Sella lacked in. But still she was learned, and she was talented... So when the Heroes of Destiny stopped by to research their Great Foe, it was no difficulty for the faculty to get them to accept a tagalong. And since Sella certainly wasn't suffering a shortage of brains, she saw great opportunity to take on the world on her own terms. or at least, something near her own terms.

She fell under the wing of High Archmagus Tander Xavien Albercroff, the group's high wizard. he wanted someone to manage his books. What he got was a bright-eyed minstrel who loved writing songs about his exploits... but was still too damn good at keeping his scrolls in lien and his inkwell supplied to dismiss. Sella maintains that he didn't entirely hate her songs. Well. he actually did hat the one about how he defeated the rogue Silver Dragon Sandelizostros... and the awkward moment when a year and a half later, she came into the camp and presented the newest member of the Albercroff family line to everyone, but that was just one song. And everyone else loved it (all the more because it was true. And Tander was mostly annoyed at the dragon for gossiping about him in the first place...) She was halfway through penning the biography of High Lord Champion Barbarian Guy (if you think kings have lots of names, talk to a barbarian chieftain.) when, well... that happened.

Sella refuses to believe that the Archmage was defeated by Geology ("it's barely even a real science!" was her first reaction) and holds that there is something much deeper working afoot.

She's been so busy since that she's actually forgotten to write back home to Ma and Da in Arles!

Personality
"I've read every book in the best libraries in the world... or at least like to say I have..."
Sella loves learning, truth be told. She would LOVE to thumb through all those libraries. She'd cut the tips off her ears if it would get her there, in fact. But that's not the point. No, the point is to know enough that you can say you've done this, and people believe it. A good story is worth the weight of every man and woman telling it after all, and enterprising bard that she is, Sella isn't above or beyond dropping rumor and gossip that lead back to her. Or embellishing things that coem her way. Just because she's not a great hero yet doesn't mean that she can't lay hte foundations of greatness beforehand. The same goes for her companions! Of course, caught face to face, Sella will just smile and duck her head and talk about her life as a potato farmer's daughter, and, well, it didn't exactly happen that way, it was more like this, and there was a prince from Orphalos that the story left out...

I'm willing to listen to every side in an argument before I make my own judgement"
Sella learned the value of diplomacy even before she left with that Halfling caravan; a small town like Arles, you have to get along with people or there will only be trouble. She went to the townsmoots with her Ma and Da, saw how things were handled, and even then was often surtprised by how wrong initial asdsumptions could be. Her short adventures with a luickless troupe of halflings who saw the world very differently than a vilalge of farmers was further enlightenment, and her time i nthe debate-heavy environment of hte Academy just sealed hte deal. Sella has principoles and opinions and al lof that, but she's not one ot just brush away diferring viewpoints or opinions; if nothing else you learn something about hte other person, after all.

Ideals
"The path to power and self-improvement is knowledge:
Sella always strives to be learning. about anything. She's a bottomless pit for knowledge. And the more things you know, the more you cna influence the world around you; how difficult life must have been before the first elf (because of course it was an elf) discovered the lever. How fascinating languages are! Of course the ambassador from Vant is actually a spy from Orphalos, Orphalenes count three with their thumb! Et cetera. Knowing things is the key to doing things - and even if you don't know what you need to do for a given situation, odds are you know what to do for something similar, which at least gives you a place to start.

Bonds
"I've been searching my whole life for the answer to a question"
Several in fact. Nagging at the back of her mind must be what bothers every foundling - who are her sire and dam (she knows who her mother and father are, but that's different.) The mystery there jsut makes that question sharper - how does a half-elf babe come to be on the doorstep of a town where the most exotic visitors are the occasional ginger-headed halflings? That's a tough one to crack for her, made worse by how small it is in the great scheme of questions you can ask; How odd that it's likely more possible to find a god's secret name for a forgotten paramour, than to find the man and woman behind a screaming baby left on a porch! So it's only natural that Sella has focused on those bigger, yet still easier questions.

Flaw
"I can't keep a secret to save my life, or anyone else's"
...of a sort. There's secrets, and then there's secrets. That is, some secrets are meant to be unraveled, they're mysteries, games of knowledge that you create in the hopes that someone does pick and weave t heir way through them to find the prize of knowledge in the middle of hte knot. And hten there are secrets that are meant to be locked up and buried. And sadly, Sellas sometimes gets the two mixed up. One of the things about her role in the world is that she spreads news. Bards are a font of information wherever htey go, full of news and gossip and rumor - And when you're in a tavern, telling a tale of something three towns over, maybe you say something. oh, you don't even know it, and maybe your audience doesn't know it either, but it'll pass around, from mouth to ear until it reaches someone who DOES know the secret... And then you've got trouble. In her efforts to build fame and reputation for herself and those she deems in need of it, there have.. .been a few misteps (that whole dragon thing, for instance. Great song. Wonderful bawd. Pissed off a powerful wizard and might have annoyed an old dragon. oops.)

Adventuring: Despite her wide repertoire of skills and knowledge, Sella is pretty new to all this. She comes fro ma little farm village, and has spent most of her teen and young adult years filling her head with knowledge. She had only just recently joined the heroic entourage, and scant months into the campaign, mineralogy rolled a natural 20 and left everything torn and tattered. Sella has made it her cause to try to gather up as many loose ends as she possibly can to tie them all back together and get things "back on track"... but it's been hard-going.
(That is, I kind of see her as one of the characters "closer" to the original "Heroes of Destiny" who is now sort of doing a recruitment drive to pick up hardy and willing people who can pick up the pieces. Trouble is... She's basically just an over-educated guitarist who can throw some cute cantrips, and probably hasn't been very convincing for the Mighty Paladins and Learned Wizards of the world... So it's up to the D-list adventurers!)

Skynet

Using Revised Ranger from here, and Razorclaw Shifter from here.

Haven't spent gold yet though. Also chose Gauntlets of Ogre Power for Redli; her STR is 12 otherwise. I chose the standard array, with a +2 bonus to Dexterity from my race/subrace.

*Notes: Which of the 3 Ranger Conclaves should I choose? I figure Deep Stalker may be situational, and Beast seems a tad complicated on account of having a 2nd stat block to keep track of. How often are underdark adventures gonna be in this game? Otherwise I might choose Hunter. Edit: chose Hunter after all.

Backstory
Redli grew up on the outskirts of civilization, the places which were on the map officially but most nations didn't bother to claim. Growing up in a commune town of settlers seeking to get away from what they saw as their old society's "decadance," Redli knew a life of hard work and meager living. When she came of age her parents sent her off into the wilds to live off the land for a week, so as to harden their daughter into an ideal frontier woman.

She did not fare well; she survived, but was cold and hungry. Redli thought that it was all over when a frost giant maiden by the name of Gredha found her. Offering her some iced beer and a place to stay, Redli was grateful for the offer and accompanied her back to her settlement. There she quickly forgot the ways of her frontier home, as the frost giants knew how to party hard. The catgirl awakened to a new life, and realized that her commune's lifestyle was holding her back from the joys of the world, but mostly beer and sex.

Redli and Gredha went on many adventures together, an odd sight in many lands. Sometimes they'd earn the gratitude of townsfolk for sealing up an ancient evil. Sometimes they'd earn their enmity, whether from xenophobes scared of 'monsters' or when they bedded the mayor's husband (at the same time; somehow that worked out with the frost giant's proportions). It was a hard life, but a fun one, one which allowed Redli's training to be honed while still finding something more than just labor and toil.

But Gredha hasn't been seen in a while. Apparently she met her end fighting some jerkass lich lord. Redli was sad, but she did not mourn for long. Gredha would want her to be happy, and honor her memory by doing what she does best; kicking ass and saving the day!

So given the prospects right now who have character sheets, I see...

Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Monk, Ranger, and Warlock

Pretty good in the "mobile fighter" department. And some primary casters. As for skill using, we'll probably be light on that note unless we get a bard or rogue. As for healing, my Ranger knows cure wounds, but as rangers don't have healing word a cleric would be nice.

Will have a sheet up tomorrow, but definitely bringing a Sorcerer to the mix!

Coming up with my Ranger-Rogue HalfElf!

We might appear to have 2 Rangers, but I'm leaning my char more to a Rogue-like skill monkey, a character who could be versatile while excelling in being a useful part of the team in terms of exploration and combat.

Relikai

Varian Silverheart, Half Elf 'Sniper', Ranger (2), Rogue (1)

Char Sheet

Magic Item - Bracers of Archery
Proficiency with Shortbow and Longbow, +2 to Damage Rolls when making a Ranged Attack with such weapons.

History -

Born off a male Wood Elf and a female Human, Varian Silverheart followed the name of his mother as they stayed in a forest village, which was populated by Humans and Elves. Born to understand nature and the land, Varian picked up some skills from his Father who was a Ranger in the past. His mother was a Paladin, but her skills were passed onto the other two siblings in the family. Varian preferred moving in the stealth and stalking targets, learning and understanding their mannerisms in an act of information gathering. These skills proved useful, as he was hired by a passing caravan to act as a scout on their way to the big cities.

Varian became an understudy to a fellow Ranger, a female human who has countless victories under her belt against bandits, beasts and undead. Remembering the lessons of his mother, Varian was intrigued by the ways of fighting the undead, and making sure that they who died stay that way. While his tracking continued to improve, Varian's mentor imparted onto him the secrets of combining magic with martial abilities to deal heavy hitting damage on his enemies. Shooting from the shadows, the two would often fall upon an undead infestation, Varian providing cover from the rear while his mentor cleansed nature of the undead.

A lich would soon come to know of their exploits, and Varian's mentor was ambushed while the boy was out gathering firewood. She fought valiantly, but ultimately fell to the horde as Varian looked on helplessly. Hiding from the undead, the Half-Elf managed to crawl to the remains of his mentor, picking up her bracers and promising vengeance against those who should stay dead.

Guancyto

Let's see here! Goin' down the line.

@tyr: Take average HP (at least to start with) instead of rolling it, just so we get a baseline. I'm in another game and there's a level 3 wizard with 9 HP...

Variant Half-Elves are allowed (Half-elf master race)

(Asked in PMs: You can't buy Uncommon magic items (at least not with your starting funds).)

@Chulanowa: I... may have heard of this Kvothe fellow, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with this scenario. It's also fitting for the Bard to be the one trying to assemble a new band of (dubious) legend.

@Skynet: Yeah, I don't foresee spending a lot of time in the Underdark (unless you all really want to go at some point?), so while Deep Stalker is pretty incredible for what it does, you probably made the right choice.

@TheLaughingOne: adorable destruction! ...huh, why do I feel like this party might be meeting the Big Bad a little sooner than is entirely level-appropriate?

@JoanieSappho: ... well, that's one way to keep it from being stolen...  :-[

And then a proper quote because it applies a little bit to everyone.

Depends a lot on what you have in mind! Really easy tweaks like shuffling skills around (which is usually my main sticking point for fitting class to concept, personally) would be a-ok if you're doing it to fit your concept. Something more complicated, well, I can promise I'll have a look at it. (I do like the idea of the barmaid in the Ubiquitous Starting Tavern, so a little bit of finagling to get it to work sounds okay!)

TheLaughingOne

Hahaha! Dont worry, Raivo is easily distracted from tasks, food, drink, cute tush, ect. They will draw away her attention long enough to keep them from trying to kick in the BBs door way to early, and despite bluster, isnt going to drag the party into every fight possible at the drop of a hat.. :3

... One way to describe her that kinda fits and comes to mind is Peridot. cept with more Rage then "smrt!"

Maize

Age: 18
Gender: Female
Orientation: Was Hetero. Now seeing the world in a new light and very, very Bi.
Race: Devil's Tongue Tiefling
Class: Wild Magic Sorcerer
Level: 3

Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down

It'd taken a lot of charm to get Durum the Blacksmith's son into the hay barns. Maize had fallen for the hunk of a boy like so many girl in the village but he was a simple religious boy who didn't get into trouble and had dashed the hopes of many when it was clear he wasn't going to even kiss before marriage. But if Maize was good at one thing it was persisting and through a lengthy and adorably twee courting process she'd managed to convince the boy that kissing was nice and sex wasn't something that Asmodeus created to tempt young boys into sin, but perfectly natural and something they should absolutely give a go. Eventually she convinced his penis that she was right and the rest of him inevitably followed.

It was totally worth it too. The boy's religious nature must have paid off because he was blessed and while Maize was enjoying herself a great deal in the Hay Barns is when it happened. The fire, the smell of sulfur, the giant horned man with blazing eyes and a booming voice.

Her first thought was "Oh shit, Mom was right. You really do go to hell if you do this" but it turned out that was only half true. As it was explained to her, she'd been summoned here (Naked and rather sore) because the horned figure before her was a a great sorcerer who had died and now had to pass their power on to their eldest child. Which was a girl named Lysandia who lived in a palace somewhere and not Maize so what the fuck was she doing here exactly?

Maize did not have an answer for that. She'd never known her father and her mother wasn't exactly forthcoming on where he was but she was pretty sure no palaces of any kind were involved. Now the demonic figure in front of her wasn't stupid, a missing father meant it only took a little quizzing to find out that why yes, as an adventurer many years ago he had indeed banged Maize's mother and that's when Maize was very adamant no more explaining was needed. None.

Karil (Her Dad! Demonic looking, not that evil, total flirt even with his daughter) was a little apologetic about leaving her in the sticks and a bit more about the whole dying thing. But his accumulated power was a gift that came with the blood it had to go somewhere and well... she'd have to work it out. He was dead now, not really his problem sorry.

Then there was fire, pain and a feeling like being stretched across the entire universe and then twanged back into shape. Unfortunately for poor Durum the Blacksmith's boy, very much not in the same shape she started. It was possible that he may never recover from having his girlfriend turn into a horned demon half way through sex, just like his mother told him. No amount of sorry notes from Maize have so far helped that, but she makes sure to send them when she can.

She got driven out of town of course. You can't just turn into a magic wielding demon girl and expect to hang around tending to the corn and convincing Adventurer's to kill kobolds. Especially when practicing her spells tended to end up with collateral damage and the occasional loose Unicorn. With no where else to go she's off to track down what's left of her father and his estate. Maybe he had some notes on how the hell any of her new powers work, or at least how tails are meant to fit into trousers and why she's suddenly finding girls just as attractive as boys. That'd be a start.

Hmmm... I'm thinking Princess Poonjab's tiara acts as a helm of telepathy. A wizard who once rescued her gave it to her so she could silently ask for help if kidnapped again. She discovered that it also helps with finding out the best ways to appeal to the baser desires of her various captors and rescuers.

To be fair two people have it already! It's popular.

I should work out how Maize got her broom. I'm tempted to say he left it at her mom's place and she's been using it for years completely unaware it's actually a powerful magical artifact worth more than their house that she was meant to trade so they could live in comfort and not, say, sweep floors.

The Ogre Power gauntlets are weird in that they're better for a Rogue or Caster, as a Strength based class is just going to get 20 Strength anyway and be better off. Only class I'd say it's anything more than a fun gimmick on is Paladin, where if they go heavy in Charisma they could use help with Strength.

Anyways if not too late I voice interest as well, so far going for being a squire one the heroes (a paladin or figther) and has hero's armor with him (deciding pick on uncommon item to be adamantine armor, going for full plate). Luckily, his largely legendary wife (more beleived to be a cautionary tale against marrying that little halfing girl who is wild in bed, cause she really is crazy) of so.e little infamy (largely due to that one story bout the battle of burglanchast hill, where the kings and generals of the opposing armies met to put an end to the battle, only to be mowed down by a rampaging dire bear, which many claim had a halfling girl on its back attempting to twist its ears off).

To this day there is still debate about her. Many claiming she is simply a made up legend to pull fame from the true heroes as her "exploits" are to far fetched to be beleived, the other side claiming she was created by the gods in a hurry, evident in how no living mortal could come up with stories that insane...

In another time and another universe, a man named Clemens said, "It's no wonder truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense."

Chulanowa

Mmmm, crazy halfling women. *homer drool*

But that gives a good base for Sella to work on a heroic epic about your character, doesn't it? Or... if not a heroic epic, at least a bawdy limerick. This group seems more the doggerel sort, don't they? Maybe a Punch and Judy morality play.

Here's my sheet... the outline at least. Sorry for taking so long.

I still need to fill in descriptions and background information, but I thought I should post what I have to make sure it's going all right so far. I'm busy at the moment and a slow writer, so I'm not sure I'll have time to get everything done by the deadline tomorrow... I am playing the barmaid though, so let me know if there are particular details you need, or if there's anything I need to change.

haha! I love the frying pan mace:3 reminds me of a paladin undead hunter i had..:3

Had a big ole shovel which stated as great axe, and his shield was a coffin lid.  served goddess of death, and got mistaken as bard cause he played instrument, threw wakes for the dead, and so forth.. Right up until zombies or something started attacking, then it was time to get to business;3

The world needs more plucky barmaids, fighting evil with kitchen impliments, a low-cut dirndl as their only armor.

Hear, hear!

CeruleanSerenity

Updated my sheet and spent my bonus 200 gold on upgrading my chain mail to splint (still imagining it as an apron or something similar, since I'd like her to keep the buxom barmaid in a low-cut dress look even when she's geared up), and I forgot clerics get a simple weapon, so I picked up a dagger... plus six tankards so the party can use that alchemy jug properly.

You know, I've known about that dress forever, but I had no idea what it was called until now... that will be an important bit of information.

Regardless, I agree.

Selections!

This was a really hard set of decisions; it was difficult to cut it down to this many (as hard as that is to believe), and would have been way more difficult to cut it down more. SO. There's going to be kind of a lot of you. You may have to spend time keeping each other happy.

Here we go:

JoanieSappho, with Peach Tanner Whisper Moonsoul Crowheart
Premier, with Maize
Chulanowa, with Sella Lampwick
Skynet, with Redli
Foxy Oni, with Princess Poonjab
CeruleanSerenity, with Rosita Amor

and finally

TheLaughingOne, with Raivo Tenn
