As far as character interests go, I think a wyvern rider might be fun. partly because I always wanted to try one. Partly because they're so underused. Not sure if we should divulge character info or ideas yet, but I'd be happy to see such discussion roll out.

Might as well. Even if our prospective GM changes his mind, no reason to not chat about it. Wyvern Riders are indeed pretty cool. One of my friends made one with a focus on defense to be our party tank/rescuer since we have no Armored characters. It's doing AMAZINGLY well.

Hmm. I want to go Archer > Sniper route, or Thief > Rogue/Bounty Hunter route. I have IDEAS for those, you see? :3

Silk

I could try being the GM, but I don't really have much to go on atm, and the rules escape me because its working between this playerset and the official rules I know form the game.

Revelation

I'm wondering if one can be built offensively. The whole upgrades to anti air, or crashing down on groups of enemies seems like it could be fun. But yeah, a well built and defended Wyvern Rider looks like it could be fun, though i'd try for a mix of offense/defense primarily. I can see how it would be useful in aiding allies though.

Latooni Subota

Yeah, it's easy to make an offensive Wyvern Rider. THey DO start with lances after all, and good physical stats. And just look at Wyvern Hunter! S Rank Lances and bonus damage versus all flying enemies! :O

after looking over that system I'd have to say that you went and complicated things beyond necessity with classes and weapons so i'll take my leave

>Overcomplicated

But . . that's basically Fire Emblem. All we did was add more variety to the weapon types so each weapon has three subcategories! (And remove knives. Kinda sad about that to be honest!)

Also, I didn't make it. I'm only a beta tester.

unfortunately I do have to agree with pend, but I'll still give it a go because it might just be appearance.

Latooni Subota

*Shrug* I don't find it complicated at all. Then again, it takes a LOT to confuse me with something like stats.

Revelation

I'm not seeing it as complicated either, but i've had some experience with annoyingly fiddly systems here and there.

Silk

Think of it like the DnD editions, second was overly complicated for what it did, making it a very niche market but also very indept for those who can grasp it. 3rd it was more streamlined, with a clearer idea of what was going on while still keeping some measure of complexity, then 4th ed which was massively dumbed down. This is around 2nd ed at the moment, when your trying for that third ed sweet spot.

pendarious

I'm a long time fire emblem fan and I have no problem with there being multiple classes and such nor do i have a problem with new weapons being added in for variety sake but the least they could do is not rotate the location of class tiers. and the like. honestly.

i apologize for this  rant that i'm about to go on alright?

first of all keep lore masters, enchanters, samaurai, spies, dancing blades, battle mages, and swashbucklers out of fire emblem they have never had a place in the fe universe. secondly why did they add a healing class for nomads? what's wrong with Nomad and Nomad trooper? further more Rangers were an upgrade for archers and mercinaries i don't question that. Third What happened to Halberdiers? Sentinals are third tier soldiers people! rangers as of telius were swordsman I get that that's fine too by the way. thieves become rogues and assassins only that's how it's always been. myrmidons being able to become assassins ala sacred stones was fine as well.

and Shaman should devide into two groups light or dark casting depending on the continent. Jugdral is the only continent where shaman cast light magic thank you. next trainee, Journeyman, Pupil and as of fe 9 Ranger are the only pre first tier units that should exist. further more what the hell is with these items? chrystals? what?  whoever made this system really needs to read up on their FE Lore and try to maintain the familiar classes and their promotions in check without making up new pre-tier units and erasing the existance of some tier two units and the likes. i don't care if third tier is supposed to be an expansion......you just don't screw with the way fe is set up people!!!

and this concludes my rant. I have nothing against anyone who thinks this system is great and i have nothing against the systems testers. I'm just stubborn and set in my ways. and a bit old fashioned in stuff so bear in mind I'm not trying to be an ass...i'm just raging against new things that offend my sense of that which should and should not be.

Latooni Subota

So you just don't like the changes they made for variety/balance then? And a personal taste conflict? I can understand that, no offense taken. I'll pass along your concerns, but the current beta test groups like it as-is, so yeah . . . probably won't change.

Mysterica

I will agree with a lot of what pendarious said, but I am willing to give it a shot and plan on keeping it going with what I know, specifically myrmidon - swordmaster.

Kunoichi

So, I got a sprite sheet done for my character already. ^^;

Latooni Subota

Oooh, I like it. Do you have a full-body character portrait to use too?

If I go archer then I'll use her: http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y331/ReverseAdonis/Crossbow.jpg

If i go thief I'll PROBABLY use her: http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y331/ReverseAdonis/1288769411614.jpg

Hmm.  Do I go for the skimpy outfit, or the picture of an actual Fire Emblem character...?

I'm tempted to go for the former, but the latter might be a little more fitting. ^^;

Latooni Subota

I uh . . kinda prefer the first. She just needs long skirts. X3

xD Alright then, the skimpy outfit it is.  Now to just downsize it and upload it elsewhere...

Edit: Aaaaand done.

Latooni Subota

Woo. This day just keeps getting better. I got a job at Gamestop! The hours are going to be almost nonexistant, but at least it's something!

Ooh, congrats. ^^ Here's hoping you greatly enjoy your new job.

Revelation

Work is always very good, as long as they keep you.

Now though, I am curious. The players handbook mostly focuses on combat, character creation, etc. Which is all well and good given thsoe are the most complicated bits of mechanical games. Are there any rules or the like for handling RP? Will there be obvious downtime in between maps/missions/etc thats basically extended freeform RP?

Latooni Subota

Yeah, between/during chapter interactions are always important! There's no big rules to govern the actual RP-bits, as well it should be.

Revelation

As I figured/suspected. I just hope any potential DM would not leave the game as pure combat/constant combat. The character interaction/developments of FE seem too important a trope/shtick to leave out, but thats definitely done best in a freeform manner.
