The year is 2280. The world has long since been devestated by nuclear war and left a fetid, rotting husk of it's former self. Yet, thanks to the large, underground vaults dotted throughout the country and other remote hiding places, the people of the United States still survive. They scratch out megre lives in the wastes, contending with radiation, mutated wildlife, harsh climate, bandits, and each other. But for our nation's capitol, things have been steadily getting better. Two years ago, a vault dweller known only as 'The Lone Wanderer' strode across the wastes, helping those in need and succeding in activating Project Purity, a device housed in the Jefferson Memorial aimed at making water in the capital wastes clean again. It took courage and no small amount of sacrifice to get it up and running, but it's not enough. The land is so far gone that it will take more than clean water if humanity can ever hope to rebuild.

We just might have something that can help.

A freelance military group known as Reilly's Rangers have stumbled upon an audio log containing information about a top-secret military facility hidden deep within the wastes. E-Den. It supposedly contains seeds and plantlife, enough to help spark new life in the wastes. It's here that you come in. You have been contacted by the Rangers and tasked with finding this military outpost and recovering any helpful technology or supplies from it. It won't be easy. Information spreads fast and the wastelands are harsh even in the best of times. You'll have to contend with giant scorpions, wild dogs, bloodthirsty bandits, and other hostile creatures.

It'll be hell. The E-Den, if real, could change everything in the wasteland. The one who holds it holds considerable power. Wars have been fought over less, and, as everyone knows...

War never changes.

I've had difficulty really getting my teeth into a game and sticking with it, but Fallout is just the setting I need to break the trend.

How exactly is this going to work?  Will the players' characters all be working together or will they be working against each other?  If they're working against each other how is PvP going to work?  Is there going to be a system?

Okay, yeah, I know it's only an interest check.  I figure I'm interested.  :P

MzHyde

Players will be working together, so there won't be PvP. There's no system involved, though the game won't play quite normally. It's going to be more 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style, where the group will get to vote on what they do.

I'm interested.

One question though, will it be 'realistic', or will people charge bandits with guns blazing, never running out of ammo and dual wielding pistols, miraculously recovering from rad poisoning and scoring critical hits on deathclaws?

I'm more a fan of the former, but I'd like to know what I'd be getting myself into before committing to a game. :-)

Jackalope

I'm interested. It's been a while since I RPed in a post apocalypse setting. Are we allowed to play multiple characters?

TheHangedOne

I'd be interested in playing as well. Though I am curious about the answer to Caitlin's question. I prefer it be closer to realism, though not super-gritty or anything.

As realistic as it can get in a world with mutants and ghouls. No multiple characters allowed, as I don't want the group to be too big.

Koekje

I'm interested in case you still need another body to put between you and the bullets of the enemy?

That sounds great!

And yeah, with realism I meant that the normal laws of physics are respected, not that we skip out on all the wonderful crazy things of the Fallout franchise. :-)

TheHangedOne

Nifty. I'm in. Will likely end up playing a sharpshooter type.

I prefer one-handed guns and crowbars in my post apocalypse survival struggles, although a nice sharp knife is also welcome. ;)

elfguy

I'm always interested in Fallout, so I'd like in as well. I'm thinking this time I could play a fairly petite, quiet looking girl, but extremely agile and deadly with a knife if provoked.

On a slightly unrelated note, apparently Fallout 3:GOTY Edition doesn't get along with Windows 7. So much for replaying it.

Belisuavious

Weird, it works fine on my computer and I'm running windows seven. Do you have it on steam or a hardcopy?

My character would either probably end up being a mid range guy to balance out the team. Chinese Assault Rifle for distance killing and a lawnmower bladed sword for up close.

      Console wins! Mwahahahaha!

Console 1, PC First Person Shooters 438.

Oh yeah, we're still in the game baby!

ausyandy

Hmm, love Fallout, need a distraction... I'm interested in this too.

Caitlin

I never got to play Fallout 3 since it refused to install on Vista (or at least allow me to start a new game), but I did play Fallout 1 and 2 a lot, and in general I'm a fan of the franchise for the past decade. I could even recite the entire opening song of Fallout 1 if asked. :P

I'll save you all from bleeding ears by not actually singing it though, hahaha! ;D

Haibane

I'm interested. Would a geeky sciency nerdy girl fit in? One who was very good at hacking computers and getting them/keeping them working and punching through computerised locks and such?

Weaponry would definitely be her sideline - she'd rely on others for protection.

Will you be using the map/area from Fallout 3?

Primarch

I know we're not using a system, but could we pick/reference a few perks in our character sheet to give our characters some proper Fallout flavour? Even act as guidelines to their strengths.

Caitlin

It'd be kinda cool if we had some sort of profile lay out yeah, and got the same kind of start points that we could spread across Strength, Stamina, Agility, Intelligence, Charisma etc. Even if it doesn't do anything for the game, we'll still have a good impression what the strengths and weaknesses of each others characters are.

It'd also be fun if we got to pick two skills that we specialise in, and maybe have a trait that our character is known for. ;D

Haibane

Why not just pick a speciality like I have (computer hacker). Someone could be a lock-picker, another a sniper, another could be very strong and carry the gear, yet another could be skilled at moving quietly and so be a useful scout. You do not need character stats if you design your character as having one major skill or ability.

What I dislike in RPs like this is players who design super characters who could beat the mission alone. That's no fun at all.

Primarch

That's true, but in something like Fallout its easy to tailor a scenario to a characters weakness if they try be the super winnar. If they run around in Power Armour with long range weapons you just have someone sneak up behind them with a power fist or a flame thrower xD Or put them at a door that's either locked or behind a tough computer. I usually play a ranger time myself. Was fierce pleased with myself in New Vegas when I got the Anti-Material Rifle & the riot armor/trenchcoat the Rangers wear. Went off hunting Deathclaws. But I was never one for computer hacking. :/
