Avatar File Types?

I uploaded a .png file to the wiki intending it use it as an avatar, but when I select the URL option and enter the image URL, it doesn't save.

Are avatar images restricted to the .jpg and .gif file types?

Most of the time, the issue is going to be size, rather than file-type.  Make sure that your file is no more than 150 pixels wide by 200 tall.

Makes sense. I double checked and it's definitely 150 x 150 px. Strange.

Does the beginning of the url say 'https'?

If it does, try removing the s from that when you put in your image's url. I've occasionally had issues with avatars (and I upload mine to the Elluiki) loading when the url read as https, but when I entered the same url, just with http instead, it would work.
