The Twin Hutts, Zhar and Ruhk, rose to unimagined heights of power in the years following the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of the Emperor.  Using an Acclamator-class Assault Ship, the "Jewel", as their base, they managed to seize control of an entire moon and spread their criminal empire throughout a hundred systems.

Kishor the Red was a mysterious figure who was rumoured to be connected a faction of the former Galactic Empire.  In 17 ABY, he put up a bounty of one million credits for the head of either of the Hutts, or two and a half million credits for both.

--

The Cantina was dark, smokey, crowded, and loud.  A group of Duros musicians played a variety of instruments as a Zeltron sang and danced.  Every table was packed except for one in the corner, where a Quarren sat next to a figure shrouded in thick clothing.  The Quarran was Rellius, your contact, you didn't know who his companion was.

--

This is a Star Wars Saga Edition game.  I am following the canon only so far as it is in the rulebooks, I am not familiar with the expanded universe books, and the game will deviate from them.

I am looking for 4 to 6 players.
Characters will begin at level 8.
Characters will begin with 50,000 credits each.
Characters will begin on the moon of Nar Shaddaa.
I am not opposed to Jedi or Sith, but they will need a good back story to justify their presence.
Ability scores will be rolled using 4d6, keep the highest 3.  You may roll 7 times, and keep the highest 6.

There are a few books I don't own, but otherwise I will allow the use of most of them.  However you will need to note which one(s) you used when creating your character.

This game will be in the Extreme section, and may include content to reflect this.  However please list your limits (and preferences).  I don't mind fading to black if a player isn't comfortable with a scene, and will try to take them to other threads if not everyone is comfortable with what is going on.

Crovonovin

Popping in to state my interest!  Probably something from hardier stock, or perhaps a droid of some sort.

elfguy

Well I'm a big starwars fan so I'm interested in this but I don't know that system, and usually stay away from system games. Is it fairly simple to do? Do I need to have a background in how the rule books work?

If I join I'd play a female twi'lek bounty hunter.
----

lorcan

lorcan

Ivy, would you happen to have the Uknown Regions Book?

ivygrowth

I am fine if people don't own the system, as long as they can write up a detailed concept and don't mind working with me to make sure it fits with the system.  Generally speaking I prefer to use the system as background, and mostly only roll for combat or when something could go either way.  In those cases, I am quite happy to roll for the player and describe the results as opposed to using numbers.

The rules are similar to D&D in some ways, the same six ability scores, feats, skills.  The main differences that come to mind are that skills are trained or untrained, as opposed to using points, and the addition of talents (similar to feats in some ways, but class specific)

Hmm, I think I have the unknown regions book, but will have to check when I get home.

mystictiger

I quite like the look of this, but I figure that I don't want to become an Ivygrowth groupie just yet - one game is enough, as otherwise you might think I'm stalking you! Good luck with it!
Want a system game? I got system games!

lorcan

If you do have the  Unknown Regions book would you allow a near human in?

ivygrowth

I do have the Unknown Regions, and Near Humans are fine.

Tonalberry

I've always wanted to join in on a Saga game.  How do you feel about Mandalorians?  I'm not sure how..plentiful, they are during the movies era, or after the movies take place.

ivygrowth

I don't have a problem with Mandalorians, though are they a species of their own in any books, or just near-human?

Crovonovin

There are several alien races that technically call themselves Mandalorians, but the vast majority of them are either human or near-human.

Muse

Mandalorians aren't a species but a movement.  I might go so far as to say, a philosophy.  :)

ivygrowth

Ah, okay.  The only thing I remembered about them offhand was that they were antagonists in Knights of the Old Republic :P  Though the Star Wars wiki seemed to have a long timeline for them.

Muse

The Knights of the Old Republic book for Star Wars Saga is fairly disorganized as a setting book.  It would probably be more useful to me if i had played the video games.

Nonetheless, it has a nice chapter on Mandolorians, their culture, philosophy, and the leadership during the neo-crusade twisted these things too allow for mass recruitment of the conquered, leading to the need for a cultural Renaissance thereafter.

When I find it in the morning I'll try and bring out some important quottes.

Ivy or I could Help you make a character and teach you the system.

Ok, I'll give it a try. I've got 'two' 'characters' on the wiki. One human and the other a near human. Both of which would fit into the RP easily.

lorcan

Okay well first things first will have to firgure out which star wars planet your from, So why dont you send me an im on E and will work things out cause i dont want to bog down this post with the work that needs to be done.

Tonalberry

Wookipedia's been helping me big time with Mandalorians.  So they're still around and thriving even after the movie's take place, so being one shouldn't be much of a problem.  But here's a question.  If I'm playing an actual Mandalorian, probably a mercenary, what do I have to do to start with some Mandalorian armor from the KotOR sourcebook.  They don't list a price, as they are Military, and Rare grade armors.

ivygrowth

In the KotOR sourcebook?  I don't see Mandalorian armour, just Mandalorian Manufacture.  Unless I'm missing something obvious, hmm.

Tonalberry

It's in the back, in the section where it talks about the Mandalorians in length.  Pg. 201 specifically for the armor.

ivygrowth

Ah, okay.  I would probably allow it using a similar suit of armour as the base price, adding in the jet pack or such, then maybe +10% on top, though I will have to look at it a bit more closely.

Tonalberry

The big draw for me for a set of Mandalorian armor is mainly the upgrade slots.  I'll probably go with light armor.

Tonalberry

And considering how Mandalorian light armors are better than some regular medium armors, then throw in the jetpack, helmet system, and 10 hours of life support, I wouldn't mind paying 8 to 10k for a light set, and more if I decide to go with medium or heavy.  Also, should I go with all soldier lvls, dipping into soldier-based prestige classes, or throw in some levels of scoundrel?

ivygrowth

I'll look into it a bit more when I get home.  Up to you on the soldier/scoundrel thing.

For those interested, please PM me a character description and background and we can work towards getting the game started.

ivygrowth

I'd actually probably value the Neo-crusader Light Set at well over 16,000.  Stormtrooper Armour has similar stats for 8000, and if increased to medium armour would only have two slots for 16,000.  A suit with 4 slots, but still light, seems rather superior.  I could even see putting it into the 30,000s.  Hmmm.

Tonalberry

Well, in Scum and Villainy, there's Mandalorian Besk'gar.  It's 30,000 more credits than a suit of traditional Mandalorian armor.  A set of light besk'gar gives +5 to ref, +2 to fort, has a max dex of +3, weighs 10 kg., offers favorable bonuses to Persuasion checks to intimidate, though it doesn't say how much of a bonus, and lets you use your DR, if any, against lightsaber attacks.  The light suit costs 33,500 creds, though it also says gamemasters can reduce the cost for true Mandalorian characters.

ivygrowth

I'll put the price for Neo-crusader Light at 36,000.

Dodge

I definitely want to get in on this. I know the system pretty well, and I'm a huge Star Wars nerd. How much naughty stuff is going to be in this game? The answer won't affect my desire to play, but it might affect my character ;)

ivygrowth

I don't actually have a specific amount of naughty stuff in mind.  It would really depend on how the characters act and how the rolls go.   ;)

For those interested, please PM me a character concept/background and, once that is approved, a character sheet.

Umbral Sanguinus

Submitted mine... hope to see this get off the ground!

Ivygrowth, is purchasing a starship a worthwhile use of our creds, or is that not going come into play?

Dodge

Also, a question regarding continuity: Up to this 17ABY date, are you following established EU (outside of your Hutts, of course), such the New Republic beginning to rule the galaxy, or are we doing something different?

ivygrowth

A ship could be useful, though I will provide a junker for the group's use at the very least.  Anything better would have to be purchased or 'borrowed'.  How much it ends up being used, and in what fashion, would depend on the character's choices.

--

I am seeing the galaxy as being in flux, with the New Republic being a powerful but not dominant faction, and various groups of the former Empire still in existence as well as other groups.  I am not familiar with the various books, and while I do try to do research, the game's plot comes first.  I chose 17 ABY because it was before the Yuuzhan Vong War, as well as before the peace treaty between the Imperials and New Republic.  But also long after the movies.

lorcan

Hmm well looks like i  better throw my two sense in since i was also looking into getting a ship. I was just waiting on a thumbs up or thumbs down on the wealth talent. So dodge if you want to work together on that i would be willing to come to some type of agreement that makes us both content id be more then happy to.

Dodge

I wasn't the one who wanted a ship, but I'm definitely up for having past history with your character--I find that it makes the game more enjoyable.

If there's still room in this I've got a twi'lek smuggler hottie turned Jedi-in-training complete with a ship and full homemade deckplans all ready to go. Well, need to adapt to Saga edition, but...

I'll PM you what I have, GM, and you can let me know if the basics work enough. If they do, then I'll look into adapting her over to Saga.

Also, for the record, I'm not fixated on playing a Jedi, so I could go full smuggler. I do feel that Star Wars needs that aspect, so someone should, even if it's not me! :)

Anathanasia

It looks like I'm tentatively on the hook to play a Jedi in the party, and a ship owner...not sure both roles should be filled by the same character, even if it's mine, but I'll handle it if it's okay with the rest of the group.

A big thing about the Jedi part, before I commit to that, are we all in agreement that we will, Star Wars gritty and grey in mind, going to be by and large essentially playing heroic characters (at least Han Solo style reluctant heroes)? I have to ask, because I don't want to find my character constantly arguing with the party to avoid summary executions of surrendered badguys and crap like that. That'd really take the fun out of being a Jedi for me, if the party is one of my worst enemies. I have no desire to play as a Sith, either, so if we want to play a nastier sort of group of people, I'll happily limit myself to being a simple ship owner and scoundrel. :)

Thoughts?

I'm fine with that. My character's going to lean toward the dark side, probably, but he's not evil. Pragmatic and realistic, perhaps, but not bloodthirsty. As well, if you're the captain, he'll follow orders. If you wish, I can have been in your crew, Anathanasia. My character has a bit of an interesting history, so if you're down for that kind of thing, shoot me a PM>

lorcan

Well actually id be quite okay with Anastasia Owning the ship and have no problem with a Jedi in the party and if you wouldnt mind another crew member who is a Force Sensitive Surgeon and also owns a retinue of droids that would be helpful in aiding in the day to day affairs of the ship.

Umbral Sanguinus

Just an FYI that my character's background means they'll start out alone without connections to anyone, but I dont plan on being a "loner", just a complicated unknown past. And like Dodge, a few dark side points but still anti-Empire, anti-Sith type.
Ideas Roleplays Ons and Offs Apologies and Absences

Anathanasia

Yeah, Dogde, having a co-pilot on a tramp freighter is always good (as well as at least one droid NPC the GM can have all kinds of fun with?).

I'm still a little iffy on the whole thing, but the starship and Jedi parts of the character are actually linked in her background, so it's also easier for me to keep both as they were. Just some minor adjustments because the timeline is shifted about 16 years, and I'll be set. That and the time to write it all up...damn holidays!

Just, please, try to make characters that are at least heroic-ish?

(I don't like being demanding like that, but as it would really spoil things for me to play a Jedi and then find the likes of Boba Fett as my companions, I figure it's better to be up front about it.)

Im definately on the heroes side of things one who is trying to discover one of two things who and why his family was exiled and to redem the families name and to garner more understanding of the force. Also is a surgeon.

Just to be clear, are we not being hired by someone connected to the Empire to kill two Hutt politicos because of a bounty? Thus, are all the characters not, in fact, bounty hunters?
Ideas Roleplays Ons and Offs Apologies and Absences

lorcan

Id have to agree but I think what Anathasia is getting at is not so much that we are bounty hunters but the reasons why and the methods we go about things like not slaying an entire village of tusken raiders   while bringing down the two hutts.

Anathanasia

Lorcan is right.

I mentioned Boba Fett not because he's a bounty hunter (they're a dime a dozen in Star Wars) but because he's Boba freakin' Fett. "No disintegrations!" remember?

My Jedi-in-training character won't have the full benefit of the old style Jedi temple as she's learning from an old Holocron. One effect of that, to be somewhat vulgar about it, is that she's got to provide her own funding to do Jedi like goodie two shoes stuff. We all know that even that can get little blurry sometimes, so it's really more about method and motive (though that certainly doesn't equate to 'the ends justify the means').

I'm just saying, if there's going to be casual killing because it's 'easier', or open rapists in the party given this is an Elliquiy game (though I do hope for all kind of strange alien molestations to happen to my character! :-[ ), I won't play a Jedi.

To be perfectty clear about one point here:  I am not asking anyone to change their character. I'm asking for a consensus of what kind shenanigans we're going to get up to, so I can decide what to do with my own character.

That make sense to everyone?  :-)
