London United, it's one of the many soccer teams in London. They aren't as famous as the Premier league teams Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur but they manage to get as many supporters as The Queenspark Rangers another London team that plays in the Coca-Cola Championship. (2nd division in England) The good results of the last few years made a lot of sucess supporters. They all hope to promote to the highest division. London United is one of the big teams in the second division and is top favourit to get the promotion they have always dreamed off.

With this group of players they should be capable of getting to the Premier League but won't they get distracted by all the attention? Will they manage to keep their eyes on their goal or will the English tabloids destroy their careers. Most of the guys have sexual escapades with beautiful ladies in the clubs and sometimes they can't keep it inside. Tabloids will speak of huge scandals and the players might suffer from this new attention. Before they were only a minor players in the 3th division and since their promotion two years ago everything is going better for them. Now that they'll be playing for promotion is the press constantly around. They try to find things to write about and when they find something it isn't good.

There is no real plot or story for the game. We have to create it ourselfs the way we like it. There can be NC-play if some of the players want that.

Kristine

Hello, this sounds interesting :)
Football (European one) and Rugby are my favorite sports to watch :)

Think I could manage to participate in this.

Do you allow two characters per person? I could play one male and one female

ryanmcallister80

Sounds like an interesting concept. As a Newcastle fan, no stranger to bizarre off the field stories of late.

JackWhite

You can make a character already if you want.

Kaya

I always asked myself: Why is there no girl playing in any of the male leagues? Has anyone seen the women's world cup? Some players there would be able to play with the guys - at least that's what I think. How do you feel about a female player? Maybe for the left wing?

What do the others think about Kaya's question?

ryanmcallister80

Well, as a concept for the RP I don't think its a problem..

Has anyone seen the tv series Dream Team?

No but we had something familiar called 'Voetbalvrouwen' (wifes of the players)

ryanmcallister80

Ah, cool...

Well, I'm thinking of maybe of playing either a tough talking, hard tacking midfielder.. Who just happens to be bi..

JackWhite

Sounds good and I think that we can say that Kaya can join with her female soccer player

ryanmcallister80

Nathan Royle

Age: 24
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bi.
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 160lbs
General Physical Description: Tall and well toned, Nathan has black hair and brown eyes, he has dark (ie black) skin.

Personal Information

Personality: on the field he is a no nonsense, hard tackling player who will give his all for the team. He is a little hot headed sometimes and often gets booked for stepping in when one of his team mates is fouled or injured. Off the field he is also prone to get into arguments while defending the interests of other players, he has been known to dabble in the odd 3some with both males and females.
Occupation: central midfield.

Kaya

I know it's probably really hard for guys to picture a female player in a male team, but since I'm allowed to, here's the character. Note: This character is completely fictional.

Name: Leia Kubuki

Age: 22

Gender: female

Orientation: straight, but bi-curious

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 108 lbs

General Physical Description: Measurements: 36D-24-36. Leia is the daughter of a Japanese father and a Chinese mother, a combination which gave her very specific looks for an Asian girl. She is quite tall for an Asian, and her long legs enhance her breathtaking figure. Back in Japan she was the most photographed female player, and it is not hard to see why. On the field she usually wears her long hair in a ponytail.

Personal Information

History: Growing up in Japan where women's soccer (as they call football) is quite big, Leia stated playing at a very young age. Her talents ensured that she got spotted, and she was trained by the best Japanese coaches. While she already was a star in Japan, she was recognized internationally during the women's world cup in Germany, 2011, where Japan got the cup. Her most memorable game was the semifinal against Sweden, where she managed to score two goals, effectively turning the game around in Japan's favor. During the final against the US she became a hero when she equalized the score in the 117th minute, making sure that there would be a penalty shootout, which Japan won.

The international media was all over her during the world cup, and she got an endorsement deal with bwin.com, a quite lucrative one. But after the world cup was over, that attention quickly disappeared. Yet, there was one talent scout from a smaller club based in London, UK, who had his eyes on her. He travelled to Japan to see her play, and he convinced the management of London United to try an experiment. So when the offer came to transfer to England, Leia agreed with enthusiasm. She always wanted to try her skills against male players.

As soon as she arrived in the UK, the media attention was back. Quite a few papers were basically laughing about the idea that a female player should join a male team. Many others were only focussing on her looks, digging out every sexy picture she ever took. While Leia enjoys the renewed attention, she is disappointed that nobody seems to think that she could hold her own on the field against the guys. She is determined to prove them wrong.

Personality: Leia is a warm and outgoing person. She loves to be the center of attention, and she likes getting photographed. She makes sure that she always looks her best, she is a little vain when it comes to her appearance. She has no problem at all showing off her body (luckily for her, no nude pictures have been taken), and she is particularly proud of her big, firm boobs (which are in fact not surgically enhanced, although the tabloids believe them to be). If the club would ask her to pose topless for photos, she would do that. She has no problem showering with the guys, although she would make sure to wear at least bikini panties.

Occupation: Left wing usually, offensive or midfield

Specific football talents: Leia has a very fast sprint, she is able to outrun almost any player. She also is able to kick precise crosses. She is a good two-footed player, able to switch wings and she can strike with both feet. Her dribbling is very strong and blindingly fast. Her weaknesses are headers and defensive work, especially a physically strong man can go right through her. She is quite tough for a girl though, not easily injured, and she can take more punishment than one would expect.

I'm curious to see how Natan will react to his new teammate. Overly protective on and off the field?

Actually, I would expect any proper guy to react in some way if he sees a girl suffer a really horrible sliding tackle and writhe on the ground in agony. That is just one of the complications the team psychology department (if there is one) will have to deal with. Although I'd expect that to be a rare occasion, since the opposing team would normally be as hesitating to tackle a girl with full force as her team is protective of her.

JackWhite

You're character gives the game a special twist.

Kaya

By the way, how do the jerseys of London United look like? And would the management provide a special "girly" jersey for Leia?

Kaya

I won't start to discuss fashion here, but does it need to be yellow?  ;)

What about a more girly variant of the jersey for Leia?

Name: Jan Van Steenbergen
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Height: 6'2
Occupation: Striker
Personal Information

Jan was a Belgian player. He was one of the most promising youth players of RSC Anderlecht but when he turned 17 his parents decided to move away to England. There was no way that Jan could stay at his favourite club. He had to find a new club in London. It wasn't that hard, even the Premier League teams wanted him on their courts but he chose for the smaller thirth division club London United. When he was 18 he made his first appearance in the first team. So far he had made himself important by shooting the club to the promotion. In the Coca-Cola Championship he showed his value at young age and now with his 21 years he's one of the key players in the team. As he was the leading scorer of the team in the previous season the fans demand a good season from him again. He could be one of the most important players if London United really wanted to promote to the Premier League for the first time.

He has everything that a striker needs. Jan is a good header, he is gifted with a pretty good technique and is physically strong but he doesn't weight to much which makes him faster than most defenders.

Personality

He's a kind man who was well-spoken. These things made him the right man for the press and the team. Even though he was only 21 years of age he was the captain of the group. He was a real leader on and outside the pitch. He wasn't looking for all the attention but if they wanted him for those things he did them. Jan was someone you could trust too. He was someone that always helped his friends if they needed him.

yobo

Can I join as well? I have an idea for a goalkeeper.

Great. Will get the character sheet together tomorrow.  :-)

Rachubka

Aaaah! Crazy footy fan from Canada, here. :D

I absolutely love the idea, more so because there's just footy involved more than anything, haha. Problem is, much like Kaya, I'm not too keen on playing a boy. So, I got to thinking...

What if London FC is actually in a co-ed league? The status of the team is much the same as it would be when originally thought up, but it would make the idea of females on the team less... taboo. This also opens up a whole new can of worms in regards to the other team. Not to say that there would just be random 'scenes' on the pitch, but it there would definitely be room for more sexually charged encounters.

OR, if you'd rather, maybe there can just be another girl on the team? :)

Kaya

While Leia would not like another girl on the team at first (sharing the attention? nah!), I as the player am not opposed to that. I would still like Leia to be the very first woman playing in a men's league though, so maybe she can come in a little later?

I am not a fan of the idea of a co-ed league though, that would take too much away from the novelty.

I'd rather have Leia open the door for another female player by simply playing well. Maybe the new girl is already under contract, but her getting on the team depends on how Leia does and whether or not the press accepts this idea?

JackWhite

If someone has some time and is skilled at photoshop, I won't stop you from making a logo for our team. ;D

Stan'

Name: James McCall
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Height: 6'
Weight: 165 lbs

Country: Scotland
Playing Career: Clyde, Rangers, SM Caen, London Utd

Position: Attacking Midfield (Right/Left/Centre)
Personality/Abilities: At the tail-end of his prime, James was never one of the fastest players on the park, and that weakness has become more noticeable within the last season-or-two.  However, he is still known to put in a shift-and-a-half for the team -- and his wonderful passing ability still creates chance-after-chance for the men in front of him.  A guaranteed 10-15 goals-a-season midfielder (with very few of them coming from inside the box) he has an impressive sliding tackle and ball-winning ability for an attacking player.  He's the kind of player that defenders love to have playing in front of them.

A leader both on (and off) the pitch, James has one of the more dominant personalities on the team.  Known to be a heavy drinker, he's turned up at the training ground feeling the effects of the previous night on more than one occasion but has so far got away with it.  His previous employers (Rangers) shipped him out to France for a year in hopes that some time away from Glasgow would keep him out of trouble.  After spending a weekend in a jail cell (and missing the big French derby) his contract was torn up.  London Utd then came calling.

His biggest concerns right now is that a woman has joined the team... something which he has been rather vocal about.

Are we looking for club personnel/management as well? If so, I'd have a suggestion

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Name: Frank Hill
Occupation: Club management
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Orientation: (Very) Straight
Height/Weight: 6' / 175 lb

Personal Information:
Frank is a bit of an upstart. Coming from a working-class background, he had been a celebrated sweeper for London United in his late teens and early twenties, on his way to a pro career, when a bad training accident had stopped those dreams.

Around that time, he got involved with the club owner's daughter, eventually marrying her. After he had finished his studies, his father-in-law (could also be mother in law, to make for an interesting alternative) offered him a position in the club management. Frank promptly agreed to take over that position.

Personality:
Frank is a peculiar person to be with. He has fought his way to his position by all means possible and impossible. As a business person he is as tough as his playing style had been, slick, but charismatic. Around women, he can be very charming and flirting, which has lead to a string of affairs with other female staff, business associates and the one or other wife or girlfriend of a player.

Mmm. If that is the case, I'll just wait something out! The only other roles for females in this RP would be something like management staff, groundsmen, or just girls hoping to lay a player. Totally not my thing. :(

yobo

Here is my character sheet. :-)

Name: Erik Vikingstad

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Orientation: Straight

Personality: Calm and prefer to show what he is made off on the field instead off in the changing room. However, push him too hard and he pushes back, hard.

General Physical Description: About 2 meters tall and well-built, and don't mind throwing his weight around. Looks like a typical Norwegian with blonde hair and blue eyes. In combination with his name this makes him prone to nicknames referring to the Vikings. (If I can manage to find a picture I like, I will add it later on.)

Position: Goalkeeper

Former clubs: Viking FK, Vidar (loan), Sandnes Ulf (loan), Fredrikstad (loan), Ålgård, Dundee United, Woking and Nottingham Forest.

Background: Was once considered one of the biggest goalkeeping talents in Norway, and was capped many times at different youth levels. Not being able to break into the starting line-up in Viking, he had several loan spells gaining first team experience. He made his debut in the Norwegian Premiership for Fredrikstad as an emergency goalkeeper when he was 19, and after spending a year at Sandnes Ulf in the First Division, he was preparing to fight for a place in the starting line-up at Viking. But when he was caught sleeping with the managers daughter, he suddenly found himself out in the cold.

Only six months later he was history in Viking, and they agreed on a mutual termination of the contract. This was a real blow for Erik, since it had been his lifelong dream to play for Viking, and he played the remainder of the season for the Second Division team Ålgård.

After going on trial in several clubs, he finally landed a contract with the Scottish side Dundee United. But failing to gain a first team spot, he soon changed club again. This time to Woking, where he got the first team spot. Impressing in Woking, he was picked up by Nottingham Forest, where he played until London United bought before the season started.

Erik has a big presence inside the penalty area, and anybody who doesn't follow his instructions here will get chewed out. He is surprisingly agile for a goalie his size, and has a lot of courage. His main weaknesses are the tendency to try and hold to many balls instead of just getting them away from a dangerous area, and at times his temper makes him act erratic on the field.

I would prefer having it start with the pre-season. If the club brought in a lot of new players, with rumors of more coming in, there is a lot to play with. Especially if the latest rumor is that a girl will be joining the team...

Stan'

I agree with the pre-season start.  After all, there isn't a winter break in the Championship (considering they have to play 50-odd games in a season, it would be next to impossible.)  Maybe to spice things up, they could be on some kind of pre-season tour somewhere abroad?

JackWhite

I think a preseason tour in Japan is the best solution.

Kaya

It could be in Japan of course, but I'd prefer it to be somewhere else. I myself as the player am not as versed in Japanese culture than Leia is of course, and I would prefer her to rather be out of place.

She would probably not be with the team in the very beginning, since she played the world cup final and probably needs to recharge her batteries a little. But there can be rumors of course, and the management would be talking to her, having seen her performance just recently. She could also be in Europe to do the bwin.com photoshoots and commercial, and a meeting with the team can be part of it.

I'm sure nobody is going to bite your head off. And if you want to be on the safe side, play someone who does not know more than you yourself. An "ignorant" American investor, who has been talked into investing by our resourceful manager, and now she is worried her money is going to hell? Or she bought the whole club? A documentary film maker who wants to make a film about a struggling club (or the first woman in professional football, yeah, I'm an attention whore) without knowing much about the sport ("Offside again? Well, I could imagine contacting her after a talent scout has brought her to my attention, for example with a video tape (sorry, anachronism) of her world cup and Japan League matches. She could be contacted by me subsequently - whether during our tour, or in Europe is no big change. But she'd have to meet with me to secure that deal.

...An "ignorant" American investor ... or she bought the whole club? A documentary film maker who wants to make a film about a struggling club (or the first woman in professional football, yeah, I'm an attention whore) ...?

Kudos for those suggestions... Frank would surely like to meet each of them. He's always looking to secure a good sponsorship deal, or get some public focus on the team. And if the business partner is female, all the better.

I'd be fine with that. There can also be a test training, to see if she can hold her own within the team.

HI I'd love to play one of the team been a football fan all my life and played it most of my life. Oh and I'll get this out of the way I support Manchester United (spend the first 20 years of my life justifying my support because we won the F.A cup a few times and nothing else-spend the last 20 years of my life justifying my support because we win the league so often that people assume I'm a glory hunter.....) fifth generation United supporter going back to the days of Newton Heath........and relax

Will post a bio shortly.

Name:Connor Seaforth
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Height: 5'10
Weight: 79kgs
Eyes Hair/ Blue eyes black hair (short)
Country: Scotland
Playing Career: Manchester United 2 Appearances. Season Loans: Preston North End 19 Appearances 6 goals Royal Antwerp 12 appearances 5 goals

Rep Career Scotland Under 17, Under 19.

Position: Winger/Forward

Abilities: Blessed with explosive speed and fantastic ball control and a strikers instinct, Connor has all the confidence in the world (on the pitch). He's still learning to read the game and his crossing can be a little hot and cold (but is improving). Will get back in defence when required but not the best tackler and hes not confident when heading the ball. Slightly stronger on the right he's still highly dangerous when playing on the left side.

He can come off as cocky on the Field but he's a dedicated trainer and is prepared to but the work in to add to his undoubted talent. Signed for London United after speaking with Sir Alex Ferguson about his changes of making the United side over the coming years. Manchester United have added a clause in the contract that should Connor ever be available for transfer they get first right of refusal.

Off the pitch he's surprisingly quiet, he owns a small apartment a mile from the grounds.

Not a virgin but not experienced his focus has been football only...but this is London and theres a lot of distractions for a rich famous talented young man.

Not sure about the woman in the team he's seen her on TV and she's by far the best female players he' ever seen but the Championship is another level over and above anything she would have played before...he wonders quietly if this might not be a stunt....still she's a babe so the changing room will be a fun place to be

He wasn't even close to the sideline!")?

Oh wow, those are good ideas.

Yeah I can do something along those lines I suppose. I can see her being an executive or other representative (Field Vice President of Athletic Entertainment) or something on behalf of some sort of US based conglomerate or other business/investment firm or entity that bought a considerable share of the team. I'll see about working a bio and getting it up here.

Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Height: 172

General Physical Description:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Personal Information Scot MacAlpine was born in Edinburgh (Scotland), 45 years ago. Started playing football at school but when traveled to Glasgow for college he showed some real talent there and was quickly noticed by Rangers scouts. From age 21 to 24 he had briefly played for the club but was injured. Though the injury was not fatal, he didn't got in same shape again and his career started to go down, never reaching anything higher than "promising prospect". At 24 he was sent to Scotland's lower division clubs where he played another few years. At 27 he started to study for coach and at 35 became head-coach of his former club, Rangers. He succeed and even made the club past the UEFA Champions League group stage, but because of conflict with new management was made to leave. MacAlpine took charge in few average but well known European clubs but wasn't as near as successful as in Scotland and his coaching career slide down as well. That until he was appointed to London United...

Personality: Scot MacAlpine is no-nonsense, straight and tough Scottish type. He never draws back against using hard word or two and may be quiet a tyrant in the dressing room. Though outside the pitch journalists know him as the first row of defense for his player. No one is allowed to cross the line when there's something about his boys. Players know that and respect him, despite the fact that he can be quiet a son of a bitch at times. MacAlpine has family. Wife and 3 children (2 boys and a girl) and likes to live quiet life, never talking about his family affairs with media. Not that he is full of media attention that much. After all, his club isn't even in premier league yet, and all he achieved as a coach, was similar to what he achieved as a played... "Promising prospect" nothing more than that.

He is somewhat conservative in views, and was strongly against inviting the female player in squad, seeing it just as a marketing trick for club management, but being on good terms with Frank Hill, he agreed to test her during pre-season.

Occupation:  Head-Coach of the team.

How's this for a character?

Name: Nicole Williams
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight, Bi-Curious
Height: 5‘4
Weight: 100 lbs
Occupation: Executive Field Vice President Athletic Field Operations for the Northman Holding Group.
General Physical Description:
Appearance1
Appearance
Appearance

Background:

The Northman Holding Group is an American based global assets firm worth tens of billions of dollars and founded only a decade ago by a group of private investment bank executives who were given the nickname “The Jugglers” for their history of successful angel investments and a large amount of unconventional investments in disparate fields such as microfinance firms in North Africa and South Asia, maritime security companies in Southeast Asia, renewable energy operations in India, and a plethora of other seemingly random yet lucrative investments, the latest being a purchase of London United and becoming the largest shareholder in the football team.

Nichole is a reflection of the eccentric hiring practices and overall business practice of the Northman Holding Group. The talented niece of one of the Jugglers, Nicole graduated from Iowa University with a degree of Science in Economics and Arts in History while also serving in the National Guard. Due to her advanced placement in High School, she was able to graduated after four years, and serve in Iraq for a nine month deployment as a Financial Management Technician yet still managed to earn a Combat Action Badge for service under fire during convoy operations.

After college, she was speed lined through the hiring process due to her family connections and because her interviewers recognized she had a natural intelligence in her and after securing the provisional purchase of the largest share of London United, have commissioned her as the first Executive Field Vice President of the newly created “Athletic Operations Division” of the Northman Holding Group. Her job is to examine, study and ultimately report on the financial viability and opportunity with investing in London United.

While it’s curious as to why a young woman with little business experience and absolutely no experience with soccer, athletics (beyond High School and Collegiate sports) and having never traveled to Great Britain before except one Spring Break (it was boring) this also reflected the Northman Holding Group business philosophy.

Holding no pre-existing bias, and deemed to be a smart prospect, it was decided Nicole was the perfect candidate to review and report on London United, by enmeshing herself with the team and its operations. Personally, Nicole is extremely excited to visit Great Britain and fully invest herself into her job, and her new co-workers and yet is also completely fine with completely divesting from the Football team if she finds it economically or financially unviable and do so with a smile on her face.

Along with having no bias either way, Northman recognized another talent of Nicole’s, business is business, and that is always separate from every other consideration.

If that's fine with Neysha, I'd suggest then that her Nicole and my Frank enter the play together - a business meeting as a starting scene. Plans to hire Leia for the team would be on the table by then.

That'd make telling Leia of that offer the next thing, before we move the action to Italy.

If Kaya and Neysha are fine with that, let me know, and I'll get Frank's post up by then.
