That's why over here we've had a celebrity chef roll up his sleeves on the issue.
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

This is not news ... it's been known for years.

The only way to guarantee that your kids are eating what you want them to eat is to feed them yourself - and be aware of what you're buying.

No, it's not.  And I can't say I'd be terribly surprised if it was.  Everything tasted like chicken at my school, except the chicken.

The chicken?  It tasted like fish.
Doing better now.  I think.  We'll see.

An online friend is doing just that, and she's been called to face the school board, semi-officially accused of starving her daughter, because she puts healthy things into her lunchbox, which the kid throws away instead of eating. The board's suggestion? 'Give her what she likes' - that is, crisps and chocolate. Sometimes, not even cooking right at home will help.

Um. Where are the teachers?

And before I get lambasted with "teachers are not parents" and "education starts in the home", yes, it does. But the reason why we have schools to teach our children - and why schools have behavioral guidelines and disciplinary systems - instead of leaving them at home with a bunch of books is because children need adult guidance and, yes, adult supervision. It's the shared job of the teachers and the parents to help children figure out the basics of what needs to happen in life.

Eating yucky things because they are good for you is just part of growing up, and that school board needs to be taken heavily to task.
