Welcome, interested players!  I am sure that there are many reasons why you have clicked on this thread.  Perhaps you know me and might have been interested in what my mind had in store this time?  Maybe you have been seeking an interesting space game?  Or maybe just the title intrigued you?  Whatever the case, the concepts will be explained below.  Before we get to that, I want to make sure that you all know this important fact:  I am not a fast poster by any means.  As such, this game will be quite slow-paced.  The fastest this will likely go is maybe one post from every writer every one-to-two weeks in the main thread (the OOC would likely be daily depending on chatting and plotting).

So, with that out of the way, let's get to what you all have really wanted to hear:

The setting:

The setting where this takes place is known as the Tri-Galaxies, which are three massive Galaxies that orbit one another in a very stable fashion (I.E. they will never collide with each other).  These Galaxies are called:  Corkscrew, Moor, and Thunderstorm.  The Milky Way and the origin planet of humans are basically a lost mystery.  However, humans have inhabited the three galaxies and now are 8% of the entire species population (nearly 3 trillion people!), making them the most common sentient species in the stars!  The only species that come close are the Wol'Fare (4% of the sentient species in the galaxies), a humanoid species of Canine-like beings who often take the appearance of humanoid Wolves, and the Keegrok (2% of the sentient species in the galaxies), a large. reptilian species that stand about 8 feet tall with a powerful, four foot prehensile tail.  Of course, with nearly 5000+ species in the Tri-Galaxies, there are many sorts of alien wonders throughout, some more populous than others.  Of course, no other race makes up more than 1% of the total and considering that a population of 5 billion makes up less than 0.05%, most races make up less than that.  Despite that, many races have power and influence that makes their smaller numbers less of a 'disadvantage.'

Now, with so many races, how do people communicate?  Well, someone asked that same question a millennia or two ago and a system was figured out.  Known as Galactic Voices of Trade, or 'Voice' for short, anyone who knows one of these Voices has a high chance of being understood in most civilized areas.  There are a total of
Seven Voices

  • Voice One:  The oldest of the Voices, Voice Nine can be easily learned and communicated by any air-breathing species as it includes many hand motions during speech.
  • Voice Two:  Telepathic races prefer this Voice.  Those with no telepathic ability miss about 40% of what is trying to be communicated and have a hard time communicating.
  • Voice Three:  A variation of the natural tongue of the Wol'Fare race, it is somewhat guttural with growls accenting speech.  In order to speak this Voice, one who isn't Wol'Fare must pay close attention on emphasizing growls and whines else they miss-communicate with others who speak this Voice.
  • Voice Four:  A variation of Human English, it is somewhat different than the original as it has new slang terms that are similar to other Human languages.
  • Voice Five:  A variation of the Keegrok tongue, it uses many hisses, whistles, and clicks in place of many words.  This is a favorite for reptilian and insect-like races and, although humans and other air-breathing races can learn and understand it, they have to make special emphasis on the hisses, whistles, and clicks, else they risk miss-communicating what they say.
  • Voice Six:  A language for aquatic species, there is a very heavy emphasis on clicking, similar to the Human Morris Code.  Speakers of Voices Five and Six can learn each other easily, but Six is extremely fast-paced, so understanding and speaking it can be very difficult.
  • Voice Seven:  The newest, only created 1000 years ago, of the Voices, this is an attempt to create a universal language.  For this to work, every word has 3-4 equivalents, at least one being a gesture or particular sound.  So, while it can be learned easily, the different sounds and gestures make this slightly confusing for those who don't know Voice Nine.
.

Money in the Tri-Galaxies vary from planet to planet, but a universal system of Credits has been established due to the need for a universal way of trading currency.  Credits are almost always accepted in various starports, but the prices of items may vary wildly.  For example, an energy rifle sold on one station may cost 8000 Credits, but the same rifle sold at another station may cost up to ten times as much!  Credits are exchanged by 'Cred-Chips' which look like large Jump Drives from Earth and hold the Credits.  Luckily for everyone, Credits cannot be forged, so one can forge a Cred-Chip, but it will never have Credits unless Credits are transferred to it through another source.  A Credit is the rough equivalent of an Earth Dollar, but one Credit is the minimal that can be paid.  Of course, even if one has no Credits, one can trade for Credits or other objects as long as they are willing to barter.

In the Tri-Galaxies, there are three major governments:  United Warlock Federation (UWF), Coalition of Free Species (CFS), and Citadel of Splynne (CoS).  These three governments rule the Thunderstorm, Corkscrew, and Moor galaxies respectively.  The UWF is an alliance of Magic and Psyonic species that promotes exploration and study of the universe.  There are many magical academies throughout the various systems in the Thunderstorm Galaxy.  The UWF is the most neutral of the three governments and will only officially engage in war if they are directly threatened.  Otherwise, Warlocks (magic users) and Psyonic beings are on their own when it comes to choosing one side or another.  The CoS rules the Moor Galaxy and openly engages in a massive slave trade that snakes its through all three galaxies.  The Splynne, very powerful amphibian-like species, are the rulers of the CoS and are known for their arenas where slaves, captives, and vicious beasts are set on each other for blood sport.  The CoS and the CFS are actively engaged in a very tense truce.  The CFS abhors slavery of all kinds and would normally open in war with the Splynne, but their own power isn't enough to defeat them in a full-on battle.  However, the Splynne know that, while they are stronger than the CFS, they would win at very great cost.  If the UWF sides with one or the other, then overwhelming victory will be assured.  So, while the CoS allows pirates, mercenaries, and all sorts of illegal activities to happen openly, the CFS are their polar opposites.  As of now, the peace has continued, but no one knows how much longer it will last...

Now, travel throughout the Galaxies is done by spacecraft.  Most spacecraft can achieve a max speed of 1-5 lightyears per hour, but more advanced spacecraft can achieve 30 lightyears an hour, however those are quite rare.  Now, not every ship can be in lightspeed, so most spaceships can achieve a max speed of Mach 3-7, with only the most advanced reaching speeds of Mach 20!  The only thing is that to go from Mach speed to Lightspeed, it takes about three minutes for the reactor to charge up to the minimum speed.  If it isn't already obvious, NO combat ever happens at Lightspeed unless it is between people in a ship.  Otherwise, no ship-to-ship combat can happen.

Finally, though many species have their own skills and abilities, there are such things as Magic and Psyonics (telekinetic power).  However, someone who is Psyonic can never learn Magic or vice-versa.  The same can be said of anyone who has any bionic parts.  Let's say that a magic user has been badly injured and needs to have his leg below the knee replaced.  He'll come to find out that even that much has destroyed his magical strength by 75% of what he could do before.  Any more than that will forever keep him from using or learning magic.  Even if he were to somehow replace the mechanical parts with newly grown biological parts, the damage has already been done.  This means that if a Human wishes to try to learn magic, he or she cannot have so much as a bionic eye because the mechanical parts will block any learning he or she can achieve.

Finally, it should be noted that Magic and Psyonics will NOT work if the character is wearing anything greater than medium body armor or is piloting a Power Armor (think Master Chief) or a mecha.  Obviously, Magic and Psyonics in the middle of ship-to-ship combat is impossible due to massive speeds and distances!

The situation:

The situation is simple:  The characters start out on a small station on the edge of a large nebula just slightly off the main travel routes (not enough to leave them totally isolated, but just off the beaten trail enough to not be a first choice for docking) in the Corkscrew Galaxy.  This station is basically a 'Grey Market' where things are bought and sold, most of it legal, but there are some illegal things.  Such things can be bought and sold so long as they understand that if anything illegal at all is even hinted to being linked to the one who runs Crimson Station, they will immediately be arrested and given to the authorities without question or mercy.  Otherwise, they can sell and buy almost anything.

Now, the characters will be on the station for various reasons, perhaps even have been born and raised there.  The main thing is that NO ONE owns a ship.  Gol'Fan, the Keegrok who controls Crimson Station, will send a friend of his to my character and offer him an opportunity as long as he can find a crew.  That's where your characters come it.  They can be almost any race, gender, orientation, and have their own goals and dreams.  Somehow, they are found by my character for their skills and the group meets with Gol'Fan who offers them 500,000 Credits!  More than any of them have ever seen in their lives!  They will use this to purchase a simple ship and still have perhaps 2,000 Credits each for personal things.  There is a catch, however:  Though there is no time limit for it, Gol'Fan will require them to pay back 1,000,000 Credits, twice what he has loaned them for the ship!

Now, they can do legal and illegal jobs to pay him back as they are free to do what they want.  However, if he ever catches wind that they have become pirates, he will send an alert to everyone who he has ever loaned money to in order to plant a target with a massive reward on the crew's capture or destruction.  In order to make sure that they pay him back, he will assign a robot who will take 40% of whatever Credits they receive for jobs and send it back to Gol'Fan.  If the robot happens to be destroyed, they have one year to return to Crimson Station and get a new one, else he will assume the deal is now void and will place a heavy bounty on their heads if they ever are in the Corkscrew galaxy again.

So, this story will start soon after my character has assembled the rest and they meet in Gol'Fan's office and learn of the Loan and deal offer.  Obviously, they'll accept it, so the adventure will begin there.  As one can see, there are many, many adventures they can get into with three Galaxies, billions of worlds, and the option of doing illegal and/or legal job ventures.

Game Rules:  These rules are non-negotiable
- Follow all of Elliquiy's rules
- Real Life always comes first.  If you need to step away for a little bit, your character will become a semi-NPC until your return.  Nothing exceedingly horrible will befall your character during this time.  However, if you need to leave the game, let use know in OOC.  We can then discuss how to tie up loose ends and figure out what your character's fate shall be.
- Please no God-Modding
- This is NOT a system game.  It is a semi-focused freeform game.
- Okay, we're adults here, so if there happens to be a problem, take it to PM.  Include your GM if things get too much, but once I've ruled something one way or another, that's it.
- No 'Mary Sues' or 'Gary Stues!'  Your character isn't a perfect person who can do any and everything without effort.
- Magic and Psyonics will be looked at very closely since they have the potential to be extremely powerful.  These characters must have some kind of limitations!
- OC Characters only!
- Minimal character age is 18, no exceptions!
- Although this game will go into the Extreme section of E, sex will not be the focus.  If sex does happen, I ask that you respect each player's Ons and Offs.

Character Sheet
Character Rules:
- Only one character is allowed per player.
- Characters can be Human or an alien species.  However, please, please, please run an alien species by be first!
- This game is open to ALL genders, races/ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc.
- Connections between characters are not only allowed, but they are encouraged!  This makes it easier for them to actually join up together as a crew!
- Although I don't mind a character having 'bad' traits (anger issues, stuck-up preppy, elitist, etc), I would prefer you not make a character that is totally an antagonist, however.
- Creativity, though not totally required, is highly encouraged.  After all, this is your character and I want you to be comfortable with him or her!  Just because the group may 'need' someone who has a few black market connections or a medical expert doesn't mean that you need to make one.  Play the character you want to play.
- Magic, Psyonics, and Mecha:  These will be very limited as the first two can be overpowered and the last is unlikely to be had considering our characters' start and the fact that I doubt they will have a ship big enough for a mech.
- Consequences:  Whatever you do IC can and will affect how a character or group handles the world around them.  Your character likes to collect jars of alien blood?  Well, things may not be so pretty for the group later on if the ship is searched!
- All characters MUST be, at minimal, eighteen years or older.  This is for everyone's comfort and peace of mind.
- Character Deaths MUST be decided beforehand!

Vergil Tanner

Player Name: Vergil Tanner
Character Name: Kayda Vendar [Note: May not actually be her "real" name. She's used so many, she's forgotten which one was her original one...but she likes Kayda, so she's sticking with it!]
Age: 24
Sex: Yes please! Oh, kidding. Female!
Orientation: Bisexual and proud!
Race: Human
Former Occupation: Working off a debt for some lowlife to keep herself fed.

Personality:
Kadya is supremely bubbly, cheerful, energetic and outgoing always ready with a joke or a flirtatious comment to attempt to lighten the mood. Though she suffers bouts of disappointment or petulance if things don't go her way (and the occasional bout of severe depression when her losses and her hard life manage to chip away at her sunny exterior some days), expect her to soon bounce back with a brand new round of sunniness and cheer that could make a rainbow vomit from nausea. She is friendly, cheerful and fiercely loyal to her friends, and surprisingly free with her sexuality; as she says, "it gets cold out there, so what's the harm in keeping warm with somebody you like every now and then?" Her cheerfulness can start grating sometimes, but she never lets those pouty-pants dampen her bubbly nature...when things get bad, just grin and find a way to fix it all! Getting sad and angry never helped anybody, after all. :-) Always look on the bright side! :D Face the darkness with a smile, and it will never truly win!

Voices:  Voices One, Three, Four and Five. Knows a passable amount of Seven.
Abilities:  Super adaptability! Well, not a superpower, but she's human and they're very...versatile, she guesses? Also, she's very soft and cuddly! Though she isn't sure that will come up that much.
Magic:  None.
Psyonics:  Her affinity with machinery and mechanisms and dodads - which she thought was natural and just a bit uncanny at times - would be, if diagnosed, labelled as a brand of "Technopathy" in that she can gain an innate understanding of how a machine or system or computer works and then manipulate it to her will...though she doesn't know that her abilities are psyonic in nature, they are. Of course, even without her Technopathic abilities, she's a gifted engineer. Spend a long enough time practising something and you're gonna develop a talent for it, right?
Bionics:  None.

Strengths:

- Gifted Mechanic.
- Perpetually optimistic.
- A people person, able to "Sunny" her way through most meetings.
- Surprisingly stealthy, given her upbringing.
- Loyal to those who earn it.

Weaknesses:

- Though she's optimistic and friendly, internally she is very cynical and that can cause her to think the worst at times.
- Though she's agile and sneaky, her physical strength leaves a lot to be desired.
- That loyalty mentioned above? She's loyal to a fault if you earn it, sometimes being unable to see difficult truths if they conflict with her image of her boss or friend.
- Sometimes her friendly and forward nature gets her into more than a little trouble as she pushes on recklessly into situations that need a defter approach.
- Surprisingly emotionally closed off. She's friendly, yes, but good luck getting close to her on an emotional level.

Background:

Perhaps surprisingly for such a youthful and cheerful individual, Kayda didn't grow up in the highstreets of some high class city-planet. In actual fact, she spent much of her early and mid-life as a street urchin in one of the many Pirate Dens that populate the dark systems and asteroid belts of the Tri-Galaxies after her parents were killed by a local mobsters Enforcers for not paying their protection money; no matter where you go, there will always be criminals and seedy underworlds looking to profit without the prying fingers of governments. She was taken by the Enforcers back o their hideout as “collateral” or somesuch euphemism for whatever they had in mind for her. When they got to their destination, she overheard their plans to sell her to the highest bidder and somehow managed to break free of her cell – she'd always enjoyed tinkering with machinery, and the transport that the Enforcers were using was NOT new or even in relatively good repair – and sneak off the ship...by the time they realised she was gone, she'd disappeared into the streets of the Colony...and promptly spent the next four years of her life in the gutters, dodging other urchins, what passed for authorities in the Backwater and pretty much everybody else until she was eventually caught stealing some food from a passing "Merchant.” It turned out, the merchant was actually a smuggler who trafficked in "Human Cargo," and who was on his way to a business deal elsewhere. He caught her, bundled her into his ship and took off with the intent to add her to his sale as a "Special Extra..." and that's if she was lucky.

After a journey spent cramped up with the rest of the unfortunate souls, they landed at their destination and were hauled off the ship and into line to travel to the Slave Markets. Just as they were entering the market proper....all hell broke loose. Gunfire erupted, people started to scream, sounds of fighting emerged from the centre of the grounds and smoke began to rise from ahead of her. Panicked, Kayda took the distraction of the guards for the opportunity it was and bolted as soon as she could, having been working on the locks on her manacles for months. She later learned that the local System Government had learned of the slave auction and had decided to "crash the party," but she was too far away by the time it ended for them to find or free her from captivity. So, panicking, she darted into a side street and just kept running, hoping against hope that she wasn't being followed. After what felt like hours of running, she stopped, looked around...and realised that she was alone, in an unfamiliar place, penniless and defenceless. This time, however, she wouldn't just be a thief and a beggar. She would at least find some way to defend herself.

After spending several weeks scoping out the city and making sure she knew her way around, listening in to conversations and watching the movements of the city carefully, she identified a low-to-mid level Streetboss known as "Jacknife" who was in the middle of a turf war and was looking for new recruits. Figuring that her only other option was to die on the streets from starvation...she joined up. There, her talent for stealing and her propensity for tinkering with anything she could find earned her a reputation for surprising people, and her surprisingly sunny disposition (as her mother always said; “Face the darkness with a smile, and it will never truly win.” She had lost everything, but she was alive...and she had to keep believing that she could make enough money to get back home to her parents...if she gave up, she'd never see them again, and she was not about to dishonour their memory by letting despair win), accompanied by her developing looks earned her a future in the gang. She grew from her early teens to her early twenties running with the Streetgang, stealing and breaking into homes and selling spare parts and pretty much doing whatever she had to to survive, getting good at fooling people with her hands, learning how to hotwire vehicles and how to tamper with engines and machinery and how to take things apart and put them back together, how to jerry rig parts out of seeming scrap and how to make do when you didn't have the tools you needed. Life was rough, it was dangerous and she didn't know from one day to the next whether she was going to survive another week...but that was liberating, in a way. She was free, she was with friends and you didn't worry about tomorrow. You smiled, you laughed, you fought, you got hurt...and you picked yourself up and carried on going as best you could.

Yeah, it wasn't the best life, but it was the best one she had known since she was taken from her parents. And all the while, she was slowly stashing away her cut of jobs, her loot, her extra pay and squirrelling it away to pay for transport back to her home planet...she'd disappear one day, that was her plan, just sneak off in the night and rocket off into the stars and back home. It was also during this time that she found the parts that would become the first incarnation of “Joe” scrapped in the bottom of some backalley skip...she and the gang were hiding from the muscle of the local crimelord after a small job had gone south, when she moved her arm and ended up elbowing the small little casing-and-wire-heap. The clang almost got them caught, but Kayda saw the little ball of wires and broken edges and instantly fell in love. After the group had escaped, she circled back, fished the damaged little droid from the trash, and ended up working on him every night she could. She got him working on the eve of her 17th birthday, and he has never left her side since. Life was...ok. She'd almost saved up enough to get transport back home, she'd gained the trust she needed to slip away...she was almost there.

Until one day, at the age of 18...she slipped up. The group had gotten desperate; the growing desperation of the Union against the Brothers of Sol had led to a crackdown on crime, making it harder for the group to steal what they needed to survive. Every week, more and more of them were getting caught and incarcerated, and the numbers were dwindling. Jacknife himself had taken a laserblast to the side just the previous month and died of his injuries. Things were getting bad. So....they decided to hit something far more daring and dangerous than ever before. They hit a weapons shipment coming in from the manufacturers from a nearby colony with the intent of selling them on to the local mob boss in exchange both for credits, and for protection and work. If they could get in good with the crimelord, then maybe they would be given new direction and protection from dwindling further. Kayda was a young woman now, pretty and fairly charismatic. So her job was to distract the guards while her friends stole whatever they could carry, then slip away before they noticed.

Everything was going well...until Troya, a younger member of the group, accidentally tripped an alarm. The rest of the group got away....but Kayda wasn't so lucky. When fleeing, she accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up facing a dead-end. She was dragged before the authorities...and was confronted with a Captain of the local System Military, whose weapons shipment she had tried to steal. She had thought herself destined for prison...until the Captain did something unexpected. He handed her off to a local Crimelord known as “Chainz,” after his fascination with vehicles and machinery – as it turned out, the Captain was corrupt...yeah, no surprise there; in that part of space, everybody was corrupt – who promptly put her to work in his garages and machinery shops, where he sold stolen or “appropriated” machinery to a variety of customers...the business also being a front for his drugrunning operation. He wasn't particularly big – he wasn't even middle of the pack in the food chain, basically being an errand boy for other, larger criminals – but he was powerful enough to make sure that there was nowhere on the Station he had taken her to that she could run. He paid her...but only just enough to cover the cost of rent and upkeep...which, of course, he decided the price of. See a pattern, there? She's been there for years now, trying to find a way out...and it seems like one might have just presented itself...

The Meeting:

Well, it's not every day that you meet a gifted engineer and technician who's itching to get off the station she's found herself on, who's also pretty cute, is it? She's known as the single best engineer on the station, and the only reason Chainz has been able to keep hold of her is because he's the one who imports the machinery and vehicular technology to the station...if he's annoyed at you, you are not getting equipment repaired, and you're not getting new stuff either. However, a certain captain with a ship might be able to whisk her away before he even knows she's gone...

Starting Gear:

Kayda has a basic collection of clothing, both casual and "Work related." In terms of her work-clothes, she has a simple pair of dark green overalls and a thick-ish welding coat (that she usually wears tied around her waist unless actually welding), a white, low-cut muscle vest and a pair of thick, heavy boots. Her casual clothes are a pair of faded, worn - but still serviceable - jeans and a slightly-too-small dark grey T-shirt (that she has two of), with the option to switch to a pair of jean-shorts if it's hot. She has one "Fancy" dress, gifted to her by Chainz when she needed to take somebody to a local shindig and needed Kayda's technical expertise on the way which is a simple black slinky number, and she even managed to swipe a sleek, expensive looking blue nighty-gown-thing from another Crimelords missus! That was fun. Finally (in terms of clothing), she has a pair of sturdy-but-worn trainers and a single pair of high heels to go with the dress...though she doesn't wear them that often. She's also managed to steal herself a relatively nice make-up set...no reason she can't be a good mechanic and look pretty at the same time! Besides that, she has a simple semi-automatic personal pistol and a small spherical droid that she's tinkered with other the years named "Joe." Joe has basic level AI technical conditioning, and is only slightly larger than a pair of fists pressed together. It flies using a pair of rotas on either side of its spherical form, and can act as an interface to a computer system for Kayda by releasing a small, fold-out screen that she can use as either a personal computer or a hacking interface. He also has a number of other basic functions - like an electrical tazer-like device, an inbuilt radio, a storage compartment, nail scissors and a bottle opener - but only things that a bored Technopath might add into their little companion over an afternoon of tinkering. Since he was cobbled together out of scraps and spare parts, he isn't exactly sleek looking with jutting out parts and a few exposed wires, and he does at times run a bit slowly or "glitch out." She's been working on him for years, but there's not much even she can do without proper parts or tools.

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

So, do either of you have a character idea in mind?

THERE WE GO, finally done. Any questions you have or edits you need me to make, let me know! :D
Heya, Vergil!  It may be a little bit before I can get to the actual analysis of the character.  I must say that Technopath Engineer is quite handy! Though, I think it's unclear, but how did she get on Crimson Station?  Was it this Chainz guy you mentioned?  Remember, no one has a ship at the moment.

It's explained, don't worry; she got caught by a corrupt Captain, who gave her to Chainz, who took her to the station which is his base of operations and general home. She's been there since she was 18, so about 5 years now. :-)

I do have a basic Idea of the character I want to create, I was thinking I needed to wait for more interest before putting effort into a character but it looks like the three other crew-mates are already here, so I guess I can start on it asap.

King Serperior

Great!  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Also, remember, it's fine to double up a little on individual skills, such as having two pilots or two guns experts, so long as everyone has ways to distinguish themselves from others.  I'm still looking at the character submissions before I 100% decide on my character.  I think I'm pretty sure he's not going to be human.

Maybe, maybe not.  All I know for sure is that he has no Psyonic abilities and doesn't practice magic of any form.

I will decline comment on such things, weird mood or not.  >_>

That said, for all interested parties, I have added something very important concerning the governments of the Tri-Galaxies:

As we start the game in the Corkscrew Galaxy, we will be under the rule of the Coalition of Free Species, or the CFS.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please let me know!

EDIT:  Also, to figure out what sort of Credits the characters have to start, it can either be 500 Credits, OR you can go to dicebot and roll a single 10-sided die and multiply the result by 100 if you are feeling risky!  :P

King Serperior

Player Name:  King Serperior
Character Name:  Greyzak
Age:  40 (his species can live up to 400 years)
Sex:  Male
Orientation:  Doesn't really care one way or another.
Race:  Grackle
Current/Former Occupation:  Pilot, Adventurer, Explorer, and lover of big guns.

Physical Features:  Greyzak is small for his species, being on the lower end of size.  He stands 7ft tall and weighs 625lbs.  As with all Grackles, he has a large, barrel-chested physic with a smooth, tough skin akin to rawhide that is a tanned leather color.  Grackle skin is tough enough that small arms fire (pistols of both energy and ballistic) does little more than leave welts and small burns (think a paintball hitting a human). His neck, upper spine, shoulders, and elbows are protected by short, tough, bony spines.  His head and body looks very similar to a dragon or a dinosaur, but despite the imposing physical features, he, like most Grackles, often has a snaggle-toothed grin.  His small eyes are often twinkling as if he knows some inner joke and has a deep, baritone voice.  Greyzak, as all Grackles, has a long, tapering, prehensile tail.  His is 10 feet long, which is short since larger Grackles can have up to a 15 foot tail and stand 10 feet tall.

Personality:  Like most Grackles, Greyzak is the strange combination of imposing physical brawn and a good-natured sense of humor.  He's rather cheerful, has a positive outlook on life, and is surprisingly polite and pleasant to those who have never met a Grackle before (think Southern gentleman type of personality).  It is well known that Wol'Fare and Grackles get along very well, but Grackles are often pleasant to any species except the Splynne.  More than anything, Greyzak loves to explore and fight, which is shown by his love of any and all big guns.  Greyzak has a strong sense of honor and will fight for friends and would be unwilling to stab even an enemy in the back unless the cause is just or a friend is in danger.
Voices:  Fluent in Voices Four and Five and knows Six well enough to understand it, but not speak it.
Abilities:  Grackles are quite fast and strong and have very sharp senses, having evolved from a predatory race.  Their skin is very, very tough and his spines can make for excellent unarmed weapons.  Greyzak has sharp vision, incredible strength, and excellent reflexes.  As a Grackle, he is very resistant to poisons and toxins and is completely immune to carcinogens and very resistant to heat and dry conditions, however cold makes him uncomfortable.  Grackles come from a very harsh jungle-covered planet, so they heal far faster than humans.  He can regenerate limbs and his tail at a rate of one foot a month until they reach full length and size, provided he is healthy.

Magic:  None;  Grackles cannot use magic, but he does like big, magical weaponry, even if he can't use them.
Psyonics:  None;  Grackles are never born with Psyonic capabilities.
Bionics:  None;  Bionics are of no use to him since Grackles can regenerate limbs and heal quickly.

Strengths:

  • Natural Regeneration:  Grackles are very tough to put down for long.
  • Affinity for large weaponry:  Greyzak loves big guns and is quite the intimidating presence because of it.
  • Pilot:  Greyzak can pilot most kinds of ships, as if he were born in a ship's cockpit.
  • Sunny Disposition:  No matter how bad things get, Greyzak always looks for the humor and fun, even while blasting alien beasts that are trying to kill him.
  • Good ties with Wol'Fare:  Grackles and Wol'Fare have considered each other allies for many centuries, so they generally will come to one another's aid.
Weaknesses:

  • Big and Loud:  It's almost impossible for a Grackle to not be noticed due to their size and the fact they rarely go for quiet weaponry.
  • Tobacco:  Sometime after Grackles and Humans met, the Grackles were introduced to Human tobacco.  Though the cancer-causing carcinogens have no affect on them, it is rare for a Grackle to not have a cigar of sorts in his teeth.  The smell and smoke can be uncomfortable for some.
  • Cold Environments:  Though Grackles are warm blooded reptiles, they have an intense dislike of cold weather and just cold temperatures in general.
  • Slow Regeneration:  Though Grackles heal fast from injuries, they regenerate limbs fairly slowly, which can be a hindrance because no Grackle will ever willingly take Bionics of any kind.

Background:  Greyzak was born on his homeworld, Gracken-5, the fifth planet from his system's star and the only one in the system that supported life.  Reptiles and avian animals ruled this jungle world in a near constant fight for survival.  With the reptiles of the planet being large and vicious, the Grackles started to live in their tree cities far above the ground.  Greyzak spent most of his early life acting as a guide for visiting people and as a guard, which was a dangerous and not very high paying job.

Eventually, a small mercenary group crashed in the jungles and he was one of the few closest to be able to save them from sheer death.  Though most of the mercenaries were killed by the crash and attacks by the local wildlife, but he managed to save six of them.  It took many months before the mercenaries were strong enough to leave the planet and a couple of years before they were able to acquire a new ship.  During that time, Greyzak felt responsible for the group and helped them earn whatever living they could until they could leave.  On the day they left, Greyzak left with them, which was the start of a ten year career piloting the mercenary's craft.

The mercenaries made their home base Crimson Station and patrolled off the beaten trail to take down pirates for Gol'Fan, but it was during their most recent run that an astonishingly large pirate vessel heavily damaged their ship, leaving Greyzak and his companions to barely escape and limp back into port.  Seeing this as a sign, the mercenary group sold their crippled vessel for scrap and went their separate ways, leaving Greyzak to work for the next few years doing odd piloting jobs on Crimson Station.

After a couple of years, Gol'Fan contacted Greyzak by his aid and offered him an opportunity if only he could find a crew.  He accepted the offer and spent the next week procuring those he thought would make for a good group...

The Meeting:  WIP
Starting Gear:

  • Medium Body Armor:  The armor is covered with harnesses and pouches for all sorts of ammo and weaponry.
  • NEX-10 Plasma Cartridge Rifle:  Looks like a large, heavy (20lbs), sleek shotgun with a 2-inch bore, it fired thick plasma cartridges that, on impact, explode in a plasma discharge;  It has somewhat limited range, but inflicts massive damage.  It can fire 20 shots before needing to be reloaded.
  • Z-8 Grenade Pistol:  A small gun for a Grackle, it's 6-clip size makes it a limited weapon.  However, it fires small grenades, making it dangerous to face.
  • VE-Laser Rifle:  The Variable Energy Laser Rifle can be quickly calibrated to fire shots at different frequencies, making it an adaptable weapon.  An energy clip allows for 40 shots before it needs to recharge.
  • Submachine Gun:  With a 60-round drum clip, this is basically a Tommy Gun.  It's more of a backup gun for Greyzak, but he likes how it feels to fire one.
  • Cigar Box:  A lunchbox-sized container, it holds 50 cigars.
  • A set of tough, well-worn clothes:  Basically he usually wears what could be a sheriff's usual wear from Earth's wild western era.
Personal Credits:  600 Credits

Character Ons/Offs:  Located here
Player Ons/Offs:  Same as character's.

Just so you know, I will now be pronouncing "Splynne" as "Spleen." Just because I think it's a funny sounding word. :P

Also, I think I'll have a bit of a risk and roll that Dicebot! If she has very few credits, I'll say she left with little more than the clothes on her back and what meager savings she'd been able to scrape together from the pittance that was her wages...and if it's high? I'll say she swiped some credits from Chainz on the way out as a "Severance Package," haha.

*goes off to roll*

...........well shit, I rolled a 9. I swear to Christ, I'm not making this up. I can send you the screenshot, and you can look at my rolls, I genuinely rolled a 9. So Kayda made off like a fucking bandit! She didn't just pick his pocket, she raided the garage, picked up some small-but-pricey stuff and sold it to people outside at a cut rate as she went just to spite the old bastard! XD

Also, "Grackle." Heheh. Funny word. As for his appearance...well, Kayda is nothing if not in possession of diverse tastes! Expect some heavy flirting coming his way. :P

Also, can I ask after each Galaxies mode of local government? Like, Solar Councils, planetary governors, any separatist or terrorist groups, rebellions, large pirate gangs, etc etc? I mean, with such a huge territory to control, not everywhere is gonna be the picture of civil law and obedience, right? And there are going to be politicians running things lower down than on the galactic scale, right?

If you want, you can take a screenshot and link it.  I rolled a 6, so 600 Credits.  The way I see it, 500 Credits is about a month's wages if you have a decent job.  900 is a pretty nice haul!

In that case, he'll take it in stride.  He won't turn down compliments.

Anyway, I'm hoping to finish the background overall for Greyzak fairly soon.  After that, I'll begin character analysis.  By the way, just so you know, Vergil, on Crimson Station, if Chainz is doing illegal activities, he can do so, but if he's caught by the station's security, he'll have been arrested.  The security won't actively look for such things unless someone has tipped them off.  Everyone who has spent a good portion of time on the station will know that while they can be slightly more open about things, they can't just put up signs saying they have illegal objects for sale.

That said, I'll get to the analysis, though you might have some editing to do in order to specify Galaxies and Stations she has lived in or on.

Seriously, though. The parts he sells are legit; he just has a stranglehold on the mechanical imports of Crimson, and uses the business as a front. Wouldn't do to draw attention to your front by having that front break laws!

You do know that I'll be making up names on the spot if you want me to start naming the places she's been, right? And even if I do, she's not gonna know them...when you're a street orphan, you don't pay attention to the name of the city you're living in, you pay attention to where the food is coming from. So considering that the names would mean literally nothing anyway, why bother making up names that nobody knows where they are in relation to everywhere else anyway? If you want me to name them, I suppose I'll have to, but I WILL be making them up on the spot. :P

No problem and that's perfectly fine.  No need to name places other than Crimson or the Galaxy she lived in (if she was in any other place than Corkscrew) if she didn't even pay attention to the Station names.  Not to worry at all.  Anyway, I'm going to finish my character and go over yours while we wait for the other character sheets, so let's not get anything lost in the weird moods (that'll be for the OOC thread!).

Elven Sex Goddess

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Here is my character submission.

Player Name: Elven Sex Goddess
Character Name:  2nd Lieutenant Ran Rankin
Age:  22
Sex:  Female
Orientation:  Bi-Sexual
Current/Former Occupation:  Unwittingly AWOL/Cadet recently graduated from the fleet academy in a unalign galaxy that falls in the fringe of the UWF.

Physical Features:  Height 5'4", Weight 136lbs, Hair Color; blonde, Eye Color; blue, distinguishing features;  Perfection is what best describes Ran.   At least in the physical visual category for humanity.

Personality:  Genius level intelligence, yet due to one of her cybernetic implants.  Which causes a inept social skill.   So despite the off the charts intelligence and a eidectic memory .   She comes off as the dumb blonde, dumber then a box of rocks.  The dumb jock or cheerleader in description  syndrome.

Voices:  one, four and seven

Abilities:   Genius level intelligence with eidectic memory.

Magic:  None

Psyonics:  None

Bionics:  Biokinesis  -  through Cybernetic implants
     *  Adaptation
        - Metabolic Efficiency; ability to purify body from toxic and poison substances.  Micro dialysis enhancement implants in kidneys.
        - Oxygen Absorption;  If their is any trace of oxygen in the environment she can breath, including underwater. Oxygen enhance micro        implant  in sinus cavity.
        - Heighten Reflexes;  Increase response time especially with hand and eye coordination.  Micro dispenser at the base of her stem at the back of her head.  That increases the body ability to adrenaline and time bursts to increase reflexes.
        - Bio Synch;  The ability to adapt her body in extreme environments and  survive for a few hours. I.E.  vacuum.  Micro processor implanted in left lobe of brain.  That can for limit time of  a few hours survive in extreme environment.   The recharge is based on body recovery of 24 hours a day.

Strengths:  * Combat fighter pilot
                    * Fleet Academy Hand to Hand combat training.
                    * Fleet Academy Basic Survival training

Weaknesses:  * Body flush, increase urination with it when has to cleanse (metabolic efficiency) with the    micro dialysis implant.
                        * When uses her cybernetic micro chip ability allows her to adapt survive in extreme environment.   She is physically weaken for a whole day of 24 hours.
                       *  The increase levels of adrenaline, which gives her the dumb blonde syndrome.  Causing a lack of social skills.
                       *  Because of the above weakness she unwittingly a wanted deserter from the fleet of her homeworld.  Which is nominally of the UWF, making her a citizen of the UWF and not the CFS.

Background: Ran is from a world that falls on the fringe between the UWF and CFS.  This world of humanity is known for its advances in micro and nano cybernetic technology.  Raised in a family of good standing.   Her aptitude tests off the charts. gets her enrolled into the Fleet Academy right out of high school at the age of eighteen.  Due to her flaw because of the micro implant in the base of her brain stem Ran's social interaction is hampered.  Awkward social interaction with her peers in any level of schooling.  Which really is a large factor to where she is now and currently why.   For one Ran in Fleet Academy finished at the top of her class in many things.  Which caused a resentment to be fostered among her peers, the other cadets in her class.   Such implant at the base of her brain stem is not common, due to the side effects.

These accomplishments included scoring the highest and setting the record in fighter combat piloting aptitude tests.  Top score in navigation and in response times while on the stick in the cockpit of a training fighter.

With a trusting naive personality,  her peers jealous of her set her up for a unwittingly desertion.   The other cadets with one working in administration pulled her initial reporting orders to the battle group and cruiser she would have been assign to.  They even went as far as having a fake uniform made up for her.  Telling her that it was for the most elite fighter combat pilots in the fleet.   To complete the prank, they even got her tickets aboard a civilian passenger ship to the  Crimson Station in the Corkscrew galaxy within the CFS.

One of the other cadets knew of  Gol'Fan, the Keegrok and what he does.   Not that he is anything well known.  The cadet has a relative that is trader and had mentioned the station and he who runs it.   So in her orders she is instructed to report to minister Gol'Fan.

The Meeting:  In her nice brand new sparkling uniform.  A very proud yet naive.  Would find herself upon the Crimson station.   Where she asked to see Gol'fan himself.   Of course with her social skills such as they are, she comes off as crisp and short as she is in her military protocol dealing with a superior.  Of course Gol'fan does not know or care who she is.

How she comes under Gol'fan radar of being known.  A small cargo ship has severe damage and the pilot is not skilled enough to bring in the craft as the automatic system is been damaged.   Hearing that they needed a pilot,  Ran volunteers to bring in the craft, she is ferry out to the damaged craft and boards it.   With skill and ability she is able to guide the ship in by using the propulsion in time short spurts.  Showing a savvy like veteran jock like ability in piloting the craft.

Now  this fortuitous event does gain Gol'Fan attention, who had not met with her yet.  Is impressed as he had witness this from control.   He would instruct one of his subordinates to offer a place in the next crew he is assembling to work for him.

Well hello there, Lieutenant Ran! Kayda and I are both willingly reporting for duty! Does Kayda get to wear a uniform too?
SORRY. Weirdly horny mood. >.<

Seriously, though, I personally like her. ^__^ An autistic - and therefore socially stunted - but brilliant fighter pilot? Nice. ^__^ The background reminds me of Miranda from Mass Effect, and we all know how badass SHE is. :D

Thanks bunches

I really did not think on Mass Effect or Miranda.    I did thou think on how much fun I had in a DC comics game when playing Harley Quinn and portraying her neurotic side.

You're welcome! Also, good to see you again! I hope RL has been treating you well! :D Haha, well, I look forward to seeing how you play Ran! :D

And sorry Serp, didn't see that post until just now. In order of paragraphs:

- They have to catch her first!

- I fixed the image! Photobucket was being a bitch, so I went to my Imgur account instead. :D

- Kayda: "Oooh, a wet T-shirt party? Here, I'll help!" *throws water on Greyzak*

- Um...no promises on that weird mood thing. >.>

An interesting character, Elven!  However, I think there's a misunderstanding about the first meeting part.  What that meant was what made her stand out compared to others that caused Greyzak to choose her as a member of the crew?

Anyway, I have the background completed.  No huge details, but it will suffice.

I'll begin analyzing character sheets very soon now.

@Vergil:  I don't know if you saw, but if you have questions about this:
Quote from: Vergil Tanner on April 25, 2016, 06:32:45 PM
Also, can I ask after each Galaxies mode of local government? Like, Solar Councils, planetary governors, any separatist or terrorist groups, rebellions, large pirate gangs, etc etc? I mean, with such a huge territory to control, not everywhere is gonna be the picture of civil law and obedience, right? And there are going to be politicians running things lower down than on the galactic scale, right?
..Then please feel free to ask!  You are correct that there are certain councils, groups, and other smaller governments that make up the Galactic governments.  For example:

The United Warlock Federation (UWF) is extremely open and every group that is a part of it have a say in governing the Galaxy, though the High Warlocks, five powerful Warlocks (magic users) and five powerful Psyonic Beings, are the top of the top and are elected by the whole every ten years.

The Coalition of Free Species (CFS), on the other hand, have what is effectively a single leader and his council of advisors as the ruling leader.  Above all others, freedom of every species in the Galaxy is the main focus, even if it means an iron fisted rule in some systems.  Their motto is 'The Law is harder than steel or stone, but it must be followed for peace.'  As such, they patrol through the entire Corkscrew Galaxy to root out pirates, slavers, black markets, and drug dens as well as hunting various other criminals.

Meanwhile, the Citadel of Splynne (CoS) is ruled by an unknown leader who rules everything without question.  If one does question or oppose the leader's rules and policies, they will likely be taken and added to the slave markets.  This is a total control that makes the government of North Korea seem open and free.  No one knows anything about the ruler except that they are either an extremely powerful Psyonic or Magic user.  Rumors even float around that the High Lord of Splynne is perhaps a demon or being from another dimension who has enslaved the slavers as its minions.  The fact is that no one knows...

Does that overall help?

It does :-) So how do local governments work? Who oversees the solar systems and individual planets / stations? And obviously the CFS patrols and roots out its pirates, but surely some pockets remain? I mean, you're never gonna stamp out crime or the black market, after all. We can't even do that now, and we only have one small planet to patrol. :P

In the way of local governments, most systems only have one planet that has life on it, though some have multiple planets with life.  Some lifeless systems have stations and colonies as well.  The system's government is decided by those who live in that system.  The same goes for colonies funded by a smaller government.  Stations depend on their size.  Crimson Station is one of the smaller ones, about 4 football fields square, so it is controlled by a single person.  Larger stations can be controlled by one person, a group, a local government, or the main governing body.  Small stations hidden away are favorites for Pirates, spy groups, bounty hunters, and other grey areas.

As for control over black markets, you are right.  That desire to wipe out all crime is what has weakened the CFS because they are spread so thinly and on patrols.  There's lots of holes where illegal activities can happen.  The UWF, while not actively going after illegal things, do not tolerate those who buy and sell knowledge for personal gain.  Information is the biggest thing that is traded there.  In the CoS, however, as long as criminal activity doesn't directly affect the overruling government, it is completely ignored.  Pirates and Bounty Hunters openly have their stations and ships.  Slavers trade beings and illegal weapons and deadly artifacts in open markets!  Death games are common everywhere.  It's basically a free-for-all, kill-or-be-killed, so long as the Splynne are not denied what they want when they want and no one questions anything they say, do, or rule.

Right, ok...so how does local system government feed into galactic government? How do the two relate, how do they interact? If - for example - one of them has an all powerful leader that brokers no argument, do the residents of said system still democratically elect the government, or can a dude with enough firepower set himself up as "in charge," and the higher ups of the Galactic government recognise him if it's in their interest to do so?

It honestly depends on a number of factors.  Is the system a treasure trove of resources?  Then the government will have attention to make sure no leader tries to take over it and refuse trade.  Is the system not profitable?  If that is the case, then it's a low priority.

Of course, this is talking about the CFS.  In the UWF, systems and species can join or not, so long as they have some sort of understanding or peace.  If a system refuses to trade or allow explorers in, then representatives are sent, negotiations are had, and if nothing happens, then the system is left alone unless they begin to declare war on a system that is part of the UWF.  In the CoS, the Splynne don't care.  Everyone knows that if the Splynne want to destroy you, they will.  It's happened many times before, entire planets glassed and destroyed because some species or government rose up against the cruel overlords.  Otherwise, everyone does whatever they need to to survive.

So, it depends on the overall government.  If there is a system in the CFS that wants to bully their way to power with weaponry, they'll be hard pressed to do so as the center of power is basically a fortress spread across an entire system.  Generally, if an all-powerful leader tries to lead, then that system's representatives are either forcefully recalled or are replaced to get what they want.  It's a delicate balance because such an uprising can be crippling if not done correctly and the right strings aren't pulled.  That said, this is what happens in the CFS.

Does that explain things?

Indeed we do!  So far, without having analyzed the sheets yet, we have:

- Greyzak the Grackle pilot and heavy weapons expert.
- Kayda the Human techomancer engineer who will soon be on the run from a gang.
- Ran the Human fighter pilot who is apparently going to be looked for by the CFS for going 'AWOL.'

Still room for other good specialties, species, and interesting things!

Welp, this has caught my interest. Now it's just a matter of putting something together in my head besides "SPACE PIRATE!" because no one wants to just be a space pirate. Though space pirates are fun.

Anyway, time to put my head to the grind stone and think up some cool things.

Well, in this game, being a pirate would likely get everyone killed.  That said, thank you for your interest.  Can't wait to see what you might come up with.

I find myself leaning towards "interested" in this, either with a Wol'Far, or something in that vein.

Alright, that took me long enough.  Now, for the first analysis:

Character Name: Kayda Vendar [Note: May not actually be her "real" name. She's used so many, she's forgotten which one was her original one...but she likes Kayda, so she's sticking with it!]
Might be an interesting plot point sometime in the future, learning her true name.

Quote
Former Occupation: Working off a debt for some lowlife to keep herself fed.
Such will be an interesting point of plot, though she will soon be under the debts of someone who is rather far from a lowlife!

Quote
So, a happy-go-lucky nature?  She appears to be a similar mindset to Greyzak's own laid back attitude.  Besides, humor is much appreciated in bad situations.

Quote
Voices:  Voices One, Three, Four and Five. Knows a passable amount of Seven.
She knows a fair number of voices, but since she seems to be of the mechanic nature, she needs them in order to communicate with the number of species she likely had to deal with.
Quote
So, she's a Technopath, but doesn't know it?  Sounds pretty fair since I doubt most humans with Psyonic abilities would know all on their own unless they were born in the Thunderstorm Galaxy.  Well, that would be quite interesting for a small plot point should they find themselves in Thunderstorm or run across an expert Warlock.

Quote

Sounds like some interesting points that can come up in a number of character building parts of the story.  I see no real issues.

I see no troubles with the backstory, but I did have a couple of questions about this part:
Quote
She was dragged before the authorities...and was confronted with a Captain of the local System Military, whose weapons shipment she had tried to steal. She had thought herself destined for prison...until the Captain did something unexpected. He handed her off to a local Crimelord known as “Chainz,” after his fascination with vehicles and machinery – as it turned out, the Captain was corrupt...yeah, no surprise there; in that part of space, everybody was corrupt –
I would assume that she was, at this point, on some station or world in the fringes of the Corckscrew Galaxy or perhaps the Moor Galaxy?  When she was handed off to Chainz, he took her to Crimson Station somewhere in the Corkscrew Galaxy where she now resides?

Quote
The Meeting:

Well, it's not every day that you meet a gifted engineer and technician who's itching to get off the station she's found herself on, who's also pretty cute, is it? She's known as the single best engineer on the station, and the only reason Chainz has been able to keep hold of her is because he's the one who imports the machinery and vehicular technology to the station...if he's annoyed at you, you are not getting equipment repaired, and you're not getting new stuff either. However, a certain captain with a ship might be able to whisk her away before he even knows she's gone...
I would imagine that Greyzak found her during the week he was given to find a crew while he was searching the repair shops and docking bays, asking around for good engineers/mechanics.  When he came across her, he offered her a chance and I would assume she jumped at it.  So, she needed maybe a day or two to get away and join up?  That would likely make sense, would you not agree?

Quote
Starting Gear:

Okay, the clothes are all fine.  In regards to the pistol, would it be an energy weapon?  Or ballistic?

As for the little drone, if it's really just full of random devices and isn't really an offensive weapon, it is perfectly fine.  *nods*  A basic A.I. is also fine, something that is basically at an 'animal intelligence' level as opposed to sentience.  As in, it responds well to spoken commands by its creator and anyone else who it is programmed to listen to?

Also, don't forget to add that she has 900 Credits on her person at the time of the game's start!

Oh, there will be pirates out there.  I am just barring the group from becoming pirates!

EDIT:  Since someone has expressed possible interest in a Wol'Fare, I thought I'd give some details about them:

Wol'Fare have their origins in the Corkscrew Galaxy and make up a large part of the CFS alongside Humans and a few other races.  They are well known for their strong sense of honor, though those who break the honor code the race has often are seen as oath breakers and must undergo many years of discipline before they can redeem themselves.  Wol'Fare stand between 5-7 feet tall and can weigh as much as 400lbs.  The race can live up to 120 years and, like humans, can learn magic and some are born with Psyonics, but those with such powers are less common than Humans with the same powers.  Bionics are common enough on Wol'Fare, as the same with a number of Humans, but some Wol'Fare flat out refuse changing their bodies from its natural state.  Unlike canines from Earth, Wol'Fare have very keen color vision and can see very well in the dark.  Their hearing and sense of smell is like that of wolves, making the race one of the Tri-Galaxies' greatest trackers.  Wol'Fare are also fairly fast, but can run on four limbs to increase their speed even further.  When it comes to weaponry, Wol'Fare generally prefer melee weapons, like Vibro-Blades, but they also like energy weapons.  Most ranged weapons also double as melee weapons for Wol'Fare often add a blade or something akin to a bayonet to it.  Wol'Fare respect the UWF and all but the most evil-hearted abhor slavery, thus will never join the Splynne or their practices.

That was the idea...she's been living in the Underworld for so long, she's pieced together understandings of the various voices by dealing with both other urchins and business partners and customers of her various friends, enemies and "employers."

Exactly! She knows vaguely what they are, but not enough - given her rough upbringing - to understand what exactly it is or what the signs are. :-)

Yeah, basically. I mean, she was on the fringes where corruption and lawlessness is more common, and got handed off by a corrupt local Captain who has more loyalty to his wallet than the government at large. :-)

Yeah, he asked around for a good mechanic and was told that Chainz was the best place to go for mechanical help (partly due to his stranglehold on the mechanical imports), and maybe he saw Kayda, had a conversation with her and was impressed by her stuff. She even maybe suggested ways to improve his ship already, apparently knowing the schematics off the top of her head...basically, he scouted her out and she impressed. Then, he offered her a chance to join her crew, but she loudly - and pointedly - refused, whilst glancing meaningfully at the back room and doing her best to nod both emphatically and subtly. Like "I AM AFRAID I CANNOT JOIN YOUR CREW, SINCE I AM CURRENTLY INDEBTED TO MR CHAINZ, I'LL GIVE YOU THE ADDRESS OF ANOTHER GIFTED MECHANIC!" whilst writing on a piece of paper, "FUCK yes, tell me when you're leaving and I'll be there, just be prepared for possible gunfire." XD

Quote from: King Serperior on April 26, 2016, 01:14:19 PMOkay, the clothes are all fine.  In regards to the pistol, would it be an energy weapon?  Or ballistic?

I'm thinking at the start that it would be a basic ballistic pistol that she's cobbled together herself, and as the game goes on she tinkers with it as she gets access to better parts and more shops and whatnot, customising it into her own little piece of equipment, like Joe. :-)

Pretty much, yeah! It develops animal-like behavioural patterns like loyalty to people who are nice to it, the ability to recognise threats without being told that they're threats, a basic independent decision making process similar to dogs and cats and whatnot, etc etc. I mean, if Windows can make a learning AI Chatbot NOW, I don't think that's unreasonable for a Technopath to develop over a decade, y'know? As for doodads, I was imagining that it would have a small storage container for her pistol (which is designed to fold up), and maybe a basic stun-gun or patchwork tazer for basic self defence. Nothing capable of killing, but something that lets it possibly get out of danger in the right circumstances. But offensively, that would be it; he's more of a pet / mascot and utility bot to Kayda. :-)

Alright, that all sounds good, though Greyzak wouldn't have been able to give her ship schematics at the time as he wouldn't have the Credits to get one until Gol'Fan meets him and the crew and tells them of the opportunity!  :P

Basically, once the crew is decided and the game begins, I'll have three ships for us to choose one of and that's what they'll be using, at least early on anyway.  However, ways of improving a vessel would be appreciated when they get it going!

I'm still workin' btw. Having a hard time deciding what type of former criminal my character is going to be.

King Serperior

Not to worry.  I went ahead and closed off interest until characters can be made and discussed.  If everything goes well, we should have a pretty nice crew.

Now, as for an ex-criminal, I can offer some ideas if you would like?

Alright, now to go over the second character sheet:
Quote from: Elven Sex Goddess on April 25, 2016, 07:10:28 PM
Would I be correct in thinking that what she is wearing is the false uniform that was given to her by the ones who disliked her?

Quote
Character Name:  2nd Lieutenant Ran Rankin
Current/Former Occupation:  Unwittingly AWOL/Cadet recently graduated from the fleet academy in the CFS.
That would be okay, though do note that it would be highly unlikely she will ever officially retain such a position in the CFS.

Quote
Personality:  Genius level intelligence, yet Ran is autistic.  Which causes a inept social skill.   So despite the off the charts intelligence and a eidectic memory .   She comes off as the dumb blonde, dumber then a box of rocks.  Naive and because of her autism submissive in nature.

Voices:  one, four and seven
An interesting idea, though be careful with the autism part.  Autism hits me rather closely, so I really don't like the idea of it being a 'weakness' and would prefer that you change it.  Other than that, I am fine with it.

Quote
Abilities:  Autistic - Genius level intelligence with eidectic memory.

Magic:  None

Psyonics:  Biokinesis
     *  Adaptation
        - Metabolic Efficiency; ability to purify body from toxic and poison substances.
        - Oxygen Absorption;  If their is any trace of oxygen in the environment she can breath, including underwater.
        - Heighten Reflexes;  Increase response time especially with hand and eye coordination.
        - Bio Synch;  The ability to adapt her body in extreme environments and  survive for a few hours. I.E.  vacuum.

Bionics:  None
Okay, first, I would like to say that, in my mind, those powers don't seem Psyonic in nature.  I am fine with such powers, but classifying them differently would make more sense.  There's two options for this:  Option 1).  She is an alternate Human, part of a society that has valued the hunt for perfection, thus, have used science to make them better than normal Humans.   Option 2).  Her 'abilities' come from cybernetic implants.  Each of those powers can be explained with cybernetics.  For example:  The Metabolic Efficiency could be nanobots in her blood, though such nanobots would need replacing after about six months.  The Oxygen Absorption could be explained by a cybernetic lung implant, which is a special chemical cell in the lungs that allows for an hour of oxygen storage if she happens to enter an oxygen-less environment.  The reflexes could be explained if she had an adrenaline implant that stores adrenaline and activates at will to heighten her reflexes and strength for longer than normal humans while the Bio Synch could be considered as a Bio-Scrubber that removes toxins from the body and allows her to survive in a vacuum in a 'hibernation' state for a few hours.

In truth, the second option makes much more sense overall.

Quote
Weaknesses:  * Body flush, increase urination if uses her psi ability metabolic efficiency.
                        * Where her psi ability allows her to adapt and be efficient with them,  when she uses them she is
physically weaken for the resulting corresponding  length of time.
                       *  Autism lack of social skill, which gives her the dumb blonde syndrome.
                       *  Because of the above weakness she unwittingly a wanted deserter from the fleet.
As stated above, I really am sensitive to the idea of 'Autism being a weakness' parts.  I really am not fond of that for my own personal reasons.  That said, with what I said above about the Psyonic abilities not actually being Psyonics, perhaps her weaknesses need adapting.

Quote
Background: The perfect baby,  perfect in every way physically.   With one major flaw,  and that Ran has autism.  Being autistic has not limited her.  Instead it helped her get enrolled into the Fleet Academy right out of high school at the age of eighteen.  Due to her flaw Ran did not have much social interaction with her peers in any level of schooling.  Which really is a large factor to where she is now and currently why.   For one Ran in Fleet Academy finished at the top of her class in many things.  Which caused a resentment to be fostered among her peers, the other cadets in her class.

To complete the prank, they even got her tickets aboard a civilian passenger ship to the  Crimson Station in the Corkscrew galaxy.

One of the other cadets knew of  Gol'Fan, the Keegrok and what he does.   So in her orders she is instructed to report to minister Gol'Fan.
You keep referring to being basically perfect in every way and I am not of the idea that anyone in the game being perfect.  Even if I wasn't against the idea of using Autism as a 'weakness,' having that one thing being the only 'flaw' for her is not preferred.  Other than that, Gol'Fan isn't very widely known outside of the small area of space Crimson Station is located.  As for what he does, almost anyone who knows him knows that he just owns a station in some backwater place in the Galaxy.

I don't mind that she was tricked into going to the Station, but it almost sounds that she is tricked to go there because it's a 'bad place.'

Quote
The Meeting:  In her nice brand new sparkling uniform.  A very proud yet naive.  Would find herself upon the Crimson station.   Where she asked to see Gol'fan himself.   Of course with her social skills such as they are, she comes off as crisp and short as she is in her military protocol dealing with a superior.

It is at this point that the practical joke would come to a end.  Or so they had assume.  She be found out and in prison.  Sent back for being AWOL.   However, luck or circumstances has the meeting play out in a different hand.   For at the time a crisis is occurring.  A small cargo ship has severe damage and the pilot is not skilled enough to bring in the craft as the automatic system is been damaged.   Hearing that they needed a pilot,  Ran volunteers, she is ferry out to the damaged craft and boards it.   With her autism and ability she is able to guide the ship in by using the propulsion in time short spurts.  Showing a savvy like veteran jock like ability in piloting the craft.

Now Gol'Fan who had not met with her yet.  Is impressed as he had witness this from control.   He would instruct one of his subordinates to offer a place in the next crew he is assembling to work for him.
As stated before, I believe there is a misunderstanding here.  I mean, what made her stand out to Greyzak while he was looking for a crew?  Gol'Fan wouldn't know her at all.  This will need changing.

Quote
Starting Gear: * Exotic costume,  military.
                         * Toiletries hand bag with accompanying toiletries.
                         *  Plasma pistol, side arm.
                         *  500 credits
Note;  Ran's proper uniforms,  ad her civilian attire have been transported to her true destination in her actual orders.
There are no such things as actual Plasma Pistols since plasma is unstable.  That's why it has to be stored in cartridges.  Even then, such things would be heavy.  More than likely, she has a basic energy pistol.

I know I have judged this harshly, but I would not be comfortable otherwise with this character.  My apologies, but there have to be a number of changes before I can consider this character.

There are currently six people interested in joining.  At most, I am only willing to accept four, however, if the concepts are good, I can consider accepting all six, but that would be pushing it game-size for me, so if everyone is accepted, please bear with me.

An interesting idea, though be careful with the autism part.  Autism hits me rather closely, so I really don't like the idea of it being a 'weakness' and would prefer that you change it.  Other than that, I am fine with it.

I have taken out autism and in its place used the premise of the cybernetic implants for as weakness in social interaction much as a athlete on steroids.

Powers have been changed to cybernetic implants.    As has the flaws are because of the cybernetic implants.

The referral to such reference of seemingly perfect is to represent she seems such but is far from it that even with her worlds penchant for advancement in cybernetics  she is far from perfect.

I don't mind that she was tricked into going to the Station, but it almost sounds that she is tricked to go there because it's a 'bad place.'
As stated before, I believe there is a misunderstanding here.  I mean, what made her stand out to Greyzak while he was looking for a crew?  Gol'Fan wouldn't know her at all.  This will need changing.

How a student known, is based on simply a uncle or other relative is a trader and has had dealt at the station and mentioned from time to time about the Crimson station.    So wanting to send her to a out of the way place.   It seem a evil yet delicious thing to do.    Now as far as her not being known to the Gol Fan  that is why the volunteering to bring in a trader ship daaged and excelling at it.   A skill like that does not go unnoticed and be a good hire or investment.

There are no such things as actual Plasma Pistols since plasma is unstable.  That's why it has to be stored in cartridges.  Even then, such things would be heavy.  More than likely, she has a basic energy pistol.

Changed it to energy.

I also changed her origin to a UWF world that is not wholly part of the UWF.    Perhaps because the world because of cybernetics does not produce pyskers or warlocks.    So since she not in the UWF.     Of course she is going to realize near the beginning of the saga that she has been duped.   An  her home world's fleet has her listed as a deserter and such could come into play in the future.

I know I have judged this harshly, but I would not be comfortable otherwise with this character.  My apologies, but there have to be a number of changes before I can consider this character.

I got no problem with the changes.   Thou  one autism is not a weakness.   However it is one in how others view them in such terms of interaction is what i was going for.   As said with reason for perfection is in regards in better description visual.   However I am easy and have no reason and respect your wishes so changed it in regards to the autism.

The reason for the powers being put in the psi,  simply because  I took them straight out of the white wolf  game psi game Trinity.    However I once again is easy and can work with how you see it.

If they're is any other changes needed let me know, I be more then happy to oblige.

Player Name: Ithnuul
Character Name: Aslan Hakan
Age:26
Sex:Female
Orientation: Straight
Current/Former Occupation: Currently just a simple gun for hire, but has a past steeped in extensive criminal undertakings she even served under major crime lords back in the day. People who nowadays would very likely want her head on a pike.

Physical Features: Aslan stands 5‘11“ has deep golden brown skin and amber eyes. Her hair is brown and very thick and long, resting in waves upon her shoulders. It could be described as a bit wild or unkempt. She somewhat wiry but heavily toned and muscled.
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
She has long scar running from her right cheek bone down in an arc to her chin.

Personality: Brash, opportunistic, self-centred.... Aslan isn't evil by any means but force and violence is all she's ever known, and through habit has become her Modus operandi. She isn't harsh or cruel but she has only made it in life so far due to her tendency to take what she can get and move before she can face the consequences of her actions. She's a drifter and a sell-sword and when's that all you've ever known what else are you to do? On the lighter side, she isn't some brooding malcontent, she’s excitable, wild; She's also boisterous and a lover of the simpler things like drink and song. She's fond of rough-housing, exploring, joking, or just sitting around chewing the fat with people she's fond of.
She may have a heroic physique but her mannerisms are that of a jackal, she often can be seen biting her lip or with her tongue out when she’s doing something she enjoys, She could be called fun loving, but her definition of fun may very well differ from yours; She enjoys explosions, destruction, fighting, and just generally sewing chaos. Something she gets to do a lot of in her line of work.

Voices: Four, one, seven,

Magic:N/A

Psyonics:N/A

Bionics:All of the fingers on her left hand are cybernetic for reasons she’s never revealed. The bionics are outdated tech made out of old discoloured metal of swirling bronzes, browns and silvers. A chassis made of small bars of the same material hooks around her hand to hold the fingers in place. These fingers give her no special abilities other than the continued use of her left hand.

Strengths:
+At her physical peak and fairly strong for a human

+Decent with knives and in hand to hand combat

+An amazing shot with small arms, particularity with handguns

+She’s a survivor, she’s been in enough situations in which she thought for sure she was going to die to the point that she has learned how to calm herself down and do whatever it takes to get herself out of it alive, no matter the cost.

+Due to her past experiences she very well versed in the methods of certain crime syndicates as well as their locations, identifying symbols and equipment. If the crew where to ever run into such people this information should be very helpful if not life saving.

Weaknesses:

+Can be a bit self-centred at times, especially when money or her well being is concerned.

+Very boorish and rough around the edges.

+Chaotic, known making big decisions on a whim, as well as never really every following a regular routine.

+Finds fun in chaos, or at least in combat.

+Morally grey

Background:Asland’s background is not something she talks about it is known she has had dealings with major crime syndicates in the past, but she has revealed nothing else and likely won’t even reveal that until she is safely off the station.

The Meeting:  She’s been grounded on this station for months at this point and is willing to say anything she has to get off it. She won’t take no for an answer and will very unsubtly reference her skills and abilities and why exactly you need her on this ship.

Starting Gear:  Most of her old gear was taken before she arrived on the station, so she had to scrounge up some gear over the few months she’s been grounded.

+A heavy laser pistol she keeps holstered on her side

+Some tattered light Armor consisting of a large worn metal plate sewn in to an old long sleeve military uniform.

+black gloves

+Black military grade boots (dubiously obtained)

+A large 6" combat knife she keeps sheathed in her boot

+400 credits

Yeah, I don't think there were any issues.  However, I do have a question about her drone:  What sort of power source does it have?  Does it need recharging?  Or perhaps it's powered by energy clips for energy pistols?  Or is there something else?  I would say that it is far too small to have a miniature nuclear core.  The smallest I would say that would have one such core is about half the size of the average human torso.

I was thinking that it ran on, like, a Fusion Battery or something that needed to be recharged from a Docking Station or something, but also had a small number of Energy Pistol cells for "Emergency Power" if it ran into a situation where its battery died and it wasn't near a charging station. When using Emergency Power, all non-essential functions would stop. Is that ok?

A fusion battery works.  It can easily be recharged from the ship's engines as well.  The emergency power is also acceptable.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Personality:  Phineas is a cool calm and collected individual. Never one to be goaded in to action. He has a calculating mindset that makes him come off as cold to some. In truth he is a very caring individual he is simply to wrapped up in his own self pity for most to see it.
Voices:  4,6,7 and 2( lose of his abilities still leaves him knowing its finer details better than most non-telepaths)
Abilities:  Phineas is from a baseline human stock though his home world has allowed for some genetic changes to take place over the eons. Ambient radiation from their star has gifted most of the population with psychic powers. Additionally through science and the rich environment of the world their average life span is 180 years.
Magic:  none
Psyonics:  none
Bionics:
Cybernetic eye: Right eyes has enhanced vision at both short and long range allowing him to see fine details on close items and telescopic (x25) vision at long range.

Situational Enhancements: Allows Fin to see analyze and process information at a rapid rate. Does not increase his physical speed though he might react faster than normally possible. He uses this implant in conjunction with his enhanced sight to analyze micro-reactions and body motions of others in a type of technological mind reading.

Right arm replacement: Most of his right arm and shoulder have been replaced. It is a standard but well made replacement. Installed in the arm is a data jack which links to his brain if wanted.

Strengths:
Psyonic Understanding: Having once been a powerful psyonic, Fin knows what to look for in others who have it, are using it or are under the influence of it. He cannot simply tell if someone has psyonic abilities but he knows what it looks like when one does. He also knows a lot of tricks to keep from being effected or to throw a psyonic off of their game.

Operative: Fin knows the world of high level operatives. How they usually think and do business. He even has a few old contacts still. He's been out of the game for a few years though and things do change.

Dead-eye: Not any help in close range combat but with the combination of his cybernetics and mental focus, Fin is a deadly sharpshooter with long range weapons.

Better than yourself: Fin can read people on an almost psychic level. His cybernetics allow him to do this in a much shorter time than he ever could before. If he can observe, or better yet speak with, someone for just a few moments he can usually determine their true attitude and if they are hiding something, making him an excellent negotiator.
Weaknesses:
Aint so big now: Fin was a big name back when he had his powers. As such he made a lot of enemies who were held in check with fear of what he might do to them. Now with the word out, he might get a visit from some of those people.

Depression: Fin is still wallowing in self pity over his accident. He hides it behind a cool smug face but sometimes he will disappear into his room for days at a time.

Owned: The corporation that repaired Fin after his accident seems to think that they own him now. Fin on the other hand knows exactly what he made for the company over the years and considers the books balanced.

Air of Superiority: He cant help it. Growing up a man of privilege then becoming one of the regions most successful operatives leaves one with a high opinion of themselves. He doesn’t openly show distaste for anyone but it just seems to emit from him anyway. Be it a look or a curl of the lip, Fin just tends to let people know they are below him. Not all people of course just the ones he has been forced to now live among. He keeps it in check during negotiations…usually.

Background:
Phineas was born on Marsden, a terrestrial moon of the gas giant Geado. His family was of high station due to an inherently high aptitude for psyonics. Each member developed differently in their abilities but it was known that the Voegel family was at the elite level. In his youth he was tutored privately in many endeavors until his powers developed to the point he could find his own path. To his mothers dismay his powers took a turn toward the destructive. He could bend minds past the breaking point and stop projectiles in mid air. His father saw the usefulness and immediately got in touch with his corporate contacts before the military could swoop in to sway Phineas into service.

Over the next 25 years, Phineas worked as a corporate fixer. The man that was called in when negotiations broke down or an employee decided to go to the government with information. Phineas would change their minds one way or the other. After a while the threat of getting a visit from him was enough for smart men have a change of heart. Unfortunately desperate men are rarely smart. Phineas was sent to secure an R&D researcher who was trying to jump to a new corporation. When he arrived they had already been told that Phineas’s presence might happen and were ready. Several trained gunman and one over zealous demolition expert opened up on him as he stepped out of his vehicle toward the researchers residence. To this day he isn’t sure how many, if any, of the men he killed but what he does know is that’s when his life changed forever.

In the aftermath a support team from Betawave Corporation was able to recover Phineas from the site and get him to medical care. Nine months later he woke up. He was healed but at a price. Cybernetics needed to be used to replace his right arm and shoulder Along with his right eye, sub dermal bone reconstruction was needed for his skull and jaw on the right side. The greatest toll was that in saving his living body, the doctors had taken away his life. Now longer able to wield the power he once had, the Betawave Corporation delegated Phineas to simple negotiations and disputes.

Crushed by the life he had lost Fin fell into a deep depression. Months went by as he simply went through the motions of existence. Then one day, while waiting for a meeting in a security room, he overheard the men talking about one of their colleagues. Through some series on unfortunate events, the man had ended up on Crimson Station. Then found his way onto a crew that was suppose to bring him home. They were set upon by pirates and the man had helped the crew repel them. He arrived back home with a sizable reward, enough to make up for being fired for being 6 months late from his vacation.

Phineas had an epiphany, if some wage slave security guard could make it out there on his own then by rights Phineas could be unstoppable. No more woes, no more family turning their faces from his disabilities, no more corporate assholes laughing it up at his new position in life. With 2 briefcases and a boarding pass he left the very next day and where else better to start than this Crimson Station, he thought.

Elven Sex Goddess

My new character submission
Here is my new character submission. I decided to scrap Ran altogether and create a new concept, since you have given us the ability to create different races in a way with so many worlds.

Player Name: Elven Sex Goddess
Character Name:   Ma'Maw
Age:  45
Sex:  Female
Orientation:  Bi-Sexual
Current/Former Occupation:   Adventurer Hunter-Tracker / Mercenary Hunter-Tracker

Physical Features:  Ma'Maw is from a humaniod anthro feline race.   She is approximately 5'9" and 188 lbs.   Soft fur covers her completely with a bushy thick tail and a long flowing silvery blue mane.  The silvery blue mane is over 4' in length.  Her coloration is from a dark gray with light blue cheetah like spots.   To a tan fur without the cheetah spots.  A curvy thick voluptuous body type.

Personality:  Inquisitive curious mind,  with a playful nature when one gets to know her.   For she is shy with others at first.    Once her confidence and friendship is gained,  they will have a loyal companion for life.

Voices:  one, three, and seven

Abilities:   Natural racial abilities of her racial species.

*  Scent -  the ability to distinguish individual scents with heighten sense of smell.
*  Night Vision  -  She can see in the dark but in mono shade of black and white in darkness.
*  Heighten hearing
*  Retractable claws,  that give her natural weapons.
*  Running -  Her race can get up to 50 mph in speed on a open plain.  For short bursts of a hour at a time.

Magic:  Racial inherent magical properties

*  Feather fall -  Felines are well known to be able to fall and land on their feet upright.   This is a inherent magic that allows such in her racial species.
*  Nine lives -  Like the land upright,  feline species are known for their nine lives.   Unless vaporized of completely destroyed.  She can resurrect from near like death or death itself.   As her body magically repairs itself.   This is not a infinite magical ability.   For it depletes the magical mana inherent in her from what race she is.   So thus is why it is called nine lives.   This has no effect on natural death of old age or its her time due to such.

Psyonics:  None

Bionics:  None

Strengths:  *  Skilled advanced Tracker/Hunter on world.
                    *  Longevity - compared to humananity,  approximately 200 year life span
                    *  Stealth
                    *  Domicile skills -  Cooking,  cleaning and other matriarch duties.

Weaknesses:  *  Her culture practices a poly mating.   Only mating mono for a time with the strongest (physical or clever) claiming the
best breeders.  Which can lead to a miss understanding with other species and races in the galaxy as for example
humanity and their mono mating practice in general.
                       *  Exhaustion - if uses her ability to run up to 50 mph,  she will become completely exhausted for 4 hours following such
exertion, 2 hours if she naps.
                       *  A horrible shot,  she could not hit the broad side of a barn.
                       *  Ma'Maw is on her eighth of the nine lives leaving only one more.

Background:  Ma'Maw world is a class pre-industrial age world.    That has just entered the phase of gun powder ballistic weapons.   For the most part the planet and race is left to advance at its natural progression before being brought into the CFS as a full member.    This does not mean that their is not contact with the planet and its native inhabitants.  For the race is well known and prized for its tracking ability.

Through it is not illegal to  poach.  It is frowned upon by the governing body.  Despite this mercenary cabals often poach members of the race from the planet for trackers and as scouts.   Ma'Maw is one such that had been poached from her home world planet.    That was over twenty years ago.   As she was poached by the mercenary group called the 'Sons of a Thousand Worlds'.

At first being from a pre-industrial planet.   The advanced technology is overwhelming for Ma'Maw.   But time and being around such slowly sheds that weakness of out right fear and aversion. To where it is more of longer time in comprehending such and being able to use it for her.   Also she learns that the the hairless apes cannot cope without putting coverings on.   Her race being anthro species.   Does not need to invest in covering i.e. clothing.   For if the clime is cold she would grow a thicker fur,  if it is more hotter clime her fur will thin for such.   This caused a few incidents with a few of the hairless apes races.   So she learn to cover her ample size mammary glands and genital areas.   Because most of the hairless ape races had awful ability and could not smell if in heat or not.   In her own rooms and at times in the close confines of the ship she will often wear just the bikini  and occasionally not wear anything.   It is a different story when she goes in the field she dons her armor.  An when they visit a port or station,  she will wear one of her dresses if her armor is not called for.    She also has a waitress uniform,  that she wears to work in when she picks up a odd job for employment.

The Meeting:  Her mercenary company became involved in a rather brutal on world dispute between two rival fractions.   With the side that they backed being crushed it became everyone for themselves.   Ma'Maw is able to make it off world from the planet.   However,  it signaled the end of her days with the 'Sons of a Thousand Worlds'.    Through hopping different trader vessels  she ends up at the Red Station.   'Che'et'Ahs'  is the racial name of her race.  She currently resides on the station likely having found a domicile employment as a server/waitress at a establishment.    Her race reputation as trackers and stealthy should land her a more adventurous employment.   For the time with the mercenary group has given Ma'Maw a adventurers spirit.

Starting Gear: * Bikini
                         *  Two dresses brown and lavender lace.  Both are open back that plunges to accommodate her tail.

Lavender lace dress
brown dress

                         *  Waitress uniform, short sleeve blouse and skirt that extends mid thigh.

Waitress uniform

                         *  Backpack with waterskin
                         *  Sears Roebuck and Co. Grenade launcher (4 shot clip before reload - loaded with a clip)

grenade launcher

                         *  2 extra grenade clips.
                         *  High tensile ceramic partial scout light armor

partial scout light armor

                       *  500 credits  At 2016-05-01 12:36:59, MaMaw (uid: 714) rolls: 1d10 Result: 5

Character Ons/Offs:  For Ma'Maw's bi-sexuality is green,  and water sports is red.  These are the variations from my O&O

Okay, unfortunately, pixel style art will not work for this game.  Do you have any alternatives?

Quote
Age:26
Current/Former Occupation: Currently just a simple gun for hire, but has a past steeped in extensive criminal undertakings she even served under major crime lords back in the day. People who nowadays would very likely want her head on a pike.
So, when you say that people want her head, do you mean that she is officially wanted?  Or that crime lords she has worked under wish her dead?  Either way, there is a chance that this could come back and bite her and the crew if she is identified.  Remember that we start in the Corkscrew Galaxy, which is controlled by the extremely law-focused CFS.  If you are fine with that fact and the fact that shady people and organizations who want her head will threaten the crew, then we can go from there.

Quote
Physical Features: Aslan stands 5‘11“ has deep golden brown skin and amber eyes. Her hair is brown and very thick and long, resting in waves upon her shoulders. It could be described as a bit wild or unkempt. She somewhat wiry but heavily toned and muscled.
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
She has long scar running from her right cheek bone down in an arc to her chin.
Alright, tough and has identifiable markings.  That will be good to know, depending on who is after her.

Quote
Okay, that is fine, but if she is of the type to drift, take what she can, and leave before any consequences are faced, what would keep her with the crew?  I mean, if something goes wrong and the crew is in some kind of trouble, what will keep her from cutting and running and leaving everyone to whatever fate befalls them?  That's the feeling I am getting from her so far.

Quote
Bionics:All of the fingers on her left hand are cybernetic for reasons she’s never revealed. The bionics are outdated tech made out of old discoloured metal of swirling bronzes, browns and silvers. A chassis made of small bars of the same material hooks around her hand to hold the fingers in place. These fingers give her no special abilities other than the continued use of her left hand.
So, her hand is just the most basic replacement for her original with none of the expensive synthetic skin covering?  Alright, if it is just to give her the original strength of her original hand, that would be good.  No issues here, assuming that these outer hooked bars are just for aesthetic purposes.

Quote

Okay, good with small arms, a cool head in trouble, and knows some features of the criminal underworld.  A good, scrappy girl is always needed.

Quote

Okay, so she's unpredictable, has grey morals, and self-centered.  Most of that is good, though I must say that with her tendency to cut and run, it might be somewhat worrisome that she'll leave to save her own skin.

Quote
Background:Asland’s background is not something she talks about it is known she has had dealings with major crime syndicates in the past, but she has revealed nothing else and likely won’t even reveal that until she is safely off the station.
Keeping secrets is fine and all, but this character sheet is OOC information.  Just because it's displayed here doesn't mean that the characters will know it.  I'm going to have to ask you to make a background for her.

Quote
The Meeting:  She’s been grounded on this station for months at this point and is willing to say anything she has to get off it. She won’t take no for an answer and will very unsubtly reference her skills and abilities and why exactly you need her on this ship.
So, she'll be at some place, likely a bar for mercenaries, when Greyzak comes looking for someone with skills to be part of a crew?  She'll take the chance to get off Crimson and pull the salesman act of why she is better than anyone else?  Remember, Greyzak doesn't have a ship, but will hint that there is an opportunity and he needs a crew for it.

Quote
Starting Gear:  Most of her old gear was taken before she arrived on the station, so she had to scrounge up some gear over the few months she’s been grounded.

+A heavy laser pistol she keeps holstered on her side

+Some tattered light Armor consisting of a large worn metal plate sewn in to an old long sleeve military uniform.

+black gloves

+Black military grade boots (dubiously obtained)

+A large 6" combat knife she keeps sheathed in her boot

+400 credits
Why was her gear taken when she arrived on the station?  Her current equipment is okay.  Do note that a Heavy Energy pistol, while not illegal, is generally viewed to be rather much for personal arms.  Think of a heavy energy pistol as being the Desert Eagle of energy weapons.

Alright, looks good.  Of course, you can add one of the images here to where you can add them above.

Quote
Personality:  Phineas is a cool calm and collected individual. Never one to be goaded in to action. He has a calculating mindset that makes him come off as cold to some. In truth he is a very caring individual he is simply to wrapped up in his own self pity for most to see it.
An interesting contrast there.

Quote
Voices:  4,6,7 and 2( lose of his abilities still leaves him knowing it better than any non-telepath)
Since the bionics/cybernetics has damaged his psyonic abilities to the point of losing them completely, I think that he can understand Voice 2, but suffers the same problems of speaking it as a non-telepathic person.  After all, his mind is still attuned to Psyonics, but is unable to actually speak it outside the more verbal and gesture-focused aspects.

Quote
Abilities:  Phineas is from a baseline human stock though his home world has allowed for some genetic changes to take place over the eons. Psychic powers exist in most of the population. Additionally through science and the rich environment of the world their average life span is 180 years.
So, the humans of his home world have 'evolved' through the use of science and technology, perhaps ambient forces on his world also causing the population to develop psyonic abilities they have?  Sounds fine to me!

Quote

He uses this implant in conjunction with his enhanced sight to analyze facial and body motions of others in a type of technological mind reading.

Voice enhancements: Fin can speed very fast if needed as well as perform sounds outside of human norm. This allows him to more easily speak Voices 6 and 7.

Right arm replacement: Most of his right arm and shoulder have been replaced. It is a standard but well made replacement.
Alright, that all seems good to me.  Though, I must ask if you plan for his arm to perhaps have a concealed forearm blade?  Or perhaps have a small compartment to hide small objects, like a dagger?  Or is it just a normal replacement for a human arm?  Also, does he have the more expensive synthetic skin?  Or is the arm bare metals?  Of course, synthetic skin has to be replaced if damaged as it's not actually living.

Quote
Psyonic Understanding: Having once been a powerful psyonic, Fin knows what to look for in others who have it, are using it or are under the influence of it. He also knows a lot of tricks to keep from being effected or to throw a psyonic off of their game.
Well, it would take someone quite skilled to detect a psyonic person if that person had none of their own.  Since he was once a strong psyonic, he would have an advantage in detecting ambient psyonic influence.  I doubt he could detect a powerful person of psyonic energy that was more than five feet.  Minor psyonic could likely be right beside him and he wouldn't know unless he witnessed them using such powers.  For example, he likely would have no idea that Vergil's character was a Technopath.

Quote
Operative: Fin knows the world of high level operatives. How they usually think and do business. He even has a few old contacts still.
This is fine, but since Fin has effectively retired, a number of things he knew likely have changed over time.  Other than that, this looks fine to me.

Quote
Better than yourself: Fin can read people on an almost psychic level. His cybernetics allow him to do this in a much shorter time than he ever could before. If he can observe, or better yet speak with, someone for just a few moments he can usually determine their true attitude and if they are hiding something, making him an excellent negotiator.
Well, I wouldn't say an almost psychic level, but rather he is just a very skilled and experienced negotiator who knows physical queues and is skilled in observation.

Quote
Aint so big now: Fin was a big name back when he had his powers. As such he made a lot of enemies who were held in check with fear of what he might do to them. Now with the word out, he might get a visit from some of those people.
This will provide some interesting plot points.  *nods*

Quote
Depression: Fin is still wallowing in self pity over his accident. He hides it behind a cool smug face but sometimes he will disappear into his room for days at a time.
Well, hopefully being part of a less formal crew will help that depression.   :-)

Quote
Owned: The corporation that repaired Fin after his accident seems to think that they own him now. Fin on the other hand knows exactly what he made for the company over the years and considers the books balanced.
Hmmm, this would also bring up an interesting plot point.  Nothing like the cooperates wanting 'free labor' on your back, no?

Quote
Background:
Phineas was born on Marsden, a terrestrial moon of a gas giant. Born to luxury and privilege he went to the best schools and was trained as the rest of his family, in focusing his mental abilities. His talents took him in a particular direction which gained the interest of the Betawave Corporation. For years he was their corporate fixer. Manipulating and if needed, removing their opposition.
One day his luck ran out and the meet he had set turned into an ambush. Phineas’s arm and most of the right side of his head was mangled in an explosion. The Betawave Corp. fixed him up as best they could but the cybernetics meant that his days as an operative were over. He was delegated to petty negotiations and the like. His depression got deeper and deeper until one day he simply walked away.
A little more meat to the background would be greatly appreciated, perhaps explaining more of how he flew up so high and what brought him down.

Quote
The Meeting:  Phineas had been hired by a third party to help with negotiations between two ship captains who hated each other. Not only were the negotiations successful but the captains agreed to keep the bloodshed down next time they met.
Okay, so he's come to Crimson Station to prevent bloodshed between two pilots.  Do you perhaps have any idea of what brought Fin to Greyzak's attention so that he would offer him a chance to join a crew?

Quote
Starting Gear:
High end personal communication device
Corporate bodyguard style body armor (stops small basic arms and fits nicely under a suit)
Briefcase and computer
5 nice suits
Sportsman long range ballistic rifle (breaks down to fit in a large briefcase)
Alright, all of this looks good to me.  I think Fin's the only one who would wear a suit so far!

Other than what I have pointed out, he looks good!

Indeed i admit i missed that originally. Will fix soon.

Of course. I didnt mean to suggest he still had some kind of connection simply that he knows the looks that go along with telepathic communication so he can follow Voice 2 better than a regular non-telepath.

No concealed weapons. At best it would have a data jack for storing information. It is a well made metal arm with no synthskin. He feels it gives him an air of danger in negotiations.

Its not a true detection in that he can point and say "Theres one" He just knows how telepaths move and react to things. He wouldnt get "vibes" off of them. As for people being in telepthic communications there are facial ticks and the like that would tip him off as would out of the ordinary movements/mumbling from a person being mentally controlled. Of course this would all be through observation not any kind of special ability other than the acute senses allowed by his cybernetics. Oh and of course the skill of the Psychic in question as well. A rookie would be easier to pick up on than a real pro.

This is fine, but since Fin has effectively retired, a number of things he knew likely have changed over time.
But of course. Nothing like finding out your old buddy actually has a contract on you ;P

Well, I wouldn't say an almost psychic level, but rather he is just a very skilled and experienced negotiator who knows physical queues and is skilled in observation.
Exactly what i meant. I get overly colorful in my descriptions sometimes. If your familiar with it, think of the show "Lie to me"

A little more meat to the background would be greatly appreciated, perhaps explaining more of how he flew up so high and what brought him down.
Can do. Was just trying to keep it to the 2 paragraphs suggested.

Okay, so he's come to Crimson Station to prevent bloodshed between two pilots.  Do you perhaps have any idea of what brought Fin to Greyzak's attention so that he would offer him a chance to join a crew?
Perhaps one of the captains was a friend and spoke highly of him or perhaps during the negotiations certain information was let slip and Greyzak wants to know about it. Maybe Greyzak offers the job thinking Fin is still a psyonic and much to his dismay discovers otherwise but sees his other skills as useful. After all it helps to have someone credible looking around :D

Ill get the changes done up tomorrow. Anything I can do lemme know.

No concealed weapons. At best it would have a data jack for storing information. It is a well made metal arm with no synthskin. He feels it gives him an air of danger in negotiations.
A data jack is quite useful and very reasonable for storing information.  Of course, a jack could be installed into his new eye instead.  Either way is fine with me.  Besides, you are right that such an arm would be useful in personal negotiations.  :P

Ah, okay, that clears up my confusion.  Thanks!

Quote
This is fine, but since Fin has effectively retired, a number of things he knew likely have changed over time.
But of course. Nothing like finding out your old buddy actually has a contract on you ;P
*nods*  Indeed.   >:)

Quote
Well, I wouldn't say an almost psychic level, but rather he is just a very skilled and experienced negotiator who knows physical queues and is skilled in observation.
Exactly what i meant. I get overly colorful in my descriptions sometimes. If your familiar with it, think of the show "Lie to me"
I don't believe I have seen that show, but I think I now get what you are meaning.

Quote
A little more meat to the background would be greatly appreciated, perhaps explaining more of how he flew up so high and what brought him down.
Can do. Was just trying to keep it to the 2 paragraphs suggested.
No problem.  Two paragraphs is generally the minimal, but more are generally needed to help build the character.

Quote
Okay, so he's come to Crimson Station to prevent bloodshed between two pilots.  Do you perhaps have any idea of what brought Fin to Greyzak's attention so that he would offer him a chance to join a crew?
Perhaps one of the captains was a friend and spoke highly of him or perhaps during the negotiations certain information was let slip and Greyzak wants to know about it. Maybe Greyzak offers the job thinking Fin is still a psyonic and much to his dismay discovers otherwise but sees his other skills as useful. After all it helps to have someone credible looking around :D
Well, the arm and eye would be a dead giveaway that he isn't (the eye could be explained as someone who is down by 50% or so of their original strength, but the arm, there is no confusing that!  :P).  That said, it is possible that Greyzak may have heard of the issue that was flaring up and how easily 'this Fin guy' quelled it.  Besides, having someone who looks all business would be useful in a crew if there are some very serious negotiations to be hand.

Quote
Ill get the changes done up tomorrow. Anything I can do lemme know.
Not a problem.  I've still got one more sheet to look over.  With those fixes, Fin should be about ready for approval!   :D

Here is my new character submission. I decided to scrap Ran altogether and create a new concept, since you have given us the ability to create different races in a way with so many worlds.

Not a problem.  So, let's see this character!

Quote
Current/Former Occupation:   Adventurer Hunter-Tracker / Mercenary Hunter-Tracker
Someone like this would be quite useful.

Quote
Magic:  Racial inherent magical properties
*  Nine lives -  Like the land upright,  feline species are known for their nine lives.   Unless vaporized of completely destroyed.  She can resurrect from near like death or death itself.   As her body magically repairs itself.   This is not a infinite magical ability.   For it depletes the magical mana inherent in her from what race she is.   So thus is why it is called nine lives.
Would I be correct in that the nine-lives innate magic only affects unnatural death rather than extending natural life?  Sounds like quite the interesting race!

Quote
                       *  A horrible shot,  she could not hit the broad side of a barn.
                       *  Ma'Maw is on her last nine lives At 2016-05-01 12:31:44, MaMaw (uid: 714) rolls: 1d9 Result: 9
Hmm, looks like she may have to have some gun lessons, haha!  That said, I appreciate the random chance you gave for her lives.  Even without the magical second-through-eighth chances for life, she would make a formidable person.

Quote
Being a sort of fish-out-of-water when it comes to advanced technology, but if she were to ever leave her home world, she would have to have become used to wearing clothing and armor, at least in public places like stations or other worlds and maybe even most ships.  So, other than that important point, she seems like quite the interesting character!

Quote
As noted above, she would have to have adapted to wearing regular clothing and armor and whatever uniforms her job might require, but I am perfectly fine with this.  It would make sense that Greyzak might meet her at some eating establishment or bar and they talk.  Something about her having mercenary skills might come up and he offers her a chance to join the crew.  How does that sound?

Quote
Starting Gear: * Bikini
                         *  Backpack with waterskin
                         *  Sears Roebuck and Co. Grenade launcher (4 shot clip before reload - loaded with a clip)

                         *  2 extra grenade clips.
                         *  500 credits  At 2016-05-01 12:36:59, MaMaw (uid: 714) rolls: 1d10 Result: 5
Alright, this all looks good, but adding a note of normal clothes and maybe some armor, considering she worked with a merc group.  Also, keep in mind that a grenade launcher, like a number of Greyzak's big guns, will be stored in a locker until she leaves the station since no one wants to risk blowing a hole into the place and killing everyone!

Elven Sex Goddess

Magic  Your correct on the nine lives.  It only affects unnatural death and does not extend life.    As seen she has used all of hers as former merc.  (alas it is what I roled.)

Weakness   Ttook out the abhorrence of technology from coming from a less technology planet and race.    As it make sense she learned and grown accustom since being off world.

equipment  Added armor and inclusion of more clothing

meeting  Sounds good

Okay, unfortunately, pixel style art will not work for this game.  Do you have any alternatives?
This picture is entirely what the characters appearance was based off of so I doubt I can find another picture that would mirror is perfectly, will a description do? otherwise I sure I can find a picture somewhere that I can make work.

There crime lords she previously work for wish her dead, yes. In a law focused quadrant it wouldn't matter as much seeing as it is criminals who want her not law enforcement. No one is actively looking for her but if she where to be identified it would be a problem. I have no problem with this it's a good cause for conflict I'd think, as well as a good trade off: She's a great soldier but having her around could prove to be dangerous.

Okay, so she's unpredictable, has grey morals, and self-centered.  Most of that is good, though I must say that with her tendency to cut and run, it might be somewhat worrisome that she'll leave to save her own skin.
This is less a genuine issue and more a catalyst for inter-character conflict. I obviously don't want to leave because I'd want to keep playing but that idea that that she could leave or betray them could possibly lead to some good character moments. Also I wish her to have some sort of character arc if the game lasts long enough, so maybe she'll pull a Han Solo or Isabella and leave because she's used to being so self serving, but come back because she's changed somewhat or has grown attached to the other crew members.

Keeping secrets is fine and all, but this character sheet is OOC information.  Just because it's displayed here doesn't mean that the characters will know it.  I'm going to have to ask you to make a background for her. I like keeping the background of characters like this secretive to avoid meta-gaming, but I can expand on it if you wish. A more descriptive background will likely illuminate some of your other questions regarding the character anyway since the things like why her original weapons where taken and why she is in less than good terms with some crime lords are references to her unseen backstory.

Why was her gear taken when she arrived on the station?  Her current equipment is okay.  Do note that a Heavy Energy pistol, while not illegal, is generally viewed to be rather much for personal arms.  Think of a heavy energy pistol as being the Desert Eagle of energy weapons. I was thinking as such using KOTOR rules but I didn't think it would matter seeing as that was her sole armament. I have no problems if you want me to lessen it, but I think it makes sense seeing as combat is her sole form of employment. That and heavy hand guns are something she's more comfortable with, she'd spend less on armor and other combat gear if it meant getting a hold of a good heavy handgun just because that's something she prefers using.

I don't know what you are going to tweak, but it would be preferred if you could link your O/Os thread, thanks!
I deleted all the info off my thread a while ago when I left for a stint, will this do in its stead? https://elliquiy.com/forums/onsoffs.php?u=38417

Not a problem at all.  If you want, though, you can put it down to eight lives used to give her a backup if the worst happens.  I'm not that cruel.   :-)

Unfortunately, pixel art just can't work.  You can go for a description alone if you want, but a picture is generally preferred as a reference.

Alright, as long as you're fine with that risk, then it's great.

Well, as long as she doesn't run off for an extended period of time, this can be done.  I really am not fond of the party splitting off for extended periods of time.

It's not meta gaming because only the players would know.  Unless your character tells them or they find out the hard way, they will not know.  If a character suddenly knows something they shouldn't know, that is basically god-modding, which is unacceptable.  So, please build a backstory for her, thanks!

I have no problems with the pistol.  I just wanted to make sure that you knew that a heavy energy pistol would be effectively a desert eagle in terms of weaponry.

Okay, most of the interested players have completed their character sheets, so I will now set a closing date for recruitment:

Ithnuul, 1SAZ, and ThatRPGuy have until next Wednesday to complete their character sheets.  I'm hoping to get the OOC and Character thread up later this week so we can begin discussing some details to help set the beginning scene.

On another note, this is basically what a Keegrok looks like:

Vaguely reptilian in appearance and thick skin.  Obviously, they would dress more for this setting and they would also have a thick, 4ft long prehensile tail.  Just thought you'd ought to know!

Okay, I may have overestimated myself here. I am going to have to shut down the game for the time being.  I know not when I can reboot it or even if I can.  I have more on my plate than I originally thought.  Please accept my apologies here.   :-(
