I'm someone who makes my living from watching television. So I have to ask: Which shows do you guys watch, if any?

(I didn't see a recent thread about this, so let's consider this a thread specifically for the 2010-11 season! :) )

Fabion

Now a days i am watching Fear Factor .............Its my favorite show .

The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Lots of SyFy (hate the name btw)

TOTALLY hate reality TV btw.. I think it's a sign of the destruction of creativity in TV programming. I've seen too many shows that 15 years ago would have lasted a season die for 'bad ratings' so that <shudder> Reality programming could be more cheaply used to fill the slot.

If Reality TV had been big when the 1st season of Buffy, or the X-files had come out, we'd have never gotten to see a 2nd season.

Inkidu

The Walking Dead was okay I don't think it's going to stick very long. It's not exactly ground breaking. I watch it for the zombies.

The Good Guys, on Fox. I love that show, love it. It's the funniest thing on T.V.

Pawn Stars. Sure it's technically reality T.V. but it's the good you-learn-stuff kind.

That's about it, Oh wait! Castle. I watch Castle.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

Nico

So many! ~laughs~

Navy CIS, CSI New York, The X-Files, Two and a half men, a bit of True Blood recently, Supernatural, Lost, and some other random TV shows here and there. Depends a bit on my mood, and what the boyfriend wants to see.

hntergren

I'm doing a lot of catch up right now. I just caught up with Breaking Bad (will definitely be watching in July) and my next goals are Damages (season 1 was awesome, but then I fell behind) and Justified before the new season starts.

Rubicon, Mad Men, and Warehouse 13 are all finished for the year, but I watched those series "live" this year and I plan on watching them live next season (assuming Rubicon gets a season 2...).

As for those that are currently airing: Supernatural, Fringe, Community, The League, and Terriers. I'm still not sold on Terriers, but I loved The Shield so much that I'll give anything Shawn Ryan is involved with a chance.

I still haven't watched the Walking Dead premiere, but I plan on it.

Oniya

Dr. G., Main Street Mysteries, In Session...

Ice Road Truckers, The Mentalist, The Daily Show & The Colbert Report. I think that's about everything I catch regularly.

AtlasEros

I watch a lot of MMA: UFC, Strikeforce, Dream, Starkfights & watched a lot of groups that went out of business.

Also, I'm watching: Walking Dead, Bored to Death, Weeds, Dexter, Eastbound & Down, Jersey Shore, Metalacolypse, Boondocks, ATHF, Penn & Teller's Bullshit, Hung, & a few other hbo/sho shows.
O/O

Heaven Sent Blossom

Smallville is still the show I go out of my way to watch the most (even though I haven't loved season 10 so far, except for the Suicide Squad appearance obviously). Although right now Good Guys is probably my absolute favourite show, shame it's probably going to get cancelled.

Bayushi

Used to be, outside of football I did not watch television at all.

But now:
  • NCIS
  • NCIS: LA
  • Law & Order SVU
  • Law & Order Los Angeles
  • Nikita

I watch these shows weekly, catching an occasional episode of Entourage (on VH1) with one of my roommates. It is probably a good thing that my roommates and I tend to all watch the same shows, especially NCIS and L&O. Nikita was iffy at first, but has grown a fair bit from its beginnings.

Aiden

Major Major

Pretty much the only thing I watch live on Telly nowadays is Top Gear, otherwise, I watch anime DVDs.

LeonSolidor

I watch three things.

Bones
Hell's kitchen
The Walking Dead

CaringGuy

It's a rare thing that I actually get around to watching television programs as they initially air.  At the moment I'm watching the reboot Battlestar Galactica series, Weeds, Gurren Lagann, and Married with Children on Netflix Streaming.  Nothing new has really grabbed my interest other than 'The Big C', which I've been watching rather religiously and am extremely fond of.  The show hits very close to home, but in the best way possible.

I like to pretend like the new season of Weeds didn't happen, so that show is officially marked off of my DVR list.  Whenever I need my fix, I watch reruns.

OneLastWish

I didn't realize how much I watch until I sat down to write this! So here we go:

Bones, Fringe, Supernatural, Smallville, Chuck, The Mentalist, Castle, Lie to Me, Glee, Raising Hope, Heartland, Soul Eater, My-HiME (on the last few episodes), True Blood, The Westwing, Deadliest Catch, NCIS, Two and a Half Men, My Name is Earl, How I Met Your Mother, and I have a lot more stuff set up for my Netflix instant queue. :D

I watch Family Guy, although it's just repeats on right now and CSI Miami & New York which are new episodes for the UK. I am sure there must be other things... my flatmate watches some soaps and reality shows but I try to ignore them. Peep Show, which will be starting a new series this week, I will be watching that (for non-UK people it is a very funny series following the antics of a dysfunctional duo of guys who live together, told a lot via internal monologue as the camera films their literal point of view). The Inbetweeners was very funny too but has sadly finished.

Oh and True Blood! Which I am just getting into halfway through the second series and don't know why I didn't get into it sooner. I do have a guilty pleasure in fact which is The Apprentice, although I blame my flatmate for that one, wouldn't have started watching it if it wasn't for her and now I am hooked >.<

Apart from that... downloaded stuff; anime and american shows that don't air in this country, which is TV but not on my TV.

I loved Rubicon and like The Walking Dead to a slightly lesser extent. Besides those two, I watch Chuck religiously. I would be watching 30 Rock, Community, Outsourced, and The Office, but I lost track of those during NaNoWriMo.

Survivor is a guility pleasure. I'm always a little surprised when it continues to be renewed.

Wolfy

Anime. Lots and Lots of Anime. Though mostly not on TV. o-o

Pellafin

Chase, Bones, Castle, The Dresden Files, Plus more.....
Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad

And when I'm watching T.V. With my daughter we watch Blues Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, and The Fresh Beat Band
Arkady Duvall: You! I don't believe it!
Jonah Hex: Guess I'm just a bad penny.
Arkady Duvall: Why are you doing this?

Where else can you get a show that has no writers, and a cast that mostly works on the possibility of a paycheck?

Hello? Stargate Universe? Warehouse 13 and Eureka! :D

The reason for the name change was so they could copyright the name and to 'get out of momma's basement' outlook.

Of course my little sin is The Closer on TNT.

The reason for the name change was so they could copyright the name and to 'get out of momma's basement' outlook.

They'd do better on that if they'd stop making crappy B-movies.  The phrase 'A SyFy Original Movie', or its predecessor generally means 'standard creature invasion movie with overdone CGI'.  Small group of people in isolated setting encounters aggressive and potentially humanity-destroying creature(s).  Most of the group is slaughtered in a variety of ways.  At the last minute, the most sympathetic character (and occasionally, their love-interest) comes up with an insanely ridiculous way of defeating the creature(s).  Sometimes, this is at the expense of the love-interest.  At the end, there is a hint that the defeat of the creature(s) wasn't entirely complete, paving the way for [insert name here] 2: The Return.

The three shows you've mentioned are diamonds in the dross - and I'm speaking as a life-long science fiction fan.

Well I figure that Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis were good. Sanctuary is sorta/kinda good. I'm kind of twitchy about the outlook that some studio execs had with the name change 'de-nerdifying' the channel. I liked the first 2 seasons of the Battlestar Galactica series, as well as what I've seen of Caprica.

I totally hate the reality TV and wrestling on the channel.

Bayushi

I've long since given up on Sci Fi.

Their programming wasn't great to begin with, but better than a sharp stick in the eye. Now, however, their programming really can't get any worse.

Sure, the occasional SG-1 is nice. I don't know if they even show Trek re-runs anymore. Eureka bores the ever-living hell out of me, and I'm not a fan of the new BSG.

So the channel has wrestling and crappy B-movies. Great. Just another channel to ignore, like most of the trash on television.

Lah

As of lately... I don't watch all that much TV. But when I do, I tend to watch kiddie cartoons  ;D. Stuff like... Phineas and Ferb, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Avatar the Last Airbender, Dexter's Laboratory, Spongebob Squarepants (I can't believe how long that show has been going now...). Looking forward to the return of Ren & Stimpy to the Nicktoons network on Saturdays.

I have a guilty pleasure in watching Wife Swap or Trading Spouses. I feel a whole lot better about my family whenever I see those shows. I also find the recent trend in Hoarding shows to be disturbingly interesting. I also like stuff on the Travel Channel, shows like Bizarre Foods, Man vs. Food and Ghost Adventures. My whole family watches Glee. We used to watch House, but it's been kinda going down hill after the third season...

Then in the late evenings I occasionally watch Futurama (if I can ever happen to catch it on Comedy), King of the Hill and Family Guy. And if I get lucky on Saturdays I sometimes stumble upon reruns of Cowboy Bebop at like 3 AM. That's about the only anime I'll watch on TV and one of the few dubs I can stand.

Drusilla

I don't watch a whole lot of tv.  I mainly read a lot, but the shows that I do make sure to watch are The Walking Dead, Being Human (BBC), Torchwood (BBC), and Doctor Who, when I get the chance.  I noticed that Scy Fy is going to be coming out with an Americanized version of Being Human.  Looking forward to it, though the guy they have playing the vampire is no where NEAR as hot as the guy the BBC has playing him.  Yum...

also, i like crime scene investigation, house & grey's anatomy

Recently started sharing a Netflix with one of my roomates and my mom and dad upgraded their cable to the million channel variety, so I've had a lot more opportunity to go after TV series and stuff than I might have had in years past. Something I've been Netflixing very heavily is the new Battlestar Galactica. It's possibly the best drama I've ever seen on film; Edward James Olmos is brilliant, and there's no real weaknesses in the characters or casts.

The Military channel is fun. They should call it the World War 2 channel: it's what History used to be before it because the Partially Sensationalist Ghost Hunting, Monster Hunting, 2012 Network Olololololololol, which is cool with me.

Also watch a lot of politics with the family, mostly MSNBC because of our political leanings. Rachel Maddow annoys me with her manner of speak/lecturing, however, no matter how much I might agree with her, and I can't stand more than small doses. I'm not a fan of having things repeated to me. Rachel Maddow repeats things. She repeats things in the same manner over and over like someone filling space on their term paper. I'm not a fan... etc

My Dad loves Judge Judy and I kind of like it too. He also watches a Springer-esque show, but the host is a lot more proactive and aggressive... the name escapes me. But that sort of thing is big with him when there's nothing else on. He also loves Doctor Who so much, he's got every DVD ever made of it ever. It's ok, but I'm not a massive fan.

Maiz

After a year of absolutely no TV (thanks dorms), I'm starting to ease back into TV. What I'm looking forward for next year is season 5 of Madmen, season 2 of Boardwalk Empire, and the premieres of A Game of Thrones and Legend of Korra. :D Oh and I love Adventure Time with Finn and Jake. It's so weird.

Kimbersqk

I really do not like watching TV much at all. Shows are going way downhill... I do like NCIS and Criminal Minds.

I have always been a couch potato.  Growing up  had tons of surgeries and some of them were on my head, they had to build the area around my brain so they didn't know what I could do so i was basically in front of the TV for a lot of my childhood. And because of that I have had a very strong fondness for 90s kid shows (Yes i'm a 90s kid) So blocks like TGIF, Snick, and Saturday morning cartoons were IT.  As I got older i was saddened to see shows like Rugrats, Boy Meets World, and Garfield & friends replaced with spongebob, TGIF just disappeared and stuff like Family guy all took over TV.

Then I got into sitcoms like FRIENDS, SEINFELD, and SCRUBS and really got into SCRUBS and that became my main show that I watched and just could never find anything else that really caught my eye.  Then this past year I decided I"ll DVR every new sitcom/drama that I saw advertise and actually are watching a few since my beloved Scrubs was taken off the air.

So besides syndicated stuff and pro wrestling, I watch Pretty Little Liars, GREEK and Vampire Diaries

(Deep dark secret time)

And I get slack from my sister constantly for this but I also am into Soap Operas.  One reason I like them is because I hate only watching one episode a week, with Soaps i get a new episode daily.  Plus I watch Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and One Life to live so they all are written differently and all have different plots, sure their might be the dumb baby maternity tests, and junk like that but I can just fast forward through that, and I watch the storylines that I do like.

I don't really watch anything on tv as such, I use Hulu and Netflix.

Current shows that I do watch on Hulu and Netflix include:
  American Dad,
  Family Guy,
  House,
Lie to Me (such an awesome show!),
  Saturday Night Live,
  The Simpsons,
Doctor Who (which is possibly the greatest show ever).

I'm also getting through these 'cause I missed them the first time:
  Farscape,
  Angel

The only show I watch with any sort of regularity, and only for the past few weeks, is Justified. I'm having a hard time figuring out just what it's trying to be, but Timothy Olyphant is pretty cool, and I can sort of appreciate the setting and the premise, so, hey ...

Been spending a lot of time with my dad with my mother taking care of her parents and I've found myself inlove with his old shows, currently Gunsmoke is the best! No one messes with Miss Kitty!
He's also gotten me watching House (again, haven't since season 3) and NCIS both when it's on and I have time.

Though, on my own, I have been watching Young Justice & Metalacolypse (Can't wait to season 4! Pesky cliffhangers!).

I don't care for many new shows and I am more of a movie person XD but when the TV is on I'll watch those (Even though I watch Young Justice on CN or Youtube)

Can't wait for the DVR to trip.  As soon as it hits Masterpiece Mystery, it's mine.

I hate the face they do JUST 3 eps per season.. BASTARDS.. it's AWESOME stuff.. I've watched each of them 3 or 4 times easy. That and Luther. I love Luther too. :D

Me and my buds are making bets on who shoots which bad guy by season's end.

Oniya

Just finished watching 'Les Misérables' on DVR.  I was surprised to find out that Nick Jonas actually started out in the theater, and was not just a product of the Disney pop mills.

I'll admit, I haven't committed myself to a TV series in a long time.  I do get a kick out of some of the 'reality' shows on channels like Tru TV....Bait Car, Hardcore Pawn, reruns of COPS (been watching that for years...literally since it started in the 1980s).  American Pickers is also pretty neat with all the old interesting stuff they find (and find out how much it's worth)...I forget what channel that's on though.

Other than that, most of my 'series' watching is amongst my collection of anime DVDs.

I have a lot of random shows on the background while I work - it's good background noise - but the one show I've actively been watching lately is Ru Paul's Drag Race. It's just addicting.

Usually, reality shows like Beverly Hills Fabulous, Basketball Wives.

Cartoons like American Dad are good too.

Not a huge tv series viewer these days but here's a few:

Damages (superb series, I became an occasional watcher sometime in season 2 and now the main public service network here have began a rerun from the start; will probably buy at least the first two seasons on dvd)
Sherlock (brilliant crime tv script, great acting - looking forward to the next season. "Reichenbach"? OMG!)
CSI Miami
True Blood (sometimes)
Spartacus: Blood and Sand
Mayday! (morbidly and technically fascinating, not afraid to fly though)
Carlos (recent series about the infamous "Super terrorist" - very interesting and well acted)

I'm also a big fan of the Mezzo cable channel which transmits classical music, opera, ballet and jazz 24 hours a day (in French). Priceless, they've telecast some of the best music tv I have ever seen - some are screenings of dvd's but a lot are on-the-spot tapings of live concerts and opera.
