Slender Secrets

He thinks I had a choice.  This grandpa cop
in hipster glasses, ironed shirt who writes
my words like tendrils, mansion, doesn't stop
to question that they might be true.  First night,
Seduced, at six, into your service,
The circles drawn on dolls you say are meant
for me unless I listen.  Go from nervous
to abject fear by twelve years old.  You send
by then your pixie proxy, swimming pools
with slender secrets.  Sharp sacrifice we
surmise because we both see.  Two tools,
who'll slice, like air, for you, a strawberry.
You taught me that a knife is but a key;
to kill a friend, not choice, necessity.

I wrote this sonnet about the Slenderman stabbing after watching the HBO documentary.  Really enjoying that this site encourages poetry!

For Sith Lord another sonnet.

FLUTTER

Estate enchantment on a lake, a lass
extends a finger, her mistake, to moths.
A moonlit flutter does disguise their mass,
a swarm, not butterflies, as maidens caught.

Surprise that lands with chestnut wings on hands
it covers, mottled message sings.  Its tale
of death, disease and woe.  Its dark demands,
details she should not know become her veil.

Surrounded, followed fearsome flaps, human
contact reduced to shrieks and gasps.  The beasts
she wears are tragedy.  Their flitter fans
all misery — from dark wings, no release.

A solitude of secrets insects utter 
since she first saw death in darkness flutter.

Here’s another one.  It’s a little romantic demon horror. I hope you like it.

Dollhoused

A cuckold made by babydoll, her throat
serated, first reveal of claws.  A man
she thought she could deceive.  Demon dotes
a damsel as one naive.  A form human
pretend he takes.  Reptilian heart in half
she breaks.  A bloody gasp she thinks her last,
but no.  Her torture down a tiny path
he shows.  His shrunken siren he clasps
in palm, inside a dollhouse, with wrath,
embalmed.  A three-inch sofa, minuscule
her tears, her pleas too teeny to meet
his ears.  His fingers bring her close, so cruel,
a dangle, dump, diminutive defeat.
A hurt so big remade to something small
inside a house he crafts that’s two foot tall.

Asylum

A stick so slick, a pushed up sleeve, they hold
me down until he makes them leave — child
collected, caged, sixteen, a stranglehold
syringe in veins pristine.  My breath so wild
is slowed restrained.  He looms so close.  His wink
nefarious as thoughts contained.  He waits
so patient ‘til I’m deep.  A maniac
so handsome, half asleep.  He medicates
my will away.  A haze of him my dreams
replay.  Not doctor, now, but Eminence,
whose tax is tears, remittance muffled screams,
your Thorazine kiss, chemical prince.
A bed with straps, wide, windows clear,
sedated kiss you steal another year.

Pine Queen

You walk with fire and dance with night, to feel
with blistered skin that shivers pale.  What waits
for you in woods? For I have seen you kneel
by trees at night and followed you on dates,
and you are strange. Your heart in half you wear
around your neck, so men can see it shake
and pull the chain and make you hurt. We stare
but do not do a thing to help you make
it stop. Then under ceiling fans, you pray
for angels to hold your hands and one eyed
uncles to be, at last, found out. You say
that home is where the demon gets inside.
A golden heart we pushed in ground so deep
to keep it safe while under pines you sleep.

Some dark horror in the woods:

The Hunter

He carved a box.  Polished an axe and chopped
an oak before you rustled leaves that line 
his woods. Fashions a heart, shape that’s lopped
befits the beating valentine he’ll find
behind bared breasts.  By knife, conquest
in curlicue, eviscerates, renames,
reduces you to letters, four.  A crest
that binds you to the rest, a dozen’s shame;
you share a name — just contents that he locks
until it rots, replaces with the next.
Pretext, particulars collects, this box
a map to innocence no one protects.
It hums until he hollows it and pours
your heart, just like a dozen boxed before.

Thank you Sith for saying that.  Here's a little fairytalesque one I wrote:  Maudlin Mermaid.  She's seen what's in the dark depths of the ocean, and she's a little sad but beautiful too.


Maudlin Mermaid

Pacific princess pouts behind a fin.
Charcoal, her scales, sequined sunlight on waves.
A raven head on rocks she must pretend
to persecute the sailors that she craves.

Her sisters swim to join with rainbow tails
and tresses tinged in pink and honeydew
with smiles that spread the closer ships do sail.
They celebrate the evil that they do.

Their circle, song she's not invited in.
Secluded to the side, a sable spy.
Distrust a dimpled face too dour to grin.
As ships to sediment descend, she'll cry.

Dark iris rimmed with red unlike her peers.
Inside the tide, you cannot see her tears.

Jasmine is so beautiful.  I also really like Belle.  I wrote a sonnet about her — well about how I like a beast (and it is inspired by that library scene).  But I can’t post it here because it would be too adult.  I’ll post this one that is definitely not adult, not even human.  It’s about Hello Kitty which I love.

Hello

No mouth to make a meek meow just mum
not glum with friends somehow. Hellos with paws
to barks and croaks and hops.  No purrs or hums
but bows as bright as lollipops.  No claws
just joy atop her head — beside left ear,
a bow of red.  She does not have a lot
to say.  Her clothes and yellow nose, her cheer
displays.  In overalls, a dress with dots,
a pastel palette shares her thoughts.  A pie
with apples made by mom can fix a heart
just like a song.  Two dots of black, her eyes,
no tears, to smear a whiskered work of art.
Her kingdom cute, a cult, cartoon pretty
a queen, pristine, quixotic, quiet Kitty.

Runaway

You're old enough to know how this will end.
Don't long for anyplace you've ever been.
Plane ride to an imaginary friend,
details so perfect he crafts with a pen.

Nothing's as romantic as far away.
Only a stranger can make you feel new.
His city, your setting, his lines, you say;
you're easily written, so he'll cast you.

A part you sink into, you even smile.
Your hair and your body, all his to convey.
You forget it's an act after a while.
Then some new director writes you a play.

How old must you be to learn how to stay?
Will you ever not want to runaway?

I scrutinize your lack of eyes.
You shake me ’til I’m sacralized,
then bend down low to stroke my cheek
while both my mind and knees go weak.

You gently take me by the wrist,
your babydoll somnambulist.
A violet tucked in my dark hair,
we walk towards your slender lair.

Your stride as wide as legs are long.
Your spindly fingers’ grip is strong.
Saccadic skips through woods so dark –
you pull me where the pines grow stark.

A splendid mansion you created;
all those years you watched and waited.
Shiny black and scintillescent
for a favoured adolescent.

Surveyed for years, you let me know.
You felt my pain and watched it grow
until tonight – I take your hand

I wrote a sonnet today because of your avatar Slith about Julian McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy but its' not appropriate for this forum. :)  So instead I'll post a poem I wrote a couple of weeks ago when I was having to wait in a waiting room a long time and I had on very witchy socks (I like knee socks a lot) and I called myself Waiting Room Witch online, and I decided to write a woman who decides to let a waiting room have her witchiest self after days of dealing with bureaucracy.  So I wrote a sonnet prompted from that title.  Anyway,  here's Waiting Room Witch:

Waiting Room Witch

A bureaucratic mystery, a hex
upon her history.  Her second day
industrial faux marble tile in specks
of gleam, a witchy smile. First day display
of normalcy, conservative pinstriped
fealty. Alligator on a breast,
her uniform does not impress. Despite
a preppie patient wait, request:
return a second date.  Incantations
in glittered tights, bewitching velvet boots
beneath fluorescent lights.  With sage she shuns
the spirits there: apathy, beige suits,
depressing hair.  Then bumped to number one.
A white-collared spell, sage, skintight in pitch:
You cannot contain this waiting room witch.

THE FLAME

You walk together dressed in white, between
the trees into the night.  The rocks beneath
your feet so rough, a march through blackest green
to hallowed bluff.  Against a tree, underneath
its blossomed branches lee bequeathed.  His hands
inside your lacy dress, he whispers past
despair and hopelessness: "I have a plan,
my little bear," a voice you follow fast
and anywhere down this path to the stake.
He lifts you up; your hands he takes, clasps
and binds with righteous rope.  The knot he makes
chokes out all hope.  Jeers you hear as you gasp,
your last; his pupils flicker, first to catch,
before he smiles at you and lights a match.

Another reference I don't know, The Puppeteer.  Totally have to look into that.  Thank you so much.  I really loved this documentary so much.  It was so fascinating, its take on mental health.  So glad you liked my poems.  I have a lot of darker ones too that I can't post here -- and I definitely erred on the side of caution to be a respectful potential member of Elliquiy.
